Great sushi! A little loud since all the booths are near each other but we didn't really mind. The sushi quality was pretty good for AYCE but it wasn't anything that was too special or anything. We didn't go in super hungry but we did order a good amount with variety! The stir fried udon was a bit overcooked and sticky/slimy. I also had to add soy sauce since it didn't have much flavor. Rolls were typical and they were smaller rolls which we liked since it gave us the opportunity to try different ones! I would not recommend the hand rolls (we got the California handroll and it was a whole entire imitation crab stick inside). Minus these few, everything else was mostly pretty good for AYCE and I would probably be back if in the area!

I was absolutely blown away by this place. The decor is nice and inviting with a modern Asian ambiance. The service was great! Ordering is super simple. Thankfully we didn't need pictures because my party is very familiar with sushi. As for the food, I was impressed, both by the taste AND the price. $29.99/person, which includes unlimited sashimi, absolutely worth it. They didn't skimp on the size of the sashimi either. The only sad part for me was that they didn't have green tea ice cream, but I still very much recommend this place if you want sushi. Also, the white tuna sashimi, not every place has it, so would recommend this very much

Very affordable AYCE sushi for only $18.99 during lunch hour which even includes ice cream. It's obviously not the best sushi but you can try a large variety which is nice. I liked the salmon and white tuna nigiri's the best. Also tried some rolls and they were fine. The onion tempura was greasy. Service was very friendly and prompt.

I haven't paid $18.99 for all you can eat sushi for over 10 years, so that alone gives Sakura Sushi an automatic 5 stars. With this in mind, there's really nothing to complain about because the value exceeds everything else. We came here on a Monday afternoon and got the lunch AYCE special. There were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant and 3 sushi chefs in the kitchen, more in the back. The service could have been faster, but again, at this price it's really hard to say anything negative about it. The lunch menu is much smaller than their dinner menu. We went here for dinner on a Friday evening and it wasn't too packed but I can't remember the cost, possibly $30 or less per person. The usual suspects include: - agedashi tofu - vegetable tempura - shrimp tempura - miso soup - salmon nigiri - freshwater eel nigiri (dinner only) - yellowtail nigiri - white tuna nigiri - rainbow roll - green tea ice cream If you really want eel for lunch, they have it in a standard roll. I also recommend the cream cheese wonton! One thing I love about this location is that you order the appetizers and nigiri per piece. That way, you don't feel guilty about wasting any food because you set the amount yourself. The fish to rice ratio could be better. I'd consider it to be standard but obviously they need to make money somehow so again, no complaints here. It's hard to find good reliable sushi spots and this is easily my top AYCE sushi restaurant in Phoenix. (27/100--2024)

Sister site to the one in Gilbert and both serve an affordable and tasty AYCE sushi experience. I went for their $19.99 AYCE lunch and I find the variety to be sufficient. The service here was insanely fast. We placed our order via paper slips and received our food within a few minutes. The fish was cut thickly but the ratio of rice about 2:1. While the rice texture was pleasant, I would have liked it to be seasoned better. *Miso Soup: hot, salty, and simple. My bowl did not contain seaweed or tofu. *Seaweed Salad: sweet and chewy. The single serving was enough to last me the entire meal. *Yellowtail: my favorite piece. This was tender and fatty without being fishy. *Salmon: not the fattiness salmon I've tried but still tasty. Our first round of salmon was noticeably cut thicker than the second. The thicker cut was preferred given the amount of rice given. *Spicy Salmon: would not order this again as the salmon wasn't minced properly. The mixture needed to be more fine so then it could mix with the Sriracha better. Overall, this was a poor take on the classic spicy tuna. *Tuna: sweet and lean but not fishy. Nicely soft too. *Tamago: on the sweeter side and I would have preferred some greater density to the egg. Doubling the thickness would make it equivalent to the standard size of what I usually have in other restaurants. *Ice Cream: grocery store quality and not freezer burnt. Not extraordinary but I like having a dessert option included. Still the best lunch value AYCE sushi in Arizona. The seafood quality isn't mind blowing but it definitely surpasses the under $20 price tag. The service is especially fast and friendly here so I prefer this location over the one in Mesa.

Waiting on my food. Good stuff.

Don't be a Samantha (apparently that's the next level up from a See You Next Tuesday Karen). I JUST ate here. Left 20 minutes ago. Myself and my sister both used the restrooms. Samantha/Karen is full of ... fecal matter. Don't know WHY she's hating on this place...just being a Karen apparently. Restrooms were spotless. The restaurant was spotless. On our way out, the servers were wiping down the wood divider walls. Food was pretty solid! Great rolls, good nigiri, good seaweed salad. And terrific service. Parents tell your kids: don't be a Samantha. No reason to be a shitty, bitter troll.

Sakura Sushi - A Rollin' Good Time! When my usual sushi spot ghosted me, I rolled the dice on Sakura Sushi--and hit the jackpot! $30 all-you-can-eat for two hours kept my chopsticks busy and my tastebuds dancing. The sushi was fresh, the tempura crisp, and the udon a cozy hug in a bowl. But let's spill the tea... the iced tea here SLAPS. Cold, crisp, and perfect for washing down spicy tuna and tempura dreams. It's my sushi sidekick--and worth the rave. And don't even get me started on the wasabi. So good it'll make you cry--that fiery, flavor-packed burn everyone loves and hates at the same time. Honestly, it's better than Red Bull for waking you up! Service was speedy and sweet, plates disappeared like magic, and the vibe was chill enough for solo dining or a sushi squad. Sakura Sushi? I'm soy into you.

We got seated right away and I loved that they put a party of 2 in a pretty big booth. I love the big red water cups. Some food came fast, and others were forgotten (twice we had to remind). Specialty rolls are pretty filling and come with 8 pieces. Lots of specialty roll options. One of the nicer ambiances for an all you can eat sushi. About $31 a person for dinner. We came @5pm and it wasn't busy but when we left it was. I'm kinda over all you can eat sushi places, nothing special but the ice creams were the best part lowkey.

Great place for AYCE sushi. The price is right as are all of the items that are available. Food comes out pretty quickly and everthing was great.

Eel & avocado hand roll (pretty good) and New York roll (not that good, topping if real mushy and filling is too spicy)
Joyce W.

Pretty good for an ayce. If you eat the same rolls over and over you will start to feel like they are tasting the same, but a few of them were actually quite good to start with. Salmon avocado roll, rainbow roll (really delicious and just the right amount of rice with generous amounts of fish inside and on top), shrimp tempura roll (freshly fried shrimp, but kind of non descript), and Out of Control roll (very delicious and very generous fish filling, not too spicy even for my kids) Eel & avocado hand roll (pretty good) and New York roll (not that good, topping if real mushy and filling is too spicy) Eggplant tempura, yakitori tasty but over burnt, onion rings were good, freshly fried. Green tea ice cream, tasty but not very flavorful, creamy, but kind of bland. Need more dessert choices like fried donut holes or the fried bananas or something more Japanese Overall, pretty good choices, but wish they didn't take away the sashimi and some of the previously available choices and rolls.

California hand roll, spicy crab

This place has always tasted great. I've been here several times and the food and service has been great. You can sit at the counter or in a booth and every time it's been great.

We went here for a family dinner together. Our service was quick, our server did a great job at getting the food out pretty quickly and the other staff did a great job making sure dishes were cleaned off the tables in a timely manner. There were six of us at our table and the place was packed, there was only one time they forgot to bring an order that was put in for the all you can eat thing otherwise we were happy with the service. The food was good, I really enjoyed everything I received except for one item & that was only because the menu didn't describe what was in one of the rolls and I didn't realize an ingredient I didn't like was in it. We all ordered different foods & everything was cooked to the right temp and was delicious. We would be happy to come back again in the future. The restaurant was clean & comfortable.

The interior was trendy, with wood floors and walls, industrial ceiling and top 40 music playing. I ordered the Spicy Tuna Tempura Roll, the Sunshine Roll and an iced tea. In all, it came to $28.72 plus tip. The tea was rather large, which was refreshing for today's restaurants. My lunch arrived in about 15 mins, mostly because a table for four sat down right before me and they were rather needy. The sunshine roll was different than any other sunshine roll I'd had. Their menu descriptions were rather minimal but I was expecting lemon and got masego (roe). It was okay but not what whetted my appetite The tuna roll was a vey pleasant surprise though. I assumed the shrimp tempura would be the only fried aspect but the entire roll was fried after assembly. Very good balance of savory to saucy, heat to cool and soft to crunchy. I'd order that roll again. I'll come back, next time I'm in the area.

I may not be able to eat sushi anywhere else after this!…read more I came for the Restaurant Week lunch deal and am so glad I finally made it here. Everything from service to ambiance to food was excellent. And I love that they brought lunch service back to this location! Friday, Saturday, Sunday only and still make a reservation! It was busy! I wanted something fun to drink but non-alcoholic, so the bartender stopped by to help me decide. I got the Miso Sour and it was so good! This had a nice balance of flavors. I started with the Hamachi Crudo which has grapefruit ponzu, lemon mayo, Serrano pepper, and thin cucumber slices. This was so good! Refreshing with just the right amount of spice. Next I enjoyed chopped salad and miso. The salad was very fresh and had a variety of goodies including edamame, purple cabbage, and avocado. The miso is so good!! It was delicate and yet so flavorful. I chose the Yuzu tuna roll option which has spicy tuna and avocado inside, with big eye tuna on top, garnished with micro cilantro, red onion, and yuzu. This was so good! I also thought their ginger stood out - I would bet they make this in house. I can see why this always has such great reviews!

My boyfriend and I came to Shimogamo for Mother's Day and ordered the five-course meal. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing compared to our previous visit. The biggest issue was the service. Our waitress, an older woman, came across as dismissive and unnecessarily rude throughout the evening. When we were seated, she offered complimentary rosé. I accepted a glass, but my boyfriend does not drink alcohol, so he politely asked if he could order a mocktail instead. Before he could even finish, she abruptly responded, "No, you can wait to place an order for that," as if he was trying to substitute the complimentary drink, which he was not. He was simply trying to order a beverage. Later, when the braised beef course was served, my boyfriend politely asked if he could have a spoon or fork. The waitress loudly repeated "A SPOON?" in a mocking tone in front of nearby guests, which made the interaction uncomfortable and embarrassing. As for the food, the five-course menu was average at best and far below what we expected from Shimogamo. The salmon tartare and sushi course were both excellent and showed the quality we remembered from our first visit. However, the remaining courses fell flat. The fried branzino was dry and seemed poorly prepared, despite the promising flavors of capers and cream sauce. The braised short rib felt completely out of place on the menu and lacked refinement it was dry, heavy, and more reminiscent of a chain steakhouse meal than an upscale dining experience. The entire dinner also felt rushed, with little attention to pacing or hospitality. What makes this especially disappointing is that we dined here back in November on a double date and had an incredible experience. We spent over $600 that evening, and the service and food were exceptional. Our waitress at that time was knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu. She guided us through recommendations, and every dish impressed us. That's why this visit was so surprising. Shimogamo clearly has the ability to provide an outstanding dining experience, which makes the decline in both service and execution even more concerning. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because this restaurant was once one of our favorites.

The restaurant was clean and empty, thank goodness, lol! I stopped in for a quick Happy Hour since I was in the area. I took a seat at the bar and Andrew provided exceptional service. He was friendly but not overly chatty, and attentive. He answered my questions regarding some of the menu items and I ended up ordering the Yellowtail Nigiri, Wagyu Sliders, and the Salmon Avocado Sashimi. It was the perfect amount of food and although they tasted great, the presentation left a bit to be desired. The Nigiri was served on a plate bigger than was necessary. I did like the size of the Yellowtail on them because they were pretty BIG!! I don't think they use sushi rice because it wasn't as sticky like Nishiki rice. The Sashimi was served on the same sized plate as the Nigiri. The salmon was fresh and so were the avocado slices, but they were just sitting on top of soy sauce. I ate it all, of course, but I would have liked to see maybe a drizzle of the sauce on the plate and ohhhh idk... maybe some furikake sprinkled on top? It just looked plain, but I'm glad it was fresh and tasted good. The Sliders were so cute, and had great flavor, but the inside of one looked slightly undone. It was pretty pink and almost looked raw. Again, they tasted fine and I have an iron stomach so I'm not too worried about it. Just seeing the "pinkness" kind of freaked me out, though. I told Andrew that if I get sick, I'll know why!! lol Overall, the experience wasn't bad. They were not busy at all, maybe just 4 other parties sitting in random sections including the outdoor patio. Their patio is a pretty good size, too. It's a solid 5 stars for Andrew, but the restaurant gets a 4. Things to note: Happy Hour is ALL DAY Monday 3 to 6 pm & 9 pm to close Tuesday to Saturday 3 pm to close on Sunday Also, the restroom (at least the women's) has only 3 stalls, one of which is accessible. In the other two stalls, the toilets are WAY LOW to the ground. I'm talking crouch down like it's perfect for a 3 or 4 year old who's potty training! Prices aren't bad, and the ambiance is perfect for a date because it's dimly lit. The bar has a good selection of alcoholics, and they also offer mocktails. When I walked into the Ahwatukee location, I was honestly shocked. For a brand that's known for fun, date night energy and premium sushi prices, the atmosphere just didn't live up. The place looked tired, and it didn't have the same lively vibe I remembered. After being seated outside, it took almost 10 minutes for our server to come by just to get drink orders. By that point, we already knew what we wanted two cocktails each, five rolls, and three appetizers. Unfortunately, after placing our order, it felt like we'd been forgotten. Almost 30 minutes passed before a different server checked on us, and the food didn't arrive until nearly 50 minutes after we sat down. That's the longest I've ever waited for sushi. We thought about ordering another round of drinks, but our server had completely disappeared. Meanwhile, what looked like the manager was just standing behind the bar doing nothing, and it turns out our server was covering the entire restaurant alone. That explained a lot including why so many outdoor tables were covered in old, dirty dishes with birds picking at them. It's disappointing, because I used to love RA Sushi and their upbeat, social atmosphere. I truly hope RA corporate takes this as feedback to make sure their remaining teams get the help and support they need. This experience didn't just feel understaffed it felt neglected.
