My wife cd stereo broke wasn't playing the CD. Plus something was wrong with her speaker . So I decided to stop by the Car Stereo Express on Sunday and replace the stereo. Got greeted by the owner and the only reason I know he's the owner because if you watch the Champ show on OC16 he advertises on that show. Anyway I ask for the cheapest stereo than of course he gave me a price. I thought it was a little high so I responded anything cheaper because I don't need anything fancy because it's for my wife's car anyway.The owner replied I have this particular stereo $20 cheaper. Ok for everyone out there if your not careful and know about stereo there going to try to up sell you. In the first place when I ask for the cheapest stereo don't you think he would have gave me that price first ! So of course I picked this stereo place only because it's convenient so I can walk to Pearlridge to kill some time while they install my stereo. About 1 hour went by than I get a call saying I need to replace the speakers . I ask them what's the cheapest speakers and how much would it cost ?. The technician I talked to said I'll need to replace 4 speakers and the cost would be $320. I said wait a minute what if I only buy 2 speakers than he replied $170. Car Stereo Express will keep telling you he'll give you a $200 credit or discount for a deck that went bad, but when I seriously price the costs, he'll only offer $99 discount. Don't go to this business. They messed up my car real bad. Purchased a alarm system and started having problems every month after it was installed. Passenger door wouldn't lock so went back to them to get it fixed. Told me that a piece in the door handle broke off due to their alarm cable is too strong and that's why it broke. Asked if they could fix that and they said "no". That I have to go to the manufacturer to get it fixed. So than I asked if they could fix it since their alarm is what broke it. They did something and got it to work. A month went by and again the passenger door wouldn't lock again. Went to them again to find out what's wrong. Asked if I could see inside the door so they could explain the problem. And they said "no" and they will fix it. So they got it to work. Another month went by, now the passenger door won't lock again and now the driver side door won't unlock. Went to them again to tell them the problem. And they tell me that it's not the alarm system. It's cause my car is too old. So I took it to a friend's shop to find out if it was my car or it's the alarm system. He said that the car is fine and it could be due to the alarm that's causing this problem. So he told me to go to another alarm place and that maybe they can tell me what's wrong. So I asked a friend that knows a trusted alarm place and went to them to have it checked out. And they both said "it was the alarm that screwed up everything". They showed me the inside of my door and explained everything that these guys did wrong. They asked where I went and they told me that's a place you should never go to. That they've had people come to them after going to car stereo express. Took pics of what these guys did wrong so I can show them since they said it wasn't the alarm that messed up my door. They helped me in getting parts to fix the mess. I'll definitely be going to them from now on. So take my advice and don't go to car stereo express. I've read the other reviews and it seems like they just wanna make money but do a shitty job to get you to come back and spend more money. AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE COVID-19. Im not one to write reviews as I'm often too busy working. But the owner Steve ( guy up front) deserves a special call out on this experience. Brought my brand new vehicle in and was told I was getting a great deal. First install after 1 hour amp cut out . Was told brand new amp was bad and they replaced with smaller one. Ok? Within 1 hour after second install, noticed surge of sub after startup and turnoff. 3 trips back on my days off to have addressed, no solution. Immediately noticed sunroof not operating took to dealership. Technician states car audio place failed to reinstall clips on overhead module / head liner correctly after installing cameras. customer liable for repair cost. Contacted steve at car audio express; "i don't wana hear it", quote. Called steve today thinking patience and dialogue could lead to a possible solution; WRONG. Told "we cannot help you, live with it, your car no good", quote. People, you pay for what you get, own a new car?, Take it somewhere else as Oahu had plenty of options. Its true how they fallow you around, but i think its funny. Their just trying to help you know. They really know what their talking about. The guys here will answer all your questions and show you examples. I paid $220 for a Kenwood deck with front ipod connection and aux connection. When you plug in your iphone/ipod, it will charge. the great think about it, is that i can also play Pandora! This deck also comes with a bluetooth connection and they will install a mic in your car. They didn't charge me for installation which is a $50-150 value because i printed out their coupon that is on their web site for free installation. That's a plus! I hate a pushy salesmen that's trying to sell you something you don't need! The father son operated business is right on. I brought in a sub and 2 amps and asked them if they could take a look at the amps to see if they are working. The son said usually we don't install outside equipment, but they made and exception that if the amps or sub did not work this would be my option this amp or that amp at a very affordable rate! Wow super stoked! Anyway they installed the used equipment and they said this system works and there was no problems.
