Ok, admittedly, it was a crazy night. Miami Miami'd the night we were there. People were acting out and wild, and it was a random Wednesday! But truly, it's that kind of excitement and life that allows a place like KYU to thrive. People want to be where the action is, and in terms of food - this is there the action is. We had the Chef's Special, and every single serving that was brought to us was a 5/5 experience! Our waitress was attentive and personal, without any sense of lingering or hovering at all. The staff did a good job of dealing with some of the rowdier patrons, and it was clear that this was not the norm, but some people looking for trouble with a bit too much of something in their system. Even with reservations they were a little slow in seating for a fairly empty restaurant (noon). Ordered drinks (tea $6 and coffee $5) then brunch. Seems like service coordination is very off. My spouse got the appetizer a good 15 minutes before mine. I had the biscuit, that was very tasty. The fruit, granola yogurt was good too. The main of crab Benedict was served, next although already cooled and the sauce a congealed. My main, after a good 30 minutes still had not arrived. Apparently a steak and eggs can be miscooked and they had redone it, never bothering to tell us. I did not try it there. Refills on the coffee were never offered. We took the steak and our cinnamon buns to go since we had been there long enough. The final kicker is they have an automatic 20% service charge in order to ensure the staff is paid enough. Seems like a business problem to me. Service was not up to that high of a standard. If you go during Miami Spice I hope they have figured out how to sequence the courses and get them to the table correctly while still hot. read more

I Need to talk to you about my experience at KYU. Huge shoutout to Chris at the bar, he welcomed us in with such a great energy while we waited for our table, and the drinks he made? Elite. The perfect start to the night. Bree took over once our table was ready and everything just flowed. Attentive, warm, and completely on top of it without ever missing a beat. And the food... every single dish felt like an experience and somehow better than the last!!! I genuinely couldn't pick a favorite. Even the krunchy kale had personality (which says a lot). The branzino, steak tartare, Korean fried chicken, octopus, mussels... I'm still thinking about all of it. Kim, the manager, was consistently checking in and making sure everything was perfect, and that level of attention to detail made the entire night feel elevated. We were really taken care of and my experience at Kyu ended with me in bed ready to sleep and a huge smile on my face. And left overs for tomorrow. I couldn't ask for anything more! read more

Came here for brunch and I couldn't recommend more. We were a large group and we made a reservation. The services was excellent and the food came out fairly quickly. I ordered Kyu's version of the espresso martini, the house cured bacon, and the pancakes. Everything was delicious, especially the pancakes. Our server, Katrina was superb! She had lots of patience with us as one of us has allergies. So certain items on our dishes had to be omitted. Very accommodating I would say. I came here for a business lunch with colleagues and we all left very happy and full! The lunch special is a great deal at $35 for starters like steak tartare toast (sooo good!), tuna crispy rice (2p) and burrata for +$. The burrata was delicious with a delicious yuzu jam. The sourdough that comes with both the burrata and steak tartare toast was perfect. For the entree, I upgraded to the Chilean seabass (totally worth it). It comes with this mint salad which was surprisingly delicious and refreshing. I tried the brisket and fried chicken dishes as well and both were solid. We got the whole roasted cauliflower to share and it was a great vegetable addition. The sauces underneath the cauliflower were addicting! For dessert, I highly recommend the coconut cake. The ice cream that comes with it is refreshing and perfect to finish your meal. The service was good and the staff were very attentive and fast. Kyu has been around for quite some time and it never disappoints. I almost wish I was drinking because I remember their cocktails being delicious. We went on a Tuesday night and it was not very busy when we arrived but it was packed by the time we left. Service was good, attentive but not hovering. Great food recommendations. It's a beautiful establishment, warm neutral colors. Be careful if you're sitting in a chair and have something heavy (like a book bag) hanging on it tho. If you're not careful the chair can go flying backwards. It happened to 2 people while we were there. Now let's get to the good stuff, the food! My friend is pescatarian and they had tons of veggie and seafood options. We started with the tuna crispy rice, phenomenal probably one of my favorite dishes. We also had the hamachi crudo that is served with sliced jalapeños and micro greens in I believe coconut milk (but could be wrong), whatever it was it was fantastic making this my other favorite plate. Everything was delicious these two just set the tone for a great meal! We also shared the roasted cauliflower and a Thai hot pot with king crab. It was good, probably wouldn't order it again because there's so many good things to try but glad we tried it. All in all the chef at Kyu is hitting all the marks. Pretty wild that this was my first time at such a Miami staple. we went during happy hour and were surprised by how good the HH deals are. For the price of Kyu I was expecting to be blown away. My takeaway is this - the cocktails were fabulous, true mixology. The servers were all nice and attentive. The chicken had a nice crisp and the sauce was slightly spicy but overall for the price - It was an okay chicken dish! The short rib was cooked to perfection and served with 3 sauces that were all uniquely different from one another. It is a lot of food - so plan to split the short rib. The hamachi it was different than any Hamachi I've ever had, and for that reason, I enjoyed the uniqueness. I would absolutely order the Hamachi again. As for ambience. The restaurant itself is smaller than anticipated. I would skip the outdoor seating. Inside is dark and moody and definitely provides way nicer ambience than outdoors as the restaurant is located on a busy street. read more

Going here during Happy hour to start Cinco De Mayo was a great choice. Name is pronounced "Q" and Chris is the best bartendar there. Service was 10/10 and food came out fast. Everything was very delicious!! My first time trying stone pot rice and to see it sizzling like it's on the stove was a sight to see. Korean fried chicken paired up well. The place is noisy with voices carrying on and the seating near the booths was tight. I didn't give it five stars because my rice was burning at the bottom and the server mixed it at table side. The burnt rice was mixed in and our server didn't let us know about the difference in water. We noticed a pitcher of water being passed around after he asked us if we wanted a bottle. I'm a repeat offender at KYU, and it never disappoints. The space is modern, chic, and warm and the service matches the vibe. The servers are always attentive, and the bartenders are friendly with great drink suggestions. I went recently for brunch and got the Banana Bourbon French Toast, steak and eggs, and house-cured bacon. Everything was really, really good, but the French toast was next level, the best French toast I've ever had. I would live in it if I could. It's that good. Their cocktail menu is also excellent. Went for spice for lunch and I wasnt super impressed. For apps got the crispy rice tuna and the steak tartar. Crispy rice was super thick.. tartar was fine. Entree we got fried chicken and the buns. You can never go wrong with choosing KYU. This place consistently delivers -- from the modern, stylish interior to the outstanding service. The space is intimate yet lively, and we love how you can sit at the bar or at one of the small tables and still feel immersed in the energy of the restaurant. One of our favorite details is the open kitchen, where you can watch the chefs preparing dishes with such care and precision. We ordered a variety of dishes, and every single one was excellent. The crispy pork "guy" was a standout -- perfectly crisp, and the basil dip added a refreshing citrusy punch that balanced the richness of the pork beautifully. The hamachi crispy rice was another favorite. Unlike most places, KYU is generous with the amount of fish on each piece -- it's packed and flavorful. We never skip the roasted cauliflower. It's a must-order. The sauce it comes with is so delicious that we use it on everything else we're eating. The Korean crispy chicken also impressed us -- crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy inside. For mains, we had the Thai stone pot rice with king crab, which was rich, creamy, and full of umami. It paired beautifully with the fire-roasted branzino, which was served with a bright, fresh papaya salad that cut through the richness of the rice. We also highly recommend the duck breast -- a great protein choice with deep flavor and perfect execution. Our only complaint was with the valet service. When we arrived, the woman handling the parking outside was insistent on us leaving our car in front without initially offering the option to park in the back. Given the traffic in Wynwood and how hard it can be to reach the restaurant, we nearly agreed out of convenience. But when we asked about pricing, she hesitated before finally admitting that parking in front was $110, while in the back it was only $30 -- a significant difference that we feel should have been disclosed upfront. On top of that, after dinner, it took 30 minutes for our car to be brought back, even after we had requested it well in advance. Despite the valet situation, KYU remains one of our favorite dining spots. The food is outstanding, the ambiance is inviting, and the service inside is always top-tier. The portion to price formula made me feel seen. This is my first experience going to wynwood and I am not a person that likes crowds so, very very glad that Kyu offers valet because I can't imagine trying to find parking in this area. Valet I was $25 plus tip and definitely worth not having to deal with the hassle of finding parking in that area. This restaurant has a gorgeous interior. It wasn't as big as I thought it was going to be but can easily see large groups especially given that their whole premise is built on offering large plates to share with the table. The hostess and server were nothing special but we're very pleasant and attentive and knowledgeable. We ordered from each section of the menu, ordering Bail bonds which came with two, hamachi crudo which came with seven slices of hamachi, the king crab Hot pot rice and a side of bok choy. This was definitely enough food to feed my fiance and I and everything was absolutely delicious. Most things had a slight spicy kick to it, for those of you who are very spicy averse. The pork on the bail bonds was juicy and fatty and delicious. The hamachi was very fresh and cold and the flavors of the coconut milk and basil oil fit perfectly with the subtle flavor of the raw fish. The bok choy was garlicky and crisp. The Hot pot rice was so unique and delicious with flavors of coconut, mint, fried egg and a few crispy bits of rice that complemented the chunks of real crab throughout the pot. My fiance ordered the banana old fashioned as well as the drink titled the world is yours. He said the old fashioned was the best old-fashioned he's ever had in his life and highly recommends it. The other cocktail was good but the cute little paper airplane that came with was more exciting than the drink itself. This is a great restaurant that clearly values flavors and presentation as well as sharing that with friends and family. They have a big range of delicious cocktails and so many yummy plates that are great for sharing! Also, the s'mores cake was the best dessert I've ever had. Wow. I was in Miami for a week for a work trip and we dined here for dinner our last night in town. It's an Asian fusion type restaurant with a BBQ flare. They are also known for their wood fired cooking and I can see why. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer, Chilean Sea Bass, Brisket and Japanese sweet potato as a side. Everything was delicious. Like, put a morsel in my mouth and I gasped because of how delectable everything tasted. The sea bass was super tender and cooked perfectly with a nice flavor with a tinge of sweetness to it. It was served with a shredded carrot and basil (I think) salad that paired well together. The brisket has got to be the most tender brisket I have ever tried. It's served with lettuce leaves, pickles and dipping sauces but I only tried the meat and that was fantastic on its own. And the sweet potato, let me tell you about them sweet potatoes. My gosh, it was so good! Some caramelization which added to the flavor. We had to try dessert so opted for the S'mores cake which was divine. KYU had been on our list for a while so we were so excited to finally get a chance to try it. We were really disappointed with both the service and the food! We had an 8pm reservation to sit outside. We arrived a few minutes early and saw that there were two tables outside fully bussed and prepared with place settings. The hostess asked us to wait a few minutes, which we had no problem with. Once it hit 8:15, we started getting a little frustrated. We asked the hostess three times to seat us at the fully prepared table and she said we needed to wait. She eventually sat us at one of the tables that had been ready for over 20 minutes when we first arrived. We ordered a few drinks, one we really did not enjoy at all but that's just a matter of taste. The other three drinks we had were very good. We also ordered the tuna tataki, burrata, and soft shell bao bun. The tuna tataki and burrata were fine but not amazing. The soft shell bao bun was very wet and falling apart in our hands. Really slimy. We ordered the duck breast which was definitely the best thing we had there, but definitely not worth $46. I was amazed at how expensive the meal was and how underwhelmed we left. Kyu in Wynwood is a great spot for Asian fusion cuisine. I've been wanting to try this place for ages and I'm so happy I finally got to celebrate a milestone with my boyfriend. We had a little date night, late on a Friday evening. We made reservations so the wait wasn't long at all when we arrived. This is in the heart of Wynwood so parking can get a little hectic but we lucked out and found a great spot just a short walk away. When we walked in, we were seated right away. Our server, Andrew, was great and super attentive. We were constantly checked on and the food came out super fast. After perusing the menu, we decided to get all of my partner's favorites as he's been here many times before and has his musts when coming here. We got the roasted cauliflower, Thai rice stone pot with king crab, and the Korean Fried Chicken (but we got the bao buns for this visit). The cauliflower came out first and was probably the best cauliflower dish I've ever had. It was a big piece of cauliflower in a bed of sauce that gave the right amount of kick. I'm not usually a fan of goat cheese but it paired so perfectly with the sauce. The KFC bao buns were my favorite with the right amount of sauce and some veggies that went so well with it. The bao bun was also so soft and cooked so well. This might be the best bao bun I've ever had. As for the stone pot, it was delicious as well. It was a show with table-side service to mix it. The rice itself gives more of the porridge/risotto consistency since it had a lot of liquid in it but the rice soaks it up with the heat of the pot. This I found tasted even better as leftovers the next day. I think I'm not much of a fan of king crab so I might try one of the other proteins next time. For drinks, we opted out of alcohol for the night and just ended up getting the matcha shake. It was pretty good and gave pina colada vibes but with matcha. Of course, we had to end the night with dessert which we got their iconic coconut cake to go. SO GOOD... and I'm not even much of a coconut girl. The inside of the restaurant was super cute and chic.
