Lovely restaurant in the heart of Ogunquit. Diverse menu, with many options for seafood, meat and some vegetarian options. We didn't want a big dinner, so opted for soup and salads. Lobster bisque very filling and hearty was served with croutons. The clam chowder was well done and filling. We included lobster meat on the salad which made it a full meal! After dinner fudge was a great touch! We sat on the patio, next to a fire pit to take out some of the evening chill. The restaurant is positioned next to a very busy street, so it was noisy. We just happened to walk by this place and decided to try it. We ate so glad we did! Our server was Noah and he was very friendly and attentive. Place was very busy with many waiting for a table outside. We chose for a quicker table inside and we are glad we did. Bar is decorated with pretty Turkish lamps Highlight of our evening was our perfect fish and chips. We got our order about 10 minutes after ordering. Fish was hot and nicely fried. Do not go to Rose Cove!! If it was possible to give it no stars I would. The people who work there are great but management is horrible. They treat their employees so poorly. They discriminate against the J1 employees. The kitchen is unclean and none of the kitchen staff wears gloves. A friend of mine has also gotten food poisoning from Rose Cove. Nice building. Outdoor seating include gas fired tabletop dining. The food was ok especially for the price. I ordered the baked scallops with broccoli salad and the scallops had zero sweet scallop flavor and actually tasted like they were rinsed in a bleach solution. I don't recommend ordering them. We stopped to look at the menu and the host approached us with complementary fudge. it was amazing and we were intrigued by the outdoor fire pit tables in late October so we decided to take a chance. Definitely a great location for a great restaurant. I enjoyed the historic building it is in. Firstly, they had the best martini thar I had on vacation- I believe it's called the Earl's Grey. I could have had several of those. Their blood orange bourbon was excellent too. (Dear owner- what's in the Earl Grey martini? Forgot to photograph the menu lol) Everyone enjoyed their food; I had the steak & cheese sandwich which was delicious. A bonus is their homemade fudge which they give a generous amount to each customer. Our server was very friendly and sweet. Definitely recommend! read more

We had the coconut shrimp - amazing with just the right amount of sweet coconut, fish and chips - huge portion and perfectly crispy, and the lobster salad - I was so impressed with how much lobster came with this dish! The lobster bisque was thick and smoky, with lots of actual lobster pieces in it. Very savory. Bacon wrapped scallops Were pan seared and also quite good with a maple dipping sauce. The garden salad is pretty large and has quite a variety of toppings over a bed of Romain lettuce. And you can get it with 6 ounces of lobster on top if you prefer. Yes, if ever again I visit Ogunquit, I will lunch again at the Rose Cove -- for the Lobster Flatbread. That was by far the best thing I had there. The crabcakes were too crusty;taste was lost in the crunch. I tried the Rose Cove special shot from the specialty drinks menu: was supposed to be elderberry and blueberry liqeuers, and peach schnapps. $10. It tasted only of the peach schnapps. I'd hoped for a blueberry taste. Another winning item, though, was a dessert -- the blueberry and lemon cake with Mascarpone frosting. I'm glad to say my daughter and I shared this, and lleft quite a bit of the frosting because it was so rich. But a delightful combination of flavors and textures. Rose Cove was a very pretty place to have lunch, making our last day there even more beautiful. read more

They drew us in with the free fudge samples. We are so glad we decided to go in to eat our lunch! We shared the bacon wrapped scallops and crab cakes with pepper aioli appetizers. We followed those with delicious salads. I got the almond and berry salad with fresh strawberries and blueberries and a savory raspberry vinaigrette. My husband got the broccoli salad with feta cheese, red onions, and pistachios. We sat out on the patio in the shade with a cool breeze for this hot day. Here's the jist. I like this place because it's in a central location and has a good ambience. The string lights and the fire pit tables are a really good touch. Would I come back for the food? No. The food was subpar. Not terrible, not great. We got the lobster roll (not pictured - looks like the other pics) and it was just ok, the roll it was on was rock hard which wasn't ideal. Definitely better rolls in Ogunquit. The lobster flatbread was pretty decent - seems to be one of the better lobster related options. Whatever you do, DONT GET THE MAC N CHEESE. They weirdly put the meat on top and it wasn't quality meat, the chicken was chewy and the pasta looked like it came out of a box. I wanted to take a pic of the mac n cheese how it came out but my boyfriend already started mixing it up lol read more

Rose cove is such a cute restaurant. The outdoor fireplace seating is really fun for friends or family. As a group of 5 without reservations we didn't have to wait more than a half hour to be seated for dinner which was great. We were able to sit at the bar and get drinks until our table was ready. The broccoli salad could have been half at half the price or even the same price and have been too much. A person can only eat so much broccoli in one sitting. DISAPPOINTING LOBSTER ROLL At the recommendation of a local Ogunquit shop owner, we had lunch at the Rose Cove Café. Everyone had a lobster roll ($30) and I had the Caesar salad ($13). We sat outside on the terrace. The large Caesar salad was very good. However, the lobster roll served here was my least favorite during our Boston/Maine vacation. First it was served on a hamburger sized soft roll and not the classic open top toasted bun. Second, the lobster meat was overcooked - it was dry and stringy. The lobster salad was mostly shredded lobster claw meat and not chunks of lobster tail. The mayo dressing added no flavor to the lobster salad. The menu said it was a 6 oz serving of lobster but for $30, it seemed to be a very small amount of filling between the squashed bun slices. It was also odd that the hostess offers samples of delicious fudge outside the restaurant to bring in customers (apparently the restaurant started as a candy store) but fudge is not available as a dessert. Finally, AmExp is not accepted here and the hand held credit card system used by the restaurant automatically preset the tip at 22%. We also could not get a paper receipt that reflected the tip. read more

I have been wanting to try Rose Cafe for several years. Finally had a chance over Memorial Day weekend. Party of eight sat outside at a fire pit table. Our server Edie was funny and attentive. We requested a slight change in seating from the hostess Laura but the request was refused. After escalating to the owner, his response to our request was "of course you can change your seating". Too bad it took an escalation to accommodate our simple request. The owner should consider a staffing adjustment. Our drinks were the best part of the meal. Pride, punch, bloody orange martini and Malbec wine were nicely prepared and strong. Overall, the food was good. Started with nachos, coconut shrimp and bacon wrapped scallops. The nachos were ok, would have been better with more cheese. The shrimp and scallops were delicious. Dinner consisted of sampler seafood plate, fish and chips and clam chowder. The clam chowder was hot and creamy. The fish was fresh and moist, fried scallops were tasty, but the clam strips were clumps of clam and too much batter. Fried shrimp were decent sized and good. We like our French fries crispy so we asked for them to be cooked well-done. Unfortunately they were served limp and barely brown. read more

I can't say enough about this cozy and quaint restaurant. Our server Samantha was great, along with what I could tell were consistently attentive servers on staff. I have never had haddock let alone baked. Wow! What a decadent dish. So buttery, lots of lemon yet light and moist white fish with a crumble on top. Fries were really good too. Hubby had the haddock panko crusted fish tacos. Wow!! So flavorful with the pickled coleslaw.
