We drove down the road a bit and sat at some picnic tables overlooking the harbor to dine. It was really windy, but I was happy with my bisque. They threw in a lobster roll bun for me at the last minute and that really was appreciated. It was so good and this might be the best way for me to enjoy lobster. Footbridge lobster vs Lobster Shack review Location: Footbridge lobster is located right next door to Lobster shack right by the footbridge. Seating: Footbridge js TAKE OUT ONLY with a big window you walk up to order and pickup. There are some benches nearby you might get lucky or you can stand by the bridge and eat. Lobster shack has seating and bathrooms. Price: On a Monday post lunch hour, I ordered the Lobster roll with clam chowder soup. Foot bridge is cheaper if you buy the combo outside of the lunch special hour compared to lobster shack. If you buy during lunch hour, they both are about similar in pricing. FOOD: The biggest difference between the two was TEXTURE. Footbridge offered a bouncy/chewier texture while Lobster Shack offered a softer easier to pull apart lobster. Secondly, the bread is slightly smaller at footbridge but the meat is 5oz almost singular piece versus lobster rolls multiple smaller pieces. Clam chowder was similar in the sense that footbridge had a thicker milkier consistency like most New England clam chowder while Lobster shack had more meat/substance but thinner liquid base with a somewhat coconut type taste. Both lobsters and clam chowder are unique and tasty in their own way and all boils down to preference. At this moment in time, I prefer footbridge for the lobster roll and the clam chowder at lobster shack. I prefer thinner chowder with more clean seafood flavor that isn't masked by flour thickener, so this hit all the marks for me. It was a bit pricey but worth it. There are sauces and napkins to grab and a sink to wash your hands. The staff were all really nice and helpful. They were patient and when we wanted to order more we just added onto the order to pay later instead of making us wait in line. We got the large Clam Chowder and this was pretty watery. Not the best, wouldn't recommend ordering that. We got Steamers, these were nice, clean and sweet. We got the Lobster Roll made with mayo instead of butter and they made this pretty well, not watery at all. The Lobster BLT was probably the favorite. It has the perfect ratio. We also got the Fish Tacos which were on corn tortillas which are typically not my favorite. We visit Ogunquit yearly and were in OGT for a long Independence Day weekend. Our usual plan is to grab a lobster roll or two from next door for while we walk around the cove but there was a (ridiculously) long line. Instead, we sat down in the AC here and enjoyed a couple beers, twin lobsters, and lobster roll and chowder lunch special. We made the right choice here. We Loved it! Parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during peak season. It's on the pricier side for something marketed as a "shack," but given how touristy the place is, it's somewhat expected. We've had quite a few lobster rolls during our East Coast trip, and honestly, the one here wasn't the best. The clam chowder that came with the meal was more watery than we're used to--not bad, just different. The lobster stew had generous chunks of meat, but the cup was tiny and tasted mostly like cream. There's plenty of indoor seating, which is nice, but when things get busy, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and not the most patient. Everything about this place was spot on! We arrived close to 6pm on a Friday night with 9 in our party and there was no wait! The tables turn fairly quickly as your order at the counter and your food is delivered to the table you select. They have large picnic tables, so table sharing is easy if needed. Beer selection was good. Food selection was great and prices for a tourist area were reasonable. We all loved what we ordered. Very tasty and well prepared. Staff is very friendly and helpful. A huge amount of lobster, nice crisp on the roll, and good flavor. The clam chowder was decent and did the job, but I've definitely had better. It was pretty thin and had a lot of oil. If I returned, I'd skip the chowder and just go with the roll. Service was fast for my to-go order even despite the line down the street at lunchtime. Definitely recommend parking outside Perkins Cove and walking down to it, since you're unlikely to find parking near any of the businesses in the cove itself. read more

Came here the day after trying the lobster roll at Bite into Maine so maybe my standards were too high. Just found the roll here to be okay. The lobster itself wasn't very flavorful. It was priced a few dollars cheaper at $28 Added a clam chowder for $4 (lunch combo). I enjoyed it but not it's not the creamy style. We arrived at opening so there's no wait. But it did get busy. Note it's right in the middle of the touristy area so parking can be tough and expensive. We lucked out because we had just walked the olgunquit narrow and got a free spot at the other end. I have a hard time giving a 5 star review to a place that has the word "shack" in it but, you know what, the Lobster Shack in Ogunquit Maine is the real deal!!! And it is in fact in a shack. Honestly, how this building survives the next Nor'Easter is beyond me! You can tell the tiny building is old and probably held together with spit & glue ( that was NOT an appetizing reference but you get the picture). It's like walking back into time 20 or 30 years. But the sautéed - not fried - haddock sandwich was a game changer for me. First of all, there was so much fish on that sandwich!!! HUGE SERVING!!! And the flavor was outstanding! I could just tell that my haddock had been enjoying an Atlantic Ocean swim that morning (or at least the day before). That sandwich was so good! The bun was soft but strong. The tartar sauce was tangy but not overpowering. This place knows how to cook fish! Okay so I had to wait ten or fifteen minutes to get it - SO WHAT - it was cooked right in front of me after I ordered and, in the meantime, I enjoyed my spouse and the pounding surf a short walk away. I LOVED IT, And the staff from the cash register guy to the servers are Maine's finest! I'm not sure what this place is like in the summer when the crowds descend.
