While the chicken was juicy and a beautiful color, it was surprisingly Blanddd. They accommodated my request for truffle fries with ease. We had high expectations for Saint & Second, but the food did not live up to the price point. We ordered the calamari, fish and chips, lobster risotto, halibut, and pork chop. The fish and chips were extremely soggy with a thick, pancake-like batter, and the fries were soggy as well. None of us found it edible and we did not want to take it to-go. The lobster risotto was lackluster. While it came with a generous amount of lobster, the rice lacked flavor and had a mushy texture. The pickled enoki mushrooms added an unnecessary acidity. The halibut was okay, though the white sauce was not a hit. The pork chop came out overcooked. When the manager asked for feedback, we were honest, but the response felt defensive. We did not want our food remade. We simply expect better quality from an upscale restaurant with $40 to $50 entrees. Lily, our waitress, was wonderful. We went to this lovely and lively restaurant on a Thursday night and the atmosphere was electric. You definitely need reservations. Our server Haley was attentive and friendly. A real joy. For starters they have a charcuterie selection and I absolutely loved the duck pate. It comes with grilled sourdough bread and tasty jam. We also had a goat cheese. It was divine. Our friends ordered a specialty drink with lavender and bourbon and said they would come back "Just for the cocktail" as it was interesting and so good. The wine sommelier, I did not get her name, was fantastic. She was knowledgeable, friendly and very helpful. She suggested a bottle for my friends and her descriptions of the wines were unusual and original. Her choice was spot on. What an added delight to have her in the restaurant. Our entrees of mushroom, truffle pasta, grilled salmon and fish and chips were each perfectly prepared, tasty and a nice size portion. We came here for dinner without a reservation a week ago after waiting for about 15 minutes we were set near the bar. The noise level was loud, busy night. The food was good. My Onion Soup with freshly baked bread was yummy. The Pasta with Meat was a hit at our table. Although there are various options for seatings, including bar seating and indoor dining. I came here mostly for drinks during social hour, however did order the Calamari to snack on. This Calamari is different from other ones I've tried, as it has chorizo that adds a slightly spicy and smokey flavor to the Aoili. The only downside is that it was on the smaller side and the portion was a smaller than expected. I didn't get to try other items, but there were many that sounded unique and delicious. My wife and I came for lunch, which was probably smart, because this place is great. Sierra was on the ball, water glass never fully empty, always there as soon as we'd look away from each other. We were lucky and got parking right out the front door. Wonderful industrial decor makes this one of a kind. The lunch crowd is interesting. People in very expensive suits talking about making the switch from business facing to customer facing. Laptop out working lunch. People like us in shorts and sandals. The whole spectrum. The food and drinks are why you come. We opted for the meatballs app and lamb Reuben. Wife does not like lamb and I am not a meatball fan. We took one bite of the other's dish and opted to share. I didn't know you could make pastrami out of lamb, but here we are. It's still clearly lamb, but you have to look for it. It didn't have that gut bomb quality of regular pastrami. Picking up the sandwich takes a sec, because it's so juicy it drips for a while, and now I have a spot on my shirt. A worthy souvenir to a memorable lunch. I got it with the side salad, expecting wilted lettuce and carrot straws. I got a crisp medley of tasty greens packed with little good bits of cucumber and tomato, with a dressing they should bottle and sell. The meatball dish was like the best parts of pasta. Juicy and packed with flavor. I'd have picked up the bowl to lick it had Sierra been less on the ball. The dollop of ricotta in the middle means each bite was different and spectacular in its own way. Even the bread that comes with it was worth note. Flavorful and toasted to perfection. My only gripe is they wouldn't tell me the recipe for the cocktail I got. It's the mezcal based apple one, I can't recall the name. It's tastes like eating the perfect apple near a campfire. Came to this place across from Nicks on Second and I always feel that if you're across from Nicks you better bring your A game. And Saint and Second definitely did that! I forgot to take a photo of their calamari but my family and I enjoyed that with the crab cakes added an extra one for 4 of them definitely was worth it. While enjoying the antojitos we had a red wine bottle for ($48) not too bad and then enjoyed our Steak frites with medium steak so delicious with the pepper sauce! And then fish and chips with the Asian salad oooof I'd definitely come back for it the ambiance in here is very nice with dim lighting and upstairs is open seating with a bar. We had a end of the year ladies brunch, and the atmosphere is beautiful. We were taken care of by C. - she was patient, full of great information and wonderful recommendations. Between the eight of us, we had everything from 100 layer lasagna, fish and chips, super food salad, Caesar salad with salmon and avocado toast. All of the dishes were made to order, healthy portions, and served hot. A few of us finished our meal with the handmade apple pie. Super yummy. Great Food, But Please Fix the Temperature! We've been a regular here because the food is consistently excellent. The meatballs and calamari are always my go-to appetizers - they never disappoint. The Asian chicken salad (with blackened chicken) is absolutely delicious and one of my favorites on the menu. However, I have to mention a significant issue that's been affecting my recent visits. The last few times I've dined here, especially on cold evenings, the restaurant has been uncomfortably cold inside. It actually feels like the air conditioning is running when it shouldn't be. While I appreciate that the manager has tried to adjust the temperature, it remains freezing inside despite their efforts. The food keeps me coming back, but the frigid dining room is making it hard to enjoy the meal. If this temperature issue isn't resolved, I worry you'll start losing loyal customers like me. Please look into your HVAC system - there may be something wrong beyond just the thermostat settings. I really do love this place and want to keep coming back, but dining in a coat including a beanie isn't the experience anyone wants! read more

For that price, I expected something memorable, but the skirt steak was incredibly tough and almost impossible to eat. The eggs were overcooked, the toast was dry and hard, and while the sauce was okay, it couldn't save the dish. It looked great on the plate, but the flavor and texture fell way short. The French toast was equally disappointing--just plain toast without the crisp or richness you'd expect, though the sauce that came with it was decent. Came here on a whim when the restaurant diagonally across the street had a 2 hour wait! This place looked busy for a Saturday night, but we took our chances. Our choices were 45 minute wait, or bar or lounge now. We went upstairs to the lounge / bar and snagged the last small table. It was perfect! We had a very enjoyable meal here last night on a Friday. Arrived around 5:30 and there was plenty of spots at the bar. We brought our own wine (corkage fee is $25) and they offered to decant it. We started with the Gochujang glazed pork belly ($19) - the pork portion was tiny but tasted close to what a Korean restaurant would taste like Shakshuka ($18) - a strange take with chickpeas in it that threw off the texture and the taste was a bit bland. Also, they put the salad ON TOP OF the shakshouka so it would get hot and wilt immediately- what the heck? Gross. Smoked tri-tip hash ($21) - overwhelmingly filled with potatoes and just a few pieces of tri-tip (which was luckily well cooked) with a few shriveled pieces of broccolini scattered inside (weird choice). I thought the broccolini would be a side dish. Also the eggs were over-poached. It was a bizarre mishmash of food I would not recommend. I couldn't even finish the dish. Soft scrambled eggs with black truffle ($18) - decent but a smallish portion and the salad was a bit wilted. Luckily the waitress we had was wonderful and accommodating and took some nice pictures of us as we were celebrating a special occasion. The ambiance was nice sitting in the front patio section. Ok so I never get to go to brunch on Sundays because I teach from 9am - 2pm. So when I had my first free Sunday in 6 years, I went right to Saint n second. And it was the best. We sat on the patio downstairs - perfect temps and spot to people watch. We drank our coffee slow. And ordered slow. And just enjoyed second street. The food is always good here. The staff here has always been the best. Friendly and know just when to be chatty and when to keep their distance. The drinks are so good! Try the fig one with the sage leaf. Got invited to Saint & Second for a brunch party and I had a blast! We ate on the second floor that provided a very calming view of second street. We were able to watch all the vehicles and people walking and driving up and down the street while enjoying good food and drinks. The mimosas were very good and they allowed us to mix up are own drinks. We had the luxury of an open bar and enjoyed some signature drink that were mixed to perfection by the bartender. We were welcomed to eat at a buffet style brunch that included steak, eggs Benedict, French toast, and much more options. Well, on my mission to try and visit every restaurant on second Street it was time to finally hit Saint and second and give this place a try.Came here on a weekday with my son as he got out of school early and we figured we'll hit it at lunch. Restaurant was pretty much empty when we got there we were served quickly and given a table on the patio, which was nice. The location is really nice and the inside is beautiful. Also, the bathroom is clean and our waitress was super friendly, which helped . I had questions on the menu and our waitress was prompt and more than willing to answer any questions that i had. This is where things slowly took a nose dive . Calamari appetizer = 5/10 calamari was tender, but the plate did not have a lot of food and the chorizo that it was served with was hard and cold, which did not pair well with this. Steak sandwich.=6/10 This was more of a Philly cheese to me not a steak sandwich because the steak that was served on the sandwich was sliced thinly and reminded me of a beef dip not a traditional steak sandwich flavor was good just not my idea of a steak sandwich. Smokehouse burger.=5/10 my son ordered this because he wanted a cheeseburger and it did have a very smoky taste, which was good, but it was overcooked and the smoke was almost overpowering. I tried some of the burger myself, and I honestly was not impressed. Oh, and the fries served withboth of these dishes were super cold and thin. I know what this place is trying to do, but it seems like they're a little lost in their environment. The setting is nice. When I read my old review, I could see why: it seemed to be a place long on ambiance but short on great food. With so many places in town vying for one's attention, a mediocre, spendy experience in an area I don't frequent much relegated it to the lower end of places I wanted to revisit. That could change with my last experience, at least for the bar. The hubby and I ducked in here with some friends after dinner across the street, and luckily found four seats around a corner at the bar--perfect. The bar was as beautiful as I remembered, and the bartenders were friendly and welcoming. They were also efficient; you could tell they took their jobs seriously--no sloppiness, here, which I really appreciated. Our friends had some wine and the hubby and I decided to share a bourbon flight, which was delightful, complete with info card where you could note your impressions. Visited Saint & Second last night with my wife to celebrate our anniversary, and I have to say, the food was to freakin die for! Making a reservation was super easy, and we were seated on their heated patio right away, which was a great start to the night. We ordered: The Mezze Plate ($14), Mac & Shrooms ($15), French Onion Soup ($13), the Butternut Squash Cavatelli ($32), paired with Château Motte ($10), and a Sober Bird ($13). Every single dish knocked it out of the park. Seriously, I'd throw hands over this meal, it was that damn good. From the rich, savory flavors of the French Onion Soup to the creamy perfection of the Mac & Shrooms, every bite was heaven. The Butternut Squash Cavatelli? Absolute magic.
