My wife and I had dinner at La Traila last night and all I can say is WOW. To say the food and service were spectacular would honestly be an understatement. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel welcomed and taken care of the entire night. Everyone was incredibly attentive, professional, and genuinely passionate about creating a great experience. We also had the opportunity to chat with the Chef, who shared the process behind the food and the amount of hard work and dedication the team puts into every dish. You can truly taste that passion in every bite. Everything we ordered was memorable, and full of flavor. What impressed us most is that there honestly wasn't a single negative thing to mention -- and that's rare these days. Great food is hard to find. Great service is hard to find. La Traila delivered both at an elite level. South Miami absolutely has a gem on its hands with this place. No smokiness. Didn't finish it. The queso was not cheesy. It was a soupy mess. The chips that came with it were fine, but like the sandwich, it wasn't anything you would order again. Sitting right in the heart of the neighborhood directly across from Akashi. The brisket elote is a must, has a generous portion of smoky, savory brisket. Although everything we ordered was a hit. The pork belly brisket was deeply flavorful and paired great with their house made bbq sauce which was mustard based , along with the spare ribs as well. Onto the sides, the queso blanco mac & cheese was comfort food done properly, and the cream of corn was rich and satisfying. The one heartbreak of the visit was being out of sweet potatoe cornbread by 3 PM on a Sunday. That's not a knock on the kitchen .. if anything, it speaks to how fast things are moving at this place. Pulling up to La trails in south miami i was already excited by the smell of smoke and bbq spices in the air. We sat outside although they have a huge indoor service. The drinks were great and to our surprise the old fashions were $4 all night and were a perfect pairing to all the delicious food. Especially their cream corn and bbq brisket empanadas. I checked this spot out after seeing it on social media, and I'll admit--I was a little skeptical. Having tried some of the best BBQ in Texas but this place surprised me in the best way. What really stands out is their unique concept: a Texas-Mexican BBQ fusion that actually works. The flavors are bold and well-balanced. The ribs, cornbread, and mac & cheese were easily the highlights for me--each one done really well. I also loved the addition of pickled onions with every order; it's a small touch that adds a lot. The brisket had great flavor on its own, but it really came alive with the house made bbq sauce. I didn't try any cocktails this time, but their menu features a variety of Mexican-inspired drinks that gives me another reason to comeback for. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the space offers plenty of indoor and outdoor seating--great for anything from a casual outing to a date night. This restaurant has been open less than a month and I am so glad I found them. This was the best bbq I've had in years! Way better than Apocalypse which everyone raves about. La Traila will give them more than a run for their money. La Traila will leave them in its dust. We were promptly greeted and seated. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Our waitress Jojo was on point, knowledgeable, and efficient. She made suggestions but we kind of got a little of everything lol. My husband started with the quesadilla which he raved about it having just the right amount of smoke and spice. For our entree I got the carnitas and he got brisket. Our sides were creamed corn, mac and cheese, and sweet potato cornbread. Everything was brought out quickly and was fresh and hot. My carnitas were perfectly seasoned and the brisket was tender and falling apart as you ate it. Jojo told us they only season with salt and pepper and smoke it all day in their outdoor smoker. Whatever recipe and seasoning they are using, all I can say is WOW! Their BBQ sauce was the perfect complement to the meat. The cornbread was hot, soft, and moist and served with an ample portion of butter. Both sides were delicious. The creamed corn was on the thinner side but the flavor was on point. Party of 7 on Mother's Day- new restaurant- we took the chance- well worth it ! We got there and they told us that it was going to be a 30 minute wait, which wasn't bad considering that you can wait by the bar. It ended up being much less. They're not fully stocked liquor wise yet they only had Modelo beers. The cocktails were good, but I had it twice made by 2 different bar tenders and the same drink tasted a lot sweeter made by one bartender than then other. The place was super humid due too so much in and out and high volume of people so the carpets were a great addition but I still almost ate it twice. They should also add a carpet in the bathroom especially under the hand dryer as it was all wet and I almost ate it there too. These comments are strictly constructive criticism and by every means are understandable that they are just figuring things out. Everyone from the waitress which was a lady with a buzz cut, manager, bar tenders and staff were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. They all asked multiple times if all was good. The FOOD is the showstopper. I was disappointed that cornbread and banana pudding was sold out but that just means I need to come back !! THE RIBS are one of the best I've ever had !! I mean just juicy and delicious ! Mac and cheese was also a fan fave !! The creamed corn has a sweet, savory flavor and a slight kick at the end of spicy. Brisket was very meaty and tasty as well. Having visited Houston to see family a few times in the last couple of years, it was abundantly clear that although the Miami BBQ has improved, we still had a way to go. That is no longer the case. Wow, were we impressed with the food quality and taste. Everything we tried exceeded our expectations. We were making plans to come back, before the night was over. What do you call a restaurant that runs out of everything? ...An Escape Room with appetizers.An office with a Bar. A Disco with No DJ So we visited La Traila Barbecue in South Miami Now first of all, the place LOOKS great. Nice vibe, cool setup, and they got this huge mural of a bull on the wall that looked like it wanted to personally judge my order. Parking though? A little rough. There's like three other restaurants fighting for the same parking spots. It felt like the Hunger Games of valet-less dining. We went on a Sunday around 5PM... apparently the exact time the kitchen starts saying: "Se acabó." The phrase we heard the most all night was: "Sorry... we ran out of that." A common complaint on Yelp about this place No ribs. NO RIBS. That's like going to KFC and hearing: "Sorry sir... no chicken." No carnitas. No cornbread. Almost as shocking as if Las Islas Canarias ran out of ajiaco on a Monday. (Okay relax... that never happens.) At one point we stopped asking what they HAD and started asking what was STILL ALIVE back there. So we ordered what was available: * Pulled Pork Sandwiches -- our friends liked them. * Brisket Quesadilla -- not bad at all. * Fries -- salty enough to preserve a pirate ship. * Mac & Cheese -- bland. Needed counseling. * Queso Dip -- actually REALLY good... just a little on the soupy side. Like queso bisque. The dipping sauces were excellent though. For drinks I had something called a "Pachanga": Havana Club Clásico, lime juice, Ancho Reyes chile, and Mexican Coca-Cola. Now listen... I understand craft cocktails. I appreciate creativity. But that chile thing kinda sabotaged the "premium rum and coke" vibes they were aiming for. It tasted like Cuba and a smoke detector had a disagreement. BUT... service? Excellent. Super friendly, attentive, nice people. No complaints there whatsoever. As we were leaving, more people were walking in... and all I could think was: "Los pobres..." Final verdict? Honestly... I DON'T KNOW. They had run out of practically everything people come there FOR. What we DID have was mostly good. My wife said the brisket in her quesadilla tasted a little "gamey," but I had the same thing and didn't notice... ...pero yo tenia TRES BARRAS DE HAMBRE. I would have eaten the menus I'd actually give them another shot ....especially when they got ribs, carnitas, and that sweet potato cornbread available. Because the place has potential. I have eaten at La Traila twice since they opened last week... not sure if it possible but the second time was even better! First time we had: brisket, pork ribs, Mac & cheese , comes with picked red onion , bbq sauce (which is fantastic). Second time we had the burger ((comes with fries) , smoked turkey breast & corn bread. The burger was amazing perfect medium, cucumber pickles (also amazing) onions & American cheese. This place right now is manageable without much of a weight but I know that will not last, run don't walk! The only reason I gave 4 stars is the first time they ran out of corn bread (it was only 2:30!) the second time my husband ordered a coke and they brought him a Diet Coke because they ran out of coke...... They opened up recently but their food service was phenomenal (Andres) did an amazing job explaining the menu and making sure everything was in order. His recommendations were perfect for us. Tried this new spot today and it was absolutely delicious! My husband and I ordered the brisket sandwich and the pork sandwich with fries. The bread was a little on the hard side, but the meats were packed with flavor. We also had the mac and cheese--despite the jalapeños, it wasn't spicy at all, just really tasty. Now for the downside: we got there around 12:30 and ordered two margaritas, but only one ever made it to the table. After being told the second was on the way, our waitress came back and said they had run out of tequila--which felt pretty odd for a Friday afternoon right after opening. We had also ordered cornbread with our meals, but it never came out. When we asked, we were told they had run out of that too. I'm not trying to be picky, but it seems like they could be better prepared when it comes to inventory. It was definitely a bit disappointing. Will we go back? Absolutely--but they need to get their act together. Parking is a challenge; we parked at Sunset Place, but once that building is gone, I'm not sure how easy it'll be to find a spot. Went on a Saturday around 4pm. About a 30-minute wait, which is expected. Had a minor issue with seating when our table was ready but it got resolved. Service was solid after the rough start, and the food overall was good. First disappointment was being told they were out of brisket, since that was the whole reason we came. What made it worse was watching the table next to us, who sat down well after us, get served brisket without any issue. That was frustrating. The biggest issue for me, though, was where we were seated. From our table, I had a direct view into the food prep line and could clearly see one of the employees calling out orders. While doing so, I repeatedly noticed spit flying from his mouth over the area where the meat was being cut and prepared. Normally I'm not someone who looks for things like that, but with the lighting and angle from our table, it became hard to ignore once I noticed it. That, combined with the brisket situation, is what led to the lower rating. The food itself was still good overall. I'd give it around a 7.8/10. read more

And when I went to the restroom I noticed there was no toilet paper. When my girlfriend went to the restroom I told her, so we asked our server to let someone know. The food was excellent across the board, and the service was just as impressive--attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better.
