carne asada with rice beans and plantains

I love that it's sit down place with real silverware. We are very used to fritangas with takeout boxes and plastic ware when we eat Nicaraguan cuisine. Food was DELICIOUS and lots of it. So flavorful!!! Wish we had them closer to where I live.

I returned and this time I had the carne asada with gallopinto and maduros. It was delicious. The meat was cooked to perfection. For dessert, I had the pilloquinto which was good. It's a very wet cake on the bottom with a custard on top. The service was okay. We did have to ask for more water and when we ask for additional hot sauce, it was not brought to us. However, I would still return.

Hi Yelps! I have been coming to cerro negro since I was a little girl and majority of my life this spot hits home. Authentic Nicaragua food. The menu items are endless and the breakfast are delicious. I mainly only go for breakfast and I'll order the eggs with chorizo, fried cheese and signature gallopinto. The carne asada is another delicious choice! the restaurant is very small, crowded and tight in space (stroller and wheelchair) are acceptable but I will say it's a tough maneuver. The service is excellent always! food comes out quick, hot and I would high recommend a Milca soda or Carrot/Orange juice. That's my favorite - so refreshing and extremely healthy. It's sweet! not bitter. The nacatamales are another great dish choice! Reminds me of my grandmother's. I will say sundays and Saturday expect a wait! during the morning!

The food, plentiful, tasty, and surprisingly inexpensive. Comida típica Nicaragüense. The service fast and attentive. Ambiance is a combination of Cuban (it's Miami), and Nicaragua. Our waitress was Cuban, most of the guests Nicaraguan!

Good food: Bandeja doesn't disappoint as it has a bit of different things to try. For three of us (moderate appetites) it was enough food. Dessert, Pio Quinto, is well-made here. This is a rum-soaked cake topped with custard. There are plenty of tables and stools in the bar area. The bar area has two TVs making it a good spot to watch a soccer/basketball/football game while you eat or snack on small bites.

If you are craving Nicaraguan food , this is the place ! Located in southwest Miami . Small restaurant that usually is busy on the weekends . The prices are affordable and the size of the dishes are decent . Have been coming with my family for over 10 years and love it !

This is a pretty good lunch spot, for about $12 you can get a decent sized portion. Carne asada, plantain chips, rice and beans (Gallo pinto) as Nicaraguans call it. Food was good service is ok.

Bandeja- galló pinto, tajadas, tortillas, yuca, nacatamal, tacos, pollo, carne asada, queso frito, costillas, cerdo, chicarrón

We started with melon and dragonfruit drinks which were like aguas frescas. For starters we tried the Taquitos and Chancho con Yucca and they were excellent. The pork tenderloin chunks in the Chancho were done well and had a tasty coating of spices. We loved the chopped cabbage. We also liked the pulled beef in the Taquitos. The fried beans were creamy and delicious. In fact, everything on our plates was delicious! For mains, we had the Fajitas de Carne and Lengua en Salsa. Both were very good. I haven't had a tamale in a while so I decided to try the Indio Maiz; the sweet corn was good as was the sour cream and soft cheese. Yum. I really enjoyed Maranos. I may have been the only gringo in the place :).

The portions were good in comparison to Los Ranchos and the steak was extremely flavorful and soft. They also have a selection of sauces for the steak or your meal. The service was great. Our only complaint was that they served canned beverages. If you are somebody that drinks a lot of soda, the bill can quickly get expensive. We love Nicaraguan food and frequently dine at other places but this restaurant by far is the best. The wait can be long on the weekends with larger parties so just be aware of that.

They boast both indoor and outdoor seating with the same aesthetic and nods to Colombian culture, like the cute hats and sandals hanging on the wall. We were seated inside fairly quickly on the Sunday afternoon we came in. They were pretty busy, but the waiters were kind of hanging out at the bar, just chit-chatting. We were able to get one of the servers to look at us after a couple of minutes of sitting there. They brought us a little palate-opener of a small portion of a simple soup. They had a margarita special we tried, $5 frozen margaritas. The maracuya (passion fruit) one was a solid choice. I also ordered the mojarra frita with white rice, tostones, and salad. The rice was really undercooked. The waiter tried to appease us by bringing us more of the same uncooked rice. We were not the only table to say something about it because our neighbors confirmed they too received the same and were also unhappy. Other than that, the rest of my meal was great. However, I will say my mom was very upset with her experience and expressed that her chicken wasn't prepared well either.
