Our family loved our visit. It's a classic little spot in Perkins Cove, located right across from the water, so you can enjoy the ocean view while you eat at the outdoor picnic-style seating. It has that casual, coastal Maine feel that makes you want to linger. I ordered the cold lobster roll, which was generously filled and came with their homemade chips everything tasted very fresh and perfectly seasoned. I also had the clam chowder, which was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. My husband chose the lobster dinner with french fries and coleslaw and really enjoyed it, especially the freshness of the lobster. Our kids were just as happy with their meals. My daughter got the mayo-based lobster roll, which she loved, and my son ordered the fried clam strips with fries, which disappeared quickly from his plate. Overall, every dish we tried was very good, and the setting by the ocean made it a memorable meal for our whole family.

Best lobster roll for $32. Got butter and mayo. Worth the drive. Has good portion of meat but could be more.

Still a 5 out of 5. Here every year with family. Service is always great. We will keep coming back for years.

Lobster roll is overflowing and came w chowder! The twin lobsters were fresh, sweet and well cooked.

We visit Ogunquit yearly and were in OGT for a long Independence Day weekend. Our usual plan is to grab a lobster roll or two from next door for while we walk around the cove but there was a (ridiculously) long line. Instead, we sat down in the AC here and enjoyed a couple beers, twin lobsters, and lobster roll and chowder lunch special. We made the right choice here. We Loved it! The food was fresh, cooked well and the roll was full of sweet, succulent lobster. Now we have a new spot!! We actually returned here for one more roll before we left town.

Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak season. It's on the pricier side for something marketed as a "shack," but given how touristy the place is, it's somewhat expected. We've had quite a few lobster rolls during our East Coast trip, and honestly, the one here wasn't the best. The clam chowder that came with the meal was more watery than we're used to--not bad, just different. The lobster stew had generous chunks of meat, but the cup was tiny and tasted mostly like cream. There's plenty of indoor seating, which is nice, but when things get busy, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and not the most patient. Overall, a decent stop if you're nearby, but probably not worth going out of the way for.

Quick service! Lobster rolls are 32$ each!! its pretty normal for it to be expensive.. but the portions were a bit smaller than what we had earlier in Boston for the same price.. Tasted good with beer..

I'm not the biggest lobster roll fan, as I find that they often don't have much flavor for the cost, but I figured while visiting Ogunquit it was a must-have. The Lobster Shack was running a $32 lunch special including a lobster roll and a cup of clam chowder, so I ordered it to-go and took it down by the water. The lobster roll was GREAT. A huge amount of lobster, nice crisp on the roll, and good flavor. The clam chowder was decent and did the job, but I've definitely had better. It was pretty thin and had a lot of oil. If I returned, I'd skip the chowder and just go with the roll. Service was fast for my to-go order even despite the line down the street at lunchtime. Definitely recommend parking outside Perkins Cove and walking down to it, since you're unlikely to find parking near any of the businesses in the cove itself.

Serving up all things Lobster in a cozy haunt. Located at Perkins cove Ogunquit , we walked into this tiny little spot and we paid upfront to order our meal. We ordered the Lobster roll & Lobster stew .The service was was prompt and the food came out quick. The Roll was quite small and didn't have enough lobster meat to share. Lobster Stew tasted good with chunks of lobster meat . While lobster is pricey , our meal didn't offer much value for money given the size and quantity. Ordering your own meal would be a wise idea. This is one of those local joints to try to support a local family run business.

This is my family's go to stop in Perkins Cove. We make annual summer trips up to Maine just for a nice walk through Ogunquit and a scrumptious meal at The Lobster Shack. You will not be disappointed by anything on their menu, but I always stick to my usual - a lobster roll combo with seafood chowder. The lobster rolls are filled with fat chunks of fresh Maine lobster - not like other lobster rolls that only contain small pieces of lobster claw meat. The interior is simple with bench style tables and you order at the front before sitting down. There usually line out the door but the wait is worth it. I've also taken my meal to go and just sat outside on a bench or a picnic table.

Plus, the broccoli it came with was cooked so well that my kids gobbled it up. Service was very helpful, attentive, and friendly. We arrived without a reservation and were told there would be about an hour wait. The host came across as a bit snarky, although he did offer us seats at the bar, which we appreciated. After being seated, it took about 30 minutes before anyone took our order, followed by another 40 minutes before our food arrived. The bartenders were working incredibly hard and were clearly doing everything they could to keep up with the rush, so I don't fault them at all. Unfortunately, one of our meals arrived cold and was extremely over-salted. The restaurant refunded that dish without hesitation, which I appreciated, but it shouldn't have left the kitchen that way in the first place. From what we could see, the kitchen was seriously backed up and the overall operation wasn't being managed well. The staff deserved better support because they were hustling nonstop while trying to deal with unhappy customers. I hope management addresses these issues because the employees are putting in the effort. With better kitchen execution and smoother operations, this could be a much better dining experience.

We sat at a table by the window on the first floor. We overheard that there is an upstairs bar, not sure if they also seat folks for dinner there. We were able to place an order right after getting settled. We enjoyed the Sun mocktail, charred beet salad, mac and cheese, fried codd sandwich, steak frites, and corn ravioli (without the pancetta). My spouse is gluten free and I am vegetarian so we are always looking for restaurants that can accommodate both. The charred beet salad was good but I think dressed a bit too heavily. I thought the corn ravioli and sun mocktail were both great. The kids (ages 1.5 and 5) liked the Mac and cheese and fried cod sandwich. They did not have any appropriate booster seats for the 1.5 year old so my spouse held him. My spouse loved the steak frites but I think wished had a few more "frites" given the amount of interest from the younger crowd. Our waiter was wonderful and also brought some orange slices from the bar for the kids. We were very grateful. We decided to go nearby for ice cream after dinner, but I heard there is a dessert menu.

Gosh, you just hope you made a memorable choice for the right reasons. We did - we both felt we not only received value for our dining dollars, we felt cared for by the staff and satiated by the kitchen. People like sitting outside - so the reservations reflected that and we could only be seated inside. Was not a disappointment to be seated inside. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had a steak sandwich and my dining partner had a chicken sandwich. Both were really tasty and well prepared. We only had water to drink and that was not a problem. I feel many times if I don't order an app or a drink a server becomes less friendly. That wasn't our experience here. I don't believe in over rewarding a place - but I feel a 4.5 out of 5 is appropriate. Since I can't give that - I rounded up to 5.

The menu varies by season and always reflects a local Maine touch. The appetizers are exquisite (Shellfish Tower, Shrimp Cocktail, Oysters, Salads and Chowders) and the entrees always tasteful whether its the lobster, salmon, scallops, which are always fresh , or the beef, chicken or duck dishes, all are perfectly cooked as ordered. The wine list is ample and if there is something that you want for a special occasion, you should call in advance and they may be able to order it. No guarantees but they try! And the desserts, well my mouth is watering as I write this. Please bring back the sticky toffee pudding!!! We have always found the wait staff to be professional, patient and polite. Dana and Javier have done a great job juggling the natural challenges in this area. Trainees shadow the pros and they learn how to handle the range of high-low and no maintenance guests. We have seen them all! The ambience is warm and inviting and of course, the many views of the cobalt blue Atlantic and Marginal Way from the roof deck and most tables simply wraps the entire dining experience into a magical evening. If you have never gone, plan your parking because like all great restaurants tucked into small seacoast towns in Maine, its is in short supply, and if you can't find it, there are pay-for parking options within a short 2 minute walk. So, all in all, you must take the time to visit M.C. Perkins Cove Restaurant when you are in Ogunquit.

My martini was perfect, but food left a lot to be desired. I was debating between the mac & cheese (without lobster) and the stuffed leeks. The server convinced me to get the stuffed leeks. When they came out, the leeks themselves/the filling were room temp (like not hot or cold), but the sauce around it was hot, which I thought was odd. It almost seemed like the leeks had been sitting out for a while and then the sauce was poured on at the last second. I didn't want to sound crazy by asking the server if the dish should be warm, so shortly after receiving, I asked to order the kids mac & cheese. It was $16!!! For such a small portion. I didn't even finish 2/3 of the leeks and was kind of hoping to get it taken off our bill since I paid $28 for something I didn't end up eating due to how it was served/worry about food being left out and not properly heated. We had a hard time choosing where to eat because everything around the area had like three stars, but would come highly recommend recommended. This is one I think I would say could be skipped! My friend got the lobster croquettes and said the croquettes were warm and the lobster was cold. Not sure if that was intentional?
