Best food in Ogunquit! The haddock sandwich and chowder were fresh, filling, and flavorful. The kids' meal with haddock was also high quality and felt like "real food". Plus, the broccoli it came with was cooked so well that my kids gobbled it up. Service was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. View from the outdoor patio felt like the right space from Main Street without being isolated. Wish I came back! read more

The location is a 10/10. Downtown Ogunquit on a breezy Friday afternoon is nothing short of New England charm: - small shops & boutiques, ice cream & fudge shoppes, and people watching galore are just some of the options that adorn Route 1. Unfortunately the meal was underwhelming. A 45 minute wait for a cheeseburger was a bit much considering the restaurant was not at all crowded and I was seated immediately. Also, I do think potato chips should be either salty or spicy, but not both. The chips that came with my meal were BOTH. The haddock stuffing was good, but small. Also, there must be a run on jumbo pretzels here in Maine, because every place seems to be out of them. So I decided to not order an appetizer since they were out of them. Also - no hand sanitizer or soap in one of the bathrooms?! read more

Pepper's Seafood has a lot of potential, but our experience was disappointing because of issues that seemed to stem from management rather than the staff working the floor. We arrived without a reservation and were told there would be about an hour wait. The host came across as a bit snarky, although he did offer us seats at the bar, which we appreciated. After being seated, it took about 30 minutes before anyone took our order, followed by another 40 minutes before our food arrived. The bartenders were working incredibly hard and were clearly doing everything they could to keep up with the rush, so I don't fault them at all. Unfortunately, one of our meals arrived cold and was extremely over-salted. The restaurant refunded that dish without hesitation, which I appreciated, but it shouldn't have left the kitchen that way in the first place. From what we could see, the kitchen was seriously backed up and the overall operation wasn't being managed well. The staff deserved better support because they were hustling nonstop while trying to deal with unhappy customers. I hope management addresses these issues because the employees are putting in the effort. With better kitchen execution and smoother operations, this could be a much better dining experience. read more

We sat for an hour at our table before any food came. Keegan, our server, was kind but incompetent. Though perhaps the kitchen was struggling as well. -High chair and booster for our toddler? Forgotten. -Coloring pages for the kids? Forgotten. We had to go ask the hostess ourselves. -Appetizers? Forgotten. -Side Caesar salad? Forgotten. -The kitchen was out of mashed potatoes and asparagus. They offered us plain white rice? -Pasta arrived cold. -One main dish in our party arrived 10 full minutes after all the rest with no communication. -Gnats flying around our table. -Had to ask twice for a box. And on top of it all...20% gratuity was added to our bill automatically. Maybe it was just an off night. But it wasn't even that busy. The food was pretty good. But for a supposedly family friendly restaurant, making our kids sit for hours and be up way past their bedtime with so little communication...it was all very disappointing. read more

This was THE MUST DISAPPOINTING LUNCH EVER! It took over 1 1/2 to get one appitizers, soup and fish and chips . Just totally not what past experiences have been and won't ever try again. Snarky waiters, food wasn't up to Par, just not worth one penny. Not what can we do?sorry - just a smart ass. We are over the excuse of seasonal help. read more

Nice ambiance and friendly service and the food was okay. My wife and I shared a starter of portobello mushroom "fries" and these were not bad, accompanied with a ranch dressing sauce. I then had their fried chicken sandwich which incorporated their home brewed beer in the batter. The batter was good and the chicken was a large piece of breast meat but it was dry. The fries were okay, nothing special. My wife had the blackened haddock taco salad and she said it was okay but the haddock was also dry. However, the drinks are good, lively crowd (it was trivia night and the MC was a lot of fun), so all I. All it's not a bad place to spend a couple hours. read more

The food was a mixed bag. The fried scallops were excellent. Two of us had tuna and despite both of us requesting a quick sear, both plates were overcooked. Nearly ruined in fact. One plate of clams arrived cold. The last straw was the refusal to split the checks four ways (there were 10 in our party) It was a serious PITA trying to separate things out from the bill. We're in Ogunquit annually and stay 2 doors down. But most of us will not return here. It's not like the food arrived in any better sequence so their refusal to split the checks is just laziness on the restaurants part. read more

Quaint place in Ogunquit, Maine. Greeted by a very friendly server. They were running a great special for 2 smaller lobsters. The lobster was fantastic. The meat was sweet and tender. We also ordered a crab havarti sandwich. This was also excellent. I'm only here a few days but may go back. Must hit if you're in town. read more

Pepper's Seafood Co, a restaurant named after a fisherman and friend, fully embraces its seaside town with a space that features exposed wood and nautical decor. It's a place that excels at great food, drinks, and camaraderie. The martini was a highlight. The cocktail glass was expertly chilled, and the beverage was vigorously shaken and then perfectly strained. It was finished with an even number of soft, salty olives. The attention to detail was impressive. The food was equally memorable. The staff was conscientious and knowledgeable, and I was thrilled to take advantage of the seafood specials. The fresh local oysters and amazingly seasoned calamari were particular standouts. Pepper Martin's legacy is evident in every aspect of the restaurant. I look forward to returning and making more memories with friends. Read more on IG: themartinibible read more

My wife and I had to wait 45 minutes for our food, waitress forgot her drink order, and we had to stare at our food while asking twice for silverware. I realize this was Labor Day weekend, but it was on the later side and the place was half empty. At least we got food unlike the family nearby who were told after more than an hour that their order wasn't entered somehow. They got up and left. read more

The good news was that they were still open for the season when we visited Ogunquit in late October. So many establishments were already closed. We had clam chowder and a haddock sandwich with sweet potato fries for a late lunch. The entree was $32. The piece of haddock was small. Service wasn't the friendliest. It felt like our server threw things at us, the menu, the check, as if he were so busy. Well, the place wasn't busy. Also, I wished we had known about their daily special. The special for Sunday was $22 for an entree and dessert. I saw one diner having haddock and asparagus for the special. That piece of fish was bigger than ours. All this just didn't make me feel good about eating here. Well, I was grateful that they were opened and we could use their bathroom. read more

We had a very nice lunch here. The prices cheap, but they're fair for the quality of the food. Aesthetically, very well done by management. Really get a sense of Maine and the coast in the design. Love the history. We recommend the seafood fried baskets. read more

Very poor service, my husband's food came out 20 minutes after the rest of our party and it was cold. It was very crowded but the restaurant was not ready for the crowd. Our server was new so I give him a break but he did not seem to care about how we were treated. Excellent spot for our party of 7 (4 adults, 3 children ages 6-12). Clean space with great air conditioning. We sat in a booth. Great children's menu options. Freshly made chicken tenders were solid. Spinach artichoke dip and pretzel were decent starters. At the recommendation of our wonderful waitress, I went with a classic Maine lobster roll which was very fresh, very buttery (roll was a bit soggy with butter). Others in my party enjoyed the garden salad (although store-bought croutons were disappointing) and chicken Caesar salad wrap. Very kids friendly, casual and coastal vibe. Out of the 7-8 restaurants we've tried in Ogunquit, this one is tops for family friendly casual fare. read more

It started during our drink order.....they ran out of the featured Rhubard Mojito, and the Lunch IPA before we began ordering food. We then ordered food. The appetizer came out and was delicious. The Lobster Stew was very good. The Shrimp Taco's were very good even the Fisherman's choice with Chicken Tenders and a wonderful blueberry bbq sauce. Then came the Gumbo........NOT sure what came out, but it was not in fact Gumbo.......No Roux.....No Spices.....No Colour,,,and NO Flavor. It was a HUGE MISS......ended up being a BLAND Stir fry. Unfortunately for the price and what was served was VERY disappointing. The Service was fine, not her fault. The ambiance was o.k. nothing special but the room for whatever reason was uncomfortably cold. Not sure if we'll go back unfortunately. read more

My husband and I were staying nearby during our roadtrip, the front desk at our hotel recommended Pepper's for lobster rolls. We arrived in the area late, and wanted a quick dinner stop. The vibes in the restaurant were fun, there was trivia going on and others having dinner as well. Service was great, our waitress was very friendly and checked up on us a couple times. I visited Pepper's my first night in Ogunquit. Everything so great that I made sure to come back a second time before my trip was over! The wait staff was friendly and attentive. While waiting for food my party was checked in on multiple times for beverage refills. The food came out 10-15 minutes after ordering, both on the busy weekend night and the slower weekday night I dined here. I tried the perkins cove lobster roll as well the seasonal special, a havarti & bacon lobster grilled cheese. I have tried a number lobster rolls across the Northeast and the one from Pepper's may just be my favorite. The portion of lobster both times was generous and cooked to the perfect texture. The seafood rolls and sandwiches include a side of fries or chips as well as coleslaw, and altogether it made for a very filling meal. Pepper's has gluten-free buns available for their lobster rolls and my partner noted that it was good. As a starter, I ordered the New England clam chowder which was delicious. There was a nice amount of clams and the chowder was not too salty. The New England clam chowder at Pepper's is made gluten-free by default. For drinks, there is a full bar, cocktail list, and a number of beers on tap. Pepper's has their own draft beer, the champ lager, which was refreshingly light and worth a try. Overall, a fantastic and consistent experience. I will definitely be returning to Pepper's next time I visit Ogunquit. read more

Would love to have given a review but either they were a mess or discriminatory. Went there with my husband on Sunday evening around 7pm. Lots of empty tables. First was told they had reservations. Then told at least 20 minute wait due to busy kitchen, though most occupied tables had food. Have ate at their related restaurant in Saco (C Salt Seafood) without issue and had good food. Not sure what was up tonight but went to La Pizzeria, reliably good as always. read more

What a cool place to hang out at. We sat at the bar and had such amazing service..: it was a very rainy night and not many people were out. Had a good lunch at Peppers Seafood. It's located right in the heart of downtown Ogunquit, so it's a good place to stop while in the area. I started with a cup of clam chowder. It has that classic buttery taste which is my favorite type of chowder, so I really enjoyed this one. I then got their Lobster Roll, "Mount Aggie" style. What's cool about this place is you can order your lobster roll in different ways, which I've never seen before. The "Mount Aggie" style was mayo and hot butter--YUM. Fries were a perfect crisp and nice and hot. Lobster was good too, pretty good size and it came on a toasted roll. We ended with the Funny Bone cake which is made locally down the road at Bread & Roses Bakery. It's a chocolate cake layered with peanut butter cream. It was so good! Food took a little while to come out and it was a little pricey for a lunch but it was a good experience overall! They have only been open since summer 2023 so for being so new I was impressed! read more

Came to my favorite place by the sea in Ogunquit. Stayed near the center, so when walking around for a place for lunch/dinner, saw this place. The menu had seafood, which I love , plus other things. Decided to come and so glad I did! First, the place is very cute and cozy. The ocean and outdoor theme is all around with plants and pictures of lobster. Very bright inside and friendly waitstaff. Found out this is a new restaurant. Very new in fact, just opened last July. We started with the clam chowder soup. It was very good! One of my favorites so far My daughter and I had to get the lobster roll, which is called Mount Aggie, which I looked up and found it's a real mountain in York. Well Mount Aggie was a huge hit! It was served both hot and cold style, with good portions of lobster. Some rolls are low on the lobster but not this one! It came with French fries and cold slaw. All very good! We had dessert and wow, it blew me away. It was called Funny bone cake, a chocolate and peanut butter cream filling with chocolate ganache coating. Really good!! I am so happy I came and will visit again when the come back to Ogunquit! You must try it when in town. You'll be glad you did. read more

My wife and I vacation in Ogunquit often, and this is the first time we've tried Pepper's Seafood. OMG is it good. So good that we ate dinner there two nights in a row. Pepper's Seafood is in downtown Ogunquit. Our vacation this year was short (2 nights) but if it was extended we would have gone back at least one more time. I am a lobster roll (buttered) fanatic. Mine was the best I've ever had. Perfect amount of butter on the roll so that it was not overly buttered. There was heaps of lobster in the roll, and it was delicious. I also love lightly fried scallops, and Pepper's offers an appetizer sized portion. Just right with my lobster roll. Pepper's is on my list when we return for our next vacation. If you love good seafood...if you love lobster rolls (they have 4 types, I believe)....if you love really good fried seafood...pay Pepper's Seafood a visit. I think you'll be very satisfied. read more

We chose to spend our family dinner here and it was terrible service and food. Our waiter couldn't answer questions about the food and she kept forgetting certain things. She even forgot to have one person order. We were a big party but we were not being difficult, we were very patient. Aside from the service, the food tasted terrible. Not one person was satisfied with their meal. However we ate it because our father wanted to take us somewhere to celebrate our family. We paid $400 for crappy service and distasteful food. I would not recommend this place at all. read more

Fantastic Lunch!!! We had a wonderful meal here while staying in Ogunquit for several days. We started with Crabcakes that were excellent. Then, at the recommendation of our server, my husband had the Weekend Special of Lobster Fettuccine (sorry, not sure if this is the correct name of the dish, as it was on a separate menu only good through Sept 28th). It was phenomenal, with a spinach, garlic, butter sauce that they could bottle and sell, it was THAT good! I had the Cranberry Chicken Walnut Wrap, which was also good. But we couldn't get enough of the Lobster Fettuccine, which I was dipping my fries in...so, so good! Quick, friendly service. A choice of either indoor or patio seating. I'm not sure why this place wasn't PACKED, like other restaurants in town. We'd HIGHLY recommend it. read more

The restaurant has a great back story but the service is appalling. The hostess was rude and the manager Quinn couldn't care less. We ate almost only soup and it took over an hour to get it. The owner needs to make changes very badly. I almost never give 1 star but it can't be helped. I enjoyed my soup and the gumbo was good. However, the lobster we added to the spinach dip was horrible. This is not what you would expect in Maine. The ambiance is ok but it was clear the locals were served first and treated differently. I'm not saying you shouldn't respect the locals but come on, tourists are your bread and butter. I would also say the bathrooms are unisex and dirty old men just walk in on the women. This is ridiculous! How are you supposed to use the bathroom when you may have someone barge in on you. I will not be returning. read more

Food was definitely fresh and good. However, I felt for the price we did not get what we paid for. I got a lunch haddock basket and the piece of fish was less than a deck of cards. I dug for a second piece. There was none. They filled the basket with fries which again were tasty but basically $17 for a small piece of fish and fries. The seafood chowder was $30 and good but to me way overpriced. The peppers calamari was not hot and got soggy with the peppers on top. The steamers were good but again not worth the price of $28 for roughly 20 clams. Not sure I'd go back. I get it's ogunquit but there are other place you get what you deserve for the money. read more

We went here twice - once for lunch on a Sunday and the second time on a Monday evening. The lunch was A+ perfect. We ordered the clam chowder (bowl) which was enormous. The flavor was excellent, fresh, and creamy. We also ordered the blackened haddock sandwich with fries. Some restaurants go way overboard with the blackened spice and overcook the fish - but this was perfect in all respects. The waiter was delightful and friendly, making this a perfect experience -- which is why we went back for dinner. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. We were quickly seated and the waiter took our drinks order. The drinks arrived in a few moments, and then we became invisible. After almost a half hour, we searched for our waiter, who was in another room staring at their cash register, and asked what was going on with our order. He said he would check on it (no apology given) and disappeared for another 10 minutes. Again, we found him hunched over the cash register, and again no apology, no clue, no nothing. When I told him we were leaving, he blabbered on about the dinner being ready "soon" but said he had no idea how soon. I don't think we've ever just walked out of a restaurant, but we simply left the payment for drinks and walked out. My wife called when we got home and spoke to the manager, who was deeply apologetic. read more
