Had time to kill before my next Miami Film Festival flick. Looked around Yelp and saw a green bean salad and was sold. Pulled-up to a DJ, t-shirt vendor and cool vibes. Per my usual attitude my first time somewhere, I wanted to try several items. The owner was super nice and gave multiple suggestions. I ended-up trying a really affordable wing special that comes with rice and beans, slaw, plantain chips and I added mac. I also added brisket, and that came with slaw. The green bean salad comes in one size as an add-on. Okay first, the owner is clearly magic, because there isn't a grill in sight. I had no intention of ordering wings, but these are seriously the best wings I've had anywhere, in a long time (100/10). The rice and beans (10/10), and the rice smelled like it came from abuelita's kitchen. The slaw, oh my goodness (100/10), so simple, and yet perfect! I thought the chips were unnecessary . . . NOT! These are delicious (10/10) and 100% belonged on my plate. The mac . . . well, you can't win 'em all. The brisket was good (9/10) and the sauce is mustard-based, just like I like it, but the star is what got me there, the green bean salad! This was a fresh, exciting dish that is like nothing you've ever had (1,000/10), I won't describe the ingredients here, because I think you should be surprised. I can't wait to go back. The BBQ was outstanding with an incredible atmosphere, and the chef and family were warm, welcoming, and very accommodating. The brisket is an absolute must--rich in flavor, incredibly tender and juicy, and honestly some of the best I've ever had. The ribs were thick, meaty, and delicious on their own, but even better with the Slab Daddy sauce. The smoked chicken wings were phenomenal--packed with flavor and good sized. This was a decent stop but a bit of a mixed experience for us. It is close to my house so my boyfriend and I figured why not, especially since it was a perfect day to sit outside. It is a food truck with outdoor seating and we went around noon. We ordered the tray for two and the cornbread with jalapeno honey butter was hands down the best part, absolutely delicious. The ribs and meats had good flavor but everything felt like it could have been hotter and fresher, almost like it had been sitting for a bit before being reheated. Awesome BBQ just outside of Wynwood. When we walked in the owner greeted us and gave his suggestions. (I had heard about the place from a friend that recommended it but every time i was in the area it was outside of their business hours) The owner recommended that we do the plate for 2 that way we could get a sampling of multiple options... so that what we went with. I ordered catering for thanksgiving and was blown away. Everything was super delicious and was impressed at the quality. To be honest I was not thinking I would live the turkey so much but it was my favorite. There is no other way I can have it if it's not from here. As a self proclaimed bbq connoisseur, I can say Slab Daddy SLAPS! I took one star off because my brisket arrived a little dry as well as my mac and cheese. Now I know Mac is not something that should be judged when ordering BBQ, but it is often a complimentary side that usually takes the meal over the top and this wasn't the case as it was missing moisture, but still very tasty! My brisket was also extremely good, it was just dry, and not moist, but still very tender and great flavor! The pork ribs were very good, a little high priced for 2 ribs at $15 but that's what you get with the convenience of delivery. The sides of rice and beans and pickled slaw were also very complimentary but the cornbread was a sneaky top favorite! Although I ordered delivery everything was prepared and delivered very quickly, still warm and packaged nicely with a thank you note on the bag!! But as we waited, we were treated to some delicious watermelon on the house. The food then came out and we were treated to a symphony of sights and smells. I immediately packed my plate with a bit of everything. Brisket, cucumber and pineapple salad, pork, ribs, wings, Mac and cheese, rice and beans, and delicious corn bread. Every single thing was perfectly seasoned. The food was all hot and fresh. The brisket was so juicy and tender that it broke as I picked it up. The ribs were juicy and tender and full of flavor. The wings were crispy on the outside and nice and juicy on the inside. The pork was delicious and tender. The salad was refreshing in between bites of meat, the Mac and cheese was MOIST. The rice was perfect as were the beans. The cornbread was top notch and out of this world. Adrian is an amazing owner who is extremely hands on in the best ways possible. He has this frenetic energy that is simply infectious. He alone made the experience 5 Star experience. Tried Slabdaddy today. The food was . The food was great. All the meat was very tender , but my favorite was the carnitas. It had a very home cooked taste. Everything was excellent without the sauce , but damn that sauce put everything over the top.
