We are from the PNW and there is so much great Thai there, this just didn't measure up. I got the Chicken Pad Thai, fried prawns, Gyoza and mango sticky rice for my wife and I. The Pad Thai was cooked and mixed well, but had zero flavor. Texture and consistency of the noodles was great, but tasted like nothing. Very weird. The sticky rice was a bit more like pudding, the gyoza was fine and the prawns were fine. Wouldn't return, but in a pinch you might consider it. read more

The food is great here and I always come here because I love their cashew dish. I took my mom, dad, & sister to try this place & of course I had my 4yr old daughter who ate from my dish. So technically , it was 4 of us. When it was time to pay , they automatically charged us a $13 tip...i asked why.. she said they do that automatically when it's 5 ppl and up.. I ALWAYS TIP THIS PLACE BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS GREAT but in a way , I was forced into it when it was only 4 of us. We ordered 4 dish!!! my daughter did not order anything! I ordered from this restaurant yesterday and chose delivery through the Royyim Thai website. The delivery service that picked up my food was Doordash and I received a text an hour after ordering letting me know my food had been delivered yet there was no food on my doorstep or any other doorstep on my street. I wasn't able to get ahold of the delivery driver after calling and texting multiple times so I contacted Royyim Thai to let them know and was told that they did "their part" so there was nothing they could do for me. I then reached out to DoorDash who told me that my two options were 1) have them call the restaurant to see if they would remake my food or 2) get a refund. I went with option 1 to have them just remake my food. DoorDash proceeded to put me on hold and call Royyim Thai and ask them to do that but they said they weren't willing to remake it because it's not on them. So I said I would like to get a refund to then only to find out that the restaurant has to be the one to reach out to DoorDash to request a refund since the restaurant is who has my payment info. I called Royyim Thai back and explained that to them and was told that the owner would be in today from 11-2 and 4-8 and that only they can help me. I called back at noon and was told the owner actually wasn't in today but that they still aren't able to do anything for me and that it has to be DoorDash. My husband and I previously ate here at least monthly and have brought friends/family along with us. I am really disappointed with Royyim Thai. It's really sad that the owner would rather have $40 and not lose out on 2 bowls of food than do the right thing and make the customer have a good experience with their restaurant. We will never again eat at Royyim Thai and will not recommend it to anyone. read more

We eat Thai and Vietnamese food on a regular basis. Just popped in to try a couple of simple items to go. Ordered sticky sweet rice and goi cuon. The sticky rice was a small glob of tasteless rice. The RT fresh roll ( their version of goi cuon) was lots of carrots and a tiny bit of peanut sauce,otherwise tasteless. So very very disappointed. When we asked for sticky rice it was off the dessert portion of the menu. Plain sticky rice is without mango since you offered both. This is really a lame excuse. I would give ten stars if I could! Their Thai food is our absolute favorite in AZ and we have been to tons of places to try. We get Royyim Thai almost weekly. We've gotten takeout from them 50+ times and they have NEVER messed up our order which is amazing. The man taking orders is sooo friendly and the food never takes more than 15 minutes. TERRIBLE SERVICE!! After enjoying countless meals over several years at what I consider my favorite Thai restaurant in the valley, I experienced the most unnerving interaction tonight. As I entered the restaurant as a solo diner, which I have done on many occasions I witnessed a familiar gentleman assisting several different groups of guests ahead of me to seat themselves wherever they'd like. When it was my turn to select a seat, I was assisted by a not so friendly stern looking lady who ushered me to pick between one of two tables located front and center in the restaurant. I asked if I could sit at an empty table for four away from the front door where I normally sit when I dine in. She said NO that I needed to choose from the two tables she had initially given me as choices. I explained to her that I'd rather not sit immediately at the front door as it was a chilly evening and rather breezy in those spots. I told her that I'd prefer to sit at one of the many empty tables toward the back of the restaurant. She was clearly irritated by my request and told me that if she allowed me to sit at one of the other larger tables, that she would promptly reseat me if a larger party came in to dine. I was stunned since the gentleman had been allowing other parties to select their seating preference, both before and after I was seated. The rude interaction bothered me and in fact ruined my dining experience. I did take notice that while I dined that she too allowed other guests to select their own tables. I'm puzzled as to why she singled me out? Was she having a bad night? Or was it because I was the only guest of color in the restaurant? The mistake I made was that I stayed and spent my money at this establishment. I should have walked out and chosen to dine elsewhere. Before leaving, I did bring the troublesome interaction to the attention of the gentleman who recognized me as a regular customer and he apologized for his wife's behavior. However, going forward, I will no longer be referring to this restaurant as a top local spot on my Airbnb listing and I will not be returning here to spend my hard earned dollars. I don't trust this business to provide a good experience to my customers after tonight's experience. As a small business, Royyim Thai should recognize the importance of excellent customer service. read more

My wife and I are regulars at Royiim for good reason- best curries in Gilbert/Mesa. The Panang with steamed tofu is our favorite. I have always dreaded eating asian food in AZ, but this restaurant shifts that paradigm. This is the best Thai food I have had in AZ, Period. Absolutely deserve 5 stars on all front. Taste: everything had well balanced flavors, with good preparation. Like broccoli that is still crisp, garlic that infuses into the whole plate (garlic chicken), and curry that has such deep flavor profiles. Most places near here taste like colored coconut milk, not Royyim! Freshness: the chicken used tasted incredibly fresh and no chewy or gnarly bits. Again, most places near here have that old chicken taste (you know what I'm talking about) and always get a little piece that you have to spit out. Not Royyim! I will absolutely be coming here a lot because their food reminds me of our travels to Thailand and their authenticity really shines through. read more

Do not recommend this establishment. Screwed up my grub hub order. When I asked for them to fix it they made excuses. When I asked to speak with a manager they said they didn't have one and would have to call me back. When I called them back they hung up on me. I tried calling back several times and they would not pickup so I had drive down there to try and speak with a manager to get a $128 refund on my order which they could not do only grub hub could. Also all the food that got delivered was cold and this establishment is about 10 minutes from my place. The only reason I even tried to order from here was my normal Thai food place was closed on Sunday. The food was good we ordered spicy Thai fried rice, orange chicken, drunk noodle, and crab rice. One thing I did not appreciate if that they include they tip in the total amount. Everyone I have ever been it's been 8 people more, my family of 5 have never had this happen before. She included a $15 tip. I'm upset because honestly she didn't deserve that amount. We are all git tipping out servers but she never gave us refills, help, she didn't give us straws we had to ask for them. My 6 year old asked for to go boxes and she rudely passed by her as if she wasn't even staying there or was incapable of holding plastic. She did the bare minimum there was only us and another party of 3 in there, and yurt came after us. We found this hidden gem of a Thai place on a Friday night and boy are we happy we did! The staff was so friendly and attentive and patient. The interior was spacious and clean which I loved! I ordered the yellow curry and Thai fried rice and loved it!! Delicious! It satisfied my craving for Thai comfort food. We also ordered deep fried todu and crab puffs. They were average tasting. My husband had the pad thai and he said it was on the sweet side, which if you love that you will enjoy it here at Royyim. Their mango sticky rice served in a cute margarita cactus glass was the perfect dessert to leave us feeling pleased enough to come back and try their other dishes! We had been to this restaurant a few years back when they first opened. The food was good so we thought we would give it another try. Arrived with my wife at 4:15 on a Sunday. We were the only ones in the restaurant. Tables and chairs were similar to those in a diner. No candles or table lighting. No condiments for flavoring the food. We waited a few minutes and someone emerged from the kitchen. He looked at us and said sit anywhere. We grabbed a few menus and sat down. Five minutes later he emerged again to take our order. Only then did he asked if we wanted anything to drink. My wife ordered mixed vegetables with shrimp and I ordered the chef's special pad Thai with crab. Our waters arrived our food arrived and we had to ask for utensils and napkins. We never saw our server again until we were done. My wife asked for level 3 heat, there was none. Mixed vegetable dish was bland. The chef's special pad Thai was standard pad Thai with a spoonful of lump crab on the side. Neither dish was hot or tasted freshly cooked. The noodles on the pad Thai tasted like they had sat out all night. I'm sorry but if I'm going to spend $50 on dinner I want something that I can enjoy. This was a wasted $50 and I did not enjoy it. So I've now tried this place 3 times. Overall, the service was friendly and the food was on time. Consistency with the flavors is not great here but the portions are pretty good. Maybe this dish is best ordered spicy. I have never had this before so I do not have a gauge or point of reference. Man I love this place but for the first time I felt a little embarrassed while taking a client out for lunch. I orders a Thai Ice Tea, which at different locations either it's super sweet or it's not super sweet. This was super sweet, I let the person know and asked if he can get me another glass with ice and water so I can dilute it. He told me this is what Thai ice tea is, that is what it's suppose to be super sweet. Now I have been to Thailand and I'm from California orange county area where one of my good friends owns three type restaurants called urban Thai. So I have a certain understanding of what certain things are supposed to taste like no I'm not saying that the ice tea did not taste good I was merely pointing to the fact that it was too sweet for my preference. Then he became a smart ass about this and said it's not free refill so I can't get you more milk. At which point I said money is not the issue if you wanna charge me for two iced teas and charge me. At which point he brought me a cup of ice with a little bit of milk and ended up charging me eight dollars for two drinks. Normally at this location and there's a girl that helps us when We come in for lunch at least once a week I have brought many people to this location since there's not too many Thai restaurants in Arizona let alone in Gilbert. I normally bring a lot of my clients here for lunch since it's next to my business but just because of your four dollar iced tea and being a smart ass business owner you have now lost my business and my future business. Word of advice if A customer tells you something is too sweet say what can I do to make it better not be a smart ass about it and get into a verbal discussion with me in front of my client.
