I was staying at the EAST hotel and the nearest Michelin Guide app restaurant recommendation was this asian fusion place. My plan was to have dinner upstairs and then go down to the listener bar for some cocktails after but unfortunately because it was a Wednesday night that wasn't possible, live music (DJ) is only from Thursdays to Saturdays. You can still have drinks but is not going to have that cool factor of live music vibe. Inside the atmosphere is nice, dim lights, cozy with stylish decor. The service was great, our server was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was good, not amazing. There were several memorable dishes such as the Short Rib Dumplings, the Crispy Duck Salad (bold) and the Char Siu which was pork chop in a dark chocolate glaze with cabbage. We also had dessert but nothing outstanding. Next time I'll try to go back to the listening bar! read more

They will ambush you with screeching loud music when you made a reservation expecting ambient music you'd get any other night - Not LIV or E11ven at 8pm dinner (loud enough you cant hear someone next to you). Flagged to management, it fell on deaf ears so I'll say it here: If you host an event that will be materially different than the norm, block off the reservations. Not only do you piss off returning customers by that, but you piss them off by gaslighting them when you message them with no ownership of the situation. Why bother making a reservation? Food is good, but so are lots of places in Miami who won't pull this. Why bother playing russian roulette here? read more

In the heart of Mary Brickell, it's a bit congested but very walkable and a variety of parking nearby. Ended up at a garage which was a little pricey at $16 for the dinner. Walking in, we were greeted by a very friendly host. You walk into a well decorated and maintained bar with a friendly bar tender, limited seating and a music area that gets activated on the weekends. We were directed to the upstairs dining room, where I had made a reservation. Nice view. Good seating, well spaced out. Started with the grouper crudo which was nicely seasoned. Then the mushroom rice hot pot came out and became a table favorite, only to be topped by the last dish that came out a sweet tangy shrimp vermicelli noodles. This dish was my favorite. They have a nice drink selection which were reasonably priced for miami standards, as well as a mocktail list. Drinks and dinner came out with nice plating and we had great service the whole night. Very cool ambiance, like the vibe except that our light at our table was going on and off. I felt like I might have a seizure. This is a Michelin restaurant. We all tried the tasting menu. I asked if the tasting menu was going to be enough for my 6'4" 200lb son and my husband. The waitress said yes, well we ended up adding 3 more dishes. The tasting menu was ok. The food was beautiful in presentation. Very Japanese in styling and food. Each course was very different. The food all in all was weird in terms of flavors. They were very one note like the endive salad was very bitter with no sweet or richness. The mushrooms were good but felt very muddy in flavor. They covered the mushrooms with so much sauce it muddied the flavor. The memorable items were the pork loin, the sirloin, and the desserts were very good. The extras we order were excellent, hot to get the milk bread was delicious. The sirloin was very good and the dumpling, their specialty was ok. The skin is very thick and again found the shortrib lost in the dumpling. The desserts were very good, the matcha crepe was very good with a coffee sauce. We came in for the happy hour and just ordered 5 tapas to share. We were sitted in what they call the listening room, it kinda has a cold hifi vibe, not very cozy, and the tables aren't very comfortable either. The food is creative but just okay, there were two dishes that impressed the oysters and then milk bread, however the rest were kinda disappointing especially the corn ribs, I'm not sure what this dish is even doing on the menu, it's just sliced grilled corn with some sauce. read more

My wife and I had a fantastic pre-cruise evening at Kaori Miami. The bar vibe downstairs was lively with music at just the right volume, and the service was excellent. Happy Hour is a great deal with plenty of options, though it's only available at the bar; upstairs offers a quieter atmosphere if that's more your style. We worked our way through several cocktails, but the standout was the Koko, a smooth rum drink with vanilla and cocoa bitters that perfectly captured what we like in a balanced cocktail. We shared a spread of dishes and enjoyed them all: corn ribs, crispy pork belly, shiro ponzu crudo, Japanese milk bread, and our favorite of the night, the braised short rib dumplings. Each plate was flavorful and creative without being overcomplicated. Between the quality of the food, the excellent cocktails, and the welcoming, stylish atmosphere, Kaori Miami was exactly the kind of fun yet elevated dining experience we look for. My favorite restaurant in Miami. We stumbled upon this restaurant somewhat randomly but ended up having a night we will never forget. We made a same day reservation quite easily and were seated as soon as we arrived. We came ravenous for dinner, so we opted for the tasting menu + the udon noodles. It came with 7 dishes in total and I left very full. There wasn't a dish I disliked. The first dish included 2 tarts/crisps that were bursting with umami. The second included yellowfin tuna which was so so tender. We were also served fish which was tasty and had great flavor, but of all the dishes was probably stood out the least (still excellent! just by comparison). The wagyu beef/steak was probably some of the best beef I've ever had anywhere. I would pay $50 for the dish alone (the tasting menu was $95 pp total). The dessert was incredible too (just the right amount of sweet...but not too sweet). The udon we got on top of everything was very flavorful, but nothing to write home about. If you're coming here once to try it out, sick to the tasting menu, it'll blow you away. I'm sure other items on the menu are incredible as well. Service was excellent and the food was served at appropriate in. Definitely will return here again, check it out! read more

I had to give this place 5 stars for multiple reasons. The hype is real so I'll get right to it! Originally we wanted to try this place because of the MiamI Spcie option but since we were a group of 7-8, we couldn't participate since they only do up to 6. Not a problem since we were willing to share a bunch of things. First, the hostess was super sweet and very inviting. She was very accommodating which really made the night start off great. The waiter was also very sweet and very knowledgeable. We ordered drinks and got started ordering a bunch from the menu. I think we got almost one of everything! My faves were the cucumber salad, the gyoza, the fried rice, and the steak on the stone (can't think of the name). But truthfully every dish we had was divine. Truly a 5 star experience. This time, went for Miami Spice with family - incredible service from Manuela. Super helpful on recommendations and clearly very passionate about the food. Amazing wine service from Francisco - each selection was beautifully described and always a hit. Don't miss the grilled mushrooms (trust me), the milk bread or the Mee Siam noodle dish. Disclaimer is that this was the Miami Spice menu, so the full menu might have delivered more impressively. Portions here were on the smaller side, and were a hit or miss. The presentation was wonderful and ambience was elegant. But the Bahn Mi was so dry and hard that it was difficult to eat. The drinks and desserts were unique and felt like an experience to try. I like the vibe of this place because they play good music. The server was relatively attentive. As far as the food, the dumplings were pretty good. The drink tasted like a gin and tonic. I liked the fried rice a lot, but the steak was very much room temperature. We informed the waiter, but he said that when they cook meat medium rare they have to let it breathe a bit, however we order the steak medium. Unbelievable food and experience. Obviously I'm no food critic, but I would put this up there with some of the Michelin star restaurants we've visited. The presentation, unique menu, service, quality of food, variety of flavors and textures, all of the above just blew my husband and I away! We've talked about going back at least a dozen times in just the few weeks since we went. If it wasn't for the price tag we would. We had a hard time ranking any of the dishes in order of most to least favorite, even the starter milk bread (don't skip ordering the milk bread). The wagyu (we only did 2oz to try it and it was worth it) , scallops, and soup dumplings were all incredible and tied for equally amazing. Wow! It's rare to find a unique restaurant these days. Very hip vibe. Beautiful interior. Great music. Amazing staff. We started with the steak tartar. It was very fresh and well done, but I wouldn't say it was massively different than any other high-quality steak tartar. My wife got the crispy duck salad, which was just amazing and a very large portion given the price of just $25 at such a high-end place. We also got the fried rice, which was a massive portion of all kinds of onions and leaks and served in a very large stone vessel to give it that great crispy char on the outside. This is an absolutely fantastic way to fill up on the cheap at a restaurant this high end. But the show stunner was the pork chop. This was like the A5 of pork chops. So tender and served in a sweet and sour chocolate sauce. Best pork chops I've ever had down. Drinks were also delicious and reasonably priced. $265 with tax and tip for two tartars the rice, the salad and the pork chop and three drinks. read more

We didn't get too much food and it was a super high bill. Another con is that the restaurant isn't super lively. The best vibes and the absolute BEST HAPPY HOUR in Brickell. The music was so vibe, they played Catalina la O which brought me to me childhood. Props to the DJ because i'm not easily impressed by restaurant music. The food was great, very small portions though. The cocktails were super creative and delicious. Service was very good as well. I must have walked by Kaori more than a dozen times and never stopped in. Finally gave it a go for happy hour - since it goes until 8 pm and they have $1 oysters... and loved it so much I came two nights in a row! The oysters come dressed and are delicious. The minimum order of 6 is an easy feat. I also tried their squid and the wagyu hotdog. The squid was crispy and tasty, but on the smaller portion side. The sauce has a kick to it! The wagyu hotdog was delightful and a pleasant surprise! Dressed with kimchi it is perfectly balanced. Would order the hotdog again, no question. HH is only served in the lounge area on the first floor. There is a variety of seating - hightop, booth, bar, couchables, and outdoor. The vibes are on point - classy and cool. On Friday they had a banging 2000s R&B playlist that was just right. Service is incredibly attentive. Water refilled constantly and consistent checkins that were not too much. Kaori is an Asian inspired two-story restaurant located right outside the Brickell City Centre that has some of the fanciest/best cocktails I've had in a minute. I was lucky enough to try the 'Familiar Faces' which was tequila-based and had THAT KICK I love to experience in a spicy cocktail. I ordered the 'Ume Tonikku' that was lavender flavored/gin-based and delicious as well. My friends asked for the half dozen order of oysters that looked scrumptious. I didn't stay for dinner but am hoping that the main dishes are as good as those first couple of drinks.
