Due to a flight delay we had an unplanned overnight stay in Miami. We looked on yelp and saw Novikov close by with good ratings. We decided to check it out. We are very happy we did. The food and staff are excellent. The ambiance is cool and interesting. Kevin was our server. Great service and personality. Our meal: -Started with a Manhattan cocktail. It was perfectly prepared. -Spicy Edamame spicy and sweet very good. -Duck Lettuce Wraps a nice piece of duck breast with crispy skin on butter leaf lettuce. It was very good. -King Crab California Roll excellent -Brussels Sprouts with crispy pork belly. Also very good. We finished with the chocolate lava cake. I would have liked the cake to be a little more cooked. It was like a brownie sitting on top of chocolate soup. The flavor was good. The ginger ice cream that came with it was more ice than cream and the ginger flavor was very subtle. Valet parking is available. read more

So I really wanted to love this place. I have heard about their ladies night and happy hour specials for a couple years now. My friend suggested we go here before a movie on a Wednesday afternoon. I got there early, as we were to be at the movies, at the Silverspot by 6pm. And ladies night/happy hour starts at 5pm. Upon arrival I was greeted warmly by the hostesses and asked if I was there for ladies night. Then I was given two drink tickets. I sat at an empty bar. There was only one other person seated on the other side. At 5:15 a pack of women (5-6 ppl) walked in and started claiming seats and moving barstools around. I was saving one for my friend who was parking the car. When out of nowhere a manager (or someone who appeared to be in charge) ripped over to where we were seated and started talking to me sternly about moving chairs and saving seats. Never have I been reprimanded for saving one seat at a bar when there were other seats open. But I communicated with her that my friend was parking, and that I hadn't moved any seats. She reiterated again, no saving seats and then addressed the girls who moved the bar stools. Her tone was abrasive and honestly given what had occurred seemed out of place, especially that the bar wasn't packed and the restaurant was empty. Unfortunately, this interaction really just tinted the whole experience for me. I was scolded for something benign and also for something I had not done. Before I was admonished, I managed to order a roll (spicy tuna maki) and a drink, the agave picante. Neither was outstanding but neither were bad either. However, given the fact that it was happy hour food/free drinks it was perfectly adequate, nice presentation on both. The bartender was sweet enough and given how the manager treated us I figured he probably received similar treatment from both management and customers, or either or. So I wanted to tip him well. However, when I went to pay, the gratuity was already included and I said to him I wanted to tip him more than $2.40, because honestly he wasn't at fault at all, for how I was treated by his coworker/superior. But I guess whatever system they use makes it difficult to change because he didn't make the effort to let me pay him more. (It took very long to get our check because of said system, not sure why, but the poor man had to go hunt something down to do so. I paid with a normal card, nothing out of the ordinary as did all the people in my party.) My friend who chose the place and the other patron who was sitting at the bar both commiserated with me about the interesting treatment, and said they never saw or experienced what I did. So I hope it was a one off and maybe I was just unlucky to be seated next to a large group of ladies. But overall, if I had to recommend a place for happy hour, this wouldn't be it. Plenty of other places have better options for food/drinks and better service in the area. But I guess if you can't afford to buy yourself 2 drinks at happy hour prices and you happen to be a female, I understand its appeal. read more

You have to try the A5 Wagyu beef with the foie gras, both were incredible and full of flavor. The drinks were just as good and really well made by the bartender Domen. I was quite unimpressed with Novikov. First I made a reservation during their happy hour only to find out that the happy hour is only at the bar. If you order the same items at a table then you have to pay full price for them. My group tried a wide variety of dishes and nothing stood out. The sushi roll was unimpressive and didn't have any bold flavors. The fried boa bun was my favorite item that I ordered. The pork belly in the pork belly boa bun was tough and chewy. I was excited to try the duck but I also thought it was quite chewy. I thought the portion was quite small considering that my group ordered the whole duck. I think the duck at Hutong is much more tender and better value since the whole portion I got at Novikov is the size of the half at Hutong. read more

We chose Novikov Miami to celebrate my wife's birthday, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The highlight for me was definitely the wagyu slider--hands down the best slider we've ever had. I'm usually not a big fan of burgers or sliders, but this one completely changed my mind. It was rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The wagyu tataki was also excellent, tender and well-balanced in flavor. The sashimi and seafood were incredibly fresh, which is always a must for us, and Novikov did not disappoint. The dim sum selection was outstanding--each dish was crafted with care and packed with flavor. And the desserts? Easily some of the best we've had compared to other premium buffets--beautifully presented and delicious. What truly elevated the experience was the service. It was attentive, warm, and made us feel genuinely special throughout the brunch. We were seated outside by request and this location has a beautiful view of the bay! Our cocktails were fabulous. I got a classic Aperol spritz and my husband tried their old fashioned and loved their version. For an app we tried their wagu tacos (we thought dang, someone is putting wagu in a taco.. we have to try it!) and so glad we did. They came in a sesame crunchy shell and had a delicious aioli inside. We ordered prawn moneybags dim sum, short rib bao buns, Rolls Royce maki roll, and the chef's choice nigiri. Most people know Novikov they were one of the first to bring a luxurious edge to pan Asian food in downtown Miami. Everything they do, they do it well and you can see it in their experience. Like in their drinks like their Wasabi Martini, which I'm told it built this house. Their shishito peppers are perfectly seasoned and addictive. This cucumber tataki is incredibly light and a vegetarian's opportunity to rejoice in tataki. These black truffle, chicken and morel are not only GORGEOUS but masterfully crafted. Now this sushi roll, really took my taste buds on a journey, it was dubbed the best app of the day. Order the hamachi yuzu truffle. Trust me. Now talking about favorites, here's the duck. I came here for miami spice lunch and I liked it more than I thought I would, especially since I feel hesitant about Miami asian fusion. Starter: The cucumber tataki was ok but in the end just sliced cucumbers. I wish I got the hot and sour soup that my friend got as it had more flavor and substance. Appetizer: I got the duck and foie gras dim sum and my friend got the shrimp and cilantro dim sum and they were ok. Perhaps I was craving more of the chinese flavor. While the dumplings looked chinese, it didn't taste chinese at all. I would not get either again. Main: I got the half peking duck and actually enjoyed it. Growing up, my family would make it at home and the taste was pretty similar. They used authentic thin chewy wrappers. However I wish there was a bit more fat on the meat. The skin isn't as crispy and juicy as the ones I've had in China (but those are some high standards that have never been met in the US). For the extra $15 on top of the miami spice base price of $30, the peking duck was certainly worth it and would recommend it. The service was good but I wish they filled my water more often, especially given the saltiness of some of the dipping sauces. The decor was beautiful and well lit and stylish. We wanted something light so didn't end up doing the $30 business lunch, and just got sashimi. The ginger truffle hamachi, perfectly thin and great paired with the micro greens. Scallop truffle was not pictured but also really tasty. All 3 of us ordered the chefs recommended sashimi so they combined it into a beautiful platter with sliced fruit and dry ice. The fish was soft and really fresh quality. Presentation was all perfect and service was top notch. My one complaint was that it gets very loud somehow even with not that many people in the room. We came on a Thursday around 8p and inside was fairly empty outside of a few tables but the patios were full. First time here for a business dinner and it has a cool yet simple vibe inside. We sat at a big round table for 6 and were serviced by 2 people. Service was pretty good except one of the servers seemed new so he was forgetting orders and simple orders like water. That said the food was tasty. We tried both the sushi and the duck and although I was hesitant to order the duck here it was pretty tasty. Sushi was good and the uni was very fresh. The dishes were tasty also. We had a 5 star experience at the Novikov Sunday brunch! I was a bit worried since they changed part of it to buffet, but it did not disappoint. We selected the premium option and were immediately served our champagne. The wasabi martini is AMAZING and one of the main reasons I go to Novikov for any meal. The hot appetizers such as bok choy and premium dim sum are brought to the table. The buffet is open to both regular and premium guests and is located behind the beautiful glass display. It includes a wide array of seafood: crab claws, lobster tail, tuna, salmon, yellowtail all available as nigiri or sashimi, along with 4 different types of dim sum and miso soup. So much to choose from! My favorite bite of the day was the premium nigiri. O-toro and A5 wagyu are brought to your table, slightly torched, and served. These MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. So good! With everything being unlimited, make sure you save room for your main course. For our entrees, we ordered a half Peking duck, wagyu ribeye, and two honey truffle king crab legs. All were of course delicious. Dessert is included as well, but I could barely take a few bites I was so full. I highly recommend asking for Victoria as your server, no matter when you go to Novikov. We have sat with her 2-3 times now and she is just the BEST! She is excellent at her job. Along with being friendly and professional, she ensured we always had full drinks and plenty of food.
