We were looking for a place to get a late lunch and saw that they had a happy hour on a Saturday which is very hard to find in Miami. SuViche has an outdoor and indoor area with an outdoor bar, it's very nice and chill. Perfect to get together with friends or go on a date. The food was great, we had their lychee & mango pisco sour, the lychee was much better. My partner always gets hot sake and I usually don't like it but I tried it and I actually liked it a lot. The almost perfect roll had good flavor and crunch to it with the flakes and shrimp tempura. The ceviche could have had a bit more flavor but the fish quality was good. The pork belly tacos were super delicious, the pork was flavorful and the wonton shell was super crispy and I loved the rice and cream cheese at the bottom. Whether it's grabbing a quick bite with friends, taking food to go, stopping by for happy hour, or just enjoying a drink, it's always solid. The servers are consistently friendly, and the restaurant has plenty of seating. The outdoor patio is especially cute, with lots of tables, a bar area, and a few tables with swing-style seats that are cute. The food is consistently good and the sushi rolls are all solid. My go tos are the truffle roll and the lomo saltado. They also have a great happy hour every day of the week with plenty of food and drink options. The pisco sours are excellent too. Once upon a time Suviche in Wynwood was a 5 star spot hands down--happy hour was on point-- excellent wine selections and the sushi rolls were tasty and plentiful. (My happy hour favs are the Spicy tuna and the Perfection Roll) However I can't help but notice over the years that the sushi rolls keep shrinking in diameter ever so subtlety and it's a little disappointing. (Like the best way I could describe it is comparing a silver dollar to a nickel.) The service is still 'decent' but now they include an automatic 18% gratuity on your bill which is probably why it's just that (decent). This is a great place to visit between the months of September and February where you can sit outside in comfort and enjoy your food. Their seafood arroz chaufa was a favorite of mine for years however I recently discovered their mushroom chaufa which I prefer. I tried suviche for the first time and I believe Japanese/peruvian fusion for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised. We tried a few things, sadly gobbled most of them before I took pix. I really liked the poke nachos! What a fun twist. The mushroom ceviche was something that I wouldn't even think to get but it was really good. It had that meat like texture and the mushrooms absorbed all the juices. Very yummy!! We had the mahi mahi bites and it could have used a sauce. It was a bit dry. Shrimp ceviche was pretty good. The indoor ambiance is nice but there's something about being outdoors that just always calls to me. I forget I'm in Miami sometimes. The amazing servers outdoors are a few far in between. If something is wrong, they do correct it right away. This time around I had Carlos and he is absolutely AMAZING!! Impromptu lunch in Miami A little backstory: while on vacation, my whole family was dealing with some phone issues and we stopped by our carrier's local store for help. It turned out they were experiencing a total network outage. Since I couldn't get online, I asked one of the staff members if there was any good food nearby. He immediately recommended a Peruvian restaurant just a short walk away. Initially, I was a little hesitant because I don't think I had ever tried Peruvian cuisine before. He started describing some dishes, and we decided to give it a shot. Wifey and my youngest both ordered limeade, my oldest ordered all natural passionfruit juice (which she loved), and I went with a local IPA called Nativo Key from Cervecería La Tropical. Wifey and I decided to order a few things to share: the Bang Bang Shrimp and the Fried Mahi Bites. My oldest ordered the Shiitake Chaufa, a mushroom fried rice dish, and my youngest daughter built her own entrée, choosing a plate of sautéed chicken with a side of French fries.Everybody really enjoyed their food and drinks, and we pretty much shared everything. The Mahi Bites had some red onions on top and a sauce you'd typically see on a hibachi salad, but it worked well with the bites. Partway through the meal, my youngest daughter found a hair in her chicken. The staff was very apologetic, quickly scooped it up, and put in a second order. There was some confusion with the second order, it took a while to actually make it to the table, but they ended up not charging us for it on the bill. I went on a little recon mission to check out the interior and use the restroom, which was fresh and clean. The interior dining area was small and a little dark but had adequate seating. In the end, we left full and happy. Despite some confusion and slower service, the food and experience made up for it. I recently participated in a Yelp Elite event to dine at the wonderful Suviche restaurant in Wynwood and it was an unforgettable experience! The ambience was vibrant and inviting, with a perfect blend of modern and traditional decor that created a cozy atmosphere. I started with the shrimp ceviche which was incredibly fresh and bursting with flavor, followed by the fried Mahi bites which were absolutely delicious. The tuna, avocado, sweet chilli, sesame oil, ponzu, wonton chips were delicious but a little on the spicy side which was my least favorite because I don't like spicy. But if you do, try them out. There were a few options on drinks and I chose to try out the cocktail options. I enjoyed their signature pisco sour, which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. Second choice was the Chilcano which consists of pisco, fresh lime juice, ginger ale, whiskey bitters. The only thing I did not like of the drinks is that staff took a long time to bring the drinks to our table. The drinks lacked of an inviting presentation using plain glass cups and they were not cold with ice. I asked for a cup of ice to add to my drink and it was brought immediately. Must mention that all the waitresses and manager were very courteous and attentive to offer the best service possible considering that it was a special event. Overall, this Suviche restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking great Peruvian Japanese fusion food, drinks, and a lovely atmosphere. I went to SuViche last night for happy hour with a friend and I'll start by saying happy hour was great. They have really good drink options for around $3.50 to $5 and tasty food choices between $8 to $15 that are perfect for sharing. The patio had a fun vibe, good music, and our server, although a little slow (probably because he was covering a lot of tables), was friendly and attentive. I decided to order a dinner entrée to go, the Saltado, so I'd have something for later. When I got home, I realized they gave me the pasta version instead of the one with rice and fries. My fault for not checking the bag before I left, but I figured I'd still eat it. The flavor was okay, just not my preference. I personally like Saltado with rice and fries, but it wasn't terrible. What really disappointed me was the portion size. For $22, there were literally three small pieces of steak and barely any pasta. The amount of food, especially the lack of protein, just doesn't match the price point. I go to this SuViche restaurant from time to time because it's not far from my home. If you live around Midtown Miami, the location is very convenient and even walkable. There are a few parking spots available near the restaurant if you drive. What I love about this place is its large size and two seating areas - a spacious indoor section and a big outdoor patio with many tables and even a bar. The restaurant's design is very cool, and I especially love how the patio is set up, so I usually grab a table outside. Every time I've been here, the entire place was very clean; all the furniture and tableware are in excellent condition. I always enjoy the overall restaurant atmosphere - it's very relaxing and enjoyable to sit outside. Even though the outdoor bar has a few TVs, during the day they aren't loud and don't bother. At lunchtime (when I usually visit) the place isn't very busy, but whenever I pass by in the evening, the restaurant is packed and very loud, with TVs on high volume. The worst part of this restaurant is definitely the staff - unfriendly and with a constant "I don't care" attitude. My waiters always took too long to come take my order, and they never once came back to check on me. A couple of times it even took about 15 minutes just to bring me a menu, and the restaurant wasn't busy on those days. And a few times, when I was ready to pay, there were no waiters around, so I had to wait. Once, after waiting a while, I even left my table and went to the bar to ask the bartender to bring me the bill. That's really disappointing and takes away from the experience! The restaurant's concept focuses mainly on Peruvian ceviches and Japanese sushi rolls. The menu also has plenty of starters, poke bowls, and classic Peruvian mains. I have to say - all the fish here is always extremely fresh and flavorful! For me the highlights are definitely the ceviches and sushi rolls. I love that almost all of them come in half or full sizes. My favorite way to order is a half ceviche and a half sushi roll (4 pieces) - this combo works perfectly and fills me up without overdoing it. The Mexicano Mahi Mahi ceviche (I always ordered it without avocado) used to be my absolute favorite - light, fresh, and super flavorful. Sadly, they removed it from the menu, but I really hope they'll bring it back one day. The Original Mahi Mahi ceviche is also delicious. As for the sushi rolls, I've tried almost all of them, and my top picks are the Miami, Truffle, and TNT - all amazing! Prices at the restaurant are a bit on the higher side but still mostly reasonable. A smart trick is to order a half ceviche and a half sushi roll - about $20 total and the perfect portion to fill up while enjoying two dishes. Otherwise, a full ceviche or a full sushi roll will each cost around $18. The restaurant accepts all cards and Apple Pay, but I hate that an 18% tip is automatically added to the bill, especially considering the waiters are so unfriendly and inattentive. This practice feels wrong and scammy in Miami in general. I wanted a light lunch and I when I stumbled on this I knew my search was over. It could not have been more perfect. I had a drink and a ceviche. It's a beautiful place, with brightly colored wall murals, ceramic tiles on the bar front, and half the table seats were actually swings with padded seats and elaborate rope work. I tried the swings. Nice for relaxing with a drink maybe; not so great for eating though. The elaborate graffiti style artwork all over the Wynwood district, visible from the outside porch seating area, contributed to the colorful ambience. This being a Peruvian restaurant (they describe it as "Peruvian With an Asian Kick") I knew I had to have a Pisco Sour. Good choice: obviously fresh squeezed lime juice, just enough sweetness, adequate liquor, a good head from the egg whites, and, unusually, something called Creole Bitters, which I'd never encountered before. This was served with a complimentary bowl of "crispy concha corn," which I think was deep fried corn kernels, salted and spiced. The seviche was excellent, comprised of 4 (!) seafoods: shrimp, mahi-mahi, octopus, and calamari. As well as sweet potato, slivered onions, more concha corn, and choclo which was new to me and resembles hominy. Served with fried plantain on the side: thicker and not quite as crunchy as plantain chips from a bag. The seafood was all very fresh and the four kinds with the different shapes and flavors made it really stand out above other seviches I've had. They were all good but the shrimp really stood out for its sweet flavor and the calamari with no disagreeable rubbery texture that's common. The way they do seviche here is it comes with a base sauce called "leche de tigre" to which you can choose to add one more sauce if you wish. There were 5 to choose from and I was indecisive so the waiter brought small samples of each! I decided on the Aji Amarillo, fruity and spicy. When you order it with an optional sauce the ingredients are served on top of that sauce, with the base leche de tigre served in a separate bowl for dipping. This was a good way to do it so you could vary the flavor, using more of one or the other sauce as you wished. I was impressed with the portion size for what I thought a very reasonable price ($19) considering the cost of seafood these days. Being a Peruvian/Asian fusion restaurant they also have sushi rolls and wok stir-fries too. All the items are listed on a delightfully colorful menu (see photo). Another great visit to Suviche last night! You can never go wrong with the Aji de Gallina and the Lomo Saltado. Normally I overindulge (unfortunately) in pisco heaven, but tonight was a sober night. Our server was attentive and I love the rewards program that this place part in. I've been a couple of times in the last few months and already have $25 worth of points to cash in on my next visit.
