I stopped by for lunch on a nice afternoon at the Brickell location. The signage outside was easy to see and locate from a distance and if I hadn't already planned on getting sushi the comedic sign out front would have been enough to get me through the door. The sushi chef was fantastic and knew exactly how to prepare some beautiful culinary creations. The salmon sashimi was hands down some of the best I've had in quite some time. My favorite nigiri was the spicy crab that was slightly crunchy, smothered in a cream sauce, and delicately topped on a nice rectangle of rice. Everything else was very well presented. The server did a great job as well and made me a really good lemonade mocktail from their menu. It was topped with mint and tasted of real lemons. The restaurant itself is just barstools around the sushi counter and two restrooms in the back. There is also outdoor seating on the steps outside. I would be delighted to return for more deliciousness here soon! read more

Bondi recently opened in my neighborhood so I was excited to try them out! I first stopped by with my husband when we were looking for a sushi spot for dinner. The inside is very intimate with a limited amount of seats. It's best if you make a reservation prior to dropping by and it's not great for large groups. The first time we had great service and hand no issues getting seated. The second time was a little different. We had a party of 5 and sat inside. Thankfully we had a reservation so we didn't have any issues getting seated! I docked stars because the service was terribly slow. There was two waiters but the restaurant was packed. We placed a large order and food started coming out as it was made but my friend didn't get her silverware after asking multiple times. She ended up getting up and getting it herself. After our appetizers all came out we placed another larger order of crispy rice and hand rolls, one of the waiters tried asking us to move outside or wrap up but once I told him we had 10 hand rolls we were waiting on he let us stay. Other guests were getting better service than us and not being asked to move although we were continuing to order throughout the night. We came across Bondi Sushi while searching for a different restaurant. After learning that the restaurant we were seeking had closed, and Bondi Sushi took over the space, Hubby and I decided to have a late lunch here. We enjoyed our experience so much that we returned with a bigger group for dinner four days later. Indoors is an island where customers can sit at the counter and observe the sushi chefs in action. Outdoors is a semi-enclosed small patio that protected us from traffic and a bit of drizzle. Between our two visits, I've had a good amount of the vegan offerings on the menu. The Shishito Peppers (sans bonito flakes) tasted like it was lightly tossed in a sweet yuzu glaze. Yum! Of the Handrolls, I've had the Eggplant Miso, Truffle Avocado Handroll, and Mushroom Tomato. While all were good, my favorite was the Truffle Avocado. Though it's an extra $2, I highly recommend getting these hand rolls with the Cauliflower Rice. We decided to stop in to Bondi Sushi on the way home. We ordered the wagyu gyoza and it was NOT good at all; tasted more like canned corned beef. I have a hard time believing it was really wagyu. we also ordered the spicy tuna and salmon crispy rice. These were not the best I've had but still good. Despite the mediocre sushi, the Service was good, very friendly. It's definitely a neighborhood spot. The space is very cute and intimate - Great for meeting up with a friend for a low key catch up near home. We originally showed up at this address looking for a completely different restaurant -- turns out, Bondi Sushi had just taken over the space. Yelp didn't even have a listing yet for Bondi at the time, it had the old restaurant. It was so new that my SO got FTR for this place. Walking in, you could still feel the newness. It was after lunch when we arrived and the wait staff had almost no idea what to actually do with us when we walked in. Finally we just sat ourselves at the sushi counter. They were literally installing bathroom signs while we were ordering. The sushi chefs were fantastic -- super friendly and genuinely excited to talk to us. They were helpful recommending what they had and also suggesting what my SO could have as a vegan. They were also great in tossing out other restaurant and cuisine recommendations they liked around Brickell when we mentioned we were out of towners that were in town for a week on business. It felt way more like a conversation with passionate food people than a stiff "server-customer" thing, which I really appreciated. Food-wise, Bondi crushed it. I wasn't too hungry but I saw they had salmon over crispy rice. What I appreciated was that it wasn't your typical minced fish over the rice (like spicy tuna), it was the whole salmon nigiri on top of the rice. And instead of deep-frying it the rice, they air-fried it which gave it this light, delicate crisp on the outside while keeping the inside soft and fluffy. It had that satisfying crunch without feeling heavy or greasy, and the salmon was delicious -- the whole thing just worked. I could've easily downed a few more of those without blinking. We ended up back here a few days later for a dinner with clients, but because that was a business dinner, I wasn't too focused on the meal itself. Although they did provide complimentary sake because they were still under a soft opening I think (or just still in the early stages). We live above the building of this new location & were excited for a new sushi place since we are always looking for good sushi. This place is AMAZING and will be our new go-to. Everything tastes so fresh and all the sushi just melts in your mouth. All the staff and the chefs are super friendly and accommodating- just a great experience overall. Sorry but after the first bite into the Nigiri I figured what this place is all about. Simply skimping on serving sizes and ingredient quality. Slivers of fish sliced so thin they were almost see through. The rice immediately broke apart, imposible to pick up. What a great spot, so glad I came in to try it! It's an intimate cozy place with bar style seating around a square station with chefs cooking in the middle. There was a dj tonight, who contributed perfectly with fresh chil vibes. Everything I ordered was delicious and the employee are warm and attentive.
