Osaka Brickell: Extraordinary My wife and I visited Osaka in Brickell, Miami, this evening--and I was so impressed that I rushed home to write this review. The Verdict In one word: extraordinary. We loved it. Restaurants often use the word "fusion" loosely, but at Osaka, it truly applies. The menu delivers Peruvian and Japanese fusion at its best: a thoughtful blend of South American and Japanese flavors, with each bite offering a beautifully engineered explosion of taste. Food The food is creative, beautifully presented, and genuinely unique--but Osaka offers much more than great dishes. Our server, Yesenia, guided us with recommendations that balanced our preferences with the restaurant's signature flavors, including a remarkably fresh sashimi amuse-bouche, Kiiro ceviche, a Hongos Teppan trumpet mushroom dish that was not listed on the menu, and a Nikkei Makimono that brought Peruvian flavors into a traditional sushi roll. The restaurant manager, Miki, also checked in during our meal. The service was casual, attentive, and perfect. Ambiance is paid to every detail. We ate at the sushi bar, but the main dining area was spectacular, and the bar area was sublime. Lastly, the music was a combination (fusion) of new age, Peruvian jungle music and Japanese sounds all blended into a crescendo on the experience. Try it....you'll love it. This was an amazing experience! The food and service were incredible! I was surprised to see it so busy but after trying the food I can see why! If you love Peruvian and Japanese food this is the lance for you. The fusion of both this delicious cuisines was to die for. This has been the best restaurant i've eaten at all year! Osaka provided the upscale dinner I was looking for on a Saturday evening. The restaurant is decorated with a modern and upscale style. The food was amazing. We started with two sushi rolls that exploded with flavor in your mouth. The Nikkei was definitely my favorite. The octopus is a must so tender and soft. The Niki tartare had incredible taste. Wow - what a classy and high-end sushi spot! From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by the elegant interior design and the warm, welcoming staff. The atmosphere inside is vibrant and fun, so I definitely recommend sitting indoors for the full experience. Yes, it's on the pricier side--but if you order smart, it's totally worth it. I tried a matcha tequila cocktail that came served in a teapot (such a fun touch!) and it was absolutely delicious. The sushi roll I had was amazing, and every appetizer we ordered was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. The Service was absolutely amazing. Everyone was very attentive and very detailed. The ambiance is stunning. I expected a darker venue but it's all light and earthy. Truly a beautiful place. The food was very good. My favorite dish was the crispy rice tuna (the tuna melted in my mouth and those crispy rice crackers were take home good) and not pictured here the short rib with the most amazing rice. The toro was okay, but I could have done without it and the duck gyozas were good. Our server referred to my mocktail and a coconut daiquiri and I don't know what I would have explained it that way because it was a more watered down version (wasn't bad just not a daiquiri). My husband had a few of their cocktails and loved them. They have this pisco sour with chicha morada that was really delicious. I honestly would give this place a 4.5. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in Miami! From the gorgeous ambience to the innovative Nikkei menu, the creativity and attention to detail were so apparent and led to an incredible experience. I'm genuinely heartbroken that they discontinued the Crispy Quinoa Roll. It was hands down my favorite item on the menu and honestly the main reason I would order from Osaka. Everything else was a bonus. I've tried many rolls over the years and nothing quite compared to that one. I'm still giving 5 stars because the restaurant is excellent but if anyone from Osaka is reading this, please consider bringing the Crispy Quinoa Roll back. The Brickell location has the same swanky and sexy vibes with amazing food. We ordered our way through the menu and it was divine. Our order included: +Ceviche Sample - we got all three ceviches on the menu minus the classico because it seemed the least interesting. The osk - which includes Tuna, crispy quinoa, kyuri, yuzu ponzu sauce. +Katsu Nigiri: Salmon belly, lemon zest, white truffle oil. This was 1000 out of 10. +NIKKEI Maki: Avocado, shrimp furai, white fish, acevichada sauce, Osk furikake. It's the acevichada sauce that really makes it. +NIKKEI SALAD +INCA GYOZA +UMI MESHI - a delicious seafood rice skillet +PATO MOCHERO - a duck rice skillet +MARISCOS AL FUEGO - Sautéed seafood, togarashi-butter, ginger, lime. +Crispy Rice +Kani Taco - Snow crab, truffled aji amarillo emulsion, tobiko, crispy nori. Everything was fabulous and definitely the perfect amount of food for a party of five.I think the key to dining at Osaka is going with an adventurous eater who is hungry. While a lot of the items come with two per order, they were super easy to accommodate each dish to have five pieces when applicable. Ordering an item from each menu section is a great way to taste your way through the entire menu. We had a spectacular dinner with Pan as our server, we had a guessing game on our table as to where we thought she was from, ask her, you may be surprised. What a great way to kick off 2026. My sister got a table at the last minute as their reservations are always booked and they were busy on that Friday night. She also knows how to order as we got some favorite repeats from tiraditos to Osaka style nigiris to makimono. For tiraditos, hands down favorite is the akami truffle tiradito which is Bluefin tuna, Peruvian chilli sauce, Kyuri chalaquita, sepia cracker, this is memorable as the fish is so fresh and that cracker, get it you won't regret it. The other favorite was nori furai makimono, salmon, avocado, crispy nori, tare criollo. We also ordered some favorite Osaka nigiris: Inca, Hamachi brasa, Katsu and Hotate Truffle. My favorite was Katsu which is salmon belly with truffle oil. Tip, ask them to torch it as it elevates the taste w/ the smoky flavor. Inca was cured tuna, aji amarillo, chalaquita, black quinoa. Hamachi Brasa was peruvian chilli rayu, roasted almonds, scallion, lime. We also ordered Peru tiradito which is Hamachi, uchucuta, pickled onion, sweet potato, leche de tigre. We also ordered the Nikkei salad which was delicious, crispy bits adds a crunchy explosion of flavor. My sister paired it with Chikurin Karoyaka sake which she said was very good also. My family and I were absolutely delighted at Osaka. We showed up very early to our reservation and asked to change our seating arrangement. I was surprised with how accommodating the staff was despite how busy the restaurant was. The experience was worthy of a family memory; Segundo (our server) described the menu with such detail and ownership, he made the extensive menu easy to follow. The food was great!!! We live in Central Florida and now will have a place to visit when we come back. The ambience was relaxed yet elegant. The music subtle and slowed for conversation. The only reason I removed a star is because I made a resy for 9pm and even with the reservation and arriving a few minutes before, they made us wait and just sat us at 9:20pm. I don't like when restaurants do that, it's very annoying. Good thing the whole experience made up for this afterwards. As soon as we sat down the chef sent us a salmon sashimi as courtesy that was very fresh and tasty. Nice touch! The ambiance is amazing, they have a fun and lively playlist going on and I loved the modern decor. Our waiter was really nice, attentive and took great care of us all night. We ordered drinks, the Crispy Tuna, Tako Anticucho (octopus) and 2 makimonos: Nori Furai and Nikkei - the last one was my favorite, but everything is DELICIOUS and fresh. This is my FAVORITE sushi spot. This is just an update to my last review. NIGIRI I LOVE: *katsu *hotate truffle *hirame brasa (This is not listed on the menu. They have hamachi brasa on the menu but this is better! Kudos to Juan for letting me in on this treasure). *I will mention that some people, like my cousin, absolutely love the Tuna Foie nigiri but it's just not my thing. CARPASSION: Make sure you try the Carpassion Tiradito. Who knew that a passion fruit honey would go so well with salmon? The crispy strips give it a great texture and flavor too. MARISCOS AL FUEGO: The mariscos al fuego is very good. I like to order a side of rocoto sauce so I can add a little bit to it. Be careful though, the rocoto sauce here is extremely spicy. AVOCADO BRASA: If you go during their Sunday brunch, I really enjoy their Avocado Brasa but I order a side of rocoto sauce to make it spicy. DESSERT: I love chocolate so the Cacao matcha is what I gravitate to here when I want dessert. SERVICE: The service here is always top notch. VALET: Although this isn't directly about Osaka, the valet service they contract is really rude and unpleasant. I've was treated very poorly by them on one particular occasion. Osaka is without a doubt my favorite restaurant in Miami. Every time I go, it's consistently amazing -- from the vibe to the food to the service. The space feels upscale yet welcoming, and you can tell from the first bite that this place is operating on another level. The food is just next-level good. The 1 star given is primarily for overall lack of value/high high markup on everything! We are from San Francisco so we are used to high markup but this place goes above and beyond San Francisco pricing. I'll attach copy of our bill to this review to give an idea. Pros: 1) sashimi - very fresh and yummy. No complaints. 2) Cocktails - also yummy and creative. 3) service - waiter and sommelier were very helpful and knowledgeable about everything on the food/wine menus and made helpful recommendations. Cons: 1) pricing vs quantity - for example, we got the 18 piece chefs choice sashimi platter. Priced at $215 + 20% automatic gratuity, + 8% tax = approx $15 per piece of sashimi. Really? Another example, we ordered one of the cheaper bottles of wine at $170 for a bottle of Bordeaux that normally costs about $69 at the store. With tax and tip that's about $217 for 1 bottle of wine. Stick with the cocktails for better value at about $23 apiece or just wine by the glass. 2) menu layout - the menu was not intuitively organized. We are pretty seasoned San Francisco/global diners and we basically needed the waiter to help us navigate/explain it and then help us order from it. This should be a simple issue for them to fix. Label each section like the waiter explained it to us - 1 page was sushi roll section, one was nigiri section, one was "raw" or sashimi section, one was more Peruvian /hot section, one was vegetable section, and how about writing "Vegetarian" at the top of the vegetarian menu? 3) noise level - I'm not sure what can be done about this... maybe some acoustic panels to absorb the noise? It was very loud, and there were some annoying 5 and 7 year olds sitting in the lounge area next to our table that were running and yelling the whole time we were there. Then they proceeded to bounce on the couch cushions /bench we were seated on. Maybe the waiter could have said something to the parents? Anyway, we won't be back. We paid $600 including wine and cocktails for just 2 people. I feel like we got about $300 worth of experience overall. If it had been a quieter venue and just slightly lower prices for everything my review would've been easily 4-5 stars. read more

Brunch menu is very limited and small so it wasn't what we expected but I try to make the best out of every situation so my friends and I just decided to order different items from the regular menu to enjoy it family style and get to taste a few things. So let's break down what we had... Cocktails: Pisuko Trip or pisco sour was refreshing, spicy and delicious but the one I liked the most was the Mr Osaka with a rosemary smoke for a beautifully crafted drink and nice presentation for the win. Pisco Ribs: baby back ribs with a citrus pico glaze like no other I've tasted and tender meat that just comes right off of the bone. This was one of the faves for sure. Tako Anticucho: chargrilled octopus skewer sitting on hot pebbles with a chimichurri nippon. Perfectly cooked and not chewy or rubbery with a citrusy kick from the lime. Definitely one of the best octopus dishes in town. Pato Mochero: also known as the "duck" fried rice, this was one of the most delectable duck dishes I've ever tasted in Miami. Crispy skin on the duck leg with lulo passion honey for sweet and savory combo, smoked pork and the sauce dripping onto that perfectly cooked wok white rice, "wow" is an understatement. We had no room for dessert and had planned to hit up a few other joints but this was just a perfect brunch . Service is excellent and staff was personable and attentive as you would expect from a fine establishment such as this one here. I'll start with a WOW! Our first time visiting Osaka, we made a reservation for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We valet on the building where Osaka is, it's not their valet but the valet there will let you park for $40 cash so if you are lucky to find a spot on the street or a couple of blocks away, I think better do that. We made it there on time and were sitting right away. We were offered water right away and our server, Segundo, introduced himself. Something that caught my attention is that they have a separate vegetarian menu which is amazing! So I started with a refreshing Albariño and my boyfriend got a Pisco Sour, they have plenty of Pisco options to pick from. Pisco Sour was delicious! It's so hard to find a Peruvian restaurant where they make the pisco sour right. Many in Miami are not right but just as a standard of what you can get here, but the one here at Osaka is how it should be. We ordered some appetizers including Nikkei Roll (delicious! With white fish, shrimp, and a perfect acevichada roll), Inca Gyoza (not a duck person but wow! Dumplings dough was perfect, filling delicious and the aji amarillo sauce was not spicy but creamy), Chirasi Causa (perfect causa base, with a delicious crab salad, shrimp, tuna and again that amazing acevichada sauce). As a main course, I had the Seabass with a miso coconut sauce and white rice. The fish was perfectly cooked and the sauce was creamy and had an acidic touch to balance the entire dish. My boyfriend got the Asado Gyudon and a short rib that was cooked for so many hours he didn't need a knife to cut it. The meat sits on a pachamanquero rice with a huacatay base, which is a Peruvian herb and that's why the rice is green but it has this distinct flavor that balances perfectly with the meat. We only ate one-third of our entrees because we were so full from all the appetizers we ate so portions are pretty fair. As a dessert, we had the Suspiro Nikkei. It's not your typical suspiro a la limeña but inspired by it and modernized for a Nikkei restaurant. We weren't sure about it but when we got it and mixed each flavor, it was an explosion of flavors! Instead of the regular manjar, you had a lemongrass one with a piece of merengue and a soursop ice cream, all of this sat on an incredible chocolate soil. Our whole experience was amazing and our server was the best! He was funny, amazing with recommendations, super proper and on top of our table and the ones around us!
