The squash soup is excellent - creamy, tasty and served hot. The bacon roasted brussel sprouts were also excellent. In comparison, the BLT was merely okay. All the ingredients were present, but the bacon lacked BIG bacon flavors that I expect in a BLT. The tomatos were red, limp and tasteless. I will not order again. The dining room is spacious and clean. The service was prompt and attentive, but fell apart when it was time to pay. I was being treated to lunch and did not see the first check that was delivered. It was not itemized; just a $75 total for two BLTs and two soups. Eh? My host paid without noticing. About 10 minutes later the server returned and apologized for giving us the wrong check and promised to refund the $75 and presented a $40 check ... that also was not itemized. I asked for an itemized check ... and he pointed to the UNitemized check that he had just delivered. He simply could not grasp that we wanted a check listing each item and its price. The manager arrived to apologize and could not explain why the UNitemized total amount. We never received a proper itemized check yet were expected to pay based on just a total. I am so proud that this local business is killing it for so long and still being providing top service, at least in my opinion. Every time I come here, I eat something different and it seems that the bar is set pretty high, you can actually tell the managers and owners are fully invested in making this business successful. As always food and ambience is good and I know this should be part of the review, but I've said it so many times that I just wanted to highlight the wonderful job the owners and management are doing for this place. From the moment we entered the service was top notch! Our table for 10 was set and ready when we arrived (we made a reservation), and our server Kyle was there to greet us quickly after being seated. Our drink orders were taken and questions answered. The appetizers were all so good. Bread service was warm and fresh, bruschetta was prepared well and was a good amount of food per order. The pretzel rolls were a big hit as well. Salty but still soft. While relaxing the kids got chilly and Kyle offered them blankets which was a really nice touch. Then came the meal. The kids ordered playbread pizzas (sauce was a little spicy), Mac and cheese (which was devoured), and chicken tenders (good amount for a kids meal!). Adults had the sweet potato pasta (delish! And had a little kick), salmon (which they raved about how flaky and well cooked it way), baked cod (flavorful and prepared well), fried cod (nice and flaky, great batter!), and lemon chicken (chicken was a little dry but overall delicious). Went here with my daughter for dinner . I have been here many times and the food is always good . Jessie the owner does a great job running the place . This time they were very busy so we had to sit at the bar which was fine. Even the bar was busy as it was happy hour . I got the mushroom ravioli which was not only good but a large serving . Enough to take some home for another meal . My daughter had the sweet potato pasta which she really liked . We tried the fried burrata appetizer but didn't care that much for it as the cheese didn't have hardly any flavor to it . Will not order it again . We arrived without a reservation on a Friday around 4pm and were told that they usually expect reservations for parties of 6, so we'll have to remember that for next time. There was a reservation for the 7-top table we were seated at, at 6pm and we were told that might be cutting it too close because they like to allow over 2 hours for a "large" party of six. They seated us anyway, but the vibe was that we needed to understand that we had a limited time. Since we were not having a celebration, we were pretty certain that we wouldn't take two hours to eat. That all seemed super odd to us and we kind of joked with each other about it during the meal. Spoiler alert: we were out in about an hour. I ordered the Shady Legs seasonal specialty cocktail. It had a cucumber soda water and a berry infused vodka and berry simple syrup. It came decorated cute with a flamingo toothpick, but I had to open my own umbrella on it, lol. It was unremarkable and the other person that ordered it agreed. The table shared the Buffalo Cauliflower and Honey Ginger Soy Cauliflower wings. Both were delicious and made just right to not be too raw or too mushy. I and another person got the Sweet Potato Noodles and they were very good and we both agreed we'd order that again. However, we both agreed that we thought it came with actual "noodles" made from sweet potatoes and were not expecting spiralized sweet potatoes. That didn't ruin the meal, because fortunately they were just the right consistency, Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals, but both people wondered the Chickpea Curry said they thought it needed more sauce. Zucchini fries were amazing and I am glad they have a half order... Steak salad I ordered it with hardboiled egg. The hardboiled egg was green/grey so I told the server who told me the chef overcooked all the eggs earlier that morning and that's how he served them all day! Instead of remaking them he must have served them to people like that all day as all the hardboiled eggs for that day were grey or green. Server took it off my bill but yikes. Way over-fried with the meat so tough because they were so overdone. Salmon was done well. Spaghetti squash was perfect. Pizza was underwhelming. Crust was not great. Pretty dry, maybe could have used more sauce. Probably last time for me. We were with a group of 8 people so felt bad saying anything so that's on me but really just wanted to go and enjoy company with friends with good food. Ordered rustic bruschetta and sent it back. It was cut up cherry tomatoes on cold French bread. No sign of fresh mozzarella. There was a small piece the size of half my pinky finger in each piece of bread which again was not recently toasted. Just a bunch of tomatoes. Sent it back. The calzone had no ricotta only a small amount of mozzarella cheese. The dough was dry and tasted like cornmeal. Not like a calzone from Gabby's in Delaware. Let me start by saying our waiter Jacob was really good. Then comes the bad. I ordered ice water and my lady Friend ordered diet cola. As soon as I tasted the water there was something seriously wrong with it so bad I was horrified whatever I drank told the waiter about it and he goes. I'll go behind the bar and get you another glass. Sure enough that glass was fine. Not a big deal at this point. It was my birthday and we were having a nice lunch. I ordered the bruschetta. It was served nice presentation and a delicious appetizer. We know Moore got through two of the four pieces of bruschetta and our entrée was served so we pushed the appetizer aside. That's when the problems really showed their ugly face.. I ordered the rigatoni with buratta and added a protein of steak tips I'm not going to describe how they tasted. You can look at the picture of them all on the side of my bowl of olive oil and take a guess how bad they were. The burrata was covered with the rigatoni and pesto sauce? I uncovered the burrata and took a bite. It was ice cold.. the texture was gross and the flavor was just about as bad. Then comes the next big one look at the picture I'm attaching and it was basically a bowl full of either olive oil or Wesson oil like look at the picture and you'll see what I'm talking about. I basically ate all of the rigatoni, but I had to put two or three pieces on my fork and let them drip to get rid of all the grease on them. The noodle itself was delicious. The steak and the burrata was horrible. I saw the manager cruised by our table and look at my plate at least three times and the waiter came over and he asked how things were and I just said it's OK. I didn't wanna get into a negative conversation on my birthday. All that said he should've said oh I can see what's wrong and the manager was clearing tables to help the weight staff out. She obviously was looking at our plates, but maybe she didn't notice my lady friend had the Rubin. I didn't get a picture of it, but she ate half of it. Dried up meat, barely buttered, or grilled bread she ate half of it and said I don't even wanna take the other half out but I said I would so I did and I tried it the next day. She was right it was horrible. She did like the sweet potato fries all said and done. I've gone by local roots for a long time and when we walked in, we thought it was really cool atmosphere was great service was great but based on what the quality of their food is, I'm one and done and would not recommend it to anybody. read more

We decided to stop here after a long day at the zoo, booking a reservation online was super easy. We were sat immediately and the hostesses were very nice. There was a little basket next to the host stand that had some kids books and dinosaur toys in them. On top of them letting my son bring a couple of books to the table, they dropped off a tin lunch box that had some old happy meal toys, blocks, and little toys in it. This is such a thoughtful touch, I really can't emphasize enough how much I loved how kid-friendly our experience was. Our server, and I wish I could remember his name to praise him specifically, was so attentive and pleasant. He would get down to eye level to talk to my son and was so unbothered when the kids pizza wasn't a hit and we wanted to swap for tenders. A true 10/10 service I got the hot honey pizza, it was kind of hard to eat without making a mess but it was delicious. I ended up eating it with a fork and knife, and the pizza was so substantial that I was full after a single slice. Overall this was a really great dining experience and will probably become my new after zoo tradition. read more

The Lamb Lollipops melt in the mouth, but are unseasoned; try them with the included slightly sweet, with a hint of smoke jam. The salads are excellent, including the Caesar and the Kitchen Sink, try them with grilled chicken. The Caesar has a little bite. Service was excellent; the kitchen is a little slow. The Carrot Cake is very good too, we just wish it was served warm. read more

Nice lunch today on the covered patio! Great, friendly service (shout out to Chuck!) and it was quiet because it was just after 2 pm. Really had hoped for a pick 2 half sandwich, half soup but they only offer it until 2pm (it was 2:12pm) which was a bit disappointing but oh well. We got a BLT with fries (so good - esp the fries!) and a mushroom calzone (huge!) There we're a bunch of wayward bees on the patio, but that's pretty normal for outside this time of year. All in all happy with our lunch and will be back. It wasn't freak-out spectacular, but it was super solid and they are pretty consistently good. My favorite part of Local Roots is the covered patio on a gorgeous day. I'd love to see a few more small plate options on the regular menu that aren't just salads or apps. Stoped in on a Friday night for happy hour with a group of friends for the first time and what a great spot! We sat on the covered patio (very cute though the fans weren't working super great so still warm), and were able to make a reservation in advance so we didn't have to worry about getting a table. The happy hour deal was fantastic and the food was incredible. The fresh tomatoes on the bruschetta were so delicious we all would have ate just those! If I could give 6 stars I would!! This place was by far our favorite in Columbus! So low key, and not impressed with themselves. They have a wide variety of tap beers (heavy on the IPA's, but I'll forgive them that.) I had a flight and fell in love with a red beer (who knew??) I had the Mediterranean Salad with medium rare salmon on top. Oh. My. Goodness!! That had to be one of the tastiest pieces of salmon I've eaten in forever. I ate the leftovers for lunch the next day and it was just as good as the moment it came out of the kitchen! My friend had the salmon dinner which she loved. Not ADA dog friendly nor friendly towards dogs in general for outdoors despite postings. Have ordered catering many times and will never go back or order from again. Totally unprofessional staff that is untrained. Have given them many chances outside this and have failed every time for quality of service and overall lack of professionalism. I live in this town and not a casual passer. No issues anywhere else in town but this one. I've worked in CPG food production for 30 years and good thing I snapped photos of their pest control and sanitation to send to state and local inspectors and will swing by on a regular basis to document on an ongoing basis and thankfully on a first name basis with them. read more

This is a local staple my Wife and I come to when we aren't feeling like cooking. The food is exceptional. Great beer and wine list. I changed it up and got the loaded local burger with the bison burger substituted in, along with sweet potato fries. Service is unmatched. I'm. Another yummy, locally owned place with quality ingredients! We started off with the bread service, which almost smelled like pizza when it arrived at our table. Yum! Upon cutting into it, we realized it had cheese baked inside! Needless to say, we devoured it. For my entrée, I struggled between the Atlantic Cod and Lemon Chicken. My chicken loving self had to get the Lemon Chicken, of course. I'm so glad I did because it was delicious!! The cream sauce and parmesan flakes on the chicken were excellent. And I got two breast pieces?? I was in heaven! The potatoes were seasoned so well and I loved the crunch of the smaller pieces. They gave plenty of asparagus too, which I dipped in the cream sauce because I was *not* letting any of that sauce go to waste. I recommend this dish! I originally ordered the mint chocolate birdie's baked good for dessert, but subbed it for the chocolate chip because they ran out of the mint. Honestly, I wasn't super impressed with the dessert. The gluten free ingredients made it taste like it was lacking something. I'd give it a 3/5. They have several regular dessert options, so I would opt for one of those next time. However, we had to eat inside due to a member of our party being under the age of twenty-one. Which was extremely unfortunate given that the rest of our party already had a table. I just found it confusing since it doesn't entirely make since for it to always be a twenty-one and up area given that this underage individual can not provide ID to even get alcoholic drinks?
