Amazing miso chocolate chip cookies
Rajiv K.

Located in the beautiful design district, it's always fun to walk around and explore the roaring art exhibits. The neighborhood is safe and has a few affordable parking garages. Nami Nori itself didn't have tok much outside signage, but once you find it there's a nice smallish interior with a beautiful designed sushi bar and an outside with a few tables. This place is fun, and a newer experience for me. You can chose a number of high quality hand rolls and then you "make" them yourself as a final touch. Prices aren't cheap, but the quality here was worth it. I loved the scallop hand roll the most, but honestly really enjoyed everything I ate. The cookies were also surprisingly good and perfectly baked. I enjoyed the cocktail I got and felt our server was very friendly, patient and capable. While our first order came out quick, the kitchen did seem to get backed up on our second round. I think just a one off though, and the staff handled the situation very gracefully. I look forward to trying this place again and sharing it with others!

starter set

Excellent sushi in Miami Design District - thank you, Nami Nori, for bringing it from NYC. It's a perfect place for a lunch in gorgeous outdoors setting. The service was impeccable (I didn't mind them adding an automatic 20% gratuity), the sushi was fresh and perfect rice flavor. The starter set consists of 5 "nigiri" (not really but best way to describe it) and was pretty filling. I'd def be back!

Echigo Flying IPA brewed in Japan.

Celebrity labels have gone too far: Kendall Jenner promotes a mid tequila, Guy Fieri pushes cigars, and now Pharrell Williams has rolls sushi?! I didn't know what to expect at Nami Nori, or Seaweed Wave, maybe staff in furry bowler hats and bossa nova covers of Neptune's classics, but reality was nothing like the fever dream in my head. Instead, imagine Tulum‑spa aesthetics: natural tones, soft lighting, and quiet deep‑house tracks that act as chatter-muting white noise. I booked via the Sapphire Reserve Exclusive Tables portal on OpenTable two weeks out, and the only available spots were sushi‑counter seats. These seats put you in front of all the chefy action, and your plates arrive the moment they're crafted, not to be confused with the walk‑in bar beside the hostess stand. There, your whole order arrives at once while you sample curiosities like a Japanese whiskey espresso martinis, Kagua Hefeweizen, or Echigo Flying IPA. Nami Nori's commitment to staying authentic and affordable in a neighborhood that's neither is genuinely commendable. "Affordable" is relative, of course, but two people with two appetizers, seven courses each, nonalcoholic drinks, and gratuity came to $150. I recommend the Signature Temaki Set and, shockingly, as a protein‑obsessed omnivore, the Vegan Set. The Signature set travels the globe: Hawaiian Tuna Poké, Mexican Spicy Salmon Serrano, and Thai‑inspired Crispy Coconut‑Curry Shrimp. The Vegan set hits even harder, with layers of flavors and textures you rarely see in plant‑based dishes: puffed‑rice‑wrapped Avo Toast with pickled beets and shaved carrots; toothsome Sweet Potato Tempura; and the most surprising, Cucumber‑Black Sesame, which delivers the juiciness of cucumber and the umami of toasted sesame, tricking your brain into thinking you're chewing simmered meat. Honestly, if Pharrell keeps dropping sushi hits this good, I won't complain as long as he doesn't follow it up with leche de tigre moisturizer or ceviche‑scented candles. For your final bite, go for the Ocean Trout Sashimi with shiso, daikon, and a drizzle of puréed scallions; it hits every flavor receptor like a precision strike. If you insist on dessert, order the crunch‑maxed Mochi Churros with lemon curd dipping sauce.

If I'm being completely honest, this is the best restaurant I have ever been to. 20/10, absolutely stellar food and excellent service. I'm honestly still in awe of how incredible each dish tasted. Every dish was plated beautifully and packed with flavor. Karla took great care of us and I loved how attentive the manager and team were. Someone was always stopping by to either check in, drop food, or to clear the table. If you haven't tried this place yet, get ready to be obsessed!!!

I had such high expectations for this place and was a bit let down. Overall, it is a great vibe inside with bar seating, outdoor patio, and regular tables. The servers were very friendly and helpful with what to order. The matcha margarita is probably my most favorite drink I've ever had. That leaves the food. I tried the crudo appetizer, tuna poke handroll, hamachi handroll, and scallop handroll with crispy rice on the outside. None of these items stood out to me and definitely lacked flavor. Soy sauce essential in making it anywhere close to flavorful. The ingredients were fresh but at the price you're paying you expect more. The ambiance, presentation of food, and drinks were all great though and if you don't care too much about the handrolls I would recommend. If wanting a good handroll for a better price there are other places like omakai handroll bar. Overall I think it just depends what vibe you want and how much you're willing to spend. While I will probably not be back here I did enjoy my experience.

Found Nami Nori through Bilt Dining. Lunch reservations were easy to make online on OpenTable. This location is also very convenient in Design District. I checked in earlier than my reservation time and they were very accommodating and seated me right away. Nice atmosphere inside-- bright and airy, Japandi style with terrazzo countertops. I opted to order a la carte and got a hot green tea, salmon + avocado, xo scallop, and yellowtail + scallion temaki. All were yummy and met my expectations in terms of freshness, taste, and portions. Service was efficient and friendly although more on the "corporate" side (not necessarily a bad thing, as it's not a mom-and-pop establishment). Price was on par with what I was expecting. I had a quicker lunch (in and out in ~30 minutes), so this is a good spot if you're tight on time. I would come back again.

2 signature sets & XO scallop, salmon + cucumber, toro scallion, and crab dynamite

Nami Nori is a great spot for handrolls in the Design District. Came here with friends to enjoy some handrolls and it was in an ideal spot in the Design District, right across from one of the garages. It was super packed on the day we came so we had to park at the Museum garage down the street but it wasn't too far of a walk. We were able to grab a seat indoors with a reservation for 3 and got to order right away. The service was super friendly and quick. My friend and boyfriend each ordered the signature set which comes with the tuna poke, xo scallop, coconut shrimp, salmon serrano, and cucumber black sesame. This is a great set for the price and gives a good variety. Our favorites were the coconut shrimp, scallop, and, surprisingly, the cucumber black sesame! I ended up ordering just a variety to try so I got the xo scallop, toro scallion, salmon + cucumber, and the spicy crab dynamite. I really loved all of them and want to give some love to the spicy crab dynamite because it had a crunchy layer of ricer cracker on the nori. I loved the presentation of each handroll, with the protein/base of each roll on a stick and they give you a box of nori to place it on. They have directions on how to do this and it's super simple and fun. I also love this because it keeps the nori fresh for when you're ready to eat the handroll. One of my pet peeves is a soggy nori when eating handrolls so I thought this was super cute and clever for them to do. It was my first time having it like this! They also had a great selection of drinks that I wasn't able to drink this time around but would love to come back for it! Overall, a great spot and experience for handrolls!

mushroom dip

Really enjoyed this place. The signature hand roll set was great and had lots of variety. I was especially impressed that it stayed good even as a to-go order. They have great plastic packaging slips that keep the seaweed dry and crisp, which made a big difference. The mushroom dip was a pleasant surprise with great taste, a great portion, and very crunchy chips. The mochurros were amazing, with an amazing texture and really good citrus flavor. Overall, everything was well done, and even takeout held up better than expected.

Finally made it to Nami Nori in Design District to meet with some friends I hadn't seen in many years and we all loved it! The food was delicious and incredibly fresh, and the combination of flavors was better than we all expected. I thought this would be one of those places that was overhyped but it definitely was not. The restaurant is small, but there are 2 bars where you can dine/drink. There is also a very nice lounge upstairs which I personally thought was over priced, but I will say the service both upstairs at the bar/lounge and downstairs in the main dining room are fantastic! The staff were attentive and patient while we debated on what to order, but they offered great suggestions on what to order & which dishes/drinks were most popular. The bar tender upstairs was very kind and welcoming. I arrived to the restaurant a bit early, so while I waited we struck up a conversation and it was a great vibe. Sometimes the employees at nice restaurants can be a bit snooty, but that was not the case here and everyone maintained their professionalism. Overall a 10/10 experience and I cannot wait to go back for more handrolls!

The decor might be 70s monotone chic and not catch your eye in the midst of Miamis vibrant art... but definitely stop in for a handmade sushi experience. And it is an experience. Tekmaki is served one at a time at the counter... letting you savor the flavors and texture. The vegan options are top notch, and there are some gems on the menu for those who are more adventurous (and a California roll for those who don't venture beyond grocery store flavor). The highlight for me was the ocean trout and yellow tail from the cold starters menu. Do t be afraid to go out of order, go back to page 1, or try a different drink pairing. Service can be a little chaotic when it's busy but always helpful and knowledgeable.

Went here for the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit and boy was I impressed with the selection of hand rolls and appetizers. Got the coconut shrimp, toro and scallion, crab dynamite, lobster, xo scallops hand rolls with the shishito peppers and salmon crudo. The shishito peppers were one of the best I've tried in any Japanese restaurant. Perfectly smoky and salted with a miso butter sauce that was delectable. Salmon crudo was above par with most I've tried - very balanced. Onto the hand rolls - standouts for me were the toro and scallion, xo scallion, and the lobster. All were great and definitely left feeling pretty filled. Coconut shrimp had a nice crunch and different taste profile that many would enjoy! Vibe inside of the restaurant was lovely. Had very approachable and refined staff playing Afro deep melodic house for an enjoyable dinner. Would definitely dine again!!

10/10 we loved everything about this place location, ambience, plus food is just as incredible as their wait staff. Literally I have no complaints. One of the best servers I've ever had the pleasure of dining with, the only problem is, I forgot her name. She had such a great attitude, humor, and charisma; she served us in the patio. Drinks, Apps, mains, dessert all of it 100% would go again. Don't waste your time on the plethora of hand roll bars that are popping up in Miami. Just come here.

We tried Nami Nori in the Design District after visiting Dolce Gabbini museum and it's truly unique. Unlike other sushi restaurants, the food is served as open-style hand rolls instead of traditional rolls. Everything is fresh, creative, and meant to be eaten right away while the nori is crisp including imitation Krab. It's a lighter meal, so best to order a few and share. Stylish, lively atmosphere and a fun change from the usual sushi spots.

We made a reservation and called ahead specifically for omakase. We arrived at 7 pm on a Saturday night, and were told there was no omakase because they did not have enough fish. For a restaurant known for omakase and designed around bar seating for that experience, that is unacceptable. It only got worse. I ordered a beer. It never arrived, and after waiting I was told they were out. I ordered edamame. They were out of that too. Thats 7pm!!!! Thats just the beginning of dinner service on a Saturday!!!!! And the restaurant had maybe 8 people total inside. The server, a girl with long dyed red hair, started off polite but quickly became dismissive. I clearly explained that I am allergic to spicy food and asked for anything spicy on the side. Dishes kept arriving spicy anyway. Because of this, I could barely eat. My nose became completely blocked and I even started speaking differently from the reaction. Food also kept coming out wrong and very slowly. Eventually we left hungry and went next door to eat because it was impossible to get consistent service or correct dishes. At the end, instead of apologizing, the server commented that we seemed to be having fun and were even talking funny. It felt mocking, disrespectful, and unprofessional, especially considering I was reacting to the spicy food I had specifically asked to avoid. Between the lack of basic inventory at the start of the night, the repeated incorrect orders, and the dismissive attitude, this was one of the worst dining experiences I have had. This location does not reflect the standard of the South Beach restaurant. Zero stars if that were an option.

Most memorable were the clam broth, beef loin and carrots, and the fatty tuna nigiri with caviar on top. The fatty tuna nigiri with caviar was the main reason I wanted the tasting! There is an à la carte menu too, but it was a lot easier just letting the chefs portion out our meal. Would definitely check them out and enjoy a superb evening out!

There is plenty of street parking and when you walk in, you can't miss it because there isn't too many other things in the area so it's one of few. Once you enter, you're met with a lowlight, chill, and easygoing ambience. The host greets you seated at the bar/high-table. Then, the staff take care of you from there. The space is beautiful, intimate, thoughtfully designed, and the food is undeniably exquisite and of a very high standard. From a purely culinary perspective, the quality is excellent. However, the overall experience is difficult to reconcile with what is being charged. This is a highly expensive restaurant, yet the level of service and the way the experience is structured feel completely inconsistent with the price point. The staff appeared significantly understaffed and overwhelmed. On multiple occasions, we had to wait an excessive amount of time even for basic requests such as water or ginger, as the limited team was focused on managing the bar and multiple tables simultaneously, without enough support to maintain proper service flow. Even more surprising was being told, after approximately an hour and a half, that we needed to leave because other guests were waiting, as their dining experience is limited to about one hour. This policy was not communicated at any point upon arrival. At that point, the experience shifts away from anything resembling fine dining and instead feels closer to very expensive FAST food, high, quality food served under strict time pressure, with little space to actually enjoy the meal. In summary, while the food is exceptional, the combination of high pricing, rushed service, and limited attention makes the overall experience disappointing and, frankly, hard to justify. Unfortunately, it is not a place I would return to for a special occasion or a relaxed dining experience. It was absolutely disappointing
