I definitely understand the hype about Apocalypse BBQ!!! I've been wanting to try this place for years and finally got around to it a couple weeks ago! The evening we stopped by, Yelp was down and people were not able to join their waitlist virtually which caused the line to be even longer. But the staff were kind and passed out fries to those some of the people who were waiting outside. After a nearly 2 hour wait, we were seated and our server was great. The other servers and staff came to check on our table and the other tables around us multiple times as well, so overall I would say the restaurant gives really good service. They did well with making the decor fit the theme of the restaurant, even down to the faucets and knobs of the bathroom sinks. We were a little confused about the very loud electronic music that was playing throughout, but it didn't take away from our experience. My cousin and I ordered a half rack of cafecito ribs, the prime brisket, pulled pork, cowboy link, corn bread, coleslaw, French fries, mac & cheese and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. The food was served within a matter of minutes which was great as we were very hungry after waiting a couple of hours, but it was also confusing because you would think the wait times wouldn't be so long if the service is so fast. Our favorite bites were definitely the cowboy link, pulled pork, coleslaw, cornbread & chocolate chip cookie, so you should definitely give those a try, but you can't go wrong because everything we ordered was delicious. The only thing I probably wouldn't reorder was the mac and cheese because it was just okay. Overall a great experience and if you're craving BBQ food, don't mind a little wait, and are in the area, I highly recommend giving Apocalypse a try! Very very tasty!! The cafecito ribs are rubbed in cafecito for example. The brisket bacon (starter) is pork belly that is seasoned like a brisket but fried like bacon! After participating in a Yelp event last year for its sister restaurant, LaLa's, I finally had the full Apocalypse experience. And what better way to do your first run than to have your homies invite you out for your birthday! Pulled up on a Friday night at 8pm, no resy. There was a minimal wait (literally all of 10 mins total) and was offered a free beer while I waited, an Outlaw light from Colorado, which was actually pretty good. Got sat in the booth right in middle of joint and it was off to the races lol. This spot offers cocktails to get your appetite going, and make most ingredients that are going into your drinks in-house. All of the cocktails we had were good, which everyone was happy about. I started with an Atomic Passion, which was Mezcal and Passionfruit, followed by the Flamed Guava (also Mezcal). My friends had the Smoked Ember OF, and the Lavender Lady. For the chowdown, here's what we ordered: - Smoked Wings - Cafecito Ribs (Half-Rack) - 1lb Brisket - Cornbread Skullz (3) - Elote - Potato Salad - Baked Beans - Coleslaw - Kids burger con papitas Mac & Cheese was sold out unfortunately, but that just means we'll have to come back for it. Brisket and the potato salad were my favorite things out of the order. On a solo mission I would definitely order those two things again. Cornbread was as good as I had heard, also enjoyed the ribs. The "cafecito" touch was nice, don't recall seeing that anywhere else. The pickles get an honorable mention because they was PICKLING! They low-key tasted like cucumbers but sweet-ish. Look to be honest this place is a 6.5 out of 10. I loved the empanadas, the pull pork was finger licking good. No the corn bread was meh, I would prefer they put the honey on the side. The bacon brisket wasn't ny fav either and the mac and cheese was good but make sure you eat it fast because if ir gets cold it isn't as good. First things first HOLY MOLY! The staff is incredible, treating you like family, making sure you're happy with everything and attending to you pretty often. The inside is cozy giving old school diner vibes but with a modern twist. The food is divine, there wasn't a single item I wouldn't recommend. We finally decided to brave the lines and try this very popular place. The good thing is that although they don't take reservations, they allowed us to get on the wait list online. But, we still had to wait an hour. They're very nice, they have free water and you're able to order drinks while you wait. But, as expected, the food (although very good) was not worth the wait. We ordered the platter and the meat was dry. The corn was delicious and so was the mac & cheese. The service was very friendly, and the food actually came out pretty quickly once we finally sat down. I just love this place and always have a good experience. I sat at the bar this time. I joined the yelp waitlist ahead of time which was super helpful. There were 2 seats at the bar so we decided to sit immediately instead of waiting. It was around 7pm on a Saturday and it was about a 25 min wait. The cocktails are tasty and made to order. I love the cafecito ribs. The cornbread is good, though not my favorite as I find it a little dry. The pulled pork provides a really nice portion and it's very tender. You have Live Mariachi trio performing at 7pm . You have $5 margaritas and they have a few other excellent cocktails as well which Humos makes. Been there quite a few times and have some favorites. The lamb taco is a welcomed addition to their lineup, so savory good. Wow this is a great treat. Creamy smooth lamb, pineapple sweet with a peppery kick. Definitely savor the flavors in the mouth don't swallow, no woofing it down. The smoked portobello taco is uniquely different and has wonderful smoked flavor and holds it's own! The Chicken Timba is a spicy taco which you could take out the jalapeños for less spiciness. The Pork taco is incredibly soft meat. Lastly on my favorite list if the Birria taco. Aside from that I'd skip Brisket taco amd the Ribs and focus more on things like their corn bread or hold off for their ridiculously delicious dessert: cornbread churros! We went on a weekday and even though it was pretty busy, the wait was short and we were seated quickly. The only downside was the service at the start--it took a while for someone to come by and get us started on drinks and then to actually receive our drinks and then take our food order. It's with real disappointment that I'm writing this review. My first visit was incredible--I couldn't stop talking about it, you could see it below in a previous review; So much so that when my friends from Texas came to town, I insisted we come here for dinner. Unfortunately, everything went wrong from the start. One person from our group arrived early and put her name on the waitlist and was told the wait would be about 35 minutes. We all arrived on time, yet we ended up waiting nearly an hour and a half. When we finally asked, we were told there had been a system change or some sort of issue that caused the delay. Our party of eight was seated in the back room near the restrooms, which was uncomfortably cold--freezing, honestly. It was so bad that we had to go back to our cars to get our jackets. One bright spot was our server. One member of our group knew her, and she was fantastic: attentive, knowledgeable, and quick. Unfortunately, the food didn't match the service. Everything came out cold. I was especially excited to try the ribs, and they were a huge letdown. Even the cornbread--usually my favorite--was hard as a rock. The extreme air conditioning may have played a role, but either way, the food was not enjoyable. No one in our group left happy, which is really unfortunate given how highly I spoke of this place based on my first visit. Sadly, this experience completely missed the mark. read more

A great bbq place. We loved the backyard feels when we approached the host stand and were greeted with a free beer or water. Everyone was friendly and attentive here and we appreciate their charisma. The restaurant itself was loud when we went so you'll have to speak up. The menu is a la carte so nothing comes with a side. The 4 stars are because we found the sides overpriced for their size. One individual corn bread was $7. Though the flavor was great, it was too dense (probably from the mold it's made in to make that special skull shape). I tried to order from door dash then Uber Eats and then I went to their website, there is only one way to order to go and that's to come in person, and order Togo. I'm confused on that part but anyway. The corn bread was so good. I got 1/2 portion of the ribs. The ribs were very meaty and tender the Mac and cheese was trash lol. I didn't go inside but it was packed and the wait was an hour and half . And people still signed up to wait. Me personally I wouldn't. I know some unnamed spots in miami with the really good stuff. Amazing BBQ we ordered the PLATTER wow 1lb of pulled pork, 1/2 rack cafecito ribs and 1/2 lb of brisket Came with two corn breads, cole slaw and French fries we also upgraded the corn to the elote. This was an absolutely delicious Saturday night dinner! We got in line at 7 PM and the super friendly hostess told us it would be about 30 to 45 minutes for a party of two. For our sides which are individually priced we ordered, cornbread, coleslaw, baked beans, mac & cheese. EVERYTHING was outstanding! Really great sauce on the ribs and the brisket was cooked to perfection very tender. All of the sides were seasoned perfectly. The coleslaw did not have too much mayo or vinegar It was a perfect balance. The mac & cheese was creamy and had great flavor. The cornbread had bits of corn inside which we loved ( and such a fun shape) The portion sizes were so big that we took home lots of extras! Can't wait to go back and try some of the other menu items as right now for the season they do have a turkey club and of course the burgers that passed by for other tables also looked delicious . The place was not packed last Wednesday so we didn't experience any long waits. Timing is everything. Our food came out within a reasonable time. We were all excited as the dishes were laid out on our table by Daniel, our super attentive server with the nice smile. He is definitely an asset to the Apocalypse diner.
