It took a while to try it. I had to make it take out for my first visit. It didn't seem like they are setup for take out. It's suppose to be the bar tender to take the orders. She was so busy. One of the managers saw my frustration waiting to get my order taken. He had the hostess take it. Then had me sitting next to the hostess stand. Which made me in the way. All the tables were full. Miami just leveled up its BBQ scene and La Traila is leading the charge. It has only been open for a month, but it's already making serious noise in South Miami. Sitting right in the heart of the neighborhood directly across from Akashi. The brisket elote is a must, has a generous portion of smoky, savory brisket. Although everything we ordered was a hit. The pork belly brisket was deeply flavorful and paired great with their house made bbq sauce which was mustard based , along with the spare ribs as well. Onto the sides, the queso blanco mac & cheese was comfort food done properly, and the cream of corn was rich and satisfying. The one heartbreak of the visit was being out of sweet potatoe cornbread by 3 PM on a Sunday. That's not a knock on the kitchen .. if anything, it speaks to how fast things are moving at this place. I checked this spot out after seeing it on social media, and I'll admit--I was a little skeptical. Having tried some of the best BBQ in Texas but this place surprised me in the best way. What really stands out is their unique concept: a Texas-Mexican BBQ fusion that actually works. The flavors are bold and well-balanced. The ribs, cornbread, and mac & cheese were easily the highlights for me--each one done really well. I also loved the addition of pickled onions with every order; it's a small touch that adds a lot. The brisket had great flavor on its own, but it really came alive with the house made bbq sauce. I didn't try any cocktails this time, but their menu features a variety of Mexican-inspired drinks that gives me another reason to comeback for. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the space offers plenty of indoor and outdoor seating--great for anything from a casual outing to a date night. The decor feels intentional and well thought out, adding to the overall experience. This spot is still relatively new, but I can easily see it becoming a go-to BBQ destination in South Miami. Pulling up to La trails in south miami i was already excited by the smell of smoke and bbq spices in the air. We sat outside although they have a huge indoor service. The drinks were great and to our surprise the old fashions were $4 all night and were a perfect pairing to all the delicious food. Especially their cream corn and bbq brisket empanadas. La Traila is back and better than ever! After closing their Miami Lakes location a few years ago, they recently re-opened in the South Miami / Sunset area. When I went the place was packed, which is not surprising given it's a new opening with a lot of buzz. I tried the brisket empanadas, ribs, brisket and the Mac and cheese. The empanadas were simply amazing and highly recommended. I could not eat the ribs, brisket or Mac on the spot as I needed to take carry out for the wife, so I could not fairly judge each as I had to reheat the food later on and did not eat it fresh. The only downside is my gripe with Sunset as a location since you have to pay for parking pretty much in that whole area, very annoying. The staff was super friendly, I will be going back. read more

This place was amazing! We went for July 4th and to our surprise we got right in. We tried previously and it was an hour and a half wait. We were lucky to have Andres as a server and he was ready with the texas bbq recs and promised us a great time. My husband and I were fortunate enough to score an invite to the friends and family event on 4/8. I work in the area and have eagerly been keeping track of the progress of the restaurant. We loved everything about the event. The decor, music, drinks and service (Andres was amazing). That being said we were there for the food. Having visited Houston to see family a few times in the last couple of years, it was abundantly clear that although the Miami BBQ has improved, we still had a way to go. That is no longer the case. Wow, were we impressed with the food quality and taste. Everything we tried exceeded our expectations. We were making plans to come back, before the night was over. Starting with the brisket and four cheese empanada, then all the meats (pork belly brisket, brisket, ribs and half chicken) to the sides (corn, rice and beans, Mac and cheese, potato salad). Great new bbq spot in South Miami. It's impossible to not be excited by the delicious smell of smoked meat welcoming you in. The decor is cool and lively, and the service is helpful and friendly (ask for Dariel, he's great). We tried the brisket empanadas, the El Rey brisket sandwich, and then a platter with brisket, pulled pork, and pork belly. All were excellent. The beer on draft is icy cold and a perfect way to wash it all down. There aren't a lot of good bbq spots in Miami, so this is a great addition to the restaurant scene. My boyfriend and I finally tried La Traila BBQ, and we already know we'll be back! The first thing we ordered was the brisket queso fundido with chips, and WOW. This was easily one of our favorite things we ate. It was cheesy, loaded with brisket, and came out piping hot. The portion was huge too--honestly enough to share with about four people, we had leftovers. Definitely a must-order. We also tried the BBQ empanadas. They were good, and the brisket filling was flavorful, but we both felt they would've been even better with a dipping sauce to bring everything together. For our main, we got a half pound of the pulled pork, and it did not disappoint! The meat was incredibly tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The BBQ sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and smoky and paired perfectly with the pork. We also have to give a huge shoutout to our server, Hunter. He truly made our experience. Since it was our first time visiting, he took the time to walk us through the menu, answered all of our questions, and gave thoughtful recommendations. He was incredibly attentive without ever being overbearing, checked on us throughout our meal, and had such a genuine, positive attitude. Great service like that is hard to come by. The restaurant itself was spotless, had a spacious layout, a beautiful bar, and two huge TVs playing the World Cup, which made the atmosphere even better. The country music playing in the background was such a vibe and fit the restaurant perfectly. Overall, we had an amazing first visit. If you're looking for legit Texas-style BBQ with a modern vibe, this spot absolutely delivers. It feels like a place you can bring clients, family, or just kick back after a long day. Now the food... The meat tray was the highlight. The brisket was tender, juicy, and had that perfect bark with a deep smoky flavor--exactly what you want. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone without being overcooked, and the turkey was surprisingly one of the best parts--super moist and flavorful (which is rare). You can tell everything is done right, low and slow. Sides held their own too. The Texas Style Creamed Corn was creamy and rich, and the pickles/onions added the perfect balance to cut through the richness of the meat. Sauces were solid, but honestly, the meat didn't even need it. Service was quick and friendly, and the whole place runs efficiently without feeling rushed. I wish there was a way to give this restaurant more stars. EVERYTHING about it was wonderful. First, you can smell the meat from half a block away. YUM! The atmosphere is more upscale than the typical barbecue place. The young women who greeted us at the door and engaged and thanked us on the way out, the server (Rob) and the manager (Jo Jo) were exceptional. They could not do enough for us. When the cook felt the corn was not up to par and he would not send it out, our server wanted to give us anything on the menu to make up for it. When we refused, he insisted on bringing us dessert. When the ribs weren't hot enough and we just wanted them put in the microwave, he insisted on bringing new ribs. And so it went. As for the food... I have never had such tender and flavorful brisket. The cornbread was over-the-top which its touch of sweet potato (trust me, it works) and the dab of honey butter. The fries were crispy. When the check came we were blown away at how reasonable it was, especially in today's economy. I live in Broward and my friend in Boynton Beach. This restaurant has been open less than a month and I am so glad I found them. This was the best bbq I've had in years! Way better than Apocalypse which everyone raves about. La Traila will give them more than a run for their money. La Traila will leave them in its dust. We were promptly greeted and seated. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Our waitress Jojo was on point, knowledgeable, and efficient. She made suggestions but we kind of got a little of everything lol. My husband started with the quesadilla which he raved about it having just the right amount of smoke and spice. For our entree I got the carnitas and he got brisket. Our sides were creamed corn, mac and cheese, and sweet potato cornbread. Everything was brought out quickly and was fresh and hot. My carnitas were perfectly seasoned and the brisket was tender and falling apart as you ate it. Jojo told us they only season with salt and pepper and smoke it all day in their outdoor smoker. Whatever recipe and seasoning they are using, all I can say is WOW! Their BBQ sauce was the perfect complement to the meat. The cornbread was hot, soft, and moist and served with an ample portion of butter. Both sides were delicious. The creamed corn was on the thinner side but the flavor was on point. Party of 7 on Mother's Day- new restaurant- we took the chance- well worth it ! We got there and they told us that it was going to be a 30 minute wait, which wasn't bad considering that you can wait by the bar. It ended up being much less. They're not fully stocked liquor wise yet they only had Modelo beers. The cocktails were good, but I had it twice made by 2 different bar tenders and the same drink tasted a lot sweeter made by one bartender than then other. The place was super humid due too so much in and out and high volume of people so the carpets were a great addition but I still almost ate it twice. They should also add a carpet in the bathroom especially under the hand dryer as it was all wet and I almost ate it there too. These comments are strictly constructive criticism and by every means are understandable that they are just figuring things out. Everyone from the waitress which was a lady with a buzz cut, manager, bar tenders and staff were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. They all asked multiple times if all was good. The FOOD is the showstopper. I was disappointed that cornbread and banana pudding was sold out but that just means I need to come back !! THE RIBS are one of the best I've ever had !! We also had the opportunity to chat with the Chef, who shared the process behind the food and the amount of hard work and dedication the team puts into every dish. You can truly taste that passion in every bite. Everything we ordered was memorable, and full of flavor. What impressed us most is that there honestly wasn't a single negative thing to mention -- and that's rare these days. Great food is hard to find. Great service is hard to find. La Traila delivered both at an elite level. South Miami absolutely has a gem on its hands with this place. The food is Texas BBQ and the chef is from Texas which makes this place way more appealing than your run of the mill BBQ spot. The esquites and meats were delicious and the portions were generous.
