Came back again- this time I brought my sister visiting from California. I was so sure she'd be pleased, unfortunately, we didn't get the same eating pleasure that I got from my first visit! This time, we showed up around 2pm, the oxtails were cooked- so she ordered the oxtails and grits, I ordered the shrimp and grits. Can I tell you how disappointed I was?!? This plate of shrimp and grits, the cream sauce looked like it had been reheated from frozen in the microwave. It looked a little curdled. I'm always down for an adventure- so I ate it. The taste wasn't bad, it just wasn't really good. Sad to say- it was mid at best. Plus, the shrimp still had the tails on. Imagine that! okay so listen the food was good, i was full my biggest downside was it did take 45 minutes to get our order out and it maybe might have been a random system error but we did wait with good music just wished the kitchen ran a bit smoother. Overall The food was good i just wished they threw some other cajun and garlic in the eggs or grits they came cheesy for sure and they tasted good simple but with some cajun powder on the chicken and a bit more seasoning i would of given 4 stars even with the long wait. But for the wait i wanted some more seasoning but their prices are very good and the food portion is good so you know what I'll come back just throw some cajun for ya girl. First of all it took 50 minutes yes 50 minutes. Once my food was ready you would think they would apologize for the wait NOPE. Soul Food time!! I was visiting the area and I was looking for some soul food so I found this place online and checked it out. I ordered the catfish sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese. The sweet potato had some type of seasoning on it that I do did not too much care for. But other than that everything else was really good. Listen I hate to do a black owned business like this but it's has been atleast 3 incons times where I came and my food wasn't right! My partner and I visited during a long layover as the spot is not far from the airport. The restaurant itself is small and seats less than 20 ppl if I had to guess. The staff was friendly and let us take our time ordering. They offer dine in, delivery, and carry out. The oxtails absolutely walked on water! They were served with creamy cheese grits and were seasoned and piping hot. We also had the fried conch and fried snapper with macaroni. Everything was delicious and I can't forget the light and refreshing watermelon drink that was like a flavored lemonade. The server, Quinisha, even helped us navigate the city during our short stay. Strong fishy smell and taste but it tastes pretty good. The Strawberry Banana pudding was the cherry on top. I like it more than the regular banana pudding because it has that tarty touch to it creating a nice balance. I was able to see the inside when I picked up my food and it looks super chill with cozy booths. Love the neon light signs and the music. The cashier was welcoming. I read reviews before deciding to eat here, so instead of ordering through UberEats or DoorDash like I normally would, I decided to go directly to the restaurant and that was the best decision I could have made. I ordered the oxtails with 2 sides (collard greens and Mac-n-cheese) and the chicken and waffles. There was about a 15 minute wait after ordering but totally worth it because the food was hot and still warm even after I made it back to my hotel. The Mac and cheese and collard greens were some of my favorites from a restaurant. Flavorful and I was sad when they were all gone. The oxtails were good but they could have been cooked a little longer because I had to pull a bit to get the meat off the bone. The fried chicken was seasoned and good but I could have done without the waffle and they messed up and didn't give me the pieces I ordered. Tip - use cash. I have to say out of all the times in the years I have ate here I have only had a issue once with them because they used boxed mashed potatoes instead of fresh (never had this issue again maybe they were out of mash that particular day and had to wing it), other than that their food is always cooked perfectly, flavorful and delicious with top tier service to match. We got dropped off at the wrong location by the Uber . We actually went to the IKrave sun shop . Needless to say when we told the manager he called the owner and can you believe the owner drove us over to the correct location . One time from Liberty City!!! Yes this is where I'm from in Miami born and raised so anything in the city as we would say i will support. Sidenote: definitely back in when you park the parking lot is small and most cars are here for IKrave and folks block you in about this food so be mindful how you park champ. We slide in and there's a small crowd of folks with most getting food to go, so we grab a spot a the bar. Menu was nice and vast i didn't even look to be honest i knew what i wanted oxtails and cheese grits . My wife ordered grilled chicken with a waffle. She said the chicken was amazing and was well seasoned. She flipped her plate lol quickly My food was so damn good i bite my lip twice tender oxtails and grits mice and creamy no lumps at all. The vibe was cool gave me a vibe as it I was chilling at my uncle's house music playing laughter and good food. I had to slow down on ordering because I was gaining more weight than I wanted because the food is so good. The ambiance is a basic diner style.
