Omg. We went out to a bar and I got a little hungry so we saw that this place was open late. We walked in at 10:30. I felt a little bad because they close at 11, but there were no issues. Everyone was super nice and they sat us immediately. I decided to try the Omaki experience. Every single roll was beyond delicious. The chef is an expert at his craft. I can't even begin to tell you the rolls I had, but by the end I was beyond full and extremely pleased with everything I put in my mouth. A hard fish bone was in my yellowtail hand roll, and when I brought it up to the staff, I wasn't given an apology nor acknowledged in ANY way. They brought it to the kitchen and continued on with their day. It is unacceptable from a sushi restaurant, as the fish should be properly cleaned and handled. If someone choked on it or bit down hard on it, that would be an even bigger problem. The service from the host (or lack thereof) was also extremely disappointing, as he was on his phone the entire time and didn't bother welcoming us in. I messaged OMAKAI on Instagram to address this issue, and nobody bothered to reply. The only handroll that was a standout was the salmon shiso; otherwise go to Sugarfish or Kazunori instead for much better/professional service and food quality. read more

Hands down one of my favorite sushi spots in Miami. We went to Omakai during Art Basel (which says a lot on its own), and it still absolutely delivered. We did the deluxe omakase, and every single bite was thoughtful, fresh, and beautifully executed. The fish quality is unreal, the pacing was perfect, and the overall experience felt elevated without being stuffy. It was my husband's first time, and he was genuinely impressed -- which is saying something. From the flavors to the service to the vibe, it lived up to the hype and then some. It came with the following: Bronzino Mentaiko Salmon sashimi Indonesian blue crab Chilean sea bass marinated in sake Fatty tuna Scallops with something Unagi (eel), which my friend doesn't eat so she ordered a baked crab roll for $12 and I ate her eel roll. Why can't they substitute? It makes no sense. Why do they even ask if you're allergic if they can't change it??!! This was our second time here. The seaweed was crispier last time. My friend thought so too! She really liked the sea bass. It had a little kick to it. They need a sign on the building because we walked past the restaurant and were walking in circles looking at the Maps app. My friend kept saying that she remembered the Carrot Express from last time. They need more than the sidewalk sign. Tip was included in the bill so you don't need to add more unless you want to. read more

The quality of the sushi was top-notch--everything tasted incredibly fresh and was beautifully packaged. The box came with a video to guide you through the tasting, which was a nice touch, even though it didn't match up perfectly with what was in the box. Still, it didn't take away from the experience. Showed up without a reservation and it was fine - no wait and plenty of seating. I ordered the Oma, as I wanted to try their different menu items. When I wanted to order more, the staff was busy chatting it up with someone (influencer? Friend?). I have no idea who that person was but all staff was there talking to them and no one at the bar attending. I waited about 10-15 mins and no one picked up my paper with the additional items I wanted to try so I just crossed them out and had to call one of the staff members so I could get charged. We ordered the OMAKAI experience $34 per person and it came with a starter of salmon sashimi, and I believe 6 hand rolls -- the portion is extremely filled and in my opinion such a steal! Nothing better than good quality hand rolls made right in front of you to enjoy. We ordered two Sauvignon blancs to welcome the weekend and they pairs perfectly with all the fish we were having. A few of my favorite hand rolls that were selected by the chef were the bay scallop, the negi toro and the white fish -- but honestly everything is delicious. Mediocre food and service just not worth the visit. I stopped in for a quick lunch. The fish is a bit bland overall but it is served at a good temperature. The seaweed needs to be more crisp. The rice is dense and gluey - it does not feel like it's meant for sushi. The place has a weird vibe overall. A couple next to me let the server know that one of their hand rolls tasted fishy. They offered a replacement but then did not even remove the potentially rotten roll from his plate. When the bill came he asked if he was charged for that hand roll and the waitress responded "of course you ordered it didn't you". She eventually removed it from the bill but went on to badmouth the couple with another customer even after we said that was disturbing our meal. We got the check early and left. Do yourself a favor and skip this spot - unprofessional and mediocre is a bad combination. read more

Ambiance was okay. Food was Emaculate! Service was not. One lady there was particularly rude to my friends. She rolled her eyes a lot and seemed like she couldn't stand us being there. She also abandoned us frequently, it took a while to get the check. I don't expect amazing service but for spending nearly $200 this was not even the bare minimum in my opinion. If you want some really good sushi maybe try one of their other locations or go here but don't have high expectations on the service. The chefs are nice though. It's a shame but I brought a birthday cake in the hopes that they could cut and distribute it for my wife. This was a special day for us. For whatever reason they said management wouldn't allow it. They couldn't even provide us a knife to do it ourselves. This was very disappointing. If you find yourself in this situation, maybe bring cupcakes or your own supplies if they allow it. Friendly staff and counter only seating. This place is a casual vibe. If you want to use the restroom it's down the hall from the back door and requires a key. They have some preset menus for different number of rolls and also daily specials. I would suggest going with the Omakai omakase set where they decide for you. Walking in vibes are Japandi, basically everything you want when you walk into a more casual hand bar restaurant. The clean open aesthetic almost entices you that you're gonna have a good time, and you definitely do. The chefs are the one serving you, and they do grab your drink order is a little early but are very attentive to you throughout the entire process. The simplicity of a hand role makes the experience almost interactive as you sit at the bar and get presented with your Omakase of hand rolls. It's fun the flavors are fresh, and you get a great variety of roles without having to commit to a traditional omakase. They do get a little creative and fun with some truffle salt, and some lemon, but just elevating the flavors of the fish as you go through your selection. I almost like OMAKAI hand roll bar more than their traditional sit down restaurant and think that you should try it out too. read more
