    Westgate Scrambler with sourdough toast
    Brianne C.

Stopped by for breakfast today with my mom. Was surprised that they have a small cocktail menu - I ordered the Strawberry Margarita Mimosa and it was tasty and a good size for $4.99. I ordered the Westgate skillet which was full of flavor. Tasty chorizo, salsa, and potatoes. I chose the sourdough toast and ended up taking half of my skillet home. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. There was a 15-20 minute wait at 11 am on a Sunday and we were seated right around 15 minutes.

First time here and decide to grab breakfast to go. We got the western omelet with hashbrown and cheesy grits sides. In addition we got the breakfast hash with chorizo and side of hasbrown. Both were amazinggggg! I'm not even a breakfast person and loved every bite. The portions were huge so I even had leftovers for later. Would definitely recommend!

Wanted pancakes and corned beef hash this morning. This spot used to be really good. My first warning sign was the "closed" sign was still in the window, but there were many people inside - about 20 or so. I walked in and there was no hostess. Waited more than 5 minutes. As I was about to leave, the young lady came to the front. I was seated. It was another 5-7 minutes before she came back. Apparently she's the only one working as a server and hostess. I did tell her that the sign said "closed" and she just laughed. I ordered pancake and corned beef hash. When the food finally came out almost 15 minutes later, it was regular hash with cheese and a pancake. The pancake was cold. The butter wouldn't even melt. I just cancelled my order. Is there new ownership here?? I've never had this experience at this location. I will not be returning.

    Table debris

I am writing this for the Powell restaurant. So I went for breakfast today. I always get the same thing: the Westgate. It was delicious as usual. What I want to mention is the lack luster service . I am not going to mention my servers name. She did nothing wrong, but her demeanor made my dining experience unpleasant. It was not in anything she said, but when I made requests her body language and facial expressions made me feel that I was doing her a disservice, maybe even interfering with her day. She never smiled or looked me in the eye. Yes, I know that good help is hard to get, but in my opinion if you show up to work then do so with a positive attitude, perhaps even be grateful that you have a job. This next complaint is for every restaurant that I frequent. Why can't the servers take what I call the debris off the tables? By debris I mean the empty sugar wrappers, the individual serving creamer cups, that paper on which butter pats are served, etc. It is a pet peeve of mine that this debris build up on my table when it can be removed in an instant. In fact I put mine neatly assembled at the edge of the table so that can be picked up easily in one hand. Unknown to my servers, I will actually put an extra $5.00 in the tip to any server who takes the debris away without me asking. It does not happen often unfortunately. Well, that is all I have to say. The food is good, I just wish the service was good too.

A lot of these reviews complain about bad service but my service was wonderful! I've been coming here for five years and have never had crappy service so maybe I'm lucky or maybe the service really isn't that bad. The food though is always great! Id pick this over Bob Evans and IHOP any day! It's got pretty much anything you'd want, from heavy to healthy, omelettes to skillet stir fries to classic biscuits and gravy or benedicts to pancakes & French toast. If you're hanging with a picky crowd this is a great got everything kind of breakfast place to go. I wish the coffee selection were a bit better but hey, this isn't a cafe. Overall I'm satisfied!

Ordered Eyed Opener Casserole, which is supposed to "feed a group of 4". There was barely enough for 2. Tastes Ok, but not worth $40+.

Our server Kelcie, who was 5* by the way, helped us in navigating all the intricacies to the ingredients. Lots of nuance to the menu. Our choices: lamb appetizer, black cod, sirloin, and chocolate mousse; each were tasty, presented well, and excellent dishes. The potato cake on the steak was very different and well done. Our Old Fashion had a nice taste. The place is very small and reservations are a must. The GM Michael came by and chatted us up...to thank us for coming, and glad they were able to accommodate our food needs. Nice touch. Excellent bathrooms. Thanks for that. The small cozy atmosphere was a delight to enjoy a wonderful meal and conversation. The drinks were exceptionally great and since I'm coming from California, very affordable. The food was delicious, especially the braised beef croquets, chicken friend mushrooms, whipped ricotta, and sourdough. The pork collar and the tare squash were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. I requested the sommelier to recommend a wine that would compliment our order and the Domaine de Ferrand Chateauneuf - du- Pape a fine French wine from the Rhone Valley was our selection. This was a beautiful bottle and fine selection. John, our server was the perfect gentlemen and server with great personality and full of customer service.

Every time I come here, I eat something different and it seems that the bar is set pretty high, you can actually tell the managers and owners are fully invested in making this business successful. As always food and ambience is good and I know this should be part of the review, but I've said it so many times that I just wanted to highlight the wonderful job the owners and management are doing for this place. Please make sure the highest standard quality is gonna be here forever because I'll be eating at this place for every normal day or special occasion. We tried the fried burrata appetizer but didn't care that much for it as the cheese didn't have hardly any flavor to it . Will not order it again . Still expensive. $27 I think for a sandwich, two sides, two drinks. But, standard "captive audience" prices, and decent portions. The food itself was better than anything else I've had at the zoo, and there are more options. Baby K had a side of mac, I had a kielbasa sandwich with fries. The mac was fancier than you'd expect from food service places: big curly cavatappi, creamy multi-cheese sauce (supposedly smoked.) A little too fancy for a kid, at least my kid. She said it was good but didn't eat much. I liked it, and ate what I could to avoid wastage. The fries were pretty darn good, to both of us. Big, crispy, lightly salted. The kielbasa was huge, way bigger than the bun, and topped with decent mustard and pickled onions. A pretty good combo. The sausage itself was mild and sweet, so Baby K also had some of that and loved it. No lids or straws, so hard to carry drinks away (on purpose.) Very good service at the counter, and other employees around to help clean up, etc. Great atmosphere- you can see the lion pen, there is indoor and outdoor seating in impressive comfort, and steady but not busy at 11 on a weekday morning.
