We just stopped in for a quick lunch. They have a nice menu with a lot of options mostly of things I really like! We had the Salmon Special and the edamame. Both were very good. The salmon was very fresh. The service was excellent and we got our food quick even though it was a busy day.
I cannot believe I had one of the best sushi in a food hall at the Miami Design District. The fish melts in your mouth and it combined so well with the sauces. I usually always order spicy mayo on the side, but it was not needed for this roll. We liked it so much that we had to buy it again. Not because we were hungry but it was just that delicious. I also tried the Wagyu hand roll and it was fantastic as well. I also loved the service and cleanliness from the place. I will definitely return to here to have this special roll again.
Food came out really quick, and the serving felt high quality even though it's a food mall. The server was well dressed and my food looked amazing. I didn't know what to expect, it's salmon with avocado topped with torched salmon, spicy mayo, eel sauce and truffle oil. The salmon was so soft and the torched salmon on top is a great touch, it genuinely melts in my mouth and the crunchy rice crackers on top is an amazing touch. I have no idea how they made it that way but the sauce and oil blends great too, it's one of the few rolls I don't have to drown in soy sauce and can actually enjoy the taste. The actual area has a very nice vibe to it, the ambiance is great there's music playing at the bar area and there's circular overhead lights that gives a nice feel even though it's in a mall.
Pros: 1) Japanese chef; 2) very friendly and nice stuff Japanese woman and big guy :) 3) real wasabi root; 4) ginger that they cut on front of you; 5) very good menu , changed every week. 6) great music Cons: 1) parking, hard to find
Recently going to an eating event I found Yasu Tanaka and I knew I had to get a bite. I am always on the lookout for the best sushi in Miami and this place has not let me down.... Those that know sushi know that the rice is where the magic happens but this place goes above and beyond with not only amazing rice but the quality of the fish you get is on par with what I've experienced in Japan... this is one of those places that cares about the quality of the food they put out and your taste buds will sense that love. Can't wait to visit their brick and mortar to see what other high quality items they make that can make my tummy smile.
I first tried the Wagyu and Uni and omg it was my top 3 for best i've ever had. i then decided to do the Omakase special and just WOW. I have no complaints. my three favorite nigiri's were the salmon, wagyu, and toro. It's pricey but i would definitely come back. I tried other places around and Yasu Tanaka tops them all. The service was also amazing. All around 100/10 experience.
Probably my new favorite sushi spot in Miami. I have tried all the high end spots (Osaka, Zuma, Paperfish, Katsuya, the Den, Hiden, etc) and the quality of the fish here rivals the best dishes from these. We ordered the omakase platter and thoroughly enjoyed each bite. Also tried the salmon and tuna platters which were both wonderful as well. The only thing that didn't do much for us were the cut rolls. For the price point, the nigiri is well worth it. Hope to check out their new location in Brickell soon!
I happened to be in MIA market checking out the dining options and came across Sushi Yasu Tanaka. What really drew my attention to this spot was the omakase menu: for the price of $60 you receive 10 nigiri pieces and a handroll. Honestly you can't get any more bang for your buck than this! I was so blown away by the nigiri pieces, every bite was so flavorful and FRESH! The tuna pieces especially were so fatty, they just melt in your mouth. The rice is has light touches of vinegar and it's not overpowering. What was also notable to me was the scallop nigiri - while I'm not the biggest scallop fan, the scallop was so fatty and a burst of spice came forth with the first bite. The piece was so unique I had to include it in my review. The service was quick and they serve you the handroll after you've finished with the nigiri. Honestly you are paying for the quality of food without having to pay for the expense of sitting inside a fancy restaurant - which I don't mind one bit. I sat down inside MIA market with my friend and had a wonderful time working through our meal. MIA market is kept very clean and has lots of windows for plenty of natural sunlight. I definitely want to visit again and can say with confidence this is a true gem in disguise.
Only tried their ice cream but super yummy. Will Come back for their sushi soon. Cute place in the heart of the design district.
Sushi Yasu Tanaka is located within the MIA market in the Design District. The MIA market should do a better job at cleaning and keeping a better ambiance in general, while this place looked much better a few years ago, it's just another food hall or a mall food court today, it's not in par with the designer stores just a few steps away from it. Once you enter, it smells to fabuloso cleaner, no kidding. This is not Sushi Yasu Tanaka's fault, it's all on MIA market. As for the sushi, I loved the quality, freshness and flavors of this nigiri selection as well as the presentation. However, this is not a truly omakase, it's just a sample plate. There is a different between omakase and a random selection of a la carte nigiris. Price was alright, not the cheapest, nor the most expensive either. I would say it was ok. All in all, I will return but will order a la carte next time.
Don't get me wrong the sushi here is delicious but it is very pricey for MIA market. I came by for a quick lunch, just 2 hand rolls and my bill was around $28 I think. Wasn't expecting it to be that much but I had been wanting to try it. There's so many sushi options available not sure if I'd come back here specifically. Quality is great though!
If you find yourself at Sushi Yasu Tanaka inside Mia Market, do yourself a favor and try the ube dessert. It might be my new favorite. Layers of sweet purple yam (ube) sit over a scoop of vanilla ice cream, finished with a touch of edible gold leaf--simple but unforgettable. Altogether with tax, it came to just under $13, which felt worth every penny. I can't speak to the rest of the menu, but the service was quick and friendly. The seating area is clean and spay.
I stumbled upon MIA market trying to find a drink with bae. I noticed the restaurants in the market, I began looking them up just to check out reviews and to see if they were any good. I looked up Yasu Tanaka and was floored by the amount of 5 star reviews. I told bae, "we have to go there to try at least one thing," earlier we came from Tap 42. :/ ehhh...don't recommend. But we were full. Anyway, I talked to the guy at the front and told him congrats on the amazing reviews and how good the food must be. He thanked us, and persuaded us to at least try a hand roll. We did!! We waited. And they ended up bringing us an extra one! How nice! The Hamachi Hand rolls were amazing!! Super fresh, simple, and perfect. Fresh ginger and a perfect finish to our day! Thank you Yasu! I can't wait to come back to try the Omakase. Another 5 star review for your thoughtfulness and quality food!
You want great quality sushi on a budget? This is $45 omakase with 10 nigiris and 1 handroll. The handroll also was to die for. Overall the quality is comparable to fancier restaurants like omakai. Everything was fresh and tasty, each bite was unique! You dont get hit by the 10% service fee most of these places have and you can pay with inkind app. Which means you literally can use discounts and rewards and cash up to 20% from what you spend (for a $25 off of 50 you can use my referral https://app.inkind.com/refer/MXKENCR2) The downside is that it is in the court room of the market of design district so you dont get that "omakase dining experience" also becauee everything is served all together and there is no wait time, you dont get full fast I would definitely come back one of my favorites without breaking the bank read more

I can't say enough nice things about this place. I am a huge fan of Pari Pari which is the sister location so I had to check this one out. The fish is so fresh, the tables are open and inviting. My favorite things to get are hamachi jalapeño and the yellowtail handroll. Service is super top notch and it is located in a market in the design district so it is a full hall of people. I highly recommend! read more

The quality for the price is truly unbeatable. The service is fast, and the prices are more than fair at $60 for the 10 piece omakase and a handroll. Forget Omakai and all the others and come here. The restaurant is just a stall in a food hall (MIA Market), so it's easy to roll up with a group of any size--even by yourself!--or try other things if someone in your group doesn't want to commit to sushi. It's true that some of the ambiance that come with a traditional, intimate sushi restaurant is lost. You come here for a no-frills, food-forward meal, not sushi Disneyland. If sushi Disneyland is what you're looking for, Miami has plenty of other outstanding options like Shingo and Hiyakawa. read more
Delicious and fresh sushi in a chill food court setting. Don't be deceived by the vibes because it was quite good! You can order at the counter or on your phone and phone comes out to the tables. Would recommend getting one of their sets! read more

Ambiance is in an upscale food-court themed setting. Still a food court, but the location provides the upscale element. You're paying for quality here, and quality is what we received. Lots of rich flavor profiles, the seafood tastes truly fresh, and the chefs certainly appear to showcase their pride in their work. 5*! Will return (for the third time) read more
This restaurant located in Mia Market Food Hall. The food hall is in the second floor. Plenty of seatings. The ambiance was great and it's great for group of friends or family eating. The food was phenomenal. Fish was very fresh and the service was quick. I especially like the handroll. read more
THE sushi spot in the Design District. Sushi Yasu Tanaka is located within the MIA Market, tucked away in the corner but is such a gem. When you enter the MIA Market, there are so many things to choose from but, if you're a sushi fanatic, definitely plan to grab a bite here! They offer platters, specials, and even omakase. I love the omakase because it's such a different format from normal omakase. It's more of a causal experience but still so special. The fish tastes so fresh and of high quality, you'll question if you're even in a food hall concept but I would expect nothing less from the Design District. I've done both the omakase and the salmon special and both are so great. Definitely recommend this spot! read more

WOW! This place has been on my list forever, and I'm so glad I finally got around to coming here. Its casual in an upscale food hall, food comes out in 10 minutes max. It's not cheap, but it is cheap for omakase style sushi at this quality. The fish was so fresh, delicious, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and quality lunch. read more

Food here was excellent. I got the omakase, salmon sushi, and ube soybean ice cream. The hand roll and omakase selection were fresh and fantastic with each fish having its unique texture and flavor highlighted. The salmon was excellent. Nice fatty and smooth cuts of salmon with a couple being charred to add some more layers of flavor. Ice cream was amazing. The complimentary flavors of ube and soybean was a great mix of umami, salty, and sweet. Atmosphere is an inconspicuous food hall which the main staff for this restaurant being the sushi chefs. read more

Fish were cut so thin there were holes. Could barely taste much of the fish because the ratio was off. We spent $150 for 2 people sitting in a food court... not worth it. Very disappointed. read more
How amazing it is to find a delicious option inside a food hall. This sushi counter spot inside Miami's Mia Market delivers high-quality food in an informal space, with outstanding service. They have a small menu, full of fresh and quality fish, some appetizers, and Omakase (10 pieces and one hand roll). They follow the idea of keeping it simple but delicious, the staff is very nice and always helping and explaining each piece of menu items. One of my favorite bites is the Uni & Ikura hand roll, the way that the fresh Uni melts with popping Ikura makes this hand roll a piece of heaven. If you are a sushi lover this will be your favorite spot in Miami. read more

I am a regular here and this is my most visited sushi spot in Miami. The food and experience is consistent, always quick and fresh. I mean $59 for 10 piece omakase and handroll? You can't beat this. Perfect casual spot for lunch or grabbing sushi between shopping. read more
One of the best values I've seen for sushi in a while! Yes, the location is a little weird. However, if this is the trade off between a $59 10 piece omakase + hand roll vs this being a $140 meal, I would eat this in a parking lot. The quality is definitely top notch, and the chef here takes what he does seriously. It's a little hard to find - you have to walk up the escalator towards MIA Market, and it's in the back of MIA market. You pay at the counter, you get a number, and then you sit down nearby. There are two nicer booths that were empty when we got there, but there are also regular tables and high tops. They bring out the 10 pieces at once, so pace yourself lol. I thought this was an amazing value considering I got a tuna trio in there, a scallop nigiri, etc. hand roll was toro also! I would definitely return when I'm craving sushi and not trying to come out of my meal broke. read more

I popped by the design district's food hall after running an errand in the area. Located in the far back left is sushi yasu tanaka. I haven't had good sushi in a while and after hearing some good buzz about this spot, I decided to give it a shot. At first approaching the counter one of the chefs right away greeted me and asked me how they could help. After looking at the menu I selected the five piece course. Wow. The sushi is incredible. Really high quality. No real need to add additional soy sauce. The fish melts in your mouth. The rice is well prepared. I will definitely go back and look forward to trying one of their larger options. Keep up the great work! read more

Beautiful fresh fish served quickly and simply. The chef and owner should take pride in his approach and creations. We love the omakase and the hand rolls. Our family makes it a point to visit nearly every time we come down to the Design District. Fresh, fun and fast. A gem. Highly recommend it. read more

WHAT IS THIS PLACE? I've probably walked by it 50 times and always thought, "Ugh, food court sushi." Then I took a minute to watch what some diners were eating and I was intrigued. I finally ordered the omakase and was shocked at the flavor and the quality. It's something I'd expect for twice the price at a much fancier venue. The menus is simple - just a few options. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Quality and flavor is off the charts. Is it wrong to go back for lunch two days in a row??? read more
