Went to purchase a new car (had done my research already on which model but couldn't remember the model number). Impressed from beginning to end. Roy Kuboyama, our sales representative was very helpful, low key, no pressure, and made us feel very comfortable. Explained my general wants, he showed us a model, and when I explained it wasn't the one I was looking for he quickly took us to another model that was the one I had researched (recognized the model number once I saw the vehicle). Showed us the options available, and when he showed me the exact options I wanted, he said they had it in stock in Kapolei and could get it sent over. No pressure to purchase a model or color iff the lot that I didn't want like I've had happen in the past at other dealers. I was asked if I wanted the windows tinted, and since I did, it was going to take a few days for it to be completed. I was leaving on a short trip in six days so he arranged pick up for the day after I was returning. He just needed to know what time I wanted to pick up the car. Roy checked my credit rating since I wasn't sure if I was going to finance or pay cash. He sent me the link to the credit application in case I did decide to finance. No pressure to get a loan or pay cash. I only had to put a down payment so they could tint the windows and to hold the car for me. The morning of pick up day I called to try and move up the pick up time by two hours, and Roy worked to make it happen. Care was waiting in a special area when we arrived. Even though I forgot to bring the title papers of my trade in, I was told to just bring it in later. Was offered an extended warranty and was told to get it only if I was planning to keep my car for more than four years. Again, no pressure. Wrote out my check (didn't even need a certified check), and went to get my car. The review of the features in the car went well. My first experience with Lexus isn't the greatest. I had my Lexus IS 350 and was forced to sell. I now drive a Lexus GS 350 and decided to give Lexus's a second chance, specifically with the Service Department. I needed to get the spring on my hood replaced along with replacing the back struts and tire replacements. My Service Advisor for this service is Frank Oros. He was knowledgeable, attentive and helpful during the entire process. He explained what was needed to be done. This entire process took about 3 weeks including getting the parts delivered and the time I took being away on a trip. Overall, I would recommend to have Frank Oros as your Service Advisor. About 10 feet from where we were seated, an older couple was openly discussing financing terms with their consultant, which felt surprisingly exposed. --- Waiting & Initial Follow-Up After 25 minutes, our daughter was understandably restless, and my wife and I were growing impatient as well. I let the receptionist know we needed to leave in five minutes. She informed the sales manager again. He glanced over once more and continued what he was doing. After approximately 30 minutes total, I asked for his business card and left. Later that day, I emailed Rex asking for a recommendation for a sales consultant who: - Was comfortable with factory orders - Was responsive - Understood cash purchases He recommended Ricky Thai. --- Sales Process Reality Ricky contacted me the following day and explained Servco Lexus Honolulu's ordering process; something future customers should understand clearly: Although Lexus USA allows customers to configure vehicles pre-production, Servco does not allow full customer-selected configurations. It's been 10 years since I've been in the market for another vehicle and I was honestly not looking forward to car shopping. As soon as I entered the showroom I was greeted and offered a beverage. I bought my first pre-owned Lexus, and the experience was amazing! I visited the dealership twice looking for the perfect fit. Ethan helped me the first day and over the course of a few days following my visit, he answered all my questions and was very helpful. Ethan Medrano was absolutely phenomenal in helping me purchase my car. It wasn't at all the perfect experience as you might guess from the first line of this review. In fact, I was so frustrated to the point of almost purchasing an entirely different car from another dealership all together. A system error brought in the right car, wrong color and that was literally my only non-negotiable. It was the biggest let down and I was furious. That said, Ethan was so apologetic and did absolutely everything he could to make it right. He hustled and kept me updated daily even when it wasn't good news, which is notable considering I was probably a little scary at that moment.
