I came here for a business lunch and found that generally the food was quite good. The rolls were fresh and quite filling. Prices were descent but the service was not so great. It took a while to get a server to take our orders and questioned who our server was since we asked two different people for water. The restaurant itself is pretty nice and clean. We went here yesterday at 1:00PM for my friends wedding reception, if it wasn't for the lil blonde girl at the check in, I would given it a five star, she acted like she did not want to be there. Our waitress was very friendly and the chef was very funny. The food was good, I had a teriyaki filet mignon, I asked for med rare and that's exactly what I got with a side of perfectly cooked scallops. My wife loved the banana foster. We went in for sushi, since our favorite place was closed for Easter. We were sat down quickly, we ordered Tuna Sashimi, a Caliente roll and a childs Chicken Teryaki. When got the Sashimi first, my girlfriend and I both looked at the Sashimi and saw that it was cut rather thick and it did not look fresh or the right color, we tried it and it tasted awful, really fishy. We let our server know and she took it away and off the bill without saying a word. We then got our Caliente Roll, that one did not look too good either the sauces were rather tasteless and the roll was not to tasteful, I ended up eating some of it because I was hungry. The Chicken Teryaki was not bad, but the California Roll that came with it was not good at all. Overall I would not recommend this place for sushi. read more

A fun place to go for the Teppan experience. The atmosphere was sleek and upscale. Our chef was funny and did some tricks and flair I haven't seen before. But when it comes down to it, Teppan food is rarely all that good and tends to be overpriced for what actually ends up on your plate. I had a combination consisting of lobster, scallops, and shrimp. The lobster and scallops were fine, but the shrimp was wildly overcooked and rubbery. Someone with me complained their chicken was overcooked and dry as well. But even if the meats were cooked perfectly, Teppan food in general just seems to lack flavor or complexity. But they are fun to go to sometimes and this is one of the better places I've been to in terms of the overall experience. Bonus tip - Get the booze drinks that let you keep the souvenir glasses. This used to be one of my favorite places. I've probably been here 2 dozen times over the last decade. We came with a party of 12. With the prices they charge here, that's easily over a $400 check. The wait staff just couldn't get any of the orders right. Complaints in order of occurrence: 1. Half the table saw 2 plates before getting the correct order. The food was not up to par, perhaps because we weren't at a grill table. 2. I was told they have everything, ordered a scotch and was brought a bourbon. No big deal. 3. Apparently the menus have incorrect prices and descriptions. We were told this after we were brought our food and checks. My meal was $10 more expensive than the menu specified. 4. We played musical bills for 15 minutes before getting everything straight. 5. My wife ordered the salmon katsu and left the restaurant sick. All in all, this was a disappointing experience. I ordered through DoorDash so it's going to be a bit of a process to get refunded for this crap they served me, but what don't sushi chefs understand about not putting brown avocado on sushi rolls? Have eaten here a few times but last night was the best by far. Harry or teppanyaki chef was AWESOME! He cooked the food perfect and put on the best show we've ever experienced there. I love teppan!! We always have so much fun here, the chefs are always funny, the food is super good and you just leave here in a good mood. I've only come to this location when my office throws their Christmas Party here. They always have yummy drinks too. I've had the chicken, steak and shrimp here. The shrimp was my fave so far. It is a little pricey but you kinda expect that when you come to places like these. They have a couple other locations, but this one is the most fun. We've never had to wait that long to get a table. Parking is a pain in the booty if you come here on a Friday or Saturday night. There is way too much in the shopping center and such a small lot. My girlfriend and I have been coming into Shogun on and of for a couple of years. We used to sit at the teppan grill but the service was unpredictable at best- sometimes we would get an amazing chef and other times we would get terrible service. Recently we starting coming in again and ended up sitting at the bar where you can order the same exact thing at the grill, but the service that we get at the bar is wonderful. We like to come when Lexie is working, she is very personable and makes sure that we are well taken care of the entire time. The lunch special is really great.. lots of food for a good lunch special price. You get one roll of your choice from the many rolls that they have.. and an entree with rice and soup or salad.. So far.. I'd get so full off of the rolls that I hardly have any room for the entree.. and I tend to just take that one to-go.. Wifey picked this place out for our impromptu date night. She is not a big Sushi fan, or seafood fan for that matter, but she wanted to be a bit adventurous. We went on a Sunday night, got there and the first thing we heard coming in the door was the hostess quoting a 45 minute wait. We looked at each other like "But were just a party of two", so we tried our luck. Apparently that was the wait for Hibachi, because we were seated at a booth immediately. Diggin the ambiance as we were led to our table. Waiter was prompt and friendly, even though the place was somewhat slammed. I ordered an Iced Tea, which was good, but not great. Wifey got water. He advised us it was Happy Hour to our delight. Some cheap items to sample. We ordered the Spicy Edemame, which was good, but not spicy. The eggrolls were good but only two, cut in half. The sauce it comes with helps. The Tempura vegetables were great! Not hard to make I know, but easy to screw up. Cooked perfectly and the sauce was great. Only gripe was that it was only five pieces, for $4. Hardly Happy Hour prices anywhere else. Wifey ordered the Teriyaki Steak entree with Miso soup. I ordered the Teriyaki steak sushi combo special with a San Diego Roll and Onion soup. Hers came with grilled vegetables. The Teriyaki steak tastes great, but mine was juicy and moist since I went medium-rare. Perfect. Hers was medium-well, which didnt taste as good. Definitely dont get it cooked anything more than medium-rare. They dont give you very much for what you pay for. The Miso soup was OK. Standard fare. But the Onion soup was delicious, especially since I added some steamed rice to it. Yum! Her vegetables were ok, but the cabbage was funky, so theres that. We didnt eat the cabbage. We both got salads, but they werent very good due the excessive amount of funky tasting salad dressing. A few bites and we were done. The San Diego Roll was good, but no wow factor. So I ordered a Spicy Tuna hand roll which was wonderful, with plenty of spicy tuna. Very good. Then I ordered a Hot Mess, which tasted great, but the presentation was lacking for a $14 roll. Looked kind of like someone crapped a pile of shrimp onto a bunch of rolls. I know its called a Hot Mess, but it was obviously scooped and splatted on. Waiter did allow our drinks to hit bottom twice, but we observed that he was hustling and it was dinner rush, so no harm, no foul. The Hibachi area did not look like fun, so we are glad we skipped it. The bathrooms were nice but to well maintained, as the trash cans were overflowing, and the urinal areas needed mopping. GROSS. Also, the obnoxious round light hanging over our table needed to be dusted. We had to be vigilant enough to not put our food under it, as Dust Bunnies were not on the menu. Over all we enjoyed ourselves, but we will be trying other restaurants in T-Town before returning. read more

We've been to Shogun several times the food is good but really expensive I just found out you can share a plate yay. Now this is the first time we've ever been to the Temecula Shogun and I have to say San Marcos has better, more outgoing teppen chefs. Our guy looked to be about 12 and hardly spoke as he prepared the meal sheesh not even the lame "egg roll" joke, it was a Thursday so maybe they save their prime time players for Fridays and Saturdays. Wow, what a disappointment. 1) The seafood was horrible. Very non-fresh tasting and not cooked well. The steak was actually OK. 2) the environment was goofy. I guess the laser lights and the rave music the chef played THE ENTIRE MEAL might appeal to some--not to us. 3) the tricks were fairly standard, but they did far less than Benihana or other similar hibachi places. 4) Despite all this, the prices were just as bad as a Benihana. 5) Don't get the drink in the souvenirs Buddha cup! It's like a shot for $11!! You get much more by getting the standard glasses!! 6) To top it all off, my wife had informed them it was my birthday, and they did NOTHING. What kind of hibachi place brings out no ice cream and does no silly singing?!? We will not be back, and if you go, you only have yourself to blame. read more
