This is on a busy street (street parking) and the music is quite loud inside (not conducive to having a conversation). The Food: Everything we ordered was actually amazing. We decided to order a few different things to share amongst ourselves since the menu is pretty big. For Appetizers we ordered the Tom Kha with shrimp and it was so delicious, Chicken wings were crispy and the sauce was great, Spring Rolls and Dumplings also great, as far as the food goes I have absolutely no complaints and it's very obvious why this place gets as packed as it does. Pad Thai was great, the portions do leave a little to be desired but with the price point it does make up for it by allowing you to order multiple plates and share it with your group. Standout dishes for me were most definitely the Tom Kha, the Pad Thai and the Beef noodle soup. The Service: It was a little different, something I've never experienced before. It's a one time order so when you sit you MUST order everything all at once, no second chances, which means you gotta know everything you're going to order for the entire night and hope you don't miss out on ordering anything else. The staff was a little on the rude side almost seemed like they were inconvenienced whenever a question was asked but I'll just chalk it up to it being a very busy night so they were kinda running all over the place. We were able to snag some food to go but they do have a limit for ordering to-go so keep that in mind when coming here. The Ambiance: Overall cramped, noisy and crowded which was to be expected with how popular this place is. They do give you beer while you wait which is a nice touch. I've been coming here for years, and there's a reason there's usually a wait.... it's def worth it. I always start with the papaya salad. It's fresh, light, slightly sweet, and really refreshing. honestly the perfect salad starter that doesn't feel heavy. I've also ordered the wings here. They're big and perfectly fried and have a great crunch. They are pretty plain on their own and I do wish they were seasoned a bit more since you add the sauce yourself by dipping. I'm a total chicken fried rice fanatic anytime I order Asian food, and I love it here. It's flavorful but light and doesn't leave you feeling overly full. I also really like the Pad! This is, without a doubt, one of the best authentic Thai places you will ever try. Ever. But anyone who goes for the first time can use some preambled tips to be prepared for how unique of an experience this is. Primarily, this place has some questionable customer service. From the fact that you can only order once (they are extremely strict about this) to how evident it is that they're attempting to rotate their tables as quickly as possible, none of these very clearly unusual characteristics are able to overshadow how unbelievably delicious the food is, and that is saying a lot (also, kep in mind that the seating area is pretty much on what can only be described as a hallway so the tables are very limited and on busy hours you can expect to make a line). Every plate outshines everything else Lung Yai comes with, and like a cinematic toxic relationship, it is even capable of making you fall in love with how unique the experience as a whole can be. I look forward to bringing new people to try this place to see the process of annoyance with the staff turn into pure appreciation as they finish every plate leaving no trace of food behind, usually ending with some sort of statement along the lines of "that was so worth it". Had to unfairly give this a 4 out of 5 because I literally just came back from my annual trip to Thailand and there is just something about those Thai ingredients that just hit different in the motherland. HOWEVER, I will say this is the best local Thai spot I've found here in Miami. There is always a small wait because it really is that good but once you're up for a turn, it's like eating down a Thai street. Nothing too fancy, just a few tables and some of the most popular dishes from Thailand. To keep the crowds moving and to give everyone a chance to eat, you only get one shot to order your food, so come ready because if you forget to order something (except another Singha) or are craving more, you will just have to wait until next time. Service is quick and friendly and they are giving you the Thai feel with all the smiles and a background of Thai music in the TV screen. We decided to have a little of everything this time. From dumplings to papaya salad, fried mushrooms and chicken wings. The appetizers were great. Crab fried rice, Panang curry, pad Thai and my personal favorite, Khao Soi were all incredible for our mains. I will say if you're a fan of true Thai spice, you need to ask them ahead for your spice level or it will come out without any. That would be my only critique but I understand most everyone stateside is used to that heat. I also missed the tray of sauces that usually comes table side with a Pad Thai like the chili, sugar, fish oil, etc. Those would be nice touches to round out the experience. Khao Soi is my all time favorite Northern Thai dish and Thai is the first place to come close to the flavors of actual Thailand. Only critique here is I prefer the authentic chicken on a bone rather than pieces of breast meat scattered throughout. All in all it was a great time. At least they updated their plates as they are not chipped anymore. We had the papaya salad, chicken wings (my least favorite) as lacked flavor unless you cover them in the sweet chili sauce it comes with, veggie hot woonsen (my favorite) but it tasted more like rice noodles and not glass noodles and chicken basil stir fry with minced chicken (very good). First of all, if you are coming with a big group be prepared to wait because there are only one or two big tables. They are on door dash and take pick up orders. Finally I was able to try this place and it's definitely worth all the hype. I was seated right away since there was no line in a Tuesday night. The waitress quickly greeted me and warned me that I only get once chance to input my order. As the night progressed the restaurant got busy. The restaurant isn't fancy and these music videos playing in the background. But the food is amazing and that's why they received a Michelin recognition. The duck salad was a perfect balance of citrus and fried duck. I'm still thinking of it. The steam dumplings were my second favorite starter dish. Hello fellow Yelpers! Time for another review, and I'm beyond excited for this one. First of all, I want to give you a little overview of Lung Yai Thai Tapas. It was mentioned in the Michelin Guide, so you know the food is out of this world. I went with a group of friends, and we had several dishes. For me, I had yum ped, a delicious duck dish with a savory sweet and sour flavor, and khao soi, a sweet, creamy curry egg noodle dish, rich in flavor, where you can choose your level of spiciness. My friends had tom kha with shrimp, another creamy soup that tasted just like my native coconut milk seafood soup from Nicaragua with a Thai twist, and baby back ribs with a tangy, spicy, sweet dipping sauce. They also tried neua nam tok, a beef salad dish which was similar to my yum ped. All are dishes I would recommend and try again. Just note, you only have the moment your server takes your order the first time to order all the food you want, but you can order drinks as much as you like. The service was also amazing. We had our server and busser coming to check on us and refilling our water whenever we were done with a plate or needed a refreshment, which was very pleasant. We even got to share our hobby of opening Pokémon cards with them, and they shared their own fondness for collecting things, so it was a nice connection. And the ambiance? What can I say, it was a pretty small, simple restaurant located right before Starbucks in a regular building--a "fox in the hole" as some people might call it. They had Thai music playing, and it felt very traditional in a sense. Some might not like it, but I loved it, especially being from Little Havana and being born and raised here. I arrived with three other friends (4 of us total) on Friday night with high expectations, and a general understanding of the flow (i.e. small venue, we can only order once, etc). We arrived around 6:45pm. Probably waited about 15 minutes until we were seated. This gave us enough time to glance over the menu and send in our order once we received. We were so hungry, and ordered multiple plates -- 3 crab fried rice, 2 duck plates, 2 beef salad and 2 chicken salad and fried pork to start (sort of like Colombian chicharrón - fantastic). Our table was constantly attended to by the server, and our glasses were never half empty. My first dine-in experience at this Michelin-star Thai restaurant was a great one! I arrived early for lunch and was lucky to find parking right in front of the restaurant--a nice bonus. As a huge Thai food lover, I ordered the shrimp and calamari appetizer and a beef Pad Thai. The appetizer was extra spicy, which I loved--perfect for heat lovers like myself. That said, if you're not into spicy food, I'd suggest ordering something milder. The staff was very attentive, constantly checking in and making sure I had enough water. Their service was top-notch. I also observed the servers patiently guiding a nearby table who weren't sure what to order. The server took time to explain the menu and offer thoughtful recommendations. You don't see that kind of genuine hospitality everywhere--superb customer service all around. The Pad Thai was delicious and had a very authentic flavor. The only thing I felt it lacked was a bit of texture. A few more bean sprouts would've added a nice crunch and balance to the dish. The beef was also barely noticeable. The portion size for the Pad Thai was small compared to other places. Note: they do add a 18% service fee to the bill, which eliminates the need to calculate a tip--some may like this, others may not. One policy I wasn't a fan of was requiring all items to be ordered at once. It felt a little restrictive and not super customer-friendly. The restaurant itself isn't fancy--casual with a Thai street food vibe, which I really enjoyed. There is no AC in the interior. They don't offer traditional takeout service; instead, you're referred to DoorDash for carry-out orders. Also, they seem to have a time limit for dine-in, so keep that in mind if you plan to linger. To be transparent, I've never been to Thailand but have eaten my fair share of Thai curry all around the country and this stuff is right at the tip top of the list so far. Specifically, I got the iconic Khao Soi, w/ pork. I didn't even notice at the time but I wasn't asked what spice level I wanted when I ordered so mild was brought out, I think I would've ordered medium if given the chance again. The curry is so rich and creamy it almost leans sweet but the lime squeeze picked it back up, I think more spice would've balanced everything out. Still wasn't mad at it!! Ate the whole thing, the crispy noodles on top were my fave touch. The steamed shrimp dumplings were plump and bouncy without being chewy, very yummy. I ate alone so my only regret is not coming with more people so I could try more things!! Lung Yai ruined Thai food for me, which feels dramatic but is unfortunately accurate. I went almost every night I was in Miami, sometimes choosing it over very fancy, very Michelin-adjacent places. Zero regret. Thai food anywhere else just doesn't hit the same, and I say that as someone who lived in Thailand for a full year. There's something deeply nostalgic about this food. Warm in a way that's hard to explain... like someone who really knows you cooked it when you weren't feeling great. Emotional without being precious, comforting without being boring, and wildly consistent. We ordered the papaya salad, pork belly, crab, fried rice, beef noodle soup, pad see-ew, and pad thai. Not a weak link. Not even close. My girlfriend ordered the papaya salad spicy, which in hindsight was bold bordering on irresponsible. If you know Thai people, you know spicy means spicy. This was like a 12 out of 10. We were fully in tears, still eating, still committed. Respectfully suffering. There's always a line, and yes, the rules are real. You order once, so make it count. No rounds, no last-minute add-ons. Seating is tight, maybe 10 to 12 tables total, and it's clearly not built for big groups. Thai music is playing loud, neon accents everywhere, and suddenly you're not in Miami anymore. It genuinely brought me back to living in Thailand, which I did not expect from a small room with limited seating. The staff was incredible and somehow still happy to see us every single night, which felt both impressive and appreciated. I even risked being late to my flight home just to eat there one more time, which is either poor planning or a very strong endorsement. Probably both. Patience is key here and I will tell you, it's worth every minute I waited. This restaurant is small, but cozy. You'll be put on a wait list and you better know what you want to eat by the time you sit down, because you can ONLY ORDER ONCE. We had The spring rolls (2 orders because they're that good), Panang Curry, Pork Belly, Crispy Mushrooms, Khao Soi, and Duck Basil. So, we thought we'd have some of everything this time. Dumplings, papaya salad, fried mushrooms and fried chicken wings. The appetizers were great. Our mains were all great too - with the crab fried rice and the panang curry, both of which were absolutely lovely, and the pad thai which I loved and Khao Soi, which was my favourite. If you are a true fan of Thai spices, I would suggest asking them beforehand regarding your spice level or else it will turn out without any. It would be my only complaint, but I know most people in the states are accustomed to that weather. I also didn't get the side of sauces as you would normally get table side with a Pad Thai, e.g. chili, sugar, fish oil etc. Those would be good extras to complete the package. Khao Soi is my favorite Northern Thai dish and Thai is the first country that's close to the taste of Thailand. The only criticism I have here is that I like the real chicken on a bone more than chicken quarters in bits. read more

Seriously?! My fam and I are Thai food connoisseurs and were super excited to visit Lung Yai for lunch and get our grub on. Wanted to sit outside because it was nice and warm out and their indoor-ish patio was dreary. Tables were not full. No wait. Yet, we were forced to sit inside because there were no tables for 2 outside. Strike 1. When we ordered we were told we could only order once. Okaaaayyy...Strike 2. We ordered papaya salad, beef noodle soup, crispy pork belly, and chicken over rice (khao man gai). Best thing was the papaya salad and pork belly but definitely not Michelin worthy. The Thai chicken over rice was oh so sad. Chicken was dry with absolutely no flavor. The rice texture was par-boiled, zero flavor, while the menu promised an enhanced traditional rice as you'd expect from khao man gai. The soup on the side was room temp. Horrible. We asked for an extra bowl for the beef noodle soup and the server said kitchen wouldn't let him bring one out and we had to use the side soup bowl that came with the chicken. lol. The beef noodle soup wasn't anything to praise either. Between the uncomfortable chairs, mosquito bites, laughable service, and overpriced tiny-portioned below average dishes: strikes 3,4,5,6+++. Never again. Khaosan Road in Coral Gables has all of the above-mentioned dishes, excellent taste, ambiance, and service for the same price but larger portions. No brainer, go there instead. read more

In short: it's alright. The service staff were pleasant and attentive, but it's no-frills style dining. The 18% included service charge right out of the gate is warranted and I would gladly pay that, but having it included for a hole-in-the-wall diner is... an interesting choice. The food: I've had better. The fried pork dumplings were OK, the crispy fried mushrooms weren't crispy but were mushy (pun intended), the pork belly was as crispy as I hoped the mushrooms would've been, but definitely over-fried and the chicken wings... the chicken wings need to be returned back to the chickens, these ranked at the bottom of my chicken wings totem pole. With that said - the chicken curry with egg noodles was good. And the coconut milk soup is what made this a 4-star review instead of 3. It's really excellent. If I am to revisit this place, I think I'll just order 3 servings of the coconut milk soup to eat and a side of wings to send them back to the kitchen. read more
