What an experience! The miami spice was definitely worth it with paying $60 for the 10 course omakase. Definitely reservations are a must mainly because they only have a small seating area at the sushi bar. The chef explains each dish for you. Everything we ate melted in your mouth. It's nice to have just you and a few people enjoying the experience, makes it more intimate. Beautiful set up. Would love to come back and taste other things on the menu.
The 18 course omakase was amazing. The dishes were so unique we didn't know what we were going to try. The staff made our experience so special. The chef was super super nice. We had a blast here. I can't Wait to go again.
Went here during Miami Spice (great deal!) and I really enjoyed this! This place has the same ownership as Miss Crispy Rice, but Mr. Omakase is more focused on very fresh fish omakase made immediately in front of you. The service was wonderful, the food was AMAZING, and it was overall a fantastic spot for date night. There was a great variety of Omakase options and every course had unique flavors. Our chef also guided us how to enjoy different parts. Really lovely dinner, highly recommend.
We always make a reservation and come here when we have a virgin cruise. It's not cheap and of course the menu is omakase style so you don't exactly know what you'll be getting ahead of time but you don't have to make decisions, which is nice, tbh. It's a very intimate dining experience where you can see and talk to the chef preparing your food. Highly recommend this spot especially if you love omakase style sushi/japanese food.
This was a magnificent experience for sushi dining. My bf entertained my request to come here. We had 12 courses, each course was one technically and artistically crafted piece of sushi each for me and my bf. I am not one to eat sashimi but I indulged and lavished every piece put in front of me. The last dish was a tasty little chocolate mousse dessert. This was a lovely , intimate with extraordinary ambience for a higher end culinary date night.....it set my bday off right. You rock, bf.
Had an absolutely delicious meal for our anniversary. We opted for the 14 course experience. The spot is very small sporting only a chefs counter. But to be honest the lighting is very bright and there's a bit of open space so it doesn't really feel intimate or moody as I'd like it to be. The sushi and sashimi were so fresh and delectable. Each piece of fish was somehow better than the one before. I wasn't super excited about the appetizers or hot foods though, although I know they change depending on availability. BUT the miso soup had salmon in it as well that was easily the best miso soup I've ever had. The salmon was buttery and delicious. Our favorite bite though was probably the wagyu sashimi that was an upcharge, well worth the taste, as well as the hamachi with yuzu sushi. For dessert, they had my favorite ice cream flavor ever: black sesame!! It sounds very unusual, but it's so good - don't knock it till you try it. Our chef wasn't too chatty. Would just pass by and when serving the dish and told us what it was. Which kinda left us disappointed as sitting literally face to face with the chef you'd expect a bit more interaction. The service was quick but not too quick. Had a good pace from start to finish and it definitely left us full and satisfied. Overall, this is easily the best value in terms of cost and quality when it comes to Omakase in Miami. Starting cost of $89 per person is unheard of here. Would definitely recommend!

Katrina was our server who was incredible explaining us the sake options and taking care of us the whole time super attentive & sweet . Rio our chef was awesome great conversation and endless laughs will definitely be booking again soon and recommending to every I know ! What a gem
This was my first omakese experience, and what a great value for the price! Normally $89, we did the Miami Spice 10 course omakese for $60 per person. It did involve prepaying and a reservation, and you can choose from the 4pm, 6pm, 8pm, or 10pm seatings. There are only about 15 seats, so I wouldn't suggest trying to stop in without a reservation. The restaurant is small, quiet, and intimate, great for a date or a dinner with 1-2 people. In case you're not familiar, omakese is a unique, multi-course Japanese meal where each course is determined by the chef, using fresh ingredients and creative preparations that change frequently, if not daily. Each course is small and consists of just one thing, which the chef explains verbally. Mr. Omakese has 10 course, 14 course, and 18 course options. They also have a few a la carte items you can add on in addition to the chef's chosen courses. My only complaint was that there was about a half hour in between the start of the reservation and the first course being served. I was eager to get started! We ordered a carafe of sake to accompany our courses and it was placed in a bowl of ice next to us to keep it cold. The first course served was an octopus salad, very delicious and simple. The next course was a fried snapper. This course was one of the larger ones, but the fish was a little dry and could have used some sauce to compliment it. Next came the sashimi course - two pieces of salmon & two pieces of hamachi. The hamachi was served in a tangy reduction, similar to a tiradito preparation. This was the only course we were given soy sauce for, as you're expected to eat each course as the chef prepares it. Next came three pieces of nigiri, consecutively and eaten with your fingers. They give you a little wet towel to wipe your fingers on after each course. The rice component of the nigiri was hot and fresh with each piece. The first fish was a striped jack. The second was a Japanese barracuda torched right before serving (this was my favorite and I ordered a second!), and lastly a lean tuna. All three pieces were so fresh and delicious. The next few courses consisted of a handroll, chawanmushi (a savory custard-like dish), miso soup, and dessert (Japanese cheesecake or sesame ice cream). The service was great - the server was attentive and the chef was detailed in explaining what was in each course. We chose the 10 course since that was what was included in Miami Spice, however outside Miami Spice I'd recommend either the 14 or 18 course for the full experience! I did feel like I wanted a little bit more food with the 10 course, but of course you can always opt for a couple pieces a la carte as well. Mr. Omakese is a budget-friendly yet very high quality and delicious omakese, I'd highly recommend!
Last year's Miami Spice Mr. Omakase was my absolute favorite, as you can see by the below review. I was so eager and excited to come back, and I was so disappointed. It was not sushi forward at all, with only three pieces of their most affordable nigiri, and one handroll. Though the sushi was delicious and fresh, I come to an omakase for a sushi forward experience, and this was not it. We left the experience feeling hungry, and that has not been my experience with Mr. Omakase in the past. All of the food was good, don't get me wrong, but nothing WOWed me, and it was not worth the price this time around. The photo of the scallop, are uni/ikura pieces I bought separately - whereas last year the Spice menu included the scallop and the toro. All in all, while I was inviting everyone I knew to come with me to the Spice experience this year and disappointed, I will not be coming back to their Miami Spice next year.

came here for the $60 omakase dinner and we were impressed by the quality. every piece of nigiri was delicious, well prepared, fresh and had unique but still traditional flavor profiles. i would come back again and try their 14 course omakase. we had uchi the night before and this place is way better and way more worth it.
Mr Omakase exceeded my expectations. We went for a 14 course meal, which took about 1.5-2 hours - they are just slightly faster than the other omakase places I've been to, which I appreciated. Chef Rio prepared the food in front of us and was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the delicious food and the engaging conversation about his home country Japan. I highly recommend getting the sake pairing which makes the food go down easier - it is so much food that we were stuffed half meal! The ambience was great too, not too loud, not too noisy. The place is small and feels very cozy. There is a parking lot across the street, which costs $30 for 2 hours, however I recommend using the valet option in front of the restaurant that is twice cheaper.
What an amazing experience! Highly recommended. I wanted to book an omakase experience for my partner's birthday so I booked the 16 course for 2 people which was around $119 per person. You pay in advance and then unless you order something there you dont need to pay anything extra. We went there hungry and by the end we were stuffed. It is alot of food and you won't feel hungry. The quality is exceptional of the fish and the rice. There was not one single course i did not love. It was casual yet intimate and not crowded. Amazing experience. read more

We arrived early for our reservation & the space was empty, but quickly filled in. The sushi was quite good, with some really interesting flavors. Loved how it was served on warm rice. As someone who can put away A LOT of sushi, 16 courses for $150 was a little underwhelming, to be honest. Service was attentive. I guess I was expecting Michelin-level, unfairly. Was solid. read more
Another favorite omakase sushi spot in downtown. I have gone there for their regular menu as well as Miami spice and both are phenomenal !! It's a small intimate space that you need to book and pre pay ahead of time but It's worth it. The service has been good the times I've gone. read more

Yet again. 3rd times a charm. Can you tell we LOVE this place? We headed over to Mr. omakase again and booked out the whole place for our friends and loved ones on a Thursday night before our wedding weekend! Will always come back to see Ryo and Surab when we're in Miami! The sushi and quality is elite. Service is so exceptional, ambiance is always amazing and this time, it wouldn't have been more perfect being in the restaurant with everyone we knew. Highly recommend doing this for big gatherings and if you love omakase. read more

I was visiting Miami for the SOBE food and wine festival and was lucky enough to find this gem! The omakase was great and a the pricing was affordable for quality fish. They have options for 10, 14, and 18 courses and you can book your reservations online on Tock. You do have to pay in full in advance since it is a small restaurant. I did the 14 course for $109 and added on supplemental uni at the end. Service was great and expect the experience to be 1.5-2hrs. Truly a culinary experience! To begin with, reservations are required as well as payment prior on Tock. It's chef's pick for all the food. It included a starter, sashimi, nigiri, hand roll, miso soup, and dessert. The stars of the show were all the nigiri. Rio made sure to pick atypical fish to make sure the experience was memorable. What a great great great experience! If you're hesitant to book, book! It's great for birthdays, date nights, and casual dining - but it can be a pretty penny. read more
Chef Ryo was informative and pleasant. Talk him up. He shared his favorite pop-up spots in the area. The omakase experience is always fun and I found the value to be very good. We did not have one bite we did not enjoy. The fish is uber-fresh and delicious! For me the sake menu was impressive. The Drunken Whale is an excellent bottle, reasonably priced. The only reason this is four stars and not five is the ambiance. I think there could be an improvement. read more

Believe it or not, this was my first omakase experience and won't be the last. This place really impressed me and thank God for my dear friend Jojo for taking me. We opted for the 18-course experience. For $119 a person this was a bargain. But don't be fooled by the price, because everything the chef prepared for us was simply superb. I cant' remember the name of each dish but that's exactly the point of an omakase experience...to be surprised! I sure was. Each morsel was super fresh and expertly crafted by the talented sushi chef right before your eyes. I was mesmerized by his skill and couldn't stop watching him create dish after dish. Service also was on point. From the minute we walked in, we were treated like royalty. Folks, if you haven't been, I highly recommend Mr Omakase. The ambiance is casual, the restaurant is airy, service is attentive and the food is spectacular. Worth every penny :) read more

Highlights: * An affordable Omakase experience * Choose from $69 - $119 for 10, 14 or 18 items/courses * Fairly priced wine list * 13 sakes ranking from $33 for 1/2 bottle to $400 for a top of the line treat * 8 seats at the counter with energetic but not too loud music in the background * You pay in full in advance with your reservation Omakase translates as "I'll leave it up to you" or "I trust the chef" and in the past few years there has been an explosion of Omakase venues in the greater Miami area. People struggle get reservations at Naoe ($280++ per person), Nossa ($250-$300++ pp), ZZ's ($250+++) for the privilege of spending $400 or more per person for the Omakase with upgrades, drinks, tax and tip, and many spend far more. It's refreshing to find an option that satisfies your stomach as well as your wallet. Andrew Mayer and Ryan Leto, founders of Poke OG, partnered with Chef Ryo Kato to bring a quality but affordable Omakase experience to Miami with the added benefit of allowing you to decide on the size and price of the meal. Andrew and Ryan started their culinary careers with Roy Yamaguchi. There are just 8 seats at the counter, socially distanced, and there are up to three seatings per night. We went for the 18 item selection for $119 + tax and service and were very pleased with the quality and presentations. We paid an extra $15 per person for a Wagyu course. Yelp only allows one overall star rating, but food, service, value, portion size, presentation and atmosphere are all factors that diners value differently. I give Mr. Omakase 5 stars for Value. The quality of the fish is on par with far more expensive places. You will not get Osetra caviar as you do with more expensive experiences, and there is less of a wow factor but if that is not so important to you you should have a good experience here. In addition to a 13 bottle sake selection there are 14 wine choices including 6 by the glass starting at $10 for Prosecco and maxing out at $14. Wines by the bottle are very fairly priced. You can find Voirin Jumel Champagne for only $75 as well as Piper Heidsieck Rose and Bollinger for more if you're looking for good sushi pairings. Cabernet would not pair well with sushi but if you like Silver Oak (Alexander Valley) it's priced very fairly at $120 while the retail is $75. Wine markups are closer to 1.5 times retail rather than 2++ times you find elsewhere. With the 18 "Course" menu we began with a shrimp and eggplant starter, followed by crispy Kakipi fried fish, then 6 pieces of sashimi served together which included 2 very tasty smoked selections. That was followed by 12 courses of nigiri. The nigiri were all excellent, a good variety of top quality fresh fish. Next up was Chawanmushi a Japanese egg custard steamed in a tea bowl, a handroll, Miso soup, our added Wagyu nigiri and dessert. We are not fans of Miso soup but Ryan insisted we try it, and we actually liked it. I will never love Miso soup but this one has more flavor, body and complexity than all the others I have tried. Dessert was a choice of mochis, coconut, chocolate or green tea and another dessert that will remind you of Tiramisu. I believe it is from Super Bake House. Bottom line, if you want something better than neighborhood sushi and more affordable than Nobu, and you're comfortable paying in advance and not being able to cancel last minute, Mr. Omakase should be on your list. read more
Mr. Omakase is a hidden gem in Downtown Miami. Located in Centro Condominium on the first floor, this restaurant is definitely one of those places that need to be added to your list. The most important step is making a reservation in advance and choose the menu option that you are interested in. There are 3 options to choose from, and you pay the moment you make the reservation. They are closed on Mondays. It is a small restaurant, so space is limited. The menu changes, so each time that I have gone, it has been a totally different culinary experience. They do have a drink menu, which will include a good selection of wines, bubbly, and beers. They do have a great selection of sakes, that can be ordered by the bottle or carafe if I am not mistaken. The chef will cook and prepare the dishes in front of you and will explain the ingredients, their origin, and how they compliment each other. My husband and I have been 3 times and will definitely be coming back! read more

Went here during Valentine's Day and although the menu was predetermined it was really good. The restaurant was a small but really intimate location that had really great personal service. The food ended up being surprisingly a decent portion and the sushi was impressive. The presentation along with the taste was unique but also vibrant that made my tastebuds dance. Would definitely recommend and will be going back read more

Food: This was our first time doing Omakase. We registered online for a 14 course. There were three options which were 10, 14, and 18 course. Most of the pieces were good especially the otoro fatty tuna! That was one of our favorites! It was hard to understand what the chef was saying after he gave us each piece what because of his thick Latin accent. They served us the miso soup at the end which counted as a course. The dessert was extra. We ordered an extra a là carte wagyu piece which cost us $15 each. Price: They included 20% service charge when we paid the total with the extra wagyu was $321 between two people. They included $1 for glass water but they called it Vero on the receipt. Service: We went on a Thursday night. There was only one other couple besides us. The waiter was on us after every course. She definitely gave us a lot of attention. She did seem a little uptight/snobby but maybe she had a lot to do for two customers. The chef was nice though. Overall: First time trying Omakase. We will not come here again though. For what we paid the service was definitely not worth it. The food was good though only 2-3 pieces that could be better read more

This place was amazing. It's a typical omakase experience which the chef told us meant "you choose." Every course was delicious on its own. Such fresh seafood and a real combinations of fresh ingredients was truly the treat we needed. We were celebrating a friends birthday and she was so excited about this place. It's a bit more intimate than other places as the availability is really limited ( i think patrons 10 at a time) My favorite part was that the chef gave us great recommendations and hidden gems all through out the city. 9/10 read more
Absolutely incredible. My friend treated me to the 14-course Omakase and it was one of my favorite dinners ever. The fish is so fresh and such a difference in comparison to other sushi spots. The sushi chefs are so knowledgeable and describe each plate as it is served. The ambiance is nice as it is a very intimate, small restaurant. I am planning to return soon and can't wait. At $109 for a 14-course omakase, I believe it is well worth the price. read more
