It's a drive-thru required annual Hawai'i Safety Check station; an actual drive- thru! And it truly lives up to its name: there are two separate lanes with one person servicing both lanes while a second person is on the side uploading all relevant information, collecting the required annual fee and taking the necessary pictures to be uploaded to the State system as a double check. Both of these gentlemen are extremely knowledgeable, super friendly, courteous, fast and efficient! Although, the location is on the other side of the island from where we live, it is well worth the travel over the mountain because of the time you save making, to me anyway, a huge value! I've been going to this place for 5 years now, and always had a great experience. This last time was the worst experience I have ever had at a business. There website says first come first serve as well as there voicemail for there business. I went there this morning at 8:45 am and was third in line to be served to get my safety check done. A guy walked up and split the cars that were behind me after I was waiting for over 20 minutes already and the cars that were behind me were serviced before me after he split the line. I asked the guy a question why they are being serviced first when I was before him. This guy got rude and told me I can go somewhere else. I pulled up finally and he told me he would not service me at all and I had to go somewhere else. This is a clear case of discrimination because I am white, it was very clear, and I have never felt so disrespected going to a business is my life. This place is beyond horrible and should not be allowed to be open and service people, the most unprofessional business I have ever gone too. I feel so disrespected by them I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau as well. I feel discriminated against 100%. I only have myself to blame for waiting until the last minute to get my safety check done. I overlooked 3 small bulbs that are the "Gotcha Kine" when having your car looked over by professionals! The Safety Check itself is reasonable at $25.00 but gets Expensive if you want it fixed on the spot! Safety check, 3 new light bulbs $105.31! $20.00 X 3 light bulbs for labor, tax & 3% .76 cent fee? Still great teamwork here, that gets you in and out very expediently! I'm very satisfied with their service. Next time I will be more aware of when my check is due and look my car over, could have saved $60.00 by changing those bulbs myself! Definitely the place to get your safety check done fast and right! I was super impressed last week when McCully Union, using electronic analysis and numerous road tests, was able to identify a faulty fuel injector as the cause of an intermittent cylinder misfire on my 2007 Toyota RAV4. In the past I had always taken the car to the Toyota Service Center as I incorrectly believed that only the dealership had the expertise and diagnostic equipment to correct major engine issues. Okay, 200+ reviews praising their safety check process can't be wrong - and it's absolutely true. 100% the best place to go. I needed a safety check quickly because my registration snuck up on me (okay, it does literally every year, whatevs) and here I am at the end of the month trying to take care of business. Found this place recommended online and realized this was EXACTLY what I needed - no appointment, roll in, quick inspection, roll out and get on your way to the dmv kiosk. I got there around 930am on a Wednesday and there were two cars in front of me. The inspector came up right away to check that I had my paperwork then had me pull into the other lane (wasn't sure whether I should have done that first, but it was all good). They've got the process down - turn on lights and high beams, turn signals, honk the horn, check brake lights, turn signals again, reverse lights, wipers, open the windows and doors, take the photos, print the sticker (which they put on for me). No need to even leave the car. Barely 10 minutes from arriving to exiting. Brilliant. Both the staff members working the inspection lanes were so friendly and - as someone who HATES car repair and maintenance because of how I've been treated in the past - I especially appreciated the efficiency and aloha here.
