Everything went well from the drinks to the food to our server, Victoria! The food reception absolutely delicious, especially the brisket and the cream corn, that's a must.If you visit here! Thank you I highly recommend!!!

Its baaaaaack! Now serving in South Miami, La Traila makes its return slinging texas-forward barbecue that will have you craving it. Big portions, bold and juicy flavors, great folks working the spot, a must visit in the Sunset area, right next to Akashi. I love the Loaded Barbecue Quesadillas here as they do the job well, perfectly stuffed and flavored. Matcha Mule and El Pepe cocktails were great, loved Pepe and will definitely get again. Desserts rotate a bit so snagged this Guava cheesecake this go-round and it was a great closer. This is a great neighborhood spot to come with the fam, coworkers, and crew. Come get it!

It took a while to try it. I had to make it take out for my first visit. It didn't seem like they are setup for take out. It's suppose to be the bar tender to take the orders. She was so busy. One of the managers saw my frustration waiting to get my order taken. He had the hostess take it. Then had me sitting next to the hostess stand. Which made me in the way. All the tables were full. And it was lunch time on Saturday. That's abnormal. The bbq is slow cooked/smoked perfectly. Great spices. Just too much pepper for my taste. The brisket was soooooooft. Meat fell of the bone on the spare ribs. Don't miss the Mac n cheese. While the corn bread is moist. For Meat quality. This is the Top bbq place I've tried in miami.

Miami just leveled up its BBQ scene and La Traila is leading the charge. It has only been open for a month, but it's already making serious noise in South Miami. Sitting right in the heart of the neighborhood directly across from Akashi. The brisket elote is a must, has a generous portion of smoky, savory brisket. Although everything we ordered was a hit. The pork belly brisket was deeply flavorful and paired great with their house made bbq sauce which was mustard based , along with the spare ribs as well. Onto the sides, the queso blanco mac & cheese was comfort food done properly, and the cream of corn was rich and satisfying. The one heartbreak of the visit was being out of sweet potatoe cornbread by 3 PM on a Sunday. That's not a knock on the kitchen .. if anything, it speaks to how fast things are moving at this place. It just means a return visit is already mandatory.

I checked this spot out after seeing it on social media, and I'll admit--I was a little skeptical. Having tried some of the best BBQ in Texas but this place surprised me in the best way. What really stands out is their unique concept: a Texas-Mexican BBQ fusion that actually works. The flavors are bold and well-balanced. The ribs, cornbread, and mac & cheese were easily the highlights for me--each one done really well. I also loved the addition of pickled onions with every order; it's a small touch that adds a lot. The brisket had great flavor on its own, but it really came alive with the house made bbq sauce. I didn't try any cocktails this time, but their menu features a variety of Mexican-inspired drinks that gives me another reason to comeback for. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the space offers plenty of indoor and outdoor seating--great for anything from a casual outing to a date night. The decor feels intentional and well thought out, adding to the overall experience. This spot is still relatively new, but I can easily see it becoming a go-to BBQ destination in South Miami. Needless to say, they've gained a new fan. Wishing them lots of success! Can't wait to come back.

Really good food here. Better than many places I've visited in Texas. The service here is the issue . They made a lot of mistakes with charges and completely forgot to tell me my food was ready. Also almost slip and fell multiple times with wet spot that was never corrected. The ambiance is nice but this place is very packed because of the hype. Overall great food, but not so great service.

Best Mac n cheese had a jalepeno Tex mex vibe and the Pollo was also really good! Really close to public parking and service was also really good. The brisket was also good and looks like the smoke all their meats on site.

The manager and staff is super friendly they kept coming to our table to check if everything was good. The food is delicious. Meat is very tender and flavorful. It's a pretty new spot but social media made it very popular. We had a wait time to be seated about 20 minutes. Once we were seated and placed our order, the food came out quickly because everything is pre-made. My only complaint was that when the food was delivered they didn't bring any of the Bbq sauces or tortillas. We had to ask for tortillas and i got up myself to find the bbq sauces.

Excellent experience at this new barbecue spot in South Miami! From the moment we walked in, Dominique, our waitress, Jordan, the manager, and the rest of the staff made us feel truly welcomed. The food was fresh, flavorful, and the portions were generous. Loved the fun, relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back again soon with friends!

Food was deliciousssss. Service was also great. The ribs fell off the bone, the mac and cheese honestly was life changing. The fusion of Mexican and traditional BBQ was a super unique idea. The Mac and cheese has queso and green chiles in it. Brisket was soft and tender we really enjoyed everything we had here.

They got a 4 stars because of Adrian our server. Adrian was very hospitable and knowledgeable of the menu. When visiting La Traila request Adrian. I've been trying different Barbecue establishments and I'm looking for that wow factor when it comes to briskets. With that said, I was disappointed with the brisket one of the more expensive items on the menu. It's seemed dry with slight flavor. The ribs were nice and tender. Unfortunately I was not a fan of the flavor. We tried the sweet potato cornbread. It was different. I would recommend it if you like cornbread. Now to the star of the show. The pork belly was beyond amazing moist very flavorful cooked to perfection! And That mac & cheese lord it was absolutely fantastic! Slightly spicy topped with tortilla crumbs and garnish with very thin sliced jalapeños! Loved it! The tortillas also hit different, you can just eat them by themselves! Ambiance, it was very nice and clean, they have this beautiful painting on the wall of a bull, very nice, open kitchen so you could see the chefs putting the plates together. I liked how they had the smokers out where you could watch the pit master creating art!

Pulling up to La trails in south miami i was already excited by the smell of smoke and bbq spices in the air. We sat outside although they have a huge indoor service. The drinks were great and to our surprise the old fashions were $4 all night and were a perfect pairing to all the delicious food. Especially their cream corn and bbq brisket empanadas. It's Texas BBQ with a Mexican flair and those flavors pair altogether too nice in my opinion. Great place for big family meals sharing style.

La Traila is back and better than ever! After closing their Miami Lakes location a few years ago, they recently re-opened in the South Miami / Sunset area. When I went the place was packed, which is not surprising given it's a new opening with a lot of buzz. I tried the brisket empanadas, ribs, brisket and the Mac and cheese. The empanadas were simply amazing and highly recommended. I could not eat the ribs, brisket or Mac on the spot as I needed to take carry out for the wife, so I could not fairly judge each as I had to reheat the food later on and did not eat it fresh. The only downside is my gripe with Sunset as a location since you have to pay for parking pretty much in that whole area, very annoying. The staff was super friendly, I will be going back.

It's easy to find right off Bird Road with easy strip mall parking. Upon arriving it sets the mood entirely with great fun appropriate decor and a prompt happy welcome. Staff Makes us feel they are glad we came-What a cool place! We settle on the brisket, baby back ribs, potato salad and beans with brisket. Can I tell you EvErYtHiNg was spot on!! And we plan accordingly to try their famous 12 hour smoked Flan dessert!! 1. Smoked Brisket- moist, perfect flavor, hearty portion, tender and high quality meat. Comes with great sauce, which I didn't use since it was so perfect as is. 2. Smoked Baby Back Ribs- Another hit with healthy portion, great flavor, and super meaty. Honestly, just hard to stop eating it! 3. Baked Beans with Brisket- A true meal unto itself! I could've stopped here! Tons of brisket ground into the beans, almost like the best "chili" ever. Flavor is sophisticated smokiness, not the usual sugary sweet restaurant rendition. Yay! 4. Potato salad is FIRE! Fresh perfectly cooked tender white potatoes, cooked carrots & peas add just enough interest and a magical a touch of mayo. Yes please. 5. 12 hour smoked Flan-STAR * of the show, the flan of my dreams! Staff insisted this flan is all that and they are correct! It's LEGIT. We left with a doggie bag, so worth it. Price was for real, you pay for quality. $74, but we brought plenty home. You could get by with a meal for two around $50-60, if you need. Check out their Later week Happy hour sand weekly specials as well as brunch & breakfast. It's all good here! Thanks for following me-happy spring 2026! ~Tami in Miami

Smoke & Dough... I Went Looking for BBQ... and Found One of the Best Pastrami Sandwiches in South…read moreFlorida Back in my day, going out for BBQ wasn't something you did every weekend. It was a special occasion. If you grew up in Miami, you probably remember The New Hickory on Coral Way. Then there was Uncle Tom's on 8th Street. Great food... but let's be honest... everybody was just a little nervous eating there because it was right next to the cemetery. You'd be halfway through your ribs thinking... "¿Tú crees que ese ruido vino del parking... o del cementerio? Later on we graduated to Luther's on Bird Road and 117th Avenue, and of course, Shorty's, the undisputed king that's been feeding hungry Miamians for generations. These days it seems like a new BBQ place opens every other week in South Florida. I recently tried one of the newer spots in South Miami... except when we got there they were out of half the menu. Nothing kills your BBQ excitement faster than hearing, "Sorry... we're out of brisket." That's like walking into Versailles and hearing they're out of croquetas. So when our friends Ana and Henry invited Betty and me to Smoke & Dough in Kendall, I was ready to get my BBQ on. We walked into this unassuming strip mall, I grabbed the menu, ready to order ribs or brisket... ...and then I saw it. The Pastrami Sandwich. Now THAT got my attention. Finding a really good pastrami sandwich down here isn't easy. Roasters 'N Toasters has a very good one. Lox of Bagels (what many of us still call Lox of Lox) makes a solid one too. But this one... This one beat them both by a mile. The meat was warm, juicy, incredibly flavorful, the cheese perfectly melted, the Thousand Island dressing was just the right amount, and the bread held everything together without falling apart after the second bite... a miracle in itself. And it wasn't one of those fancy little sandwiches you need a magnifying glass to find on the plate. This thing was substantial. I shared it with my wife... ...and I was full. ¡Y yo soy tremendo comelón! Our friends ordered the brisket empanadas, a quiche, and brisket sandwiches that looked absolutely outstanding. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked like somebody back there really cared about what they were serving. The atmosphere surprised me. Instead of feeling like an old-school BBQ joint with picnic tables and sauce bottles everywhere, it feels more like a cozy neighborhood bistro that just happens to know its way around a smoker. Comfortable, relaxed, and the kind of place where nobody is rushing you out the door because another party is waiting. They also have what looked like an excellent selection of wines and craft beers, which gives the place a slightly elevated feel without being pretentious. Now... everybody has been telling me about their famous **Smoked Flan Apparently it's slowly cooked on the barbecue pit for about five hours, giving the creamy custard and caramel a subtle smoky flavor. Believe me... I wanted to try it. But after that pastrami... Game over. There wasn't enough room left. The owners came over, introduced themselves, shared a little of the history behind Smoke & Dough, and made us feel genuinely welcome. Those little moments still matter. You leave feeling like they appreciate your business instead of treating you like the next number in line. Overall, we had a wonderful time. Good food. Great company. Friendly owners. A relaxed atmosphere where you actually want to stay awhile. After our last dining experience at another restaurant where we practically felt like they were timing us with a stopwatch, this was a refreshing change. Will I be back? Absolutely. Not just for the BBQ... I'm coming back to see if that smoked flan lives up to the hype. And maybe... Just maybe... I'll order ,another pastrami sandwich.

Per my usual attitude my first time somewhere, I wanted to try several items. The owner was super nice and gave multiple suggestions. I ended-up trying a really affordable wing special that comes with rice and beans, slaw, plantain chips and I added mac. I also added brisket, and that came with slaw. The green bean salad comes in one size as an add-on. Okay first, the owner is clearly magic, because there isn't a grill in sight. I had no intention of ordering wings, but these are seriously the best wings I've had anywhere, in a long time (100/10). The rice and beans (10/10), and the rice smelled like it came from abuelita's kitchen. The slaw, oh my goodness (100/10), so simple, and yet perfect! I thought the chips were unnecessary . . . NOT! These are delicious (10/10) and 100% belonged on my plate. The mac . . . well, you can't win 'em all. The brisket was good (9/10) and the sauce is mustard-based, just like I like it, but the star is what got me there, the green bean salad! This was a fresh, exciting dish that is like nothing you've ever had (1,000/10), I won't describe the ingredients here, because I think you should be surprised. I can't wait to go back.
