It was decent food but they definitely need updates to what reflects on their website for images of the items ordered. Gyoza were full fried vs a pan fry/steam that reflects on the website ordering images. The filling wasn't seasoned sufficiently compared to most places I've tried out. They also came with a plum sauce vs a dumpling/gyoza sauce, which was a let down because the gyoza could've really used it for flavor. The avocado roll is pictured on site to reflect with salmon and masago. The only reason I ordered that particular selection was because I was looking for those combinations. The ordering page also doesn't display with descriptions for the non-specialty rolls, so ensuring accuracy of ordered items can have a gap. I can't effectively measure how good the sushi is because of not being able to measure the fish quality. I'd pass on the gyoza though, if you're looking for a nice pan fry/steam. read more

My family and I have gone to this restaurant twice now. The atmosphere and decorations are very creative, clearly showcasing its Japanese roots. We have sat in the private rooms both times (you have to take off your shoes). The food was delicious as well! We got the sushi boat which was loaded with sushi for all of us to share. I also got a chicken tonkatsu ramen (the chicken was sooo good). The woman who served us was super sweet as well. Overall great experience for our family! read more

It's a great AYCE sushi restaurant in Phoenix! The best part about this place is the extensive menu, but also the fact that you can order sashimi, meaning you can honestly eat your moneys worth easily! They also do a variety of tempura which you can also order piece by piece, so no more vegetable tempura plates where you get stuck with some good ones and some bad ! I do however admit that in terms of cuts for the sashimi it can be very inconsistent, but for an AYCE restaurant and how quickly the service tends to be, you can't really complain. I've come on multiple occasions some of which service is quicker than others, and sometimes because it is so busy I have had my waiters/waitresses forget certain items that we have ordered. Despite that I think it's a great place to come eat! Sakura is my favorite AYCE sushi spot around. ~$25 for AYCE and you get a solid selection of sushi. They have nigiri, SASHIMI(!!!), and a handfull of rolls/specialty rolls. But what about if you have somebody in your party that doesn't like sushi? No worries! They have different options for them too. You can order tempura, gyoza (pot stickers), soups, teriyaki chicken, or teriyaki beef. One thing to get used of when you order here is that everything you order comes as a single! With most sushi restaurants one order of nigiri will give you 2 pieces, but here, if you place one order of nigiri it will be 1 piece. Overall the sushi quality is typically pretty solid! You may get some cuts of sushi that aren't as thick or as nicely cut as the others, but overall, I'd say about 80% of the sushi that you order will be perfect. The flavor here is great, and the freshness of the sushi is pretty darn good for being in Arizona. If you're going to eat sushi, you better get your money's worth--so you should definitely come to Sakura and you won't be disappointed. read more

Came for AYCE dinner. We called ahead and reserved a table. We got seated right away when we arrived. Their AYCE is at a good price. Young kids was $6.99. They have good selections including sashimi in the menu. The fish tasted good. Some does taste like it is just being defrosted. I don't like the sticky floor. I visited the restaurant with my partner for Valentine's Day, and it's not surprising that the restaurant was busy. We were able to get seated almost immediately, lucky for us as the restaurant became even busier after we got our drinks. We got several appetizers (gyoza, shrimp tempura, eggplant tempura), nigiri, sashimi, chicken fried rice, vegetable fried rice, beef fried udon, and chicken soba. Good selections house special rolls as well, we mostly ordered nigiri and sashimi. We tried "Sexy on the Beach" roll, deep fried, it was mostly okay, could only really taste the cream cheese. They missed a few of our new orders but we didn't mind because we understood that it was busy. We got some butter pecan ice cream at the end. Big sashimi girl. Love to try all the different sushi spots but this was not it. I thought everything was fine till after the next morning . I just saw a post about food poisoning from 1 month ago that spoke up about it, I wish I saw it sooner. One weird thing was that on my last plate of sashimi, it felt a little frozen. This was the first time I've got food poisoning. The pain in my stomach got worse and I was trying not to throw up all night and just went to sleep. Woke up in the middle of the night cold sweat and threw up then threw up in the morning again. Except the pain got worse and i could barely eat. It wasn't just me, we had a party of 4. Almost all rolls where the same except one variation or two in a roll. The menu states all over it we accommodate dietary restrictions and they don't. The ambiance was relaxing and our server was very attentive. She stopped by the table several times to ensure we didn't need anything else. This was a true all you can eat place but with better quality sushi than the traditional all you can eat places. AYCE Sushi --- I do it for the gainz! #Brotein Okurrr! We stopped in around noon on Friday for some lunch. Our mercury levels were low and fish was on the agenda. We were actually suppose to be in Vegas last weekend but plans changed so AYCE sushi in Arizona it is! The price is ridiculously cheap. I think it was about $13.50 per person for AYCE lunch but the selection was mediocre. They did have items like udon, soba, fried rice, a wide array of tempura, and appetizers but for sushi, it lacked luster. The nigiri menu is small but they do offer a lot of rolls. You can also get hand rolls here too which is a plus. The actual size of the rolls are smaller and more manageable but the nigiri had too much rice for such a thin inconsistent cut of fish, I wouldn't recommend it. Plus the fish wasn't that fresh. I've never seen Yellowtail so brown. Service is really fast though and pretty friendly. It's a huge restaurant and at $13.50 for AYCE lunch, you get what you pay for. Don't go in with high expectations and you won't be too disappointed. As for me, I think this is a one-and-done. Sushi is not like eyeliner. You can't just wing it! read more

Gave this place a try for lunch and while I will say it's a great deal at around $18 for all you can eat, the quality and overall flavor of the dishes was not very good. A lot of the fish didn't taste very fresh and the beef in the fried rice tasted somewhat frost burn or something funky. Some of the fried appetizers were pretty tasty but the far majority I'd sushi and fish options were just a little off putting. Best AYCE I've had so far in Phoenix. Miso soup is good and the sashimi slices are pretty big. Salmon roe has been a little hit or miss but the rolls and sashimi are good. My favorite rolls are the Gold Roll and Out of Control Roll. Ice cream is also AYCE and it's good. The cheese wontons are surprisingly good and so are the pork and chicken cutlets. I wish the menu had takoyaki though. Service was good and they got our food out pretty quickly. They don't allow half-rolls though. The rolls are good too but I don't recommend the beef udon. It was half vegetables, and the beef was really small and tough. The broth was pretty light. read more

We have driven by this location on numerous occasions, and felt adventurous. I always have to worry at sushi restaurants as I have a shellfish allergy and sometimes communication can be a challenge. Advertised as all you can eat, their lunch is $13.95. I appreciate that all orders are made to order, not a buffet. They do warn you that if you order more than you can eat, they will charge you extra. So start small, and order more when you are ready. They leave you ordering sheets, and it allows you to be very specific. For example, 1 piece of broccoli tempura and 1 hand rolled sushi. We started with several pieces of tempura, which were crispy and not oily. We tried the Las Vegas roll, which came with 6 pieces - salmon, cream cheese and avocado, deep fried. It was very good. We tried both a noodle dish and fried rice. Both are served in individual dishes, but enough to share for 2. We also tried their salmon teriyaki- a small piece of fish with sauce poured over. There was a good variety of sushi options and appetizers. Miso soup was available - we would have liked either egg drop or hot and sour better. I like that dessert is included. It is such a good deal for lunch and you get a variety of appetizers and dishes to choose from. RED FLAG: when you taste the sushi it should NOT be WARM................... every single one of our dishes that was prepared came out warm which if you know anything about the "danger zone" temperature of food- this is extremely dicey, especially for raw seafood. I am a BIG fan of All You Can Eat challenge and this met my ravenous appetite. I came out winning and scoring the best dinner meal for my post workout. Situated next to one of the few Ahwatukee bars, you might end up parking far, probably the Safeway parking lot. You'll thank yourself for doing so after the food you devour. Dinner was an affordable price of $21.99 and all you can eat off the menu. I naturally went nuts over the appetizers, sushi selection and dessert choices. I didn't have enough room for the odon noddles dishes or the stir fry. If you buy beer, you get one free and that's pretty good at $8. It's the large size and love that they carry Asahi. Appetizers are sized for sampling but you can order a lot more as I did. The gyozas were nice and crunchy just like the assorted tempura. Loved the butternut squash and eggplant. The fried spicy tuna roll will not disappoint. Seaweed salad was as expected. The sushi selection is incredible and so generous. I had several sashimi and both the Sexy Roll and Fire Dragon Roll. To finish my feat, I had the green tea ice cream and fried bananas, a honey one and chocolate drizzled one. Staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. Come here if you don't skip dessert or food for that matter. Definitely a perfect post workout reward for you and your wallet. read more

The thing I don't like about this place is they never know who order what. We would mark it on the list (and even added our name when we didn't even have too). They would bring out 1-2 item each time and would always ask "who order this?"its a guessing game cause one or all of your party may ordered it. They also mess up the order by giving a random item or miss one or two things you ordered. Our first time was decent-- but this time only 3 months out, the price increased by $2 and service was eh. Menu also reduced. They even charged $9 for a 4 year old who only took a bite from the noodle. We told her the noodle wasn't good. She didn't say or tried to fix it. Disappointed, we're not going here anymore. Prologue: My fiancée and I have been fans of Akita Sushi in Scottsdale for quite awhile (see our review from 11/21/16). However, we recently discovered this restaurant, which is just as good and is a lot closer to home. The Plot: One of the best parts about all-you can eat is that you get to try lots of different items. We've tried several AYCE sushi restaurants in our area and this is certainly above average with regard to the variety of items on the menu. Our meal began with sharing sever of our favorite starters, including Seaweed Salad, Salmon Teriyaki, Fried Scallops, and Seafood Udon. Following that was some sashimi, including Mackerel, Yellow Tail, Salmon, Tuna, and Red Snapper. Our Nigiri selections included Salmon, Tuna, Yellow Tail, Mackerel, Wasabi Tako, Tobiko, and Ikura. The Maki rolls we tried included Tuna Mango (one of my top favorites), Shrimp Tempura, and the Sakura Roll. We wrapped things up with a taste of each of the desserts, which included Green Tea Ice Cream, Vanilla Ice Cream, and Fried Bananas (which went very well with Vanilla Ice Cream),. The Scene: We both agreed that the number and variety of menu items exceeded any of our previous experiences at this type of restaurant in southern Arizona. Overall, the quality of the food was 3 stars and consistent with, and in some cases better than, what you would expect from an all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. The appetizer highlights for us were the Seaweed Salad, which was a good as we've had anywhere, the Salmon Teriyaki, which was very tasty, properly cooked, with good salmon flavor and not too and much teriyaki flavor. The quality of the Nigiri was all as good as one would expect in this setting, we were pleased with the portion sizes, and the Wasabi Tako is now one of our new favorites. We truly enjoyed all of the Maki rolls, especially the Tuna Mango roll, which has a nice balance of sweet along with the flavor of the sea. The Rest of the Story: We thought it was noteworthy that all of the rolls can be ordered either as Maki or Temaki and all of the noodle dishes can be ordered either as Udon or Soba. Over the several courses we ordered I noticed that the quality of the rice varied. Sometimes it was warm with a nice texture and proper seasoning and at others it was a little cold, a little chewy, and consequently had less flavor. Epilogue: The main ingredient that raised our review from 3 to 4 stars was the price.
