This Jamaican restaurant is more of the open pit barbecue style jerk and I love it. They have ribs, curry goat and oxtail but I judge every Jamaican restaurant by their jerk chicken. This one passes the test easily. The jerk chicken with rice and peas is stellar. The cabbage is good and their secret weapon is the fresh corn on the cob. Great place overall! read more

Service was absolutely on point. I ordered a jerk chicken lunch, which comes with rice & peas and cabbage. The chicken was decent, all dark meat, I love the skin, it was appropriately "charred"'for the lack of a better word, and tasty, the order was accompanied with a small container of jerk sauce, which I used sparingly so I could try and help out the rice. The cabbage was sorely in need of seasoning as did the rice. I love me some cabbage and I love absolutely rice&peas but neither of these measured up to make this an above average lunch. Stumbled on this and thank god we did! There was a little line but the staff was fast and we got to the front in less then 5mins, we ordered a regular pork jerk and a regular brisket both with rice beans and cabbage sos for the spicy sauce. Let me telllll you don't sleep if you are by this area. The staff was friendly and quick and the food was delicious!! The pork was juicy and yummy the rice was so tasty, the cabbbbage was lovely it had all the flavors in there! The best part was the food wasn't omg unbearable spicy, it was a tasteful spice which was reallly pleasant. The price is right and the food is divine. For those two meals we paid $50 plus two waters and a ginger ale. We also shared between 3 people!! I called before placing a delivery order and they had everything in stock on a Sunday evening which was pretty exciting!! Service was quick too! Smoked meat = amazing! They truly know how to smoke all different kinds of meat and you feel like you're at the yard in Jamaica, first bite. From first to last in my opinion: 1: Oxtails rice and peas and steamed cabbage- fire, flavorful, spicy but tolerable. If you are eating at a Jamaican restaurant prepare for spice! Everything was perfectly prepared! 2: Brisket - tender, juicy, lean and fatty burnt ends and all. Perfectly cooked and pairs well with their side of bbq sauce and large portion!6 3: Jerk Chicken, sweet potatoes and collard greens. Ok, so I could of passed on this entire plate. Unfortunately the chicken was dried out but edible, and the best part of the plate. The collards were flavorless but had a lot of cayenne pepper on them and 2 slices of sweet potatoes were just boiled and no flavor. 4: mac and cheese. Dried out unfortunately, very hard to find a good moist Mac at bbq spots but it def needs love. (Heavy cream or condensed milk will do the trick!) My wife and I have been patrons for several years, since long before they expanded their grill and moved to the new lot. Over the years their food has been absolutely consistent. Our favorite dishes are the jerk chicken and pork ribs. Char smoked to perfection, the meat is always tender and falling off the bone. Our sides of choice are the rice and peas and the macaroni. I'm also a big fan of the greens, but they don't always have them. It's impressive how the owners persevere despite hardships of theft and fire to their equipment and truck. Come to King Jerk or like how I use to call it "the red food truck" lol. The owner is super friendly and nice and has great recommendations for your taste buds. I asked what style of ribs they use and was told full size pork spare ribs. I don't like ribs or chicken cleaver chopped as most take out places do. You can get bone chips in the meat. My order: 5 ribs with mac & cheese and potato salad. $12. Good price. Had to season the salad but mac was ok. The ribs had a good flavor but were over cooked, very charred and dried out. Too bad. This place has certainly changed over the years and the customer service I received tonight was subpar. It pains me to leave this review because I used to enjoy this place and just referred this place someone about a week ago. I used to come here and get a nice seized platter of meat. Just meat. Now it seems everything is a dinner. You have to get the two sides and if you don't it's still the same price. And I know they still do it for some because my friend guy comes here often and get the platter of meat. However when I asked, "We don't do that." I asked for my sauce to be on the side. "We don't have any containers." Things happen. I get it. You run out of stuff. I used to work in a similar establishment. However, the delivery. It's as if he wanted nothing more than to just be left alone. The young lady that's usually in the front must've left to go somewhere so he was in charge of taking orders and fixing plates. I got the ribs and chicken dinner. Tonight the meat was not seasoned like it typically is. It tasted like grilled meat and nothing more. Not what I was expecting. I didn't like the macaroni salad but that's on me I thought it was going to be tuna macaroni salad.
