A friend of my wife raved about Royyim Thai so we came to see what the fuss was about. It is a small place with one server, so we had to wait till he was free to seat us. No problem and he was friendly and attentive. My wife had Pineapple Curry with Chicken, Mild spicyness. She was very happy and would order Medium next time. I had Spicy Basil with Chicken, Medium spicyness. I was very happy with my meal, lots of bell peppers and bamboo shoots in it. We will eat here again. read more

My husband and I decided to try Royyim based on the great reviews on Yelp. We went on a Wednesday night. We got there around 8:15pm. The restaurant was absolutely empty, we were the only ones who dined in until close at 9. The place is very clean and the decor is pretty. We looked over the menu and chose veggie egg rolls for our appetizers, Pad See Eww and yellow curry, chicken. The food came out pretty quick. Everything was super hot and fresh. The spice level mild was pretty good for me. My husband always chooses medium at every Thai restaurant and he said his was not as spicy as usual. We both enjoyed our meal. The portion size for the chicken is very generous, I had to ask my husband to help me finish it. The chicken curry is less sweet at this restaurant than some of the other Thai places I tried. I personally prefer the sweeter version. It seems that we were served by the owners. The lady was nice and attentive and very welcoming. Even though they close at 9, they received a call for a takeout order at 8:45pm and they were happy to serve the customer. We left at exactly 9 and as we were leaving, the gentleman who ordered arrived. Many restaurants close their kitchen about 1/2 hour or more prior to close but this doesn't seem to be an issue for Royyim (for takeout I'm assuming). Ordered delivery last night and our main dish was Thai Spicy Basil with chicken. It was tasty ... but I ordered medium and what we got was a lot more like 'Thai Hot'. It's amusing reading reviews below where most say 'medium' isn't hot enough. Which is ... often true at Royyim. However on this occasion what arrived to us was straight-brutal in the spice department, and I love me some spicy food. I enjoy the heat level of say ... Mango Habanero sauce at Wing Stop, which is no joke spice-wise. I don't typically struggle with Royyim's 'Hot' level but I order 'Medium' usually as I have higher tolerance than my lady. Plus I eat food from here frequently so I know what is normal 'medium' with them, and what we received was NOT normal. 4 bites was my limit, my lady took 2. It ended up wasted, sadly. This inconsistency makes ordering via delivery a dicey prospect, put it like that. read more

This place has good food but they charge you one dollar extra if you ask for no ice in your Thai iced tea. That is absolutely ridiculous. I'm already paying for the drink so it shouldn't matter if I want ice in it or not. Actually it would be fair if there was no ice since that would be the TRUE amount I'm paying for. So they can charge you full price for a drink and fill it up with a ton of ice to where you are only getting half the tea but if I ask for no ice and get the true amount of tea I'm paying for then they are going to charge me ONE DOLLAR for no ice?? That's very greedy and a crappy way to run a restaurant and a business and treat their customers. Seriously. I ask for no ice because I order Uber eats a lot and I don't want the ice to melt and have my tea watered down by the time it gets to my house and I don't want to have to pay one dollar more for an already overpriced small cup just for no ice. I recently moved from the San Francisco Bay Area so I am very picky when it comes to food. Overall, I have not had a good experience in Arizona and had a lot of trouble finding my go-to restaurants. Thai food was also another issue that I could not overcome. Most places serve food that is just way over salted (a typical Arizona problem). I came to this place not expecting very much since I was used to being disappointed. I talked to the cashier who was very friendly and suggested that the food was good, and that he was also from California and often had the same problem. Still, I was suspecting another disappointment. I ordered the crab fried rice and asked them to make it as spicy as possible (thinking that they wouldn't do this). I was shocked that the food was actually very spicy, and was to my liking. The crab fried rice had delectable tasting crab, well cooked rice, and lots of flavour profiles. I was not only surprised but happy that I stumbled upon this place. My friend ordered Pad Thai which is something I usually don't like. I tried the Pad Thai and even that was very good. The Pad Thai was reasonably priced but the Crab fried rice was on the higher side ($20ish). But if you want authentic tasting, spicy, flavourful crab fried rice, I would order it. I have never tried curry before because I can't do hot or spicy food (white girl problems ). However my boyfriend brought home the yellow curry MILD with chicken.....and wow. I'm OBSESSED!! I have since ordered the VEGGIE yellow curry with extra broccoli 3 times and it's SO GOOD! I can and probably WILL eat this particular dish at least 3 times a week. It's a huge portion and you can't beat the price! It's just a small little family owned restaurant by Hobby Lobby. The gentleman that helped me was very nice and my food was piping hot! I am allergic to shellfish, shellfish sauce & paste, peanuts, most of their menu. With no substitute I did not take a chance. We were shared $1 for no carrots. His attitude as he talked down to us about how he runs his restaurant; what a lecture on how to operate a restaurant. Go to Thai Chili 2 Go and they substitute freely vegetables. The lunch specials $9.99 are spendy for what you receive. The wonton soup at $11 very spendy, must be a big bowl. This was our first visit and not much reason to come back, no substitutions. Tom Yum soup was decent, but it is not available in a cup size portion. Flavor of soup was good, chicken was plentiful. Chicken Pad Thai was not good. It had a funny earthy flavor that I couldn't get past. I ordered hot spice and I would have definitely called it more of a medium spice. Ordered red curry, but pretty sure they brought us yellow curry instead. It was definitely lacking spice as well. Ordered the som tum (papaya salad) and the Khao Soi. These are favorites of mine and neither of these lived up to the dish. The salad had a weird flavor- not a typical flavor for papaya salad. The Khao Soi also had a weird flavor and the noodles were undercooked. read more

I ordered from this restaurant yesterday and chose delivery through the Royyim Thai website. The delivery service that picked up my food was Doordash and I received a text an hour after ordering letting me know my food had been delivered yet there was no food on my doorstep or any other doorstep on my street. I wasn't able to get ahold of the delivery driver after calling and texting multiple times so I contacted Royyim Thai to let them know and was told that they did "their part" so there was nothing they could do for me. I then reached out to DoorDash who told me that my two options were 1) have them call the restaurant to see if they would remake my food or 2) get a refund. I went with option 1 to have them just remake my food. DoorDash proceeded to put me on hold and call Royyim Thai and ask them to do that but they said they weren't willing to remake it because it's not on them. So I said I would like to get a refund to then only to find out that the restaurant has to be the one to reach out to DoorDash to request a refund since the restaurant is who has my payment info. I called Royyim Thai back and explained that to them and was told that the owner would be in today from 11-2 and 4-8 and that only they can help me. I called back at noon and was told the owner actually wasn't in today but that they still aren't able to do anything for me and that it has to be DoorDash. My husband and I previously ate here at least monthly and have brought friends/family along with us. I am really disappointed with Royyim Thai. It's really sad that the owner would rather have $40 and not lose out on 2 bowls of food than do the right thing and make the customer have a good experience with their restaurant. We will never again eat at Royyim Thai and will not recommend it to anyone. read more

We're looking for a new go-to Thai place in the east valley and unfortunately, this food disappointed us. The pad Thai was very sweet and almost tomato-y with a grainy texture. The yellow curry was okay but very light on flavor even with medium spice. Definitely want to give credit for how covid-friendly they are - they're doing takeout and delivery only at this point and have a station behind a window set up for curbside orders - but unfortunately I won't be back. read more

We are from the PNW and there is so much great Thai there, this just didn't measure up. I got the Chicken Pad Thai, fried prawns, Gyoza and mango sticky rice for my wife and I. The Pad Thai was cooked and mixed well, but had zero flavor. Texture and consistency of the noodles was great, but tasted like nothing. Very weird. The sticky rice was a bit more like pudding, the gyoza was fine and the prawns were fine. Wouldn't return, but in a pinch you might consider it. read more

The pineapple coconut curry was really good, the basil fried rice and fried tofu was delicious. The spring roll was refreshing and huge and we were able to shake one with 4 people. The food is great here and I always come here because I love their cashew dish. I took my mom, dad, & sister to try this place & of course I had my 4yr old daughter who ate from my dish. So technically , it was 4 of us. When it was time to pay , they automatically charged us a $13 tip...i asked why.. she said they do that automatically when it's 5 ppl and up.. I ALWAYS TIP THIS PLACE BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS GREAT but in a way , I was forced into it when it was only 4 of us. We ordered 4 dish!!! my daughter did not order anything!
