Kinda disappointed with the service crew here. One guy on the phone taking story and laughing. This place is AMAZING! I went in for wiper blades and got the full service. I don't know if it was because I was there at opening when no one else does or if Darrel is always that nice. Maybe he has a "honey do" list at home from his wife and was trying to save my husband a job, but I bought the blades and he put them on for me!!! I came to Larry's Auto Parts to buy a car battery. My truck hasn't been driven in a while and the battery was so dead and corroded. Plus it was time for my safety check. First I went to Costco to get a battery but they said they discontinued the batteries for my truck. I have a 96 pickup so I don't blame them. They said to try Larry's. I went there hoping that they would have my battery and they did. When you buy a battery you also pay for disposal. I asked him advice on how to get rid of the corrosion and he told me a mixture to brush on the area. He was very helpful and put the battery in my car and I went home to try his concoction. It worked and I was able to get the contact points for the battery shiny and not corroded anymore. My truck was able to start with the new battery. I returned back to the shop with my battery and he was helpful to help me take it out of my truck. Very good customer service and I would definitely come back here again. read more

The phone call was pleasant and helpful, when i arrived it was a much different story. The guy who answered the phone was not the guy who rang me up. I spend most of my time keeping PTSD from ripping through my sanity and as a former Marine with trauma issues I like to weave a smile and a joke as often as I can so I am not compelled to rip through the sanity of another. I expected horrible service from these types of auto supply stores. Your typical grumpy employees sitting behind the computers looking for parts all day with zero customer service skills. This location does not disappoint. The workers here are grumpy and have zero customer service. I guess they deal with cheap customers all day long, who don't want to take their vehicles in to a shop to get it fixed. I must say this place has a lot of parking but it's a super small store and they don't stock much. Mostly everything is special order from their local warehouse. Anyone looking for HOSPITAL grade, 80% ethanol alcohol hand sanitizers? It also says its WHO, CDC, and FDA compliant. How can you go wrong? Larry's has them!! They're limiting the amount you can purchase which helps curb hoarders from buying them all at one time. I was told that it is a bit more liquidy than gel so be careful when pumping it out. They have smaller bottles you can dispense the gallon size into for more convenient portion size. I'm thankful they were able to bring them in. I am happy Napa has reopened in Hawaii Kai. It is now located next to the police station and Central Pacific Bank. The store is smaller than its previous location, but it is cleaner and feels a lot more comfortable. I've been here several times already within the past few weeks. The alternator and then the starter died in my dad car. Yes, very disheartening, so I'm glad that the employees there at Napa were very helpful, informative, and showed a high level of concern about my car issues. If you need an alternator or a starter, I highly recommend buying one at Napa because there's a LIFETIME warranty on them. my car is a 2022 corolla. And Although it's a pretty new car, I had a hunch my battery was going to go. Small kind of hesitation on the start up. I figured maybe because i did a lot of door dash that i burned out the battery. I had tested my battery at home and it registered as "replace battery". I took it Larrys Auto parts (NAPA) and theirs also tested the same result. I didn't get the guy's name, but he took the effort of testing it. I was able to crank it up 2 times with no problem. But when he walked back inside my car would not start. So i was thinking how fortunate of my car to die right in front of their store. I bought the battery for $195 and had a hard time installing it especially with all the new electronics that the corolla has. Daryl came out with no hesitation and installed it for me. The staff here is very helpful and like in the old days will help customers make sure they have the right parts even to the point of going out to the parking lot to make sure. I didn't ask him how he spells it. 5/30/13) When you go in for a part make sure you know: 1) Make, e.g. Ford, 2) Model, e.g. Mustang Fastback, 3) Year, e.g. 1965-1/2, and 4) Engine size, e.g. 289ci, (5.0L) HP Yeah, you can go to Long's or Walgreens and get stuff cheaper, like engine oil, windshield fluid, etc. but in the long run it's good to develop a relationship with people who will be there to help you out of a jam. read more

I purchased a rear windshield wiper and asked if installation was difficult. The young gentleman working there asked if I brought my car, he can install it for me! With joy I went outside to my car, just as I got to my car it started to rain, and the heavy pouring of the rain continued as I moved my car closer to the curve side of the store. my hope was the rain would stop soon and the staff would be able to help me with the wiper installation. Tucked away in a corner store of Hawaii Kai Town Center, Larry's Auto Parts is a small store packed with great auto parts and tools. More importantly, the staff is really KNOWLEDGEABLE and helpful. Every time I have gone in and asked a question, they took the time to look up an answer if they already didn't know it off of the top of their heads. If they did not have a part in stock, they offered to order it or transfer it from one of their other stores. So, sadly, I have to report the LAP in Hawaii Kai is closing on April 17, 2014, leaving Hawaii Kai without an auto parts store. They lost their lease so another RESTAURANT could open. The only real problem I have with this location is that it's closed on sundays. I mean, why would you close on a day of the week where most people are working on their cars?? We need more auto parts dealers in HK besides this store and they need to be open on Sundays. I always have to drive to O'Reillys all the way in town or in Kaneohe just to get parts for my truck whenever I work on it on the weekend and sometimes it can be a real hassle. read more
