I really liked the name, but on second thought, a name like this might not be a good reason to eat here, lol. Google said they have good $10 happy hour eats and drinks, but they didn't have any of the food options when I went. The cocktails were great! A super cute bartender made them and served them up to us at this dimly lit bar. So dimly lit we could barely read the menu and I'm not old, I swear! Lol. I'm not even sure what it is that we ordered, kind of like a ceviche meets guacamole. I think it was good, I'm honestly not sure. It was fatty, almost buttery, my date didn't like that. It came with some kind of chip that broke really easily. The marinated cucumber dish was pretty solid though. I'd get that again. If you like ordering food and waiting about an hour for no food to arrive - not even an appetizer - and promises that your order is coming, this is the place for you! We ordered our starters and dinner at the same time - pickle and cucumber starters; crispy tofu and Branzino for dinner. We waited around 8 minutes for our first round of drinks to arrive and proceeded to wait and wait and wait. Our server basically disappeared only to walk by us about 25 minutes later to tell us the food is coming - without skipping a beat or breaking stride. Later, another server asked us if we wanted to refresh drinks. We ordered one more. Some VIPs walked in and sat at the back bar, soaking up time attention of the bartenders and our previous server. Around 15 minutes more of no food, no drink my girlfriend went to tell the hostesses we were done. The server came over simultaneously with the new drink - finally - and the bill for $92 which included the new drink that finally came while saying she would cancel the food order. Not recommended, unless you are a VIP and want to pay for drinks while waiting for food that never comes including the drink that comes after you ask to cancel - and don't even take a sip. This place is so dope. It's indeed a hidden gem. They are hip-hop throwback R&B all night. The ambience is so hip cool gives you retro 90s vibe. A great place to grab a bite or even go to the bar sit down and get a drink. It gives me a little bit of a speakeasy feel. This spot was selected from the Chase Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables. We were drawn towards the modern vietnamese fusion aspect of the menu and it surely did not disappoint. We were welcomed with two glasses of champagne while we browsed the menu. We decided on the short rib. Valentine's Day weekend in Miami. Three couples, We wanted something fun, different, a little vibey but not pretentious. So we landed at Phuc Yea. First impression? You walk in and think, "Oh, this is cute. Cozy." Then they take you upstairs and boom. The space opens up into this big, beautifully designed dining room that feels like Miami grew up, got stylish, and learned how to cook. Lantern light, warm tones, cool crowd. It sits in a part of town that, if you grew up here in the 80s like I did, you remember very differently. Now it's polished, hip, a little bougie, and unapologetically Miami. We ordered everything family style, which is the move here. Let's start with the octopus. Off the chain. Tender, perfectly cooked, layered with flavor without trying too hard. It was one of those dishes where the table gets quiet for a second because everyone's busy processing how good it is. The dumplings? Absolute flavor bombs. Each bite hits you in waves. Savory, rich, balanced. Easily one of the standouts of the night. We also had the bao buns, fried chicken, millionaire rice, and an edamame hummus that deserves its own paragraph. Because where else do you get Middle Eastern-inspired hummus made from Japanese edamame served with Caribbean tostones? That mashup shouldn't work. But it does. That's the whole point of this place. It's Vietnamese meets Cajun meets Miami meets whatever else they feel like throwing in, and somehow it all makes sense. Quick tip on the millionaire rice. It's bold. Really bold. I made the mistake of mixing it with the chicken on my plate and it got overwhelming fast. This is not a "pile everything together" situation. Eat the dishes individually. What a great date night spot! The vibe was super nice! We were sat in the dining room which was very quiet to begin, but as the night continued it got lively. The service was 10/10 Carolina was beyond attentive and so helpful with the menu with so many recommendations! She made sure we were having an awesome time!! Food? Off the chain. Prices? I think Holy Phuc! may be a better name for this place. We had the fried chicken, the steak, and the fried rice. All three were admittedly, outstanding. The cocktails were outstanding. What was weird, that cost it a star, is that the server had to announce that there are three most popular dishes were not available because "it's been a busy weekend, and we ran out of these things yesterday." Granted this is Labor Day weekend. But this is just Sunday on Labor Day weekend. Why it is strange is because the things that were not available were rolls, bao, and dumplings. All things that you can make very quickly in the morning, before service. I've made them and I know how many you can turn out with a few people working on them. Visit any good dim sum joint and you'll see people sitting around a table talking and knocking these things out by the dozens. To my knowledge, there hasn't been a shortage of most of the ingredients for any of those things as well which given that you're bringing in a lot of people over the three day weekend you probably want to make sure that you're making people happy you would want to make sure they were in good supply. It's one thing to say it ran out earlier in the service except it was 5:30p at night when we were eating. And you were out of it the day before? Are these frozen and pre-prepared? Pro food. Amateur hour prep. Disappointing lack of forecasting of need of popular items That is not a winning combination. Especially at these rather lofty prices. Service was excellent. The whole concept of the dining room in the front of the house is very hipster. Cool. Quite a bit of fun. Parking? Non-existent. The lot is more than full, and street parking is not available in front of the building or on the side street there. You would have to go block further down to find paid street parking if you can. Star down for the parking. What's the other star? The prices are a bit phuced up. Three mains. Four drinks. $225 with tip (mandatory and set). When a quality New Vietnamese place in London is about half your price you're doing something a bit off. That meal set me back just about $70 all in. So if it had been two people $140 roughly, with the currency conversion. Yes, food prices have gone up, but not that much. I would go back. The food was delicious. I'll just pray that my credit score stays high enough that I can pass the affordability background check and come in. On a business trip to Miami, I had the opportunity to meet a local friend the evening prior for dinner, and he suggested Phuc Yea because the catchy name ... well ... caught his attention. For both of us, we figured the place was worth the try. The spot wasn't crowded on a Sunday night, and we had wonderful service from Giuliana and her colleagues. Very attentive and friendly indeed. The atmosphere is a mix of Asian influences with a Latin flair, which made for an interesting dining room. The music was a tad loud, though. While the tunes added to the vibe, I would have preferred a few notches lower on the volume. After a cocktail each, we shared a handful of "tapas" items from the menu. The Green Papaya Salad was delicious (although the most traditional of the items we shared), and we loved the signature Octopus Carpaccio. Their Ceviche was good (not great) and we shared their Cha Gio (crispy pork and shrimp rolls), which were excellent. Moving toward mains, we split the Millionaire Fried Rice and an order of Bo Luc Lac ... both were wonderful. We finished off the evening with their chocolate and coconut bread pudding (super yummy). With a cocktail each and included gratuity, dinner was $125 per hear, which seemed spot-on for the quality and experience. If I lived in Miami, I'd surely be back. They charge $28 for a small cup of rice (they call it 'Millionaire Rice') and $20 for a small cup of noodles. Both are listed as main dishes, but the portions are tiny. I visited Phuc Yea for the first time a couple of months ago. We got there with one of my coworkers for happy hour, thinking the happy hour started at 5.30pm as it says on its website... well, it didn't. Happy hour had just switched schedules and now it's from 6-8pm so we waited half an hour since we were already there. The place is beautiful, kind of unexpected given what you see from the outside. Also, I love that they have free parking in the back, that's a real plus in Miami. For happy hour they had 50% signature cocktails and "tinis" (little cute martinis), and wine, beer, and bao buns for $5.55. We started with a couple of "tinis", I had the Madame Ho Chi Minh and it was good, straight to the point but good. And it came with a little crispy pickled onion that was so delicious I had to ask for another one. We shared the Watermelon Salad, super refreshing and with a really tasty flavor thanks to the nuroc cham. From the baos, I had a chicken one and a tofu one, both were delicious! Since I visited a few months back, I'm not sure if they changed it or not, because on their website it still says happy hour from 5-7 and I remember even on their IG saying the same, and even the menu they gave us that day. It wasn't until I arrived that day, to my surprise, that it had changed, so it might still be 6-8pm or maybe they brought it back to 5-7pm but definitely food and drinks are worth it and a great quality! Very low value food. We wanted some Vietnamese pho and ordered a Sancocho pho, the only pho on the menu. The waiter told us it's $82. I said why so expensive for a bowl of pho, he goes that it's a big bowl enough for 2-3 people. It's a big bowl with slow cooked pork on a big bone, and enough pho for only one person, and meat for two persons. Taste is good. However, it won't cost more than $35 in a regular Vietnamese restaurant. The tab automatically added 20% as gratuity, which I disagreed and signed 15%, for a pho plus a cup of ice water for each of us. We waited at least 20 min on a Monday noon, after being seated. Later I found on Yelp there's other pho available. Not sure why the waiter (a guy) did not tell us. $100+ for a bowl of pho! Having tried many pho places in the United states, I can never say this is worth it. read more

We stopped by for brunch on Sunday because we wanted to try their humongous pho bowl and it also happened to be Father's Day. So your probably wondering, what the Phuc was I thinking picking this place. I'll tell you why, when looking up Best Restaurants in Miami this one was at the top of my List. Best Vietnamese Food in the City and one of those Special Food Gems. Phuc means Blessings and Prosperity in Vietnamese, meaning something that's Positive. Well I was positive that I was gonna have a great Meal with my brother, once we finished up out Boat Tour, explored the Bayside Marketplace and cruising through downtown to the Little Haiti area. Smack dab in the middle of Biscayne Boulevard, we parked in the back lot and made out way up the Stairs into the main Dining Room. We were sat down near the Bar area and our Server Ani told us some of the Specials. I started off with a Cocktail called Say Gay which was a bright Orange drink topped with a few Mint Leaves that was Spicy, Tart and Tropical. Flavors of Passionfruit, Hibiscus and Thai Bird Chilies that packed that potent Punch and with Peloton Espadin Mezcal. For out Appetizers we split a Seafood Ceviche (1st taste of Seafood this entire Trip) consisting of Octopus, Shrimp and Bay Scallops mixed with Jicama, Cucumber, Thai Basil, Lemongrass, Nuoc Cham and Lime. Super Fresh and clean tasting with Lime to squeeze over to brighten it up. Next was Crispy Chicken Wings that were coated in a savory Caramel with Fish Sauce, also had some Crispy Tostones to munch on too. Next up was a plate of Spicy Dumplings that were filled with Pork & Shrimp that had Oven Roasted Confit Tomatoes (melt in your Mouth) and a Szechaun Peppercorn Sauce that had some Heat to it. For our Entrees, Nathan got their Buttermilk Fried Chicken (that was marinated in Cajun Spices) with Hot Honey and Sriracha Aioli and topped with a Spicy Watermelon Salad. He said it was one of the Best Fried Chicken dishes that he's ever had. Meanwhile, I got their Masitas de Puerco, which was a 5-Spice Crispy Pork Belly with Shaved Red Onion, Tomato, Lemongrass Sate (sauce that is Garlicky and Spicy), Nuoc Cham and Herbage. 2 Proteins that were both Flavorful and Crispy that we both could not get enough of. Halfway through I told Ani that I would like to try the Bartender's Drink of Choice special. What came in a Martini glass was a drink consisting of Espresso Liqueur, Oregano Syrup and Candied Orange Peel on a Stick. It was a pretty strong mid-dinner Drink, but I handled it with Ease. For dessert, the choices were either a Croissant Bread Pudding or a 5-Spice Carrot Cake, neither of which I was interested in. I saw on their Menu a while back that they had a dessert called Tony in Vietnam, which was something honoring Anthony Bourdain (Best Travel Host ever) and his favorite place to visit in the World, but suffice it to say, it was no longer on the Menu at the time. So I had to settle for a B-Lated Birthday Shot consisting of Rum and Lime Juice in a tall shot glass, the Bar was even kind enough to make a Non-Alcoholic one for Nathan. We slugged them down and them shortly after the rain had passed we headed back to our Hotel. But let me tell you, one of the Best Restaurants of the 305, best place for me to have my B-Lated Birthday Dinner. They treated us with so much Care, great Blessings and Prosperity, they even took a Picture of us together as a Memory. The "cha gio" aka crispy imperial rolls on the other hand were amazing. I wish I would've gotten 2 orders of these. As our main entrees, we got the smoked bone in short ribs, the char siu black cod that came recommend by the server and the millionaire fried rice. The rice was a 10/10 but the other entrees were just okay in my opinion. I was not impressed with the flavors. For dessert we had the bread pudding which sounded amazing but it also was disappointing. The dessert took forever, we almost cancelled it but by the time we got the servers attention he arrived with the dessert. I think the dessert was sitting out for a while because it was pretty cold but we just gave up by that point. I was so sad because I love bread pudding. Horrible food. Overpriced watery flavorless oxtails. Extremely sour weird tasting wings. Pork belly ceviche was soggy watery and sour. Only 1/2 decent menu item was the dumplings.
