Pasta with clams and botarga
Jaime L.

This review is being written during the COVID-19 pandemic, so a few words about their safety measures. All staff wear masks, and tables are thoroughly cleaned between patrons. Menus are disposable, but no contactless menus available. Contactless payment also not available. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, and tables are quite close to each other - i.e. not 6 feet apart. The outdoor space is quite lovely, but there are no fans, and when we visited there mosquitoes, so bring some repellent if you don't want to ruin your experience. We started with a bottle of Falanghina. All wines are very fairly priced, and it's one of those places where it makes little sense to order just a glass. We ordered fried calamari, and it was exquisite. Perfect texture and impeccable execution, just the right crunchiness and just delicious. They bring bread to the table, slightly toasted, olive oil and balsamic. We continued with the arugula beet salad. Quite a unique concept, with a thick beet dressing drenching the peppery arugula, topped with tomatoes and feta. In my opinion it lacked a little acid, it would have benefited from some lemon juice. Our main was the bottarga clam pasta. The pasta was nicely cooked al dente, but in my opinion lacked umami. My companion found it oddly tasting and left it uneaten, but I munched away. What I realized, after finishing my portion, was that it left a very unpleasant metallic aftertaste. So, I would not recommend this dish. We finished the evening with a pistachio layered cake and espressos. The slice was humongous, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The cake itself was very soft, the frosting very light and not too sweet. All in all a pleasant experience. The pasta was not to our taste, the outdoors would have benefitted from a few fans, and the indoor dining room was just a little too packed for comfort, but generally great food and ambiance.

Pasta, clams and olive oil - I've never dreamed of food before . . .

Miami has some excellent restaurants. Baiocco a/k/a Osteria del Mare is newest and superior to the best I've had in town. The owner, Claudio, is not new to the business, having successfully opened Alta Mar in south beach over a decade ago. He brings the same winning formula for exceptional food and service to the northern Biscayne corridor and adds a hefty helping of ambience and atmosphere. This is my newest regional favorite. On entry, the space has a deja vu. Like stepping in to the home of a beloved relative; plaster walls decorated with cooking utensils, signs and posters memorializing Italian heritage. We were led to a table in the outside rear courtyard. Simple brick decking, cream colored umbrellas and strings of lights set a peaceful tone. Music, distant and subtle, neither interferes nor distracts. Servers are headlessly busy, but pleasant and available on the spot. Menus offer broad options but lack complication. A basket of fresh bread with chewy crust and a tasty, sweet balsamic to dunk. Starting with the fried artichokes, the tone is firmly set. Simple and delicious - no overpowering sauce, just a bit of olive oil, salt and lemon. Followed quickly by a large butter lettuce platter with cherry tomatoes and avocado in a light vinaigrette. Enough for 2. A whole fried snapper is served. Crispy skin cooked to golden and mysteriously seasoned over flaky white fish. Flying forks stabbing for prime ground as squeezed lemon sprays over; a second whole fish -pompano- filleted at table side and served with a light butter sauce that delicately compliments. Sadly, no photos of either fish! It was a case of attack and eat or watch and be hungry. A bowl of spaghetti appears soon after, dressed with fresh clams and a silky coating of olive oil. I've never experienced a perfect al dente before. So exact, I lament my inability to reproduce the precision in my kitchen. Closing out the meal, a fig and nut tart. Beautifully layered with a gentle sweetness and nutty crunch. Outstanding. Start to finish, dining is choreographed from an experienced history of perfection by Claudio who is cordial, charming, professional and most important, passionate about his food and service. Competitively and reasonably priced. This is Miami's finest gem, rivaling and rising above the rest of the more elite venues. If there is an accolade above 5 stars, it was unarguably earned.

Authentic & Rustic. I came to Baiocco for a casual dinner and had a wonderful time. The service here is very attentive and you are welcomed with much enthusiasm the moment you step in the door. Though parking may appear to be a hassle, there is a valet option available that is only tip. With a reservation already made in advance, we were quickly seated and attended to. Our waiter was a young man who patiently explained the specials of the evening and made note of the vegetarian request at our table. I was thoroughly impressed with the level of care taken to ensure our visit was great...this is something I wish I saw more at other restaurants. I also enjoyed the extensive wine list that allows flexibility with accordance to your dish. As for the food, we had the: Bread - cold, but sometimes that is common at restaurants. Mixed varieties of bread served. Went well with balsamic + olive oil, and my wine. Pappardelle al Pesto con Pistacchi - this dish sounds incredible, and it was indeed delicious. However, I found it to be a bit dry...potentially due to pappardelle being a more dry, egg pasta and coupled with pistachio. Gnudi di Spinaci e Ricotta - this dish was my favorite. I was a bit sad that the portion was slightly smaller than anticipated, in relation to the price, but that is mainly because it was so delicious. The tomato sauce was one of the best that I've had, packed with zest and notes of garlic. Torta Cioccolato e Pere - hmm, I would have to say that I was bit disappointed with this dessert. For $7, it was basically a layer of chocolate mousse on a graham cracker crust with one sliver of pear. It was a real letdown as I envisioned something totally different and when pear was mentioned, I thought it would be incorporated throughout the dish. Overall, I share some mixed feelings about Baiocco. Though the dishes were authentic and delicious, I feel for the price it may be a bit unbalanced, especially relative to portion-size. I do have to say that the hospitality of the restaurant was really excellent. As we were leaving, we were handed a small parting gift of freshly-baked cantucci. We were also offered a taste of one of their homemade baked goods. What would definitely bring me back here is the exceptional care the owner and staff go to making their guests welcome.

The food here is absolutely spectacular! I got the TONNARELLI CACIO E PEPE and it was divine. Definitely an excellent option for vegetarians. I was in Italy six month ago and this was the best pasta I've had since Italy. It tastes fairly authentic - which makes sense as the Chef is from Rome! I would recommend this place for the food alone. The service was slightly slow, however we were there on a busy day (Valentine's day) and they were slightly short staffed. I would come back on a regular day to have more of this yummy pasta!

This is a great new place, opened about a couple of weeks ago, Claudio welcomed us and was really great, we sat in the outdoor patio which is lovely, food was great. We had the Tuna Crudo and the Timballo di Melanzane, both very very tasty and then we shared the Linguine Gran Piatto di Mare, really super, this is definitely a new favorite, you guys should try it, I loved it

Grouper

I had heard great things about their Stuffed Zucchini blossoms . I was surprised to learn that the chef who made those is no longer here and they've changed their entire menu. The ambiance is very nice, especially the dimmed lights and lovely music in the background (ideal for a date) They're very attentive but not overbearing, which I like ...I ordered some carpaccio and will have the lamb chops and the grouper ...verdict coming up soon. thumbs up .. If you're liking for a simple yet classy dining experience, I would strongly recommend this place .

Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe special with tuna. And the gricia.

First time dining here and loved it. This place is basically a home converted into a restaurant. Small and intimate setting perfect for a date or a nice night out with friends. The service was excellent. The fried artichoke was the best I've had outside of Italy. The gricia was phenomenal as well.

Amazing experience. The owner Emanuel is as good as his homemade pastas ! Best octopus is ever had too..great wine. The atmosphere is perfect. A real gem!!!!

Delicious! This summarized my experience at Baiocco. As someone that truly loves Italian food and also who is very picky with it, you can certainly appreciate a place that truly knows what is al dente pasta as many location tend to make it hard and raw. Here is the breakdown: Food I went there twice in a week and truly enjoy the pasta. The pappardelle all'antica was to die for. Definitely a must for those that enjoy meat and red sauce. Simply delicious. Not a big artichoke person, but truly well done there. The carbonara was amazing, very tasty and it didn't feel heavy after eating it. Vibe/ decor The restaurant is inside a house and it is very easy to miss it if you are driving by Biscayne. The restaurant is very cute inside and giving that rustic chic vibe to it. Service The waiters are all very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. Other items Valet only. Tips only and no overpriced rate. Overall Had such a good time. Always a plus,

It's a really nice space and I'd come here just to grab drinks if you're looking for a classy spot. We ended up being seated at a high top, which is just the tables at the bar area. Next time I'd do a better job asking for a seat at the dining room or even overlooking the kitchen in order to watch the chefs in action. Lara was our server who was a rockstar. She knew the menu and was able to make good recommendations. We started with a Margherita pizza was thin and had a crisp, came out quick and was delicious. Good to split between two instead of bread service. Our mains were the Cacio y Pepe which was fresh and had a peppery flavor. Not bad but not my favorite. Rigatoni ragu was delicious and was my fav. I'd order this again. All the pasta is freshly made in house. Finally, we ordered a Banana bread dessert which was good for two and not too sweet. It was served with a scoop of banana flavored ice cream. I'd come here again as in my opinion it's much better than some of the overhyped Italian restaurants that you see on the gram in Miami. Make sure you make a reservation on Resy.

Every corner has intentional design details that make you stop and look twice. It feels like stepping into a Roman supper club that somehow got even cooler. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm without being overbearing -- exactly what a night like this calls for. The dirty martini was ice-cold, silky, and perfectly balanced. One of the better ones I've had. The pizza was exceptional -- crisp, airy, and rich all at once. The meatballs were hearty and deeply savory, stuffed with meat and sauced beautifully. And the pasta -- a meat-forward, indulgent bowl that was honestly the highlight of the meal. Perfectly cooked with bold, layered flavor that stuck with you. I couldn't tell you the exact names of everything we ordered because I was too caught up enjoying it, but every single dish landed. This is the kind of place that makes you want to work your way through the entire menu. Highly recommend. We'll absolutely be back.

We ordered the Valentina and King Bee cocktails to start and they came out delicious! Highly recommend. For entrees we ordered the fettuccine bolognese and the short rib tortellini. We joined the clean plate club with both of these dishes and didn't leave a crumb. For desert we had the espresso martinis tiramisu and once again cleaned the plate. Safe to say the dishwashers were fans of us. The service was impeccable. Food and drinks came out quick, waters were refilled promptly, and our server Alessandro made sure we were taken care of. This is a great date night spot and I would definitely put this place on your radar when in the Brickell area.

We tried the veal meatballs and fried calamari with artichoke. The veal meatballs did not hold together and were mushy. There were two tiny meatballs for $12. The fried calamari was very good but had more artichoke than calamari. Expected more calamari for the price. We don't mind paying for high quality food but they missed the mark with these dishes. Also, the portions were ridiculously tiny for the price you paid. Not a good value and neither dish was memorable. I'm very sorry that I forgot to take pictures of the dishes. On a positive note the service was top notch. Our bartender was professional and friendly.
