I have been a Zuma customer in different countries and have also been to Zuma Miami many times, so this was especially disappointing. The food was good, but honestly, it was not memorable. What really disappointed me was the service and, more importantly, the way the situation was handled. We were never informed when we arrived that there was a strict two hour limit on our table. Exactly at the two hour mark, while we were still dining and before we could order dessert, our server told us that we had to leave because another reservation was waiting for the table. I tried to order another drink, but instead of allowing us to finish our experience naturally, the server sent the manager to bring us the check. I completely understand that a restaurant needs to manage reservations and table times. That is not the issue. The issue is how it was communicated and handled. The interaction felt abrupt, cold and unnecessarily rude, and it was completely inconsistent with the level of hospitality I have experienced from Zuma in the past. We were also charged a 20% service charge, which came to $103.60. Given the way the service was handled, I asked the manager if the service charge could be removed as a courtesy. The manager refused. As someone who has been a loyal Zuma customer, including many visits to Zuma Miami, I found this experience particularly disappointing. The food was fine, but it was not exceptional enough to make up for the way we were treated. Unfortunately, this experience changed my perception of Zuma Miami. I would not return, and I would think twice before choosing Zuma at another destination. The way a restaurant handles an uncomfortable situation says a lot about its hospitality, and this one left a very bad impression. read more

Honestly I have mixed feelings about Zuma, mostly due to higher expectations set because of my wife's prior experience there (raved about it) and others recommendations. Don't get me wrong, they are still excellent, but this is more of a 4.4 than a true 5 star. For me Zuma had a pleasant ambiance, lots of beautiful people, great outdoor seating to watch the yachts go by. So if that's what you are looking for, this is a good place to stop in. Also I give them points for not rushing you even though in their policy there is a seating time limit. We ended up just ordering the premium omakase, and that was quite a bit of food. I am glad I didn't order extras like I usually like to do at an Omakase. While the food in general is good and enjoyable, there was nothing very memorable, other than their Lava cake. That was to die for! And I skips dessert 99% of the time. Service was good but not stellar, could be because they had wait staff in training (during table service, our server didn't really know how to properly shave a truffle and another staff had to take over. As a resident of the building, my cousin is permitted a 15% discount on the total bill. The check came, no discount. Called the server over, explained...then came manager. She says her hands are tied nothing she can do if 8 or more guests no discount (we were 6 adults and two little kids) celebrating his mom's birthday. Cool. Show us where it says that be sure nobody told us that when he reserved as a resident. Apparently it's not written it's and "unwritten rule" that they all know about and expect others to read their mind. So why does he mention he's a resident when reserving, nobody tells him then, nobody tells him now it's just "known". He asks then why do they want us to tell them we are residents coming for brunch? She states "because we treat residents better than those who don't live here". Swear. She said it. Everyone heard her. Then she tells us you can speak to concierge. Perfect. We go speak to concierge. They looked at us like we were crazy. They have nothing to do with the restaurant and have no idea why they would tell us that. We go back again she calls someone who she claimed she already called when her hands were tied. Clearly she never did because this was the first he heard about it. He stated the same. Unwritten rule that nobody knows and no need to tell. So while 15 percent off of $1030 bill may only be $150 in their eyes, its principles. So here we are. Won't be back, but I'm sure that's typical there. They just cater to tourism and hotel and I get it. read more

Okay.... This restaurant is very... bipolar. Located in the Kimpton Epic Hotel, we took the train down to Miami one Friday, didn't get into the lobby until around 11 pm on a Friday. We're told to go upstairs for food only to find the restaurant closed. Went down to Zuma, even as guests at the hotel we couldn't get in because of our clothes. Second time at the Kimpton, made reservations for 6 pm, everything is great and normal. The menu has a lot! Idk if I love that idea or hate it. The skirt steak is not like any other one 've had before - in a good way! They made my son plain cumber rolls, which was accommodating. We sat outside by the water just in time for all the yacht rentals to roll in. read more

Amazing experience! We are visiting Miami and Isaac took such great care of us. He explained the menu so wonderfully and created a memorable experience for us. We chose the chef's selection of the menu and it gave us a great array of the menu and what Zuma has to offer. The scallops were out favorite! They also have an extensive cocktail/sake/wine/liquor menu. We loved the Japanese Old Fashioned and Osaka Spritz. We were able to sit outside on a gorgeous night, which offered dim lighting with mini lights on every table. The only downside was some of the people bringing out the food did not speak loud enough to explain what type of dish they brought. Minor issue for the great overall experience. read more

We went to Zuma Miami to celebrate our anniversary, and overall it was a great experience. The restaurant was actually smaller than we expected, especially since it looked much bigger in the YouTube videos we had watched beforehand. It still has a nice atmosphere, but just something to keep in mind if you're expecting a very large space. Parking was a bit tricky. The valet in the area costs about $28 plus tax, and personally I don't like other people driving my Tesla. Because of that, I decided to park at the garage next to Whole Foods, which worked out better for us. As for the food, it was very good and the service was excellent. Unfortunately, a couple of the dishes we were excited to try were not available that night, including the famous onsen egg and the beef sticks, which was a little disappointing. The miso soup was very good, and all of the sashimi was fresh and high quality. We also really enjoyed the New York strip and the tenderloin, both cooked well and full of flavor. One interesting detail is that desserts are served in another room, and they were amazing--definitely worth saving some space for. We celebrated my wife's 35 (she will kill me for posting her age!) Birthday for Saturday brunch. And we were left in awe. Amazing quality and selection of food. All upscale sushi food. I've never eaten so much wagyu and himachi in my life. The service was also amazing. Our waiter just kept refilling my champagne I think I drank 2 bottles in 2 hours. I didn't feel rushed at all. I came here for my birthday for Saturday brunch. OMG it was amazing. Not your basic Miami brunch with eggs and waffles. If you are looking for that this place is not it. Now, upon doing some research, I realize maybe I should have known but I didn't so we're moving on. What a wonderful meal. Firstly, everything was shared - so I got to try a lot which is my fave. I have to say I was a bit disappointed at this Zuma location... I've been to Vegas and Boston and they were both different experiences from this one. One major difference was that this location did not have any tempura... how does a Japanese sushi restaurant not have tempura? It looks like it was on before based on the yelp pictures. We also thought that the food lacked seasoning and the service was just so so compared to the other locations. The bone in ribeye was just okay... as was everything else. I would probably pass on this one on my next trip to Miami, maybe try the brunch next time. read more

I've been to Zuma several times. Always for the legendary brunch buffet, and once for a special event I helped plan. If the weather's right, sitting outside instantly feels like a luxury vacation (even if you're a local). The food is phenomenal. Calling it a "buffet" feels almost disrespectful. It's obvious that there's thought behind the quality, variety, and presentation. The abundance is visually very striking. The soup, carving stations, sushi, desserts every bite is a dream. The staff at each station were kind, professional, and clearly take pride in what they do. That said, the one inconsistent element is the table service. I totally understand they're busy, it's Zuma, after all, but for a restaurant of this caliber, I'd expect not to feel rushed. At a place this elevated, especially a buffet, guests should feel welcomed to settle in and enjoy, not pushed along. One last tip: they do validate parking, which is a win in Brickell! See pics, and if it looks enticing, I'm sure you can show the pics to your waiter, and they'll be able to name it! I do remember their tequila shots presentation! Honestly pretty disappointing. Spent about $600 for two people and left feeling underwhelmed. The service felt lazy and unbothered, with little attention or excitement the entire night. The food was just okay. They call it omakase but only one part of the meal actually was. The rest felt like a normal menu dressed up as something special. Quality of the fish and meat was fine but not impressive. A lot of dishes were mid and kind of bland. The only things that really stood out were the scallops and pork belly. It's been a hot minute since I last lived in Miami and I forgot the practice that some restaurants do in automatically adding 18-20% tip due to the abundance of European tourists that don't adhere to the US tipping standards that visit. Usually it's a bit clearer on the check and the tip area is labeled "additional tip". Well, it's not obvious on this check... it's not until you add the tip and sign the bill that you find in small print at the bottom that 20% has already been added. So yeah... it's a bit disingenuous to the point that I wonder how many inadvertent additional tips they're actually collecting. read more

The tuna was very smooth and I'd have to say better than the scallops. The scallops were very soft and good for the most part. Located inside the Kimpton Epic Hotel, for 9:30p on a Saturday evening, it was pretty packed, the DJ was really good and high energy. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant on the patio which was a lot quieter but still perfect. We ordered a round of drinks to start - I ordered my standard Paloma and was extremely disappointed. It had no taste - not sure if they used grapefruit soda but it might've been flat plus the tequila they used wasn't the greatest so it tasted watered down. We sent it back and received the same thing but adding more grapefruit juice made it bearable. After ordering an assortment al la carte, the Chilean seabass and Waygu were the highlight. The seabass was super flavorful with a tangy, creamy citrus sauce and prepared perfectly while the Waygu was savory and tender. The remaining options were just ok, nothing too exciting. The shrimp was bland, the corn was good (like elote) and the broccolini was standard. Our server was very helpful and attentive, and did his best to right the cocktail, but unless you're eating sushi, expect to pay for the vibe and location rather than the food. read more

Updating my review because my recent experience at Zuma truly deserves a standing ovation! I visited for Sunday brunch with a group of six, and at $140 per person, I was hoping for an exceptional experience--Zuma delivered beyond expectations! We arrived at 2 PM, were seated promptly, and welcomed with drinks of our choice. I opted for the Shojo Spritz (their twist on an Aperol Spritz), and it quickly became my go-to, flowing throughout the brunch. With a DJ spinning great hits and an overwhelming variety of bites, the entire ambiance was perfect. The food quality, flavors, and variety stole the show. While their buffet has shifted to a fully buffet-style format (no more à la carte entrées), it now allows you to try all the items from their à la carte menu. I was thrilled to enjoy both the tenderloin and the cod, which remains my absolute favorite. For dessert, if you've read my reviews, you know I always save room for sweets--Zuma didn't disappoint! They have an entire room dedicated to an array of incredible desserts, and I sampled nearly all of them. Each bite was outrageously delicious! This place is absolutely worth it! read more

You get more than 3 items since some items will automatically come on the house. While I don't think the karaage should've been called karaage (the flavors resembled Korean fried chicken if anything), it was my favorite dish. The truffle butter rice was also very filling and a good amount. For our mains, we got the salmon teriyaki and the baby chicken. While good, nothing I was super impressed with. I do want to note that if you do spice with someone else, they will combine your spice items together. My friend's water also had a bug in it, so be wary of flying bugs. Brunch at Zuma Miami. Yesterday, January 18, I went to celebrate my birthday with my family at the brunch at Zuma restaurant. The food was very good, and the service was fine--nothing remarkable. However, one of the main reasons I would not return to this brunch is the overcrowding. The table we were assigned was extremely close to other tables; we could barely move or even get up to go serve ourselves. There were so many people that at times it felt like being on a low-budget cruise, where there is hardly any space to move. The noise level was very high, and what should have been a relaxed, enjoyable afternoon with good food and drinks ended up being quite the opposite. Overall, it felt like a very overcrowded brunch, and for that reason, I wouldn't return. read more

My husband had come here for work dinners and was blown away so he wanted to have us enjoy it as well when we came here for vacation. We love Japanese food and since my older son will basically try anything that was a plus for us. My younger son, however is mostly a chicken nuggets and hotdogs kid. I know that kind of stuff isn't on the menu but I think that some teriyaki chicken skewers could go a long way for kids. It's more of an adult place but they have those elaborate activity books for kids so it might be good to have a few more kid friendly options. The black cod marinated in saikyo was eyes-roll-back delicious! It's that sauce that does it! The wagyu beef, the seabass, and the sushi were all max-delicious. I loved all the food and the ambiance was great. But something did feel a bit off about our experience. It felt like we spent $400+ on appetizers and we still needed to dig up some food afterwards because our kids were still hungry. Glad we saved half a Cuban sandwich from earlier plus a ton of hotel mini bar snacks. My mojito was good but it had a huge pile of shave ice on top which melted down and watered my drink down quite a bit. Less shave ice, let the flavors shine through. I think when you have a dress code, you have to be ready to impress in ALL areas. Can't leave anything out. I think for a date night with just my husband this would be more like 5 stars, but as a family dinner, it wasn't a perfect set up. Still, if you love sushi and Japanese food and have a sitter for the night, then yeah, definitely do Zuma. The sushi is amazing!
