Onyx + Alabaster Coffee Lounge in downtown Franklin is officially one of my favorite coffee shops! They're well known for the Alchemy Latte with honey, cinnamon, and vanilla, which is really good, but my personal favorite is the O+A Latte with white and dark chocolate. They have rotating seasonal pastries and the inside atmosphere is a big part of what makes this place special. The downstairs space is cozy and cute, while the larger upstairs lounge is perfect for some rest after a shopping stroll down Main Street, coffee dates, or getting a little work done. Pro tip: if you have time, walk through their connected interior design space and home market to browse home goods and decor, and stop by the Alchemy Wall to grab a free scripture or inspiration card! read more

Onyx & Alabaster is an interior design company with a storefront and coffee lounge in downtown Franklin. I've been a few times with friends for coffee and always admired the space as it's beautifully designed, chic, and carefully curated, though the seating area is quite small and tight making it very loud if busy. Their lattes are solid, with creative blends that reflect the boutique aesthetic. That said, I recently learned that this business is listed on PublicSq and has affiliations I no longer feel comfortable supporting. Out of a personal commitment to inclusivity and community care, I've chosen not to return. I encourage others to do their own research and decide where their dollars go based on their own values. I cannot speak to the coffee shop but the design firm has been very difficult to work with. Payment in full for tens of thousands of dollars for furnishings has been made in advance and 7 months later we have no information on whether the items we purchased were ordered and if/when they will be delivered. The staffing turnover has been frequent and we have had more than 5 contacts over this time period. The only remaining contact is the owner and she will not provide us with any update. read more

I love this coffee shop! It has an absolutely inviting and captivating vibe which is sophisticated and relaxing at the same time. It's connected to the design studio which is always a fun stop in to smell their signature scented candles and see other amazing hone decor gems. In the small main coffee shop where you place your order, there are journals and books that scream "perfect gift" and tempted me to buy for various people. My coffee date almost turned into a shopping spree. It may look crowded if there's a line, but the employees worked well to get our drinks made quick and still with care. They opened an upstairs loft for sitting and lounging with friends. It's stunning and bright, reminding me of a NY apartment. It's somewhat echo-y but still worked well for a semi-intimate coffee date. The drip coffee was delicious. It was described as a medium roast with notes of chocolate in it. While it wasn't screaming chocolate (please don't expect to taste candy in your coffee) it was so enjoyable. My friend got the matcha latte and stated it was a good amount of sweet mixed with matcha. As a fellow interior designer and creative who grew up in Franklin, TN I am always disheartened at the level of snobbish this once very sweet town once was. I ran in to grab a quick coffee with my shepherd, never had an issue before. Even a lady in front of me with a small dog wasn't spoken to but because I have a large dog I was. The snobby owner sitting there telling me I needed to go outside with my dog and she'd bring me my coffee. I've never in ten years of traveling the world, living in big cities have ever had an issue grabbing a coffee to go with my dog who is trained and well behaved. Health code my a**, it was just pure judgement that I didn't have a Shih Tzu. I won't be returning, and to be honest the place is depressing and gloomy with their terrible minimalist Joanna Gaines lack of taste anyways. I'll go to frothy monkey any day over the Cali energy in there. read more

Really great environment and ambience there, the decor/design was gorgeous, and staff were really polite. Easily a place I could sit down with a book or get work done for a few hours. We got the mocha cappuccino and the iced alchemy latte (honey, cinnamon, vanilla) and they were both delicious! Good espresso flavor and not overly sweet. Highly recommend. Currently at pumpkin fest in Franklin which is 100% dog friendly. My friend and I have two small mini golden doodles and we waited over 30 mins to get coffee. The people around us petting and complimenting our dogs. This lady that works there had passed us several times but didn't act weird. Once we were finally 3 away from ordering (it was very packed), she comes up and kicks us out saying we are ruining their health code. (All doors open, our dogs don't shed and not messing with anyone). But why wait until we've been inside in line for half an hour to say something. Will never be going back to a dog hating establishment. My dog is also a service dog but my friend's wasn't. So if you are a dog lover or owner, I wouldn't give them your business! read more

Great stop for some delicious coffee. They do have pretty aggressive scents going on in the building so be aware. My husband was very happy with his pour over and the fact that they serve Onyx coffee I got their pumpkin seasonal drinks d requested 1/2 the amount of syrup because they're usually too sweet, they made a mistake and didn't half it and it was definitely too sweet for me. I kindly asked if they would remake it and they were very apologetic and remade it. Their drinks are like $6/$7 which is pretty dang steep and if you get an alternative milk you add a dollar. read more

The store itself is super chic and feels modern, though the scent of the cologne or room spray is a bit strong for me. Drinks are really quite pricey, but portions are very large.
