Absolutely love this place. Everything I've gotten here has been really good, and you can tell it's made fresh. The bread is amazing, and the pastries and cookies are so good too. It's one of those places where it's hard to leave without buying more than you planned. It's a smaller local bakery, so there's not a ton of space inside, but I honestly think that's part of the charm. It's mostly a grab-and-go kind of place, and the service is always really fast, so you're not standing around waiting forever. The people working there are super nice, and the prices are fair for the quality you're getting. If you're anywhere near Powell and like fresh baked stuff, you've gotta check this place out. Being a resident of Powell, I have wanted to try them for a few years now. Great baked goods and was able to preorder for Saturday pickup easily on their website. I would suggest following them on Facebook to get the list of baked goods they will have in the days to come. Not all items are offered daily. For example, I wanted to order the triple berry bread pudding and cream puffs, but the cream puffs were only for Friday and the bread pudding for Saturday. When I went to pickup the order, I did not even have to step in the store, because they had orders boxed up and ready to go on a shelf they left outside the front door. I ended up ordering the orange zest cinnamon rolls, regular cinnamon rolls, triple berry bread pudding, honey whole wheat bread, and pop tarts that came in strawberry and brown sugar flavors. The orange zest cinnamon rolls were good. When I got to the end though, there was an overwhelming taste of what seemed to be orange liquor towards the bottom, which was not pleasant. The regular cinnamon rolls are huge and I can understand why they are 2/$10. However, instead of a drizzle of icing, I would have liked the whole cinnamon roll glazed with icing. IMO, there was not enough icing to roll ratio. The bread pudding was good and not overly sweet, it is $7 a piece. I really enjoyed their pop tarts, especially the strawberry flavor. The honey wheat bread is good, but thought it was a bit expensive at $10/loaf. Will try some other items in future. read more

This bakery is amazing! Every so often my mom or I will stop over and grab some sweet treats for the rest of the family and as much as we want to hold on and savor our choices, they are eaten within 12 hours of purchase. Their cinnamon rolls are fantastic (especially when you pop them in the microwave for 2 seconds). Overall just a great little place to satisfy your sweet tooth at any time of day. read more

This is a cute little bakery in Powell. The shopkeeper was really friendly and informative. They have a selection of breads and sweets available. I got the cheddar bread, a sourdough loaf, and a sweet caramel apple loaf. My favorite is the cheddar bread! It is so tasty. I bit salty but still good. The caramel apple loaf topping was delicious, the actual bread a little on the dry side. Overall the breads I got were good. It was okay.. Expensive, but really just Okay.. Sometimes it takes some time to get into a groove, they haven't been there too long. There's really no competition given time it might get better.. could also go the other direction. It is clean, and quaint. the staff is very friendly. But, i have been spoiled by coming from a place where the bakeries have been open for 80 years and are generational. If i look at this more from a columbus comparison, it's probably the best bakery in town, at least that I have found, but.. I live with a woman who cooks and bakes, and as such, in order for me to be blown away they have to compete with her, and that's not an easy task, since she and I come from the same place not Ohio. If you are from the tristate area, and expect that type of bakery you will be disappointed, but if all you know is Ohio, it's the best option around. I wish them all the best, and hope that in 80 years and four generations they understand this review isn't negative, just based on perception.. read more

An easy in and out visit for some delicious chocolate chip banana bread and a giant focaccia. The entrance is a bit crowed as only half the store space is open for customers right now. However this allows for curbside pickup. The entire visit was probably only five minutes. read more

Ordered a variety of sweet and savory baked goods from Beehive for an early Father's Day brunch for my husband. Everything was reasonably priced (ie blueberry and cheddar-chive scones $4 each, loaf of sourdough $6, an 8" full cheesecake $20). The sweets were not too sugary, with a very sophisticated level of sweetness, which we really enjoyed. My husband loved the sourdough bread and wants to order their sourdough starter next time to bake his own bread at home. The lemon pull apart bread was my absolute favorite - and I'm guessing this is a popular option since there's a limit to how many each customer can purchase (2). Their COVID-19 online ordering process was easy and seamless (online ordering available Thurs/Fri/Sat between 8am to noon for same day pick up or delivery in the afternoon; sold out items do not appear on the website so there's no risk of items being cancelled from your order). We did the delivery option (+$5), only offered for Powell 43065 zip code; delivery window was 1-2pm and it arrived well before 2pm. All around positive experience. A good product gets consumers in the door, but customer service keeps them coming back- and these ladies know good customer service!! I ordered some of their brownies on special, to come back and pick up in a couple hours after the fresh batch was baked... when I got there, they were out of the oven but a bit hot still, so once they were cut they weren't shaped perfectly. Delightful! Breads and other assorted goodies baked fresh daily! I've been meaning to visit this small family run bakery for some time. They don't have late evening hours. A group of us made a special trip on our lunch hour to visit. They offer a selection of staple daily breads. Then, based on the day of the week, they offer different specialty and sweet breads. They have a large blackboard inside that shows which breads are baked on which day. They usually have a few different kinds of cookies and other treats. I stopped here one Sunday after brunch @ Kraft House no.5 because I had heard Beehive had the best cinnamon rolls from a number of coworkers and I am glad I did. When I pondered in the bakery rack still had some bread and goodies, but the first thing I was looking for and asked the employee was about the cinnamon rolls. Beehive sells day old cinnamon rolls for a dollar off or one can purchase rolls made that day for the normal price of 2.50, I chose a fresh one and asked for the biggest one. I also purchased a salted caramel sandie bar, the shortbread crust was delicious and so was the topping. Only spend $5 for those two items, I will def be back next time I am around Powell. We served the Beehive Bread Company's cinnamon rolls at our wedding and I do not have enough positive things to say! Amy and her team went above and beyond in every way. The cinnamon rolls were some of the best I have ever had and they worked with us to create a custom 3-tiered cinnamon roll tower to use as a focal piece at the reception. Amy met with us multiple times and even allowed us to come to her kitchen to experiment with recipes, sizes, and baking and assembling techniques to achieve our vision. It turned out even better than I expected! They tasted just as good as the little ones and we even got to enjoy the giant cinnamon roll layers on our honeymoon. I would highly recommend for any wedding or event you are planning! We will certainly be back for both events and everyday enjoyment in the future! read more

I've been a regular here for over a couple of years now. My only complaint is that the products aren't organic, but my hope is that it's still a better choice than grocery store options with preservatives. I've bought organic breads from Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, but they always get moldy within two or three days, and I can't get myself into the habit of immediately throwing half the loaf in the freezer when I get home in order to avoid that outcome. Beehive's breads always last a solid week, and even then they typically get stale before they get moldy, so you can still avoid wasting it if you use it for toast or make croutons. I primarily opt for the whole grain loaves, which are hearty and dense, so it isn't uncommon for me to use just one slice for a sandwich. The honey whole wheat, steel cut oat, and brain bread are our favorites. There are also some 50/50 options if you're in the mood for a softer, less dense bread, in which case I recommend the sunflower flax. Delicious! There are great savory options as well, such as tomato herb, spinach sundried tomato, and spinach feta. I have two young kids, and they don't hesitate to chow down on these breads. If we get bored with eating it straight out of the bag, I use a slice as a substitute pizza crust or pita for gyros, etc. depending on the flavor. Of course, the sweet stuff can't be left out. While I don't splurge on this category too often, we have had the opportunity to try several things over the last couple of years. Highlights include the pumpkin bread (plain or with choc chips), blueberry-zucchini bread, loaded oatmeal bars, pumpkin cookies, lemon cookies, and peanut butter choc chip cookies. Also, the pumpkin chocolate chip muffins are a favorite and gigantic enough that we only need one to satisfy me and both kids! Two bonus perks: free samples, and the stamp cards which provide you a free cookie and free loaf of bread after you accumulate the right number of stamps. It's nice to be appreciated. read more

This bakery is a very regular stop for the Husband and I. We love to ride our bikes to downtown Powell and treat ourselves to the wide variety of both sweet and savory baked goods. The quality of all of their products is amazing. So fresh! They are sweet enough to let you sample their daily breads to help you choose what you would like to take home. Their chocolate chip pumpkin bread is absolutely my favorite, but their lemon poppy seed bread is a great light summer choice! Make sure and stop by. Not only do they have the BEST BREAD, they also have the BEST PRICES on authentic "made from scratch" bread (much better than other specialty bread stores). First, for yeast breads, they have the best honey whole wheat (we go through two loaves a week), sourdough, sourdough and wheat cinnamon bread, cheddar cheese bread, spinach-tomato bread, brain bread and steel-cut oat bread and so many more! In terms of sweet breads, their pumpkin chocolate chip bread and muffins are insanely good, as is the snickerdoodle bread, carrot cake bread and so many more decadent desserts! I love to stock up on their caramel-chocolate bars, chocolate chip cheesecake bars, frosted brownies, cookies, other flavored cookie bars --even amazing homemade granola! They are awesome for brightening someone's day, splitting in half for kids' lunches or a sweet treat on a rainy day. Beehive Bread is even open on Sundays so stop in for a fresh cinnamon roll (plus yeast breads are half off on Sundays). You can also call ahead to order as many loaves as you need --we stock up because the bread freezes so well! A great bakery with lots of options! I really enjoy the local hometown feel. I've never taken home a bread I didn't like. Healthy and hearty. Favorites include Honey Whole Wheat, Sour Dough, Pepperoni, Oat, and 3 Cheese. Caramel Apple and Cinnamon Swirl make a mean french toast. I love all of the muffins. You can't beat the Cinnamon Rolls when they're fresh out of the oven. We gave up on store bought bread after Beehive opened. read more

What a wonderful bakery! Beehive Bakery was one of our first "favorites" when we began living in Ohio last summer. Their team is warm and welcoming, and their breads are delicious and thoughtfully produced. They grind their own wheat for the flour used in the bakery, and they source their wheat from the excellent Wheat Montana. Wheat Montana: a 12,000 acre GMO free, sustainable practices farm in Montana. They certify their wheat as chemical-free, and back up up their claims by testing their wheat after harvest, before cleaning & milling, and milling their own wheat for the flour they sell. I bought a loaf of spinach and sun-dried tomato bread, as well as a pumpkin chocolate chip mini loaf that was on a day olds discount shelf. Both were super delicious! This bakery is great for a spur of the moment pop-in on the way to or from work. It has some parking right on Liberty St. and some as soon as you turn in; you could be in and out in two minutes! The sweet breads are dee-lish, the right size for dessert after a family dinner, and so easily priced. My two teeny wishes would be for slightly longer afternoon hours and more pastry-like options, but they probably do good sales with their hours and pastries just may not be their focus.
