Happy Hour
Samantha K.

Going here during Happy hour to start Cinco De Mayo was a great choice. Name is pronounced "Q" and Chris is the best bartendar there. Service was 10/10 and food came out fast. Highly recommend the Bbq ribs; tuna sticky rice, Korean chicken tenders, and pork belly bao buns. Drinks Pinky Pony (I did El Tesero tequila instead of Tito's vodka) and pink guava margarita (great for lychee fans).

Came here a few times for happy hour and am very impressed! They offer happy hour at the bar and the outdoor seating. Both times I sat at the bar! The cocktails and mocktails are great! There are a decent amount of alcohol options on the happy hour menu. The plates on happy hour are small but shareable. My favorites are the cauliflower, crispy rice and filet mignon! The service is always exceptional here, we always have a great time and are well taken care of. I highly suggest dropping by for happy hour!

Runs Crispy Rice (4 come in an order)

Kyu has been around for quite some time and it never disappoints. I almost wish I was drinking because I remember their cocktails being delicious. We went on a Tuesday night and it was not very busy when we arrived but it was packed by the time we left. Service was good, attentive but not hovering. Great food recommendations. It's a beautiful establishment, warm neutral colors. Be careful if you're sitting in a chair and have something heavy (like a book bag) hanging on it tho. If you're not careful the chair can go flying backwards. It happened to 2 people while we were there. Now let's get to the good stuff, the food! My friend is pescatarian and they had tons of veggie and seafood options. We started with the tuna crispy rice, phenomenal probably one of my favorite dishes. We also had the hamachi crudo that is served with sliced jalapeños and micro greens in I believe coconut milk (but could be wrong), whatever it was it was fantastic making this my other favorite plate. Everything was delicious these two just set the tone for a great meal! We also shared the roasted cauliflower and a Thai hot pot with king crab. It was good, probably wouldn't order it again because there's so many good things to try but glad we tried it. All in all the chef at Kyu is hitting all the marks. Aromatic well balanced, flavorful dishes that leave you full and satisfied. I'll definitely be back!

Chilean seabass

I came here for a business lunch with colleagues and we all left very happy and full! The lunch special is a great deal at $35 for starters like steak tartare toast (sooo good!), tuna crispy rice (2p) and burrata for +$. The burrata was delicious with a delicious yuzu jam. The sourdough that comes with both the burrata and steak tartare toast was perfect. For the entree, I upgraded to the Chilean seabass (totally worth it). It comes with this mint salad which was surprisingly delicious and refreshing. I tried the brisket and fried chicken dishes as well and both were solid. We got the whole roasted cauliflower to share and it was a great vegetable addition. The sauces underneath the cauliflower were addicting! For dessert, I highly recommend the coconut cake. The ice cream that comes with it is refreshing and perfect to finish your meal. The service was good and the staff were very attentive and fast. I highly recommend this place for a nice budget friendly and delicious lunch or for a nicer family style dinner. I'll be back soon!

Braised rib

For the price of Kyu I was expecting to be blown away. My takeaway is this - the cocktails were fabulous, true mixology. The servers were all nice and attentive. The chicken had a nice crisp and the sauce was slightly spicy but overall for the price - It was an okay chicken dish! The short rib was cooked to perfection and served with 3 sauces that were all uniquely different from one another. It is a lot of food - so plan to split the short rib. The hamachi it was different than any Hamachi I've ever had, and for that reason, I enjoyed the uniqueness. I would absolutely order the Hamachi again. As for ambience. The restaurant itself is smaller than anticipated. I would skip the outdoor seating. Inside is dark and moody and definitely provides way nicer ambience than outdoors as the restaurant is located on a busy street.

Everything was very delicious!! My first time trying stone pot rice and to see it sizzling like it's on the stove was a sight to see. Korean fried chicken paired up well. The place is noisy with voices carrying on and the seating near the booths was tight. I didn't give it five stars because my rice was burning at the bottom and the server mixed it at table side. The burnt rice was mixed in and our server didn't let us know about the difference in water. We noticed a pitcher of water being passed around after he asked us if we wanted a bottle. Overall, I'll return back to try more items of the menu.

We have been wanting to try this restaurant since it's an easy walk from our house. We were with the quality of food and service here! The prices are very good, quality of food is superb and everyone was so friendly and nice.

Dumplings

Went for brunch and will definitely go back again. The inside was dark and open and the service was great. We split everything but our favorites were the hamachi crispy rice and the dumplings. On the pricier side but the quality of food, drinks, and service is worth it.

The lunch deal is a GREAT deal. The sea bass and dark chocolate smores were so incredible we talked about them for days after. The restaurant is beautiful. The service was great. I hadn't been here in about a decade and it's just as good as it ever was. Highly recommend the table side crab fried rice bowl to share with the table.

French toast

I'm a repeat offender at KYU, and it never disappoints. The space is modern, chic, and warm and the service matches the vibe. The servers are always attentive, and the bartenders are friendly with great drink suggestions. I went recently for brunch and got the Banana Bourbon French Toast, steak and eggs, and house-cured bacon. Everything was really, really good, but the French toast was next level, the best French toast I've ever had. I would live in it if I could. It's that good. Their cocktail menu is also excellent. I've tried a few, but the espresso martini is my favorite. They also have a happy hour that's definitely worth checking out.

Short rib bao buns
Clara G.

Pretty good! We sat in the bar and were able to grab from both the miami spice & the happy hour menu. The pink puppy cocktail was delicious. The appetizers were also good, especially the tuna takaki. The short rib bao buns were a great add on. For main, we had the sea bass and the fried chicken. Both were very good though I wish they had come with proper side dishes. The desserts were the best part! The smores one was my favorite. The service was excellent. The bartenders provided great recommendations.

Went for spice for lunch and I wasnt super impressed. For apps got the crispy rice tuna and the steak tartar. Crispy rice was super thick.. tartar was fine. Entree we got fried chicken and the buns. The chicken came in this spicy sauce on the bottom. It was good but it didn't need that much of it. Would have preferred it on the side. The pork buns were a bit too fatty. Didn't really care for them. The dessert was pretty decadent. I really liked the banana ice cream!

Stirred Hot pot rice with king crab

This is my first experience going to wynwood and I am not a person that likes crowds so, very very glad that Kyu offers valet because I can't imagine trying to find parking in this area. Valet I was $25 plus tip and definitely worth not having to deal with the hassle of finding parking in that area. This restaurant has a gorgeous interior. It wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be but can easily see large groups especially given that their whole premise is built on offering large plates to share with the table. The hostess and server were nothing special but we're very pleasant and attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered from each section of the menu, ordering Bail bonds which came with two, hamachi crudo which came with seven slices of hamachi, the king crab Hot pot rice and a side of bok choy. This was definitely enough food to feed my fiance and I and everything was absolutely delicious. Most things had a slight spicy kick to it, for those of you who are very spicy averse. The pork on the bail bonds was juicy and fatty and delicious. The hamachi was very fresh and cold and the flavors of the coconut milk and basil oil fit perfectly with the subtle flavor of the raw fish. The bok choy was garlicky and crisp. The Hot pot rice was so unique and delicious with flavors of coconut, mint, fried egg and a few crispy bits of rice that complemented the chunks of real crab throughout the pot. My fiance ordered the banana old fashioned as well as the drink titled the world is yours. He said the old fashioned was the best old-fashioned he's ever had in his life and highly recommends it. The other cocktail was good but the cute little paper airplane that came with was more exciting than the drink itself. This is a great restaurant that clearly values flavors and presentation as well as sharing that with friends and family. So grab up your closest friends and relatives and share a few plates here at Kyu.

There are posts from 3 and 4 months ago while the restaurant was closed. Did it open for a while and close back down? The website link also no longer works. Has KYU closed down for good?

They are renovating. They will be back is what I was told.

Is this restaurant really closed till October?

Yes it is sadly.

What are your vegan options?

Roasted cauliflower can be vegan and the shishito pepper, the broccoli is amazing, the bok choy is good too. I think it's listed on the menu online with a a V. When you go the waiters can walk you through the menu. The non vegans with me enjoyed… Read more

Do they still have their food happy hour menu?

Drinks on happy hour - yes!

Hi i would lile to make a reservation?

Call their main line or make one on open table

Is this place suitable for large groups, 20?

Yes, it could be but note it is very loud in there already so large groups really won't have much intimate time with each other to talk. Also note getting a reservation is difficult so make sure to call way in advance to make that reservation.

Eat at bar?

Yes you can, but there's little space

Any parking on site?

Tough area of town to find parking on a crowded afternoon or evening. But street parking is definitely available.... if you're lucky. Much easier to Uber into this area of town.

What is the wait time like to get a seat?

This place is always very packed. I recommend you make a reservation ahead of time. Actually a couple of days in advance same day reservation is still some what difficult. This place is worth it so better have a seat reserved!

What's the dress code, Can you come in after site seeing in shorts?

Hello, Sorry for the delayed response. We are a casual restaurant. Shorts are okay.… Read more

We went with the Butcher's Feast, and each cut of steak was absolutely delicious. We also got the Wagyu add-on for a bit of an extra charge, and honestly I would say it is worth it. I loved how you could completely customize each and every bite. All of the steak was soooo flavorful, and all of the vegetables were crunchy and flavorful. One of my favorite parts of the meal was also watching them cook the steak for us right at our table. Just tell them what kind of cook you want on your steak, and they will take care of the rest. As far as the approachability of this restaurant, I found it very welcoming and a really great hospitality team. Having never tried a Michelin Star restaurant before, I was worried I would be out of my element but I felt very comfortable here. They tell you how to make your bites of vegetables and recommend different flavor combinations to try. This is an AMAZING place to come on a special occasion, and the price of the meal reflects the high quality of the aged steak, and the attention to detail on each dish. Highly recommend the Butcher's Feast and a trip to come visit this restaurant.

This is also Miami where ppl linger so it felt off. Plus we didn't see our main server David for most of our meal but everyone who rotated in was nice... some more charismatic than others. Did the butchers feast with the Wagyu add on (so worth it!) and everything was good. The Wagyu was so buttery and soft! The egg soufflé is amazing, wish the server told us how to eat all the accoutrements but when we asked we were walked through it. Drinks were solid - old fashioned, the gold standard were nice and boozy and the logo ice was a nice touch. Vibe was good and would go back for that Wagyu and soufflé alone.

Even if it was just us and the DJ, it still would've been a whole party. The inside has a dark, moody vibe with cute spots for pics, definitely a vibe. Parking was $11 in a small lot right outside, which wasn't bad. Now let's get into the important part... the FOOD & DRINKS whew!! I had a passion fruit mojito and a passion fruit margarita, both were SO good. Like... real good LOL! The wings were flavorful, and we also had fried tostones topped with shrimp in this sweet sauce that paired perfectly with the savory. SO GOOD. I also tried two different sushi rolls with steak, and babyyy... every bite had me like "hmmmmm" no exaggeration at all. They offer both a brunch menu and a regular menu, and everything is displayed on tablets which was super vibrant and easy to browse. I don't love driving all the way to Miami, but for these vibes, the music, and the food? I'd definitely make the trip again. Good food, good drinks, good music, good vibes. We had an amazing time!

Speaking of flowers who ever came up with the interior layout and the Latino/asian aesthetic deserves a raise. There were multiple tv some playing on of the sports channels or old Asians movies. There was no DJ when I went but the playlist was fire, from dembow to bachata I was jamming the whole time. I ordered a sushi roll which was a little less than what I was expecting so I was still hungry after my meal. That's on me though. It was good I can't complained. The fried flacks were the perfect touch to the roll. The table complaint was that the portions were less than fulfilling. So maybe order an appetizer. I'm not upset with my experience I would dine again.
