Awesome friendly staff. Everyone was literally so amazing. There was this extremely rude costumer to one of the servers (I overheard this) and she took it like a champ. I said something to this costumer because of how rude she was being (yes it was that bad). Anyways the servers were still so nice and friendly to her. Great bar and mimosas as well. The food was good but my expectations were high as I was comparing to Ruby Slipper in New Orleans. The experience was not that. It's a more relaxed atmosphere with no rush to leave. The food is reasonably priced, but they get you with the drink prices. Such a great location right in the heart of downtown Franklin, yet after hearing several disappointing experiences from friends, I had to try for myself. I didn't have the long wait or slow service like some had mentioned. In fact, the server was very nice, helpful and offered suggestions. We received the food quickly as well, but that's the end of the nice things I can say. The food is simply not good. It lacks flavor and even proper execution. The eggs were overcooked, the salmon benedict was served on a dreadful biscuit rather than a toast or english muffin, and the salmon was not actual smoked salmon, but rather flakes of salmon straight from a can. I was hoping the bad reviews I had heard would be wrong, and I went in hoping to find a new great place, but it was very disappointing. Ruby Sunshine should make no reference to New Orleans fare, because it is insulting to New Orleans. read more

I took my husband to Ruby Sunshine this week for his birthday lunch. What a nice experience. We experienced no wait (this was a Wednesday around 11:45 a.m.), but our server had to check back with us a few times before we were ready to order -- there were so many great options to choose from! I ordered the Florentine Omelet - which was ridiculously delicious- and it came with a biscuit and a side. My side dish - the breakfast potatoes - were seasoned well, but were lukewarm. When I asked our server if I could get some fresh ones she happily obliged. And the biscuit?!? It was pretty large, and one of the best restaurant biscuits I've had in a long time! And the cane syrup butter that comes with the biscuit -- oh my goodness, it is to die for! I've ordered twice from here same location and the food is quite good but they really need to work on accuracy. Both times I've ordered a to-go meal they have forgotten something first time was a fruit cup but this time they forgot two of my potatoes and they gave me the ketchup but no potatoes. I just feel that I shouldn't need to make sure everything that I ordered is in the bag. I should trust that the restaurant does their job in having everything thing that I ordered. Went to the Ruby Sunshine in down town franklin for breakfast this am. I have been before when I was in New Orleans and was excited to try it in my hometown. This place is very cute and fits the franklin vibe. I was really disappointed by the waiters knowledge of the menu, as well as the lack of allergy free options. As a gluten free eater, allergy, I was let down by the very very limited options. The food I ended up with was decent, I had scrambled eggs, candied bacon and creole coleslaw. Super slow service this morning. Waited 50 minutes to eat once we ordered. However, the manager paid for our meal and apologized. Brioche French toast was great along with salmon avacado toast and their BLT. The three of us enjoyed the food. The Americano... the creamer... not a good flavor at all. But, the teenagers liked the hot chocolates. Our waiter was very nice and apologetic which was appreciated. Seems like they have a few kinks to work out in the kitchen. We will certainly be back at some point to try them again. The food was worth it! read more

One of my new favorite breakfast/lunch places in Franklin. The atmosphere is fun, friendly, and inviting. The servers are very knowledgeable about every menu item. I am a picky eater and the waitress was able to suggest alternative menu items for me to eat instead of ordering a la carte. The mimosas were very good and you got a lot for the price. Compared to other brunch places that charge a lot for their mimosas- Ruby's mimosas are the largest bang for you buck. Their portion sizes compared to their prices per dish are worth it. We felt very full, satisfied, and had leftovers to bring home with us. Their homemade biscuits are a must get! Anytime I have visitors, we will go here for brunch every time. read more

They were served in plastic ware, my plastic glass had a lipstick on it from the person before me. **check your drink glasses** The food was not anything to rave about. I got a Spinach Omelette with goat cheese and potatoes. The potatoes were dried out, maybe that is the New Orleans way to serve potatoes. Honestly, the omelette was something I could have made at home. It didn't have a lot of flavor so I asked for a side of salsa and was charged $1.25 for a spoonful of salsa? Who does that? The redeeming piece of the meal was the biscuit, it was fluffy and SO delicious! I may give this place another try in the future, however, I wouldn't say it was a "jewel". It's a nice addition. I'm from New Orleans and I was really looking forward to an early brunch date with my wife. The food wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I don't think it would pass muster in New Orleans. Very bland - had the trifecta. Shrimp was over cooked. Eggs Cochin was good, not great and the fried chicken had no flavor at all. A 15 minute wait turned into a 30 min wait followed by a 25 min wait for someone to take our order followed by 30 more minutes for food. Brunch is busy, no surprise there, but there were plenty of staff and table turns were very slow - hope they get that sorted. The decor is basic, the cheap plastic plates are a real let down. Very cheap eating experience. Silverware rolled loose, cheap, off brand Sysco condiments at the table. Just a poor showing, well below other Franklin brunch spots and FAR below something from my home town. Worth a try, wasn't impressed and felt like we wasted a ton of our morning. read more
