Second time I've been to this place. This time my friend and I split the Moroccan breakfast and the chocolate & pistachio croissant. The breakfast was really tasty, including warm wheat bread, a pot of mint tea, and freshly squeezed orange juice, but the real star was that croissant. Holy cow. It was stuffed with some kind of cream (presumably pistachio) with sweet crunchy bits like butter brickle. The first bite, I lost track of what my friend was talking about because I was so distracted by what was going on in my mouth. Worth a visit! Moroccan cuisine family run bakery/restaurant in an unassuming strip mall setting. Many people had ordered the traditional breakfast with the tea - and I sort of wish I had adventured for that instead of the avocado toast, which was very good! The pastry was awesome and I would definitely get takeaway desserts again. The pistachio signature latte for some reason took one hour to come out, which I didn't mind because I was eating a main course but the whole process took about an hour, which I was not necessarily planning on. Cozy cafe with simple brunch items, pastries and coffee/tea. I've been here a few times now and it's always busy. My favorite lunch item is the mushroom toast. It comes with a light salad and balsamic dressing. The croissants are gigantic and crispy. The mint tea here is very hot- and served traditionally. The nut-creme filled croissants! You *have* to get it! Backing up a bit, on our first visit, we visited for breakfast. The seating is limited and since the larger tables were taken, we had to squeeze in around the smaller round tables near the front. We went for the Maison Skalli and the Beldi breakfasts, with a Quiche for the little one. The former is a traditional "over easy" egg dish cooked on confit meat. I later learned that it is called a "Khlea". It came with a side of hardy rustic bread, and was rich and delicious! I got a few bites of the other and it was hardy spread of various flatbreads served with cream-cheese, olives, and honey. It was good however I would lean towards the Khlea. The breakfasts came with mint tea and they were delicious! I loved the mint tea! I wonder if it was just mint leaves, or if there were other herbs in the hot water. The breakfast dishes were good, however my big hitters are the ones sitting behind the display glass, in the pastry section. The creme filled croissants are far and away the stars that makes me yearn to come back (and we did; I just want to go back for more). The pistachio-creme filled and the chocolate-pistachio ("Dubai"?) croissants were freshly prepared for us on order. There were hefty croissants stuffed to the gills very very generously! The portion size made me happy and the quality of it made me even happier for the outsized serving size! Come for the breakfast, leave with the croissants and cakes, come back for more tomorrow. Located in the corner of a small Shopping center, there is a shared parking lot. There is very limited seating, a couple outdoor tables, and it cannot accommodate more than 2-3 people per table. When I arrived, every table was full. Featuring lots of pistachios, including the MS Signature Coffee, which is rimmed with chocolate and pistachios. Ah-mazing. There are lots of cakes and pastries, I opted for the Dubai Chocolate Pistachio croissant based on a recommendation. Incredibly delicious. Every morsel of food that came out of the kitchen was beautiful and was receiving high marks from the patrons. The staff was very friendly and expressed sadness that I needed to get my items to go, rather than staying and enjoying the atmosphere. I made a reservation three days in advance. It made no difference. 20 minutes waiting at the door with no one acknowledging us when we arrived. No host, no table service, no organization. I ended up ordering at the counter after another 10 minutes waiting for the person in charge to be available. To sit outside (which was part of my reservation), two cooks had to come out and set up a small improvised table right next to the kitchen door. After 30 minutes they brought me an order that wasn't mine, the order number on my receipt didn't even match the one they gave me for the table. The food came in pieces, the silverware was incomplete, and the lemonades I had already paid for were suddenly "out of stock." I asked for a full refund and the response was rude. "We're busy" is not an excuse when you accept reservations days in advance. If you're not prepared to operate on a day like Mother's Day, don't accept reservations. Period. They ruined an important day for my family. Never coming back. read more

When I heard about this place, I couldn't wait to try it out. This is such a cute place. Limited seating so be prepared to wait a while if you want to dine in or to do a take out. It's actually in a strip mall close to my house but I did not even think about trying until seeing the rave reviews and they are well deserved. You order up front and they have a small dine in area where they then bring you your food. They have the most beautiful array of patties and desserts in their case up front. I opted for the Simon crossword which is huge and I think it's their signature latte. The latte almost had a marshmallow foam and the rim was crusted with pistachios. So good! Cute little coffee shop! Came around 3 pm on Saturday and they were busier than expected. There is plenty of parking too! They have some tables indoors and outdoors. Last night at home I was craving a creamy delicious pastry, so I looked on this fabulous app called Yelp to search for bakeries near me. I found a few but then didn't feel like jumping in the car, since I was going to be out this morning anyway. Most were closed anyway. I landed on Maison Skalli which is off Sawmill/161. It took me a couple loops around the shopping area until I found it on a corner and 2 doors down from a tea place. It is a small storefront with a dining area. I checked out the pastry cases while another customer was being waited on at the counter. I really wanted both a Pistachio Croissant and an Almond one. And a mini Strawberry Sponge Cake. I couldn't be greedy. I crossed off the Pistachio. I also ordered a Latte with Pistachio & almond milk. All to go. The staff was so very friendly. I want to go back for a breakfast entree when I have more time. The decor is very pretty as well. So happy to have this now on my radar! read more

Finally, I'm back in town to try this new brunch/ bakery place! It was a nice and cute place with a lot of pastries and cakes on display! We got the Dubai chocolate pistachio croissant, a pistachio croissant, and a plain croissant (just to gauge the standard of their croissant). Croissants are definitely on the pricier side... $5.50 for plain and Dubai chocolate one was $10. Croissants was soft but not buttery enough for my liking. Pistachio ones have pistachio cream in it, which was a nice touch to it. The Dubai chocolate one is probably the best one. But a little hefty for that price. Order their salmon croissant and quiche. Personally, I prefer their salmon croissants more. It's softer and flavorful. There's avocado, cream cheese, smoke salmon, and top off with a poached egg. The tart of the quiche was flaky, which added a rather refreshing twist to the density of the custard. However, it was a little salty and kind of heavy to finish. Overall, it's still a nice little spot. Would definitely come back and try their croffle. Since I didn't see till it's my turn to place an order. I came to check this place out with my mom a couple weeks ago. It was early afternoon, so there were a few people eating breakfast but most seemed to come in just to pick up a couple baked goods. The staff was really patient. Explained the menu options and gave us recommendations. We got the pain suisse, some kind of chocolate croissant, hazelnut cake, and the fraisier (a strawberry dessert). I'm used to the latte having a green hue to it but this iced pistachio latte tastes like a sugary latte without any trace of pistachio. I was so excited to try their Moroccan breakfast! They have two options. The Maison Skalli breakfast comes with a skillet of eggs and khlii, preserved beef that is dried and marinated in oil. The khlii was on the saltier side so it pairs well with their Moroccan bread, which reminded me of whole grain English muffins in terms of the texture. The Beldi breakfast came with a mix of Moroccan crepes (msemmen, which is a square crepe with thin layers, and harcha, a round flatbread), paired with black olives, cream cheese, and honey. The crepes were really interesting in terms of texture since the msemmen had a softer texture of western crepes while the harcha was a bit harder and bready. The flavor of the crepes themselves are on the blander side so it helps to pair it with the other sides. Both breakfast items came with Moroccan tea (atay), which had a strong herb flavor to it and was slightly sweet, as well as their freshly squeezed orange juice, which was very refreshing. I appreciated how the tea and orange juice was not too sweet. Definitely try their baked goods as well! My favorite was their strawberry fraiser cake, which tasted like a soft strawberry cheesecake, as well as the pistachio flat croissant. I'm excited to try their Moroccan cookies next time! The interior is beautifully decorated and had a peaceful ambiance. They have a few tables for indoor seating or you could carry out your baked goods and drinks. It's definitely more of a sit down brunch place more than a study cafe. Since they are still starting out with only a few workers, service was on the slower side for dining in. They offer great variety of pastry and cake nicely line up inside the display case. I did take a second before I went ahead to order, cause everything look super good. Along with a couple pastries, I got the Salmon Croissant and Atay [Moroccan Tea]. I really like the Atay. It is slightly sweet along with some nutty and mint flavor. Having it with the Salmon Croissant is perfect. Slightly toasted croissant spread with cream cheese and topped with smoked wild salmon, guacamole, poached eggs and benedict sauce. All the flavors just bind well together along with that mixed greens. I went in around their opening hours and it got packed very quickly from the start. The owners are very hospitable and were very sweet in explaining the different dishes. Huge plus is that it is all halal. There is not too many tables for sitting inside, so I would say keep smaller groups when coming to dine in. The owner was very kind to put together 3 tables for us to make room for 6 people. There is a large selection of baked sweets from layered cakes to macarons, as well as various type of croissants. I ended up getting the Maison Skalli breakfast, which was $16. This is a wonderful Moroccan style offering. You get tajine that has eggs and khlii (shredded beef with spices) on a sizzline platter along with 2 pieces of dense Moroccan bread. The entree also includes 2 drinks: freshly squeezed orange juice and mint tea. It is very filling and a great way to taste a variety of things. I really enjoyed this dish, the bread was just a but too dense for me and I wish I had a jam sauce or something of a sauce to dip the rest in. The mint tea was very good and had a perfect hint of sweetness to it. It is definitely shareable.
