The location is a 10/10. Downtown Ogunquit on a breezy Friday afternoon is nothing short of New England charm: - small shops & boutiques, ice cream & fudge shoppes, and people watching galore are just some of the options that adorn Route 1. Unfortunately the meal was underwhelming. A 45 minute wait for a cheeseburger was a bit much considering the restaurant was not at all crowded and I was seated immediately. Also, I do think potato chips should be either salty or spicy, but not both. The chips that came with my meal were BOTH. The haddock stuffing was good, but small. Also, there must be a run on jumbo pretzels here in Maine, because every place seems to be out of them. So I decided to not order an appetizer since they were out of them. Pepper's Seafood has a lot of potential, but our experience was disappointing because of issues that seemed to stem from management rather than the staff working the floor. We arrived without a reservation and were told there would be about an hour wait. The host came across as a bit snarky, although he did offer us seats at the bar, which we appreciated. After being seated, it took about 30 minutes before anyone took our order, followed by another 40 minutes before our food arrived. The bartenders were working incredibly hard and were clearly doing everything they could to keep up with the rush, so I don't fault them at all. Unfortunately, one of our meals arrived cold and was extremely over-salted. The restaurant refunded that dish without hesitation, which I appreciated, but it shouldn't have left the kitchen that way in the first place. From what we could see, the kitchen was seriously backed up and the overall operation wasn't being managed well. The staff deserved better support because they were hustling nonstop while trying to deal with unhappy customers. I hope management addresses these issues because the employees are putting in the effort. With better kitchen execution and smoother operations, this could be a much better dining experience. read more

The food was a mixed bag. The fried scallops were excellent. Two of us had tuna and despite both of us requesting a quick sear, both plates were overcooked. Nearly ruined in fact. One plate of clams arrived cold. The last straw was the refusal to split the checks four ways (there were 10 in our party) It was a serious PITA trying to separate things out from the bill. We're in Ogunquit annually and stay 2 doors down. But most of us will not return here. The good news was that they were still open for the season when we visited Ogunquit in late October. So many establishments were already closed. We had clam chowder and a haddock sandwich with sweet potato fries for a late lunch. The entree was $32. The piece of haddock was small. Service wasn't the friendliest. It felt like our server threw things at us, the menu, the check, as if he were so busy. Well, the place wasn't busy. Also, I wished we had known about their daily special. The special for Sunday was $22 for an entree and dessert. I saw one diner having haddock and asparagus for the special. That piece of fish was bigger than ours. Excellent spot for our party of 7 (4 adults, 3 children ages 6-12). Clean space with great air conditioning. We sat in a booth. Great children's menu options. Freshly made chicken tenders were solid. Spinach artichoke dip and pretzel were decent starters. At the recommendation of our wonderful waitress, I went with a classic Maine lobster roll which was very fresh, very buttery (roll was a bit soggy with butter). Others in my party enjoyed the garden salad (although store-bought croutons were disappointing) and chicken Caesar salad wrap. Very kids friendly, casual and coastal vibe. It started during our drink order.....they ran out of the featured Rhubard Mojito, and the Lunch IPA before we began ordering food. We then ordered food. The appetizer came out and was delicious. The Lobster Stew was very good. The Shrimp Taco's were very good even the Fisherman's choice with Chicken Tenders and a wonderful blueberry bbq sauce. Then came the Gumbo........NOT sure what came out, but it was not in fact Gumbo.......No Roux.....No Spices.....No Colour,,,and NO Flavor. It was a HUGE MISS......ended up being a BLAND Stir fry. Unfortunately for the price and what was served was VERY disappointing. The Service was fine, not her fault. My husband and I were staying nearby during our roadtrip, the front desk at our hotel recommended Pepper's for lobster rolls. We arrived in the area late, and wanted a quick dinner stop. The vibes in the restaurant were fun, there was trivia going on and others having dinner as well. Service was great, our waitress was very friendly and checked up on us a couple times. I visited Pepper's my first night in Ogunquit. Everything so great that I made sure to come back a second time before my trip was over! The wait staff was friendly and attentive. While waiting for food my party was checked in on multiple times for beverage refills. The food came out 10-15 minutes after ordering, both on the busy weekend night and the slower weekday night I dined here. I tried the perkins cove lobster roll as well the seasonal special, a havarti & bacon lobster grilled cheese. I have tried a number lobster rolls across the Northeast and the one from Pepper's may just be my favorite. The portion of lobster both times was generous and cooked to the perfect texture. The seafood rolls and sandwiches include a side of fries or chips as well as coleslaw, and altogether it made for a very filling meal. Pepper's has gluten-free buns available for their lobster rolls and my partner noted that it was good. As a starter, I ordered the New England clam chowder which was delicious. There was a nice amount of clams and the chowder was not too salty. The New England clam chowder at Pepper's is made gluten-free by default. For drinks, there is a full bar, cocktail list, and a number of beers on tap. Pepper's has their own draft beer, the champ lager, which was refreshingly light and worth a try. Overall, a fantastic and consistent experience. I will definitely be returning to Pepper's next time I visit Ogunquit. read more

My wife and I vacation in Ogunquit often, and this is the first time we've tried Pepper's Seafood. OMG is it good. So good that we ate dinner there two nights in a row. Pepper's Seafood is in downtown Ogunquit. Our vacation this year was short (2 nights) but if it was extended we would have gone back at least one more time. I am a lobster roll (buttered) fanatic. Mine was the best I've ever had. Perfect amount of butter on the roll so that it was not overly buttered. There was heaps of lobster in the roll, and it was delicious. I also love lightly fried scallops, and Pepper's offers an appetizer sized portion. Just right with my lobster roll. Pepper's is on my list when we return for our next vacation. If you love good seafood...if you love lobster rolls (they have 4 types, I believe)....if you love really good fried seafood...pay Pepper's Seafood a visit. Had a good lunch at Peppers Seafood. It's located right in the heart of downtown Ogunquit, so it's a good place to stop while in the area. I started with a cup of clam chowder. It has that classic buttery taste which is my favorite type of chowder, so I really enjoyed this one. I then got their Lobster Roll, "Mount Aggie" style. What's cool about this place is you can order your lobster roll in different ways, which I've never seen before. The "Mount Aggie" style was mayo and hot butter--YUM. Fries were a perfect crisp and nice and hot. Lobster was good too, pretty good size and it came on a toasted roll. We ended with the Funny Bone cake which is made locally down the road at Bread & Roses Bakery. It's a chocolate cake layered with peanut butter cream. It was so good! Food took a little while to come out and it was a little pricey for a lunch but it was a good experience overall! They have only been open since summer 2023 so for being so new I was impressed! read more

Came to my favorite place by the sea in Ogunquit. Stayed near the center, so when walking around for a place for lunch/dinner, saw this place. The menu had seafood, which I love , plus other things. Decided to come and so glad I did! First, the place is very cute and cozy. The ocean and outdoor theme is all around with plants and pictures of lobster. Very bright inside and friendly waitstaff. Found out this is a new restaurant. Very new in fact, just opened last July. We started with the clam chowder soup. It was very good! One of my favorites so far My daughter and I had to get the lobster roll, which is called Mount Aggie, which I looked up and found it's a real mountain in York. Well Mount Aggie was a huge hit! It was served both hot and cold style, with good portions of lobster. Some rolls are low on the lobster but not this one! It came with French fries and cold slaw. All very good! We had dessert and wow, it blew me away. It was called Funny bone cake, a chocolate and peanut butter cream filling with chocolate ganache coating. Really good!! Fantastic Lunch!!! We had a wonderful meal here while staying in Ogunquit for several days. We started with Crabcakes that were excellent. Then, at the recommendation of our server, my husband had the Weekend Special of Lobster Fettuccine (sorry, not sure if this is the correct name of the dish, as it was on a separate menu only good through Sept 28th). It was phenomenal, with a spinach, garlic, butter sauce that they could bottle and sell, it was THAT good! I had the Cranberry Chicken Walnut Wrap, which was also good. But we couldn't get enough of the Lobster Fettuccine, which I was dipping my fries in...so, so good! Quick, friendly service. A choice of either indoor or patio seating. I'm not sure why this place wasn't PACKED, like other restaurants in town. We'd HIGHLY recommend it. read more

Food was definitely fresh and good. However, I felt for the price we did not get what we paid for. I got a lunch haddock basket and the piece of fish was less than a deck of cards. I dug for a second piece. There was none. They filled the basket with fries which again were tasty but basically $17 for a small piece of fish and fries. The seafood chowder was $30 and good but to me way overpriced. The peppers calamari was not hot and got soggy with the peppers on top. The steamers were good but again not worth the price of $28 for roughly 20 clams. Not sure I'd go back. The restaurant has a great back story but the service is appalling. The hostess was rude and the manager Quinn couldn't care less. We ate almost only soup and it took over an hour to get it. The owner needs to make changes very badly. I almost never give 1 star but it can't be helped. I enjoyed my soup and the gumbo was good. However, the lobster we added to the spinach dip was horrible. This is not what you would expect in Maine. The ambiance is ok but it was clear the locals were served first and treated differently. I'm not saying you shouldn't respect the locals but come on, tourists are your bread and butter. I would also say the bathrooms are unisex and dirty old men just walk in on the women. This is ridiculous! How are you supposed to use the bathroom when you may have someone barge in on you. I will not be returning. read more

We went here twice - once for lunch on a Sunday and the second time on a Monday evening. The lunch was A+ perfect. We ordered the clam chowder (bowl) which was enormous. The flavor was excellent, fresh, and creamy. We also ordered the blackened haddock sandwich with fries. Some restaurants go way overboard with the blackened spice and overcook the fish - but this was perfect in all respects. The waiter was delightful and friendly, making this a perfect experience -- which is why we went back for dinner. THIS WAS A HUGE MISTAKE. We were quickly seated and the waiter took our drinks order. The drinks arrived in a few moments, and then we became invisible. After almost a half hour, we searched for our waiter, who was in another room staring at their cash register, and asked what was going on with our order. He said he would check on it (no apology given) and disappeared for another 10 minutes. Again, we found him hunched over the cash register, and again no apology, no clue, no nothing. When I told him we were leaving, he blabbered on about the dinner being ready "soon" but said he had no idea how soon. I don't think we've ever just walked out of a restaurant, but we simply left the payment for drinks and walked out. A semi new place in the area and did not let me down! We came in for happy hour shrimp and couldn't believe how many we got and how flavorful and perfectly fried they were! We had Rachel and Lindsay as servers, both were very nice and helpful with our orders. We just stopped at Peppers after the theater at Ogunquit Playhouse. Of the many restaurants to choose from, we're very happy we came here. Not busy on this Sunday evening. Four of us sat in a spacious booth. Outside seating was also available. We were pleased with the unique and traditional menu choices and even more pleased with the quality of the meals we ordered.
