How had I not been here? I am near it once in awhile, and it is a Columbus icon. Today we had some time to kill and the donut shop down the road was closed for the holidays. Kid K picked the strawberry cake, and I got a scallion bun. Both were very good. There are lots of cakes (and looks like they will make you one to order.) Also cheesecake, a few other sweets. And lots of flavors of Asian buns. Small shop, friendly staff, good prices, good stuff. read more

I stopped in for the first time yesterday after hearing great things. Golden Delight did not disappoint! I needed a last minute birthday cake. I know they are known for their strawberry cake but we went with the mocha. They offered to add a message on the spot! The cake was extremely light with mocha flavor in both the frosting and cake. It was excellent! There are also decorative coffee beans on top- they are chocolate. Highly recommended! read more

I kept seeing this business pop up in conversations about the best cake in Columbus, although I admit that living near Belle's Bread means that I wasn't particularly looking for more cake options. But today, I had a long wait for takeout food in the same strip mall, and decided to walk over. And now I am obsessed with their white chocolate mousse cake, even though I'm not usually a huge fan of chocolate mousse cake. So yeah, good job, random bakery in a strip mall. I will now have to come back for the apparently citywidely famous strawberry cake. read more

A hodgepodge of cakes, pies, cookies, and Asian treats some sweet some savory adorn this place. There's also various drinks that seem not like your normal fare. The items were good but not earth shattering. Good customer service and there was a line out the door of customers so maybe folks in that area have a special place in their heart for this business but I wasn't blown away. It's like a smorgasbord of selections so your can't really go wrong so give em a go if your in the area. read more

Arirang was right next door so we decided to check this place out. It was my first time in there, although my friend had been before. I believe they are Chinese owned? They've got cake slices ! Looked tasty to try for next time. I opted for a red bean bun and a scallion bun. Very delicious and not a bad price at all. Cheaper than Belle's bread. The selection isn't huge, but it's not a problem. A line formed behind me while we waited to pay, so it seems to be popular! read more

Golden Delight is one of the best bakeries in town, a true Columbus favorite, and a go-to in our family for many years. Their classic strawberry cake is an oldie but always a goodie, light, not overly sweet, and absolutely delicious. Also, their Raspberry Chocolate Mousse Cake is a must-try A+++! Great service as always. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth! read more

Bussin. We've been buying baked goods here forever--and for great reasons... First off, the level of sweetness is just right: not overly sweet and rich but not too plain. Second, the overall quality and craftsmanship. The icing is airy and light. The cakes themselves are delicate and baked to perfection. Lastly, value. Pricing remains reasonable so everyone in your family can enjoy. Try starting with their famous strawberry cake and go from there. Enjoy! read more

Home of the famous strawberry cake, which we have enjoyed at many a party, and decided to visit its home. They have a very welcoming bakery with friendly staff and a glass case full of delightful goodies, both sweet and savory. Unfortunately, they were sold out of steam buns when we visited, so we'll definitely be coming back to try those. Fortunately, we are the home of several sweet tooths, so we did not leave empty handed: we opted for a slice of the white chocolate mousse cake (they also have a raspberry which is going to be a future try!) and several of the mini cheesecakes. The desserts were delicious and much enjoyed. There is plentiful parking in the shopping center lot. read more

Golden Delight Bakery - Medium strawberry cake - Bakeries Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

I feel sad and disappointed. Our family has chosen the strawberry kiwi cake as our celebration cake for over 12 years. Yesterday's purchase was pure disappointment. The cream icing we loved tasted artificial and resembled the kind grocery stores use. The center strawberry filling seemed like 1 single strawberry was used for the entire cake. The cake had an odd spongey texture and was not as we have enjoyed in the past. I fear the popularity of this cake has caused the bakery to cut corners to keep up with demand. Sadly we will not be part of that demand in the future. If I am going to have subpar cake I can get it cheaper at Costco or Sam's club, because, sadly, this was the kind of quality it was this time. I can honestly say I feel a bit heartbroken, like I have lost a good friend read more

This bakery is one of my favorites!!! The strawberry cake is legendary and the pandan cake, my favorite, is the best I've ever had!

I have been living in Columbus for more than 7 years and I just found this hidden gem. This little bakery is a small space with a walk up counter where you can place your order. Sadly there aren't any chairs or tables to sit since it is a smaller bakery. The lady behind the counter was quick and efficient. The cake here is excellent, one of my favorite cakes is the strawberry cake. My friend ordered a mocha cake which was perfect to her liking since it wasn't too sweet. They provide a mix of bakery goods including a varity of cake slices, fruit tarts, cream puffs, tiramisu, and cookies. They also include a small selection of savory items. Everything tastes fantastic! The semi sweet cake slices were perfect, with the right light whipped frosting and the fresh strawberries and kiwi. The prices are decent ranging from $2-$5 for the bakery items but you get what you pay for - A delicious slice of cake. They also sell cakes in different sizes! read more

This bakery is perfectly named, because it is delightful. I know they are famous for the strawberry cake, but I am team "Savory" here all the way! The scallion roll and the steam bun are like something dropped down from Heaven onto my plate. Both are soft, pillowy, goodness beyond belief. Full cakes need to be ordered a few days ahead of time. Prices are very reasonable for the quality. read more

Server was pleasant and helpful. Strawberry crème cake was a hit at our function. We have had it several times and does not disappoint.

This seems to be an unspoken favorite bakery of so many people I know. And now I know why! I think I'm correct in assuming it's a Korean bakery, I noticed a lot of Asian staples when I was in there. The famous strawberry cake they sell at Golden Delight is a popular style of cake in a lot of Asian countries. The shop is small, simple, and too the point. Daily options are on display in the case, and there's a cooler with drinks. It's a no fuss kind of bakery; you place your order, get your food with friendly service, and then you leave. This isn't really the kind of place to hang out with a friend over coffee and cake and catch up. I naturally had to order a slice of the fresh strawberry cake and it absolutely lived up to my expectations. The cake was spongy, light, just the right amount of sweet, not at all dry, and delicious. The icing is of the whipped variety, which happens to my favorite. Over all this is a great freaking cake. Especially if you're looking for something that isn't too heavy or sweet. I also got a six pack of the chocolate dipped eclairs for the kids to share. They were most definitely kid approved! read more

I was in the neighborhood of this shop and was so very glad I stopped in. It had been way too long. For years, their strawberry cake has been a Columbus favorite and also one of mine. I ordered a couple slices, which is an awesome offering they have if you don't need a whole cake or are trying to save your pennies. The price is very affordable. The flavor persists to be spot on. Outside of many sweet options, they also have some savory delights, steamed buns! I'm pumped to try those in the near future. The customer service is fantastic as well. The gal couldn't have been any more helpful, cheery, and kind. read more

The Strawberry Cake is our Go To cake for birthdays. Second favorite is the mocha cake.

A great place to pop in for some sweet treats if you are in the area! The strawberry cake is a favorite. I buy it for birthday parties all the time. The sizes are great and people seem to continue to love it.

I basically come here for the Strawberry Cake and I never leave disappointed. These cakes have been my 'bring a desert' go-to for almost every conceivable celebration or social function for work or personal needs for almost ten years. Word of mouth about Golden Delight is relatively buckshot in execution - people either know about it and have for ages or they don't at all. I evangelize it as much as possible myself, but I get the sneaking suspicion some folks keep this one close to the vest and I don't honestly blame them. How often can you get a cake as iconically special as they stuff they put out comparative to, say, something off the rack at Kroger? Everyone here is always super friendly, and they bend over backwards to add messages or answer questions. I honestly can't speak to any of the complaints in that area. You get a feel for what you're walking into the minute you visit this place, and all the time's afterward. Come during normal operating hours. Don't ask for anything too outlandish message wise. Also, if you need something special done, they'll accommodate it wholeheartedly if you give them enough lead time. read more

Golden Delight Bakery - These cakes are the "creme" of the crop. - Bakeries Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

Don't get me wrong: Golden Delight Bakery makes a damn good cake (or at least a damn good fresh strawberry cake). However, an aspect of the store itself made a negative impact on me, as did an aspect of the cake I tried- the aforementioned strawberry cake. While Golden Delight is like other Asian bakeries I've been to around town- small, sparse, and very, very white- one of the first things I noticed when I walked in was the dust. It's not that the whole place was riddled with it, either, it was just that the display cakes on the top of the display case were so dusty as to appear a dark gray bordering on brown. It was kind of filthy and made the model cakes look inedible. To the bakery's credit, the models protected by the case looked very nice and quite impressive. The bakery serves the usual cakes and delights as well as Asian items such as steamed pork buns. As I've said, I tried the fresh strawberry cake. This was a delicious, delicious, delicious cake. The strawberries tasted fresh and the cake was moist and airy. The real knockout punch was the frosting, though, which was more a whipped topping than an icing- much more to my taste than stiff cake icing. However, I had one problem with the strawberry cake. It had kiwis in it- no problem at all in theory, as I love kiwis more than almost any other fruit- but all the slices of kiwi had the rind on. Now maybe the kiwi rind is edible and I'm missing out on something great, but I don't play that. I had to stop and peel every thin slice of kiwi I came across- and if there's one thing I hate while eating, it's chores (which is one reason I don't eat lobster). So, I'm torn on Golden Delight. It's a little dirty and the kiwis were unpeeled. On the other hand, God damn, that was one hell of a cake. read more

As I type my review for Golden Delight, I try to control the amount of drool that weighs down (and cascades off) my lower lip. After all, what's sold here is of the variety back home that my parents get for me on my birthday! This bakery has a modest set-up, but as you can see from the photos that accompany this page, it features an abundance of tasty (and often pastel-colored) Asian goods. Among the goodies on display are small baked buns, steamed buns, sweet toasts, cookies, cream puffs, pudding cakes, cheese cakes, pandan cakes, Filipino rice cakes, and--my favorite--cake rolls! The slices of mocha cake roll that I bought are flavorful but not to excess, and upon my next visit, I will try the green tea cookies and a slice of the signature strawberry cake. Also, I'm so thrilled that I can directly take the #18 COTA bus to the strip mall where this little shop resides! Now, I deduct one star off my rating only because the service was quite slow to accommodate a rapidly growing queue. However, the lone employee present (the owner?) gets tons o' kudos from me for knowing Tagalog; as she explained to me, she is Chinese but was born in the Philippines. :-) Xie xie, and mabuhay! read more

Golden Delight Bakery - I ended up buying two of these mocha cake slices. :-D - Bakeries Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

This is hands down the best cake place in Columbus. We always get the fresh strawberry cake for birthdays every year. It's topped with strawberries and kiwis, and filled with strawberries too. Out of the dozens of cakes I've had, they've never disappointed. Their strawberries are always really high quality, and their cakes are nice, light, and fluffy. They also have always had really good customer service. One time my mom went there a little after they closed, and the owner opened the shop for her to get a cake! read more

The "Fresh Strawberry Cake" is a favorite of a co-worker so I ordered one from here on a Wednesday for a Friday pick-up. She confirmed twice that I wanted to pick-up from the Bethel location and wasn't trying to reach the Gahanna location. The quarter sheetcake feeds 12 - 15 (or 20 if small pieces) and is $27. When I arrived at the bakery I found out there are round versions (10 inches on down) for less. You can even buy individual slices. The cake was delicous! My co-worker is diabetic and the lack of buttercream frosting makes it much friendlier on his diet. I don't know if it's whipped cream with sugar but it doesn't slide off the cake after it warms up. They have a coupon in the Entertainment Book each year and they have a punch card for being a frequent cake buyer. read more

Rude rude rude owner. The worst customer service I have ever experienced. The lady was rude the moment we walked in and not willing to help. She kept cutting me off when I asked a question and said NO WE CAN'T DO THAT before I even finished my question and when I want to finish my question she would say I ALREADY TOLD YOU WE CAN'T DO THAT. I was only asking her if we could add more frosting on the cake. What bothers me is how rudeee she was not because they couldn't do what I asked for. Please don't support business like this. Their cake is average Asian cake. Please go to other asian bakery like Belle's bread. read more
