We've done several fine dinning establishments in miami and the food and service except for two places where great. However, our favorite has been sushi bar with the omakase menu. The ambience is secluded and warm without losing its chic feeling. The two chefs had a great personality and we had great conversations. The food was absolutely amazing. Each course had a completely distinct flavor profile and played off one another very well. None where so over powering that it made the other seem bland. Extremely well balanced with amazing flavors. For a nice night out. Stay at the beach for the weekend, take an uber to the restaurant, immerse yourself for an hour or so of culinary delight, and let the outside world melt away in the experience. read more

My husband and I love omakase, and we definitely wanted to check out one while we were travelling in Miami. We normally check the Michelin Guide first but there's none for Miami so we decided to browse through Tock for fun. This was how we stumbled upon Sushi Bar and we are so glad we did! The price point of $185 per seating is super worth it. You get a lot of fish and they are very creative with each nigiri. Their spin on it shows their creative side (with Miami flavors) but is not super over the top and sauce does not drown out the freshness of the fish. Something that stood out to me was how they shaved frozen monkfish liver as a topping. I wanna go back just for that!! They also had some pieces where they smoked the fish. Besides the food, I thought it was very creative how they welcomed guests with a welcome drink at the hotel bar. This was so unique! We finished ours early, and had some of their other drinks - they were all very good! Once they're ready, a server came to get us from the hotel bar and led us through an alleyway to a separate building which was where the actual omakase was taking place. The atmosphere was dark and gave off speakeasy vibes, which I thought was different to other omakase places. Bar is spacious enough to still have private conversations. Greater at the bar with two complimentary cocktails and then guided to a quiet and intimate dining room with room for 14 (if you buy out the place). Just wow. This was the best sushi experience I have had in Miami. We went for a special Bilt Rent Day Event and were treated to a private omakase. The setting was lush, intimate, and comfortable. Each course (nigiri except for the first hand roll) was made in front of us and explained in full. Toro was a highlight but honestly I am hard pressed to pick a favorite. I decided on four stars because this is a good opportunity to communicate how a restaurant can actually improve Sushi in Miami is usually not a respectful endeavor here it definitely is the quality of the fish and the creativity of the chef was surprisingly excellent. I live in New York half of the time and go to all the top match sushi restaurants, and I must say that every time I got a bite of the Nigiri , I was surprised about how good it was how balanced it was and how thoughtful the ingredients were I got really worried at the beginning because of the antics of the Manager. I felt like a elementary school kid was lined up in the patio before going to class. I'm being yelled at by the principal. The manager is incredibly knowledgeable about sake and Japanese food, and it's not necessary to go through the process of the behavior in advance of the meal he kept referring as my restaurant my Sushi, my sake, my Wine list As soon as we sat down, and the sushi chef took over then he calmed down and I hope that in the future that attitude and that display of knowledge is what dominates versus being treated like a high school or an elementary school kid by the principal overall the food was terrific and well worth the price read more

I highly recommend the omakase experience at Sushi Bar. It is an event you won't soon forget. The evening begins with a complimentary cocktail in the courtyard. You are then ushered into a dimly lit room where you are introduced to the team that will cater to your every need. As the evening progresses, the chef describes the unique flavor of each bite. The omakase was full of a variety of dishes I was stuffed in the end. parking is tough would recommend valet. It's inside of a hotel on south beach! In Miami, FL. you get wonderful sites of Miami if your coming into town or even just a local taking a trip down to the beach. In the lobby you let reception know your there for the omakase and they lead you to a bar lounge in a section of the hotel very sexy dark vibes, delicious drinks, service was excellent and it was included in the omakase price so I ordered two drinks! then once the omakase is ready to start they walk you down a path to another part of the hotel to a room that's the "sushi bar" only couple seats, super intimate and very interactive experience. I was so happy with each bite and wanted more of each!! I am planning on going back for sure. The omakase was almost two hours explained each dish, all made infront of you - lovely touch of your name plate once your walk in, first thing you see. My wife and I have fortunately savored a large handful of omakase experiences. The distinction between great, amazing, and OMG walks a fine line because chefs are getting better at their craft. Would I dare to say that this tops the top of my omakase list? It's not a hard no but this spot easily makes it in my top 5 of all time. Cliff note: you will leave abundantly full in your belly so don't take the 17-course omakase for granted in any way. The "show" is outrageously and meticulously handled with the utmost care by the master artists behind the bar. Great experience! Amazing food and drink. Chefs and bartender explained food and drink as served. It's the whole experience that makes it great tho. It started out entering the Esmé hotel, making our way back to the Bamboo Room for our welcome drink, then after everyone arrived, we were shown to another area where there a sushi bar and the chefs were there setting up for our service. Our meal included 10 courses but at the end were given an option to choose from an optional menu-we chose 3 more. We also chose to add on a sake flight. Oh and we also had dessert. Something I love about getting sushi in the south is: they are not scared of flavor!! Seasonings and spices. Plain raw fish gets a little bland, and Sushi Bar made sure to avoid that. Atmosphere is very intimate and close, dark and romantic. Only downfall is it's almost TOO close--venue was VERY small. Looks like settings maximum 20-25 at a time. They need to downsize the chairs as they are too large, & make the space cramped, and hard to get out to use the bathroom, which is quite a treck as well... So, when you see not only excellence in preparation, and absolutely the best fish, and amazing, improvised preparations that fuse the omakase traditions with new ideas, this is a mind blowing WOW! 17 single nigiri or other experiences plus dessert. It's as much theatre as it is a meal. You start in a small speakeasy, at the front of the hotel inside which it's housed, for a complimentary craft cocktail. Then you are led back to a small room that is a temple to traditions and molecular gastronomy, with a whole contemporary overlay of flavors that are the end of the road for words and the beginning of onomatopoeia: mmmm ooooh aaaah. We had a tartare in a shiso leaf, a mackerel with an "everything" topping, and so much more that was just spectacular. They offer teas, wines, sakes, and some very stylish craft cocktails. Service is superior. Finding the place, and parking, were a bit tricky, and the reservation system online could be a WHOLE lot clearer. Once you get here, you'll be amazed. I highly recommend you ask for their sparkling sake! Sam, the manager, is extremely personable and kind. He always goes out of his way to take care of us. Fish was out of this world delicious and fresh. I was initially skeptical about ordering extra $ enhancements. Lets face it, it is Miami and here you get truffles, foie gras and caviar thrown on anything under the sun to wow instagrammers with underdeveloped taste buds regardless of how well it actually combines with the food. This was not the case here. Foie gras and toro is a match made in heaven (to our surprise). Sturgeon caviar gave a sophisticated blue cheese like edge to the fish it was served with. Loved the overall concept of combining the ingredients in a way that in their totality they resembled foods that have nothing to do with Japanese cuisine such as "everything bagel with lox" sushi. Chefs were very personable and enthusiastically shared with us the story and idea behind each item while demonstrating their exceptional knife skills.
