A hidden gem!!! Despite the tough decision of what place to pick between Madrono and Spotted Gallo, this one won! The service was excellent, the place impeccable for such a busy small place. For a Tuesday night it was super busy and full of life, celebrations, intimate dinners and big family dining. Now the food, this was next level everything I love about Nicaraguan food without it being greasy or oily. We tried the taquitos, fried cheese, gallo pinto, churrasco and the delicious desserts. 100% must go.

Best Nicaraguan restaurant in my opinion. Place is always packed. Expect to wait a bit. Very family oriented and staff were very welcoming and attentive. This Churasco Steak was extremely juicy and tender. The whole experience is everything that i expected and more. Highly recommend.

Fantastic all around! Service was A++ Food 10 out of 10! If you want authentic Nica food but wish for a more elevated experience different from a Fritanga head over to Madroño. They been here well over 20 years and the love for Nicaragua shows! Love showing love for my roots and let's face it the food is BOMB! Parking is easy, a well worth the trip from Miami Gardens to SW Miami. It's spacious, and clean inside. A must!

Amazing experience. I ordered the Indio Viejo, a dish I grew up eating that my grandmother used to make, and this is the first time I've had it outside of Nicaragua. It was absolutely delicious and brought back so many memories. Service was great and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. I'll definitely be back.

Description This is a Nicaraguan restaurant that we went to which was actually recommended to me by Nicaraguans when I was trying to find a good fritanga place. What I ordered We ordered a kids meal for my son and we decided to order the appetizer platter which comes with a little bit of everything. The food was very good and my husband liked it as well the platter comes with different meats, fried cheese, refried beans, gallo pinto amongst other things. I would go back and order this again. Value The price of the platter was 50$ but we still had left overs for the next day. I think it's a good price if two were able to eat from it and still have left overs. Ambiance/Crowd The restaurant has nice table cloths for all the tables and a nice set up. It looks classy over all but when we we went they were doing constructions or renovation so they did have part of the restaurant blocked off Service The service was good over all no complaints. Parking I went during the week and parking wasn't too bad but it is in a shared parking lot of a shopping center with other stores nearby but parking is free. 5 year olds thought corner He really liked the place and it might be biased due to the little toy he was given which he even named but he also liked his food which was similar to chicken bites with rice and fries and also like the cacao.

I like this Nicaraguan place!! The food is excellent and the service cumple mis expectativas. The menu is varied and the price not expensive. El servicio al cliente excelente, recomiendo altamente este lugar.

Always outstanding food, service and family atmosphere. If you are in the mood for great food with fresh ingredients, this is the place. Highly recommend!

Celebration fee and transaction fee? Scams

I would like to start off by saying that I am from Nicaragua and I have been coming to this restaurant for years. The service is always great, the place is clean and the food is always good. Yesterday, my family and I visited Madroño restaurant as a party of 7 for my son's birthday, who loves the food and their birthday celebration. Everything was fine until the waiter brought our check. My husband quickly noticed a charge for the dessert of $11.75 which is fine because we are consuming it, but then also an additional charge of $5.25 for "celebration." What is this charge? For them coming and throwing stringers and the candle? They don't even sing, the music plays in the background. Since when do restaurants charge for bringing you your charged dessert with a sparkler candle and putting a birthday song on? I find this to be in very poor taste especially that it is not disclosed when you say it's a birthday. Furthermore, as we are looking at the bill we see a "transaction processing fee." At first I thought it may have been the famous 3%-4% service fee if you use a credit card, but we also noticed that after the fee it included taxes and gratuity. So what exactly is this "transaction processing fee?" is this a fee for me eating at your restaurant? Like I said, I've been coming here for years and I know that the manager is the only one behind the register are we paying his salary? Is that what the fee is? As you look down on the bill it separates the cost if you pay cash or credit card but the transaction fee and taxes are still included. I would like the owners of this restaurant to know that they have lost myself and family as customers. Your greedy tactics and dishonest charges has caused this to go from a wonderful mom and pop restaurant to a simple business where new and loyal customers are blinded by charges. While I understand the cost of living has increased and the cost of groceries and food items, I do not understand the abuse of your "transactions". These fees are wrong and probably illegal. For any other customers, please check your bills very carefully.

Pablo II dessert: tres leches cake topped with Pio Quinto's custard

The food here is always excellent, however they don't take reservations so there is always the risk of a very long wait (we were initially told 30-40 minutes) or simply being to capacity as it is always very full and it's easy to understand why: food is great all around with big portions (salad and two sides are included with each entree) and the price point is lower than in most restaurants in Miami. Appetizer: fried cheese with tajadas (fried plantain chips in strips) and ensalada de repollo (cole slaw salad--more like a fresher-tasting sauerkraut). Churrasco is always a classic choice. Although Churrasco in Nicaragua is typically a better cut of meat, in Miami--including El Madroño--it is made from skirt steak--the Argentine way. Not the same higher quality as in Nicaragua but it satisfies and here it is seasoned in way that doesn't even need Nicaraguan Chimichurri (a bit different than the Argentine version). Pollo Norteño (grilled chicken with achiote seasoning): the server suggested "a la placha" versus "a la parrilla" because it would be juicier. It was true though "a la parrila would have had those wonderful grilled flavors. Over all it was very good. Side rice was very good, same with the Cole slaw, and maduro plantains were perfect. Dessert: Pablo Segundo: a combination of Pio Quinto (named after a saint Pope) and tres leches (tres leches cake topped with Pio Quinto's custard)--a better version of the Tres Leches although like most tres leches it was too sweet and difficult to eat. However it's a large portion and perfect for sharing with others. The only problem was that they topped with a cute decorative dove but we weren't sure if it was edible--and technically restaurants shouldn't put anything in food that isn't edible as it can confuse the consumer. Cacao: Nicaraguan chocolate milk made from chocolate's purest form (cacao) and laced with cinnamon and vanilla. Excellent version here and worth stopping at the side pastry section to order it to go. Pastries: a good assortment among the best are pastelitos de pollo (mini chicken pies), pastelitos de piña (mini pineapple pies available in fried and baked versions), pico suave (bread triangle "beaks" filled with sweetened cheese). All in all good experience, great service, white table cloth tables and restrained minimalist decor. They would de well to expand their restaurant size to accommodate more patrons.

He recommended a couple of places but we decided this was the closest to us and so we came here. At first glance it doesn't look very appealing from the outside but once you go inside you know your are in the right place. It was packed with people picking up to go orders and on the other side of the place was a huge line of people waiting to order. The line moves pretty fast .We didn't know what to order so we asked the gentleman in front of us what he normally gets. He told us a few of his favorites and so we sort of knew what to get. So you get to the front of the line and it's sort of like Panda Express you tell them what you want from the food in the containers. I chose gallo pinto which is rice and beans mixed together and also got fried pork which sort of tasted like Al pastor and I also got something that is similar to ropa vieja. My husband got the black beans and carne asada with a tortilla. Oh and they have queso frito which we both had .I also got fried plantains and we ordered a manuelita which is like a pancake with something sweet it tastes like pancake with lots of syrup, but not overly sweet. One of the workers came to or table and brought us something that was round almost like a small donut hole. Except it was dough and not to sweet . She said she didn't want us to leave without trying it. I am so happy that we got out of our comfort zone and decided to come and try this food. It was so good. Oh I almost forgot that they also serve you a salad not really a salad it's cabbage and carrots in a vinegar sauce. ( sort of the cabbage that goes on top of Pupusas) and they also have us a sauce which was not that spicy at all but it ha little pieces of diced carrots ana onion . I won't lie that I came home and started to look for Nicaraguan food places in my city. Because it was so good.
