my experience at the Miami location was quite different than my experience in Chicago, where lite-Jazz music played in the back ground, and i was able to chat with my friends and even communicate well with the waitress. Seating was also impeccable. The Miami location is the exact opposite. I went for my birthday dinner the weekend of 5/6 and was not pleased with the service, seating, music or food. the seating is too open, and me and my family was literally sat right in the front parallel to the entrance, and could not enjoy our conversation because it was so noisy from people walking in and having their own conversations- and it was just a raucous. I ordered the lamb trio which featured a crab cake, doubled eggs, and Lamb; the lamb featured no sauce and i was charged extra. MY CRAB CAKE WAS COLD, and the doubled egg mixture was adulterated, as if it had been sitting in an open refrigerated area. there was only one waitress, and she was apparently serving the entire section of people, because she went missing, and my table wen without drinks for 35 minutes, and our appetizer hadn't even arrived yet! so we were just "there" The live music was terrible !!!! So so terrible! some lady was singing and that's when we called for the check! also, we were told that the seating area nearest the door entrance/restroom area was closed, but later witness other people seated in that area. Tiana and Gabby were amazing servers. So funny thing, I came here twice in one day (not on purpose)--once for happy hour and once for a late dinner. I had Tiana for happy hour and Gabby for dinner. I've been to this concept in other cities like Dallas and DC, so I was looking forward to seeing how it translated to South Florida! Especially with how much the food scene is growing. She was super attentive, knowledgeable, and gave great recommendations. SHE made the experience better. Now for the food... overall, I wasn't impressed, especially considering the pricing . FYI: everything is à la carte, which adds up quickly. For drinks, I ordered a pornstar martini. It's not on their signature menu, but it was decent and enjoyable. For food: * The oysters (I ordered them well done) didn't come out well done. While that wasn't a huge deal, there was an odd aftertaste. * The "dream eggs" were pretty basic and didn't stand out. * I ordered lamb chops with a Caesar salad and fries. I was hoping for more side options... it was disappointing that something simple like rice isn't available unless you order a specific entrée (like the stuffed salmon, which my friend said tasted overly fishy). I love Kitchen & Koctails. After going to the Dallas location a few times while visiting there, I was so excited to find out they were opening a location in Miami. I had brunch at K+K on a Sunday with a group of girlfriends. We sat in front of the beautiful flower wall. The ambiance was perfect. It was packed but it never felt overcrowded. There was a DJ playing some hits but the music was never too loud that we couldn't have a conversation with our party. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable and kind. All I can say is give this place GRACE. It was the grand opening and you can see they are still figuring things out. We came at the time of our reservation just to be told the table wasn't ready we are welcome to sit at the bar to wait. Desiree was able to assist and recommended a few drinks. She was also giving us insight on how the day was going. Our drinks came and it was made to perfection. Although we waited for 30mins we still wanted to eat. I really enjoyed the cocktails, the gold fashion and the blackberry margarita were really good. The Dusse instead of Buffalo Trace is a really nice, smooth touch to the old fashion and it's smoked. The black berry margarita was almost like an adult kool-aid drink that takes you back to simpler times. The salmon bites weren't heavily coated and the oysters were perfect. I really enjoyed the jerk lamb chops even though my friend thought they were spicy... the sauce they toss them in is really good(I got it on the side). We had a reservation and were immediately seated on arrival. The place is spacious, with plenty of seating. Also, the ambiance is top-tier. They even had a live DJ that was playing the best music!! Went back to K + K after an amazing evening at PAMM. I walked away once again extremely pleased with the service. Sebastian was wonderful. 10/10 Tonight I was surprised when we arrived that the restaurant was pretty sparse for our 9p.m. dinner. We did get seated right away and I knew, no matter what, we were getting Fried Chicken again. I was also determined to get the Peach Cobbler that was sold out my last visit. I immediately ordered an Old Fashioned, but was encouraged to try the signature Gold Fashioned. It was a sexy, tasty take on the original. I didn't find it too sweet, but some may. 10/10 We started with Salmon Bites and these light, golden-brown nuggets of deliciousness were, in my opinion, better without the accompanying dip. 10/10 I also ordered the Jerk Chicken Noodle Soup. What is this, a joke? I'm half Asian and half Caribbean, born eating kimchi, so heat is where I thrive. Sebastian told me multiple times that the dish is spicy. Sebastian told me the dish is jerk, jerk, jerk spicy. Again, I love heat. This dish is ridiculous. All good chefs know, there's heat and spice, and then there's heat that ruins taste buds and destroys the palate for the rest of the meal. Chef seems to get real familiar with Scotch Bonnet in this dish. So it is as Sebastian described, jerk jerk. What he didn't account for is the pepper. The heat is one thing, I tried several bites, but the soup didn't have any chicken and the noodles were limp. I would rethink this dish. 1/10 (the 1 is because a "Jerk Chicken Noodle" could be so good, fingers crossed for an edit) We ordered Fried Chicken, Fried Catfish and Collard Greens. The Fried Chicken was a bit salty and the sharp, clean heat I enjoyed the first time wasn't there. It was still moist, crispy and crunchy. 7/10 The Collard Greens did have that beautiful, lingering smoke that I enjoy, but they were a bit softer than last time 9/10. We did get the Peach Cobbler and Banana Pudding 100/10, both are really divine. I decided to add a side of vanilla ice cream after tasting the cobbler, and waited for an odd amout of time before it arrived. The heat from the cobbler was gone, but I did enjoy a couple more bites just the same, live and learn. Tonight the music was good, no live DJ. There was a photographer at $25 a framed photo. If you're coming here prepare to spend a lot for what you get. -Music: They played the same 10 Motown songs for over 3 hours (My Girl, Baby Love, War, etc). I love oldies but they definitely needed more variety. Adding some 90s r&b would have been perfect for the vibe. At 4pm they started playing modern music like Future. I was fortunate enough to have been able to attend Kitchen + Kocktails VIP opening night. Let me tell you, it definitely didn't disappoint! The line to get in was long with people dressed to the nines to try out Miami's new soul food hotspot. Once inside you can't help but notice the signature red rose wall, absolutely beautiful! They have two large bar areas, a stage for live music and lots of ample space to sit and eat. Since we were VIP guest that night, we were treated to sampling different foods off of their menu. We were served, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, lamb chops, southern fried catfish, honey hot chicken, trinity egg rolls, dream eggs with blackened shrimp and banana pudding. We also got to try their, purple margarita, side car cocktail and champagne with glitter. I haven't had such delicious tasting food from a restaurant like that in years! Everything and I do mean everything we tried was absolutely delicious! The staff that we had the pleasure of coming in contact with were very kind, accommodating and efficient. Constantly coming by with more foods to try and quickly taking away any finished plates once we were done. Kevin the owner really outdid himself with his VIP grand opening. AMAZING. When I say start with the peach sidecar then grab every side they have to offer. Trust me this restaurant does not disappoint. It's indoor seating with an outside view. Very simple rose themed and amazing staff. Went yesterday but I'll probably be back again tonight. read more

First time visiting Kitchen + Kocktails. The restaurant was cute, played really good music, and was located in a really nice part of Miami. The areas needed for improvement: 1. I made a 9pm reservation hours in advance and was told by the host upon arrival that there would be a short wait. That short wait was 50 minutes long. There were no updates and very dry responses from the host when status updates were made. We told to wait by the bar although she was advised that there was a child in our party. 2. No refills on drinks. $6 for a soda. $9 for lemonade. Alcoholic beverages were ranging $20+ and higher. I ordered a flavored lemonade (served in a tall glass with lots of ice). I asked for no ice on the second one and was given a shorter glass, filled 2/3 of the way. When asked about the refill policy, the waitress advised that because the bar tenders were making the drinks, there were no refills. Kind of insane to me but ok. 3. The food is significantly overpriced. Cmon, $9 for a slice of cornbread? $10 per chicken wing? Everything is ordered à la carte. $13 per each small side, very small portions. I wanted the Red Beans and rice but after confirming that it was served with ONE chicken wing for $31, I chose the chicken and waffles instead. It was decent. The lobster tail was slightly overcooked for $31. The Mac and cheese was ok. Side-note: No prices are listed online prior to arrival (at least I didn't see it). You have to wait until you are there to scan a QR code for the menu with price. For a family of 3 (1 kid, 2 adults), the total was about $300. We spent less at a four star steak house the previous night. Overall, it was an experience. But honestly, due to pricing, I wouldn't go back. read more
