How much does a smog check cost?

I dont think they do smog check, because no smog here, yet and not legal requirement. They may have equipment to check hydrocarbons coming out of tailpipe, however, or use computer. Call your new car dealer for this service. Also, there may be… Read more

Can I bring in my own oil and filter for an oil change?

You'll need to check with the owner. However I'm not sure why you'd want too. They'd still have to charge you for used oil disposal fees and the labor increases slightly because of opening either many bottles of oil and draining them in vs the… Read more

Do I need to make an appointment or are walk-ins okay?

It is highly recommended to make an appointment. Tho you can do a "walk-in", you may have to wait a long, long time. This place is very busy!

Amin took care of me by asking me questions, testing out my car, and explaining possibilities of what could be causing the issue. The challenge is that it is intermittent and it's difficult to reproduce. He did his best to try and replicate it, but wasn't able to. Although I took some of his time to look at my car, he didn't charge me anything as diagnostics didn't need to be run due to no engine light appearing. I truly appreciate the support he provided, top notch. And they are easy to reach out using Yelp messages (just make sure that it sends properly). Thank you, Amin.

It's missing vinyl film shields on one side, but they left them on the other side so I don't know what happened there. They didn't color match evidence is in the picture there's clearly a line of the two different colors and I can't believe they didn't wash the truck after they finished painting it. The truck also has a weird odor inside. I'm not sure why. When I asked how much it would be to paint the roof it was first $700 then when I agreed to the 3 panels I told him I'd pay for the top on my own dime the price went up over double $1500 for 1 panel. SMH never again. So for 3 panels one being the truck bed it was $1900 then to paint 1 more panel the roof was an extra $1500 just doesn't add up

Since my last review over five years ago, Uncle James has helped me with an AC leak diagnosis, engine and transmission mount replacements, front and rear brake pads and rotors, a tune-up when my car was bogging, an alternator replacement, radiator replacement (because I cracked it trying to do the alternator myself), and now a transmission filter replacement. Pretty much every major maintenance or repair on my car has been done here, unless it was something I handled myself at home (the only exception being my CV axles that I saw Uncle Alan for at Kaimuki Auto). I'm incredibly thankful for Uncle James and the team for consistently delivering quality work at genuinely fair prices. I recently spent months doing drain-and-fills on my transmission fluid due to slippage driving uphill and hesitation between gears after cold starts. By the third drain, it became obvious the fluid wasn't improving at all. There's a common myth that transmission fluid lasts the "lifetime" of the car, but the reality is, it often doesn't. Just like ignoring oil changes, neglecting transmission fluid can eventually lead to serious (and expensive) repairs. In many cases, transmission work can cost even more than engine repairs. So here I am, trying to address the issue the best way I can. I won't lie, part of me hates that my car is now at the stage where issues pop up once or twice a year. Financially, though, buying a new car just isn't in the cards right now. Uncle James makes it possible for me to keep my car running safely and affordably while I work toward that next step, and I'm sure many others in the community feel the same way. McCully Auto remains my #1 choice for automotive maintenance and repairs. I've never had a bad experience, and I'm deeply grateful for the generosity, honesty, and wisdom Uncle James continues to share. I don't know what I would do without him, honestly.

He's gone out of his was to order parts specially for me when my A/C broke and he's always accommodating when I need stuff like oil changes. He's super busy all the time which is a testament to his business being a neighborhood staple. He definitely relies on family and friend referrals though so if you're a brand new customer you might not get help as fast as you want. But that's just because of his popularity with local families.

Da Guy Mobile Repairs - da guy at work

Absolutely amazing experience working with Da Guy Mobile Repairs…read more I had a horrible time trying to get the oil filter off of my Accord; it was stuck worse than I've ever experienced and, it being my first attempt at a change on this specific model, I didn't realize how stupidly enclosed it was on all sides. After deforming it with various tools, my brother attempted to drive a screwdriver through it as a hail mary. All that did was put a hole in it and leave oil everywhere. He got back to my voicemail as soon as he could, asked for my info and pictures to give me an accurate quote and schedule, then set up a time with me the next morning (on a holiday). The quote was more than reasonable. He showed up, got to work with whatever he could use on the battered filter, but the lack of space and the state I left the filter in proved a challenge. He kept me informed as he was working, then after a while, told me he would leave to get another tool that had helped him in the past. Before he left, he went down the list of scenarios and possible labor cost increase, and I really appreciated that. Fortunately, the tool he went to grab worked on the first try. He put everything back where it needed to be and replaced the zip ties he had to cut to gain more working space. The price stayed as quoted even though it probably took longer than he anticipated, and he even threw on the new filter while he still had my car on his stands. Overall, it was a great experience and I would not hesitate to call on him again for any future needs. Definitely would recommend him to anyone in need of mobile repair.

I understand business enough to know that if someone is mobile, chances are they are cheaper since they don't have to pay for a brick and mortar shop, so I gave him a chance. Really chill and honest guy. Great communication, fast texter, and reliable. And again, since he's mobile, he only charged me $575 for the replacement. I don't know if that's a good price, but it sure is better than $1100. Also, I forgot to mention that I never actually got to meet him. All I know about him is from our experience over text. Basically, since my FIL WFH I set up the appointment and let my FIL do the meet-up and etc. Da Guy quoted me $575 and my FIL double-checked that's what he charged me. I gave him my CC info after the repair and it was a smooth service and transaction. Highly recommend him for your auto repair needs, especially if you need something relatively soon. We texted him on Saturday and he booked us for Wednesday. Big plus since a lot of us also WFH. I am a loyal customer!
