I was in the area with Cuban relatives around lunch time and obviously Cuban food was the go to! We decided to try el rinconcito cubano and sat outside to enjoy the nice weather that day and also there were loose roosters which we enjoyed as well. Our server was nice and friendly but the food was just ok. Also they do an extra charge if you request a to go box. I'm not sure we would come here again.

Where do I start? Everything was just perfect. Service is fantastic! The food wonderful and the coffee! Just an amazing dinner.

    The steak.

Cuban food is well outside my wheelhouse, but after this dinner, I'm a fan. The relatively low rating only comes because the steak was thin, grisly, and tough. I think if I'd ordered something different, they'd have been five stars. In other words, avoid the steak. But the seasonings, and everything else on the plate, were first rate. If you're hungry for Cuban food, I do recommend this place.

Some of the best Cuban food in Miami, a hidden gem amongst all the other countless restaurants

I enjoyed rinconcito cubano. The service was quick, especially for a Sunday and during brunch time (11:30am)! It is located in the corner of a strip mall, and because of its corner placement, you do not feel the overall "busyness" of the other businesses. The food overall was good, it was not "the best Cuban style food in Miami", but it got the job done in terms of satisfying my desire for a simple Cuban breakfast. My partner ordered the vaca frita, and it was fine. Nothing to write home about... and it was not his favorite vaca frita. He gave it 3 stars overall. My plantain omelette was fine, it was not as fluffy as I would have liked it, but it was fine. 3.5 stars. The Cuban toast was good, the bread was fresh and nicely toasted with just the right amount of butter. 5 stars. The café con leche was delicious! I took an extra cup to-go 5 stars. Between the service, price, free parking, and overall food quality I rated this establishment a solid 3.9 and rounded up to 4 stars. I would come back for their Cuban toast and cafe con leche, which is a 'go-to' in Cuban culture. It's a an overall good Cuban spot for the Sweetwater-Flagler area.

My husband and I stop by for a quick snack in the afternoon. In Sweetwater, there is a cafe in every corner. We didn't know which one to pick. There were big name brand bakeries and cafes but I wanted to try somewhere small and unique. Yelp helped us find it. We had ham qroquetas and cortadito. Qroquetas were big and warm. I liked the flavor but nothing really special. Cortadito was tasty and my husband's cafesito was good too. It was just from outside window but next time, I want to try their food.

It was lunch time and the place was actually empty so we were skeptical but gave it a try anyways. Definitely looks like a family owned and family-run restaurant. The menu has a lot of choices. I believe the main dishes were only available for dinner so we went with the breakfast and lunch option. Steak, egg, toast, coffee- hubby got this breakfast special and the portion was huge! Look at the plate. It was a big slice of steak, 2 eggs (scrambled) fries, a side of bread and a cup of coffee. We could have totally shared the one entree and be full for 2 people! The price definitely beats the portion. Steak sandwich- I got the sandwich which was also big in portion. It came with chips fries on top. The sandwich had onions and lettuce, tomatoes. It may not be the tastiest meal but it def satisfied our belly and our wallet. The service was great. The guy who took our order was very nice and the lady seems like she didn't speak a lot of English. The food was not salty so more on the bland side so you can definitely dress it up with sauce. We would definitely stop by here again if in town to try their dinner menu. Price definitely is great for budget friendly people :)

All paired with white rice, and black beans.

Located right off the main stretch of Calle Ocho, this place stays busy for a reason. We had about a 45-minute wait, but honestly it didn't even feel like it. Once inside, the restaurant is massive with multiple dining rooms, but it still keeps that lively, classic Cuban vibe. Luisa took great care of us--super friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the experience better. We kicked things off with the yuca croquettes (crispy, flavorful, gone in seconds) and went all in on the paella Valenciana. Big portions, packed with flavor, and perfect for sharing. Located a couple of blocks off a major road (Washington Ave.), Las Olas Cafe felt like a hole-in-the wall neighborhood joint - a team of off-duty police officers were enjoying their dinner inside the restaurant, and families were eagerly lined up at the to-go window outside the restaurant. As I waited in line to order, I perused the menu, which included breakfast items, coffee, and a variety of sandwiches. Even though there were only a couple of customers ahead of me in line, each meal was made-to-order before the next order was taken. This meant that the staff prepared about half a dozen coffees, a couple of smoothies, and several meals before it was my turn to order. When I finally placed my order for a Cubano sandwich, I waited about 20 minutes for my food to be prepared. My sandwich was served piping hot, and I eagerly took my food to go so I could enjoy it at the beach nearby. Despite the wait (about an hour from the time I arrived at the cafe despite the short line), my food was delicious. The sandwich was stuffed with crispy shredded pork and ham, and a generous amount of mustard, melted cheese, and pickles pulled it all together.

The Cubano was stuffed with moist roasted pork and ham with pickles and melted cheese. The spicy garlicky green sauce that comes with it could make an old shoe delicious ! We ordered a ton, and right off the bat: if you love croquetas and empanadas, order extra. They're on the smaller side and come individually, but they are so good they disappear fast. The beef empanadas were a 10/10 perfectly seasoned and crispy. The chicken empanadas didn't hit the same for me, but the jamón croquetas? Absolutely insane. A must. For appetizers, the prawns al ajillo were delicious super flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also tried the grilled octopus, which was good, but not my favorite. It leaned a bit bland for my taste, even with the sauce. Now, the must-get: the carnitas with pickled onions. Easily one of the best dishes of the night so flavorful, tender, and perfectly balanced. For entrées, we had the ribeye steak and arroz con pollo, plus sides of tostones and yuca. Everything here delivered. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned just right not overly salty. The arroz con pollo was phenomenal, the kind of dish you could eat every single day. The tostones were crispy and tossed in garlic, which took the flavor to another level, and the yuca was melt-in-your-mouth good. I also ordered a mojito, which unfortunately was very watered down, I barely got any of that classic mojito flavor. Service overall was solid, especially considering how loud the restaurant gets it was honestly hard to hear each other at the table, so shoutout to our server for keeping everything straight. The appetizers came out quickly, back-to-back, which we loved. The only downside was the wait for the entrées they took quite a while after we finished the apps, even though we ordered everything at once.
