Had an issue with my car starting. Went to Lexus to get diagnosed with multiple techs blaming install from sounds installed. This was not the case!!! Ata was patient helped me navigate all issues that was caused from Lexus techs! I paid $1,600 to a dealership to fix the multi-purpose camera. 5 days later, my car wouldn't start so had it jumped. When that happened, the diagnostic self-test mode appeared on the screen and wouldn't go away. I didn't know if that problem was related to the one I just got fixed so I took it back to the dealership. I was told it was a different problem and I'd have to pay another $1,300 to replace the radio. I was referred to Car Audio by the service writer (who has always been helpful) because they weren't able to hard set the screen stuck in the in-line diagnostic/self-test mode. The Car Audio guy looked at the screen and said he could take out the radio and see if it could be re-set. He quoted a reasonable amount for this diagnostic but told me if it couldn't be re-set, I'd probably have to change the radio. A second guy came to the car to see what was going on and assisted in troubleshooting the problem. Within 5 minutes, they resolved the issue! On top of that, the guy who was helping me (sorry, didn't get your name), said that I didn't need to pay. As a kupuna, I was very appreciative of this kind gesture, which is rare in today's business environment. I will be sure to refer others! read more

Got a mp3 stereo installed by these guys ATA and KAMA and they were able to do it under 50 minutes, I've called around and they were best priced on top of the time installation, can't be beat. They're a bunch of professionals who genuinely put effort into solving problems and maintain a very friendly and honest relationship with their customers. If it can be mounted or wired, they can mount or wire it-- they even assembled the camper shell for my truck and put it on. I've had nothing but good experiences with them and their pricing is fair for the work they put in. It was fast service but I think to fast. They installed a new radio in my car and everything else works fine. The only issue I have is the call button on my steering wheel. It doesn't function so when I asked them to take a look at it, they told me I didn't need that button. They told me I could press call on the new radio if I wanted to answer calls. They also told me I will have to replace the steering wheel to have the button work. I didn't know what to say honestly, so I just left but I paid a lot of money for this radio. Instead of looking and seeing what the issue is they told me I don't need to use it anyways. How lazy on them to not look, once I paid them that was their attitude. Now I have to take it to a mechanic to look at it. Poor service and not helpful! read more

Quick stop to get our alarm system in our FJ Cruiser changed out. We called and was told to come the next day between 9:30 - 12 noon. We dropped off our vehicle at 9:30 am and was called by 3:00 pm when the service was done. They do not have a courtesy vehicle to drive you back home so make sure to make arrangements for that. My work schedule was hectic and trying to break away from work is hard to do, but when I called the shop I was instructed by Ata to bring my vehicle in. I questioned him, "now?" He replied, "Yes, now no problem." When I arrived, the place was packed with customers and his crew was nice and courteous, closing other customers car doors so I could park in front of the shop! Within minutes (literally, not kidding), I was in and out of the shop with my stereo sound system sounding better than ever!!! Very friendly staff, but unable to competently install or diagnose what they sell. There were logic errors with the alarm which they fixed for free. Twice after that the alarm left me stranded in Honolulu requiring a costly Uber to bring up more keys Back up camera is intermittent, often giving me just a black screen, defeating the purpose of paying for this stuff in the first place. CarPlay has never reliably worked, despite bringing the vehicle back several times. The final time I was left with missing dash screws and a broken USB panel. If someone has a recommended place that can fix their work, please let me know, I would love for this to do what it is supposed to. read more

Without going into all the details, Jay took out the damaged part, advised me the exact part to buy, headed me in the direction to purchase it, (so far zero cost) then when I got the new part, he installed it lickety-split, re-set all the controls, took untold time to show me how to program the part and all at a completely reasonable cost...... and with a smile on his face. I called and was given a quote of 900+ for 2 10" subs and an amp with an install. Came in ready to pay that price but turns out they did everything for less , 830$! Wow I'm super stoked on my experience at Car Audio & Security Specialists today! Last week I did a Yelp search for Car Audio installation and I got five hits right away. The quotes ranged between $280.-$500! (A moble Service quoted me $700!) My simple Amazon.com system cost me no more than $130 for everything so $500 to install it was out of the question! All of the owners asked my budget but Ata the owner of Car Audio Security Specialists was the only one who really worked with me to keep my install as close to my original budget. Ata and all of his staff were cool and friendly and didn't make me feel like a sucker when I walked in asking basic questions and then over quoting me like another shop did in Kalihi. They never made me feel uncomfortable about my cheap Amazon.com system or try to up-sale me their better stuff! I really appreciated that! In the end the total cost was CHEAPER than his original quote and that was after taxes! Again my stereo system was a very simple system so I wasn't expecting bass booming sounds but for what I put into it I'm completely satisfied and highly recommend Car Audio Security Specialists! read more
