I discovered this upscale Chinese restaurant on our last day while staying at the Marriott Marquis Biscayne Bay Hotel. It's in the little mall area to the left of the hotel. You can access the mall area from the left of the hotel lobby. What impressed me most was the presentation of all the dishes. They really took great care to make everything look beautiful. All the plates and dishes were just so stunning. The other thing that really stood out was the service. They were so friendly and helpful. I truly appreciate when servers know their menu well and are able to make suggestions. I can't remember my server's name, but she was just top-notch. We ordered: - Miso soup, (served in a charming, Japanese chawan mushi cup) the flavor was really good and strong. (I hate it when it's weak) - Spicy dumplings. They tasted homemade. Yummy - Shrimp shu mai, good, tasted as it should - Tanaka roll, with extra crispies on top, (I was not a fan because I did not expect it to be deep-fried. if it had not been deep-fried, I would've liked it.) - Peking duck served in an impressive three tier tower that looks like a round Chinese Temple. - Pork Belly Bao bun, this was also a miss for me because I expected it to taste like barbecue, but it was just really salty like they used a lot of brown salty sauce. All in all, I really enjoyed this restaurant, even though I didn't like those two items. Bec But, because of the excellent service, the atmosphere and the beautiful way they served the food, I decided to leave them a five star review. Those dishes weren't bad they just weren't what I expected. We don't live in the area so if we were to stay in this hotel again, we would definitely dine here again. This is a tastefully decorated, upscale Asian restaurant in the Hilton Biscayne bay plaza. Staff were polite and welcoming. The dishes were well presented but the taste was not outstanding. The veg dim sum was too mushy and dumplings broke down into a mess when trying to pick up with chopsticks. I expected better food especially for the premium price. read more

I stumbled upon this restaurant last minute when my first choice restaurant turned out to be closed on my last day in Miami. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how authentic it is being in Florida. The food isn't really Sichuan or chongqing cuisine as it's Chinese name suggests, at least based on the dishes we ordered - instead they are more Northern style Chinese food, nevertheless, these dishes were very well presented and tasted as close as it gets to the same food I find in China. I'd go as far as saying that the Chinese food in this restaurant taste more authentic than 80% of the Chinese restaurants I've been to even in San Francisco and Los Angeles in the last 10 years. Solid place! I came here with my friend as we needed someplace to get a snack before the evening. We came during their "happy hour" but weren't aware that that's only applied to drinks. We each got appetizers (I got the spring rolls) an he got the chicken gyoza. Both tasted great and I loved the sauce that came with the rolls. Drink wise, I got the passion fruit lemon drop which was super tasty! I've never heard of or had that variation before, but I liked it so much I plan on ordering it in the future! We were taken to Tanka by my cousin who lives in the area. It is a small, beautifully decorated restaurant with a variety of Asian dishes, as well as sushi, and a very nice bar area. The service was excellent except for the fact that all 4 of our entrees came out separately with almost 10 minutes in between. So the 1st person served was almost finished before the last person was served. The last meal out was the clay pot and it was boiling hot - literally still bubbling and way too hot to eat. Issues with the kitchen aside, all of our food was absolutely delicious. My Thai Curry chicken had the perfect ratio of chicken to vegetables and the Mongolian beef was tender and flavorful. I have now found my go to place for Asian when I'm in Miami. read more

Tanka is hidden away by the boats off of bayshore in an off beat indoor strip mall sort of set up. When we walked in nobody else was inside so we got our food pretty quickly. We had the dumplings, miso soup, and noodles as well as fried rice and 2 drinks, not sure what the names were. The noodles were ok I asked for it to be spicy with additional chili oil on the side but the best part of the meal to me was the miso soup, so rich and comforting. Our group was promptly seated, and we ordered a few appetizers to share: Crab Rangoon, Pan Fried Pork Buns, Salt & Pepper Calamari. Had a great time at Tanka. Came in while on a work trip staying at a nearby hotel. The food was amazing. I'm a sucker for crispy rice and this one did not disappoint. The dragon roll was also great. It didn't disappoint at all. The drink was delicious and something I had never had. The food was fresh, done perfectly and presentation was beautiful. My poke bowl was $19 and I couldn't finish it. I don't recall the other prices, and let me tell you, doesn't matter because you get a lot for you money. Happy hour is all day M- Th and I believe up until 6:00pm F-Sun. Drinks are half price. I'm leaving this review after dining here last night for Chinese New Year, and unfortunately it was extremely disappointing and embarrassing. I made reservations because I heard the restaurant had been renovated and was under new ownership, and I truly wanted to give it a second chance. Sadly, it was a mess from start to finish. There were only two servers for the entire restaurant, and no one was clearing tables. It took 45 minutes for our appetizers to arrive (spring rolls and dumplings). We were given only one small bowl of sauce for four people, and when I politely asked for another, I was met with a confused look as if the request was unreasonable. Once the main dishes began arriving, our plates were never changed. I had to ask multiple times for clean dishes. We ordered the half duck, and it was served ice cold. When we mentioned it, the waiter actually touched it with his hands to check because he didn't believe us. For the prices being charged, the food quality was mediocre at best. Throughout the entire meal, dishes were not cleared. We asked at least seven times. Staff simply walked past our table. Every table around us had stacks of dirty plates sitting there. My father had to sit through the entire meal looking at a pile of dirty dishes -- it was unpleasant and unacceptable. The manager did not address us properly, and communication was extremely difficult. When we asked about dessert (even just ice cream), we were told it would "take too long." At that point, we paid and left. This experience was frustrating and disappointing, especially for a holiday dinner. I truly wish we could get our money back. read more

The Service was Amazing! The bartender who is an Artist was Amazing. He was kind, knowledgeable of the menu and made delicious drinks. The waitstaff was attentive and we decided to return for another dinner there tonight. Again, everything we ordered was beyond phenomenal. The prices are good and the drinks are strong. The bowl was $19 and a good size--but may want to get a small app with it. Very fresh and tasty tuna, salmon, shrimp, crab. Ordered as takeout so can't speak to ambiance other than 8pm on a Wednesday was EMPTY. Not sure if typical in Miami but different price for card vs cash--I've seen this with gasoline but never in a restaurant. Absolutely phenomenal Asian fusion restaurant in the heart of Miami. Went on a Thursday night, the atmosphere is so cute, beautifully decorated and the service was great. Hashimi Jalapeño appetizer was exceptional. Fresh yellowtail with a ponzu sauce and sliced jalapeño, so so delicious. The cucumber sashimi sushi roll was excellent and my friends enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy dragon roll. They also have a great happy hour! Highly recommend! read more

So i asked the server where's the soup and she told me that they will serve what was cooked first. I worked in a restaurant and I know how it works. No apologies for the wait. So it's been 35 minutes and no food. The Mongolian beef came with the early cooked fried rice that is now cold. So when the food was brought out I asked where is my order General Tao chicken, the waitress said oh let me check. The waitress never came around to check on us. The food is just ok nothing to brag about. For the price we paid it's not worth it. I have been watching the other table s and food was placed on the wrong tables. read more

Quite a good crowd, with table turnover. People were quite dressy here. The food was very flavorful. I liked the pork bao bun and king salmon the best. The garlic fried rice was also a table favorite. While my friends enjoyed the duck, I felt it was a bit too fatty. The raspberry almond cake was a nice finish, and I would welcome an extra dessert option or two. I'd come back here - the food was good. Minor preferences that would be welcome from me by might be right for others: lower the music volume a tad and expand the menu with a few more dishes. I was excited to try this newish spot for modern Chinese food in Edgewater. The space is nicely decorated, dark and cozy with a large bar for seating. Located in the same building as the doubletree hotel. The menu/food is good, but the prices honestly do not match up with the taste. The wagyu dumplings were excellent, but came room temp, almost cold. Everything else was just ok... we ordered the shrimp and garlic fried rice for the entree. The shrimp came without the rice, after about 10 minutes we asked about our server to check on it but didn't end up come out for about another 10 mins. Our server did apologize (prob not her fault) and she did comp the dessert which was a nice gesture for sure. Would I try again? Sure, but not running back. read more

This was a small restaurant with quality food. The lighting was low, which created great atmosphere but made it hard to read the menu. It's Chinese food with a more upscale take on the taste of the food. The most annoying part of our meal is they forgot my meal. We had a group of seven people and everybody received their meal except me. I told are server they forgot to bring my meal out at the point where everyone was already done eating. The menu is a cool, modern take on American Chinese. The dishes that were good were flavorful, but different from what you'd normally expect from a Chinese joint in the US. Keep that in mind if you decide to come. There were a few dishes that were absolute hits-- bao buns, peking duck, general tanka chicken, and garlic fried rice. The chocolate surprise dessert was also delicious! The Peking duck comes flambéd, which was quite fun! The skin was nice and crispy. However, there were dishes that were not so great. The dim sum was bland and had an odd texture, which was such a let down because shumai is usually one of my favorites. Our drinks were watered down, too. The location is not the best, either. The restaurant is inside a dingy mall. Its pretty dark in restaurant too, which I'm not the biggest fan of. Our server was ok but our busser/food runner was fantastic! He described the dishes before placing them on the table and had a great attitude. We'll be back now that we know which dishes to avoid. read more
