Came by on Sunday while in the area for some well-earned brunch. I've been meaning to come to Romer's to try their weekend Benny for some time now. If you haven't heard, it's $5 before 11 on weekends, and comes with basil brunch potatoes. I asked to substitute the meat from my Benny and was offered avocado instead - excellent. This location in a newer part of Vancouver can be a little tricky to find. Once you do though, there's a nice little parking lot, and if that fills up a good amount of free street parking. I was greeted at the door by some very friendly hostesses. Hoping for a quiet spot and somewhere to charge my phone, they directed me to a seat at the bar. This worked perfectly for my needs. The bar affords a nice view of the restaurant, with a TV well placed in front. I should note I've been to Romer's several times before, but always for dinner at the West 4th ave location. That is to say I'm familiar with the chain and its offerings. On this morning the potatoes were a little on the hard side, and had cooled. They didn't have any basil to speak of. On the other hand the Bennys were both tasty and filling. Some of the most creative and interesting burgers in town. Made with fresh ingredients and cooked to order. Their brioche buns are excellent - or you can substitute for gluten-free or lettuce bun instead. Burgers are à la carte, so choose your sides separately or share with friends. The cheesy spinach kale dip is great, with a generous serving of both dip and chips (which are freshly made tortilla chips). Calamari breading is thin and crispy. It's mixed with fried onions and jalapenos as well. I usually order the Man's Man burger, but also enjoyed the Rodeo Star which was new to the menu. The ancho coffee spice and chili BBQ sauce had a great flavour. Combined with smoked cheddar and maple smoked bacon, it's a winner. Drunken donuts are delicious. You get 10 of em, still hot, covered in icing sugar, and served with 3 dipping sauces: Kahlua and Nutella, limoncello, and maple whisky. Limoncello has a more jam-like consistency, while the others are more liquidy. They're all good in different ways, and I found myself rotating through them. Service I found friendly but a little slow. On a warm-ish spring day, we were seated at a table inside but later asked to move outside as tables were clearing up. The waitress said it's a rule not to switch tables after ordering food... And then price. A burger will set you back $13-14 and a side $3-5. Not ridiculous but it can easily add up with an appetizer, a couple drinks and a dessert. I'm not saying it isn't worth it though. I had a very decent brunch here on a rainy Saturday. We came specifically for the $5 classic eggs benny deal before 11 am. As advertised, if you order before 11 am (they open at 10 am), you can get the classic eggs benedict for $5. I honestly wasn't expecting much, because of the price point. I asked if I could have a salad instead of potatoes, but they said that would be an extra charge, so I left it with potatoes. The benedicts came pretty fast, and each plate had 2 benedicts on Canadian bacon, some thinly sliced crispy potatoes, and a slice of tomato. For the price, the benedicts were pretty good. They tasted like an average eggs benedict, with the hollandaise sauce not being too heavy and the Canadian bacon was a decent thickness. What I did find interesting was the menu description of the eggs benny - I believe it said it came with a tomato salad. I wonder if the slice of tomato was what the salad was? Oh well, it's still a nice touch, and I really can't ask for much for $5. This dish was exactly what I expected it to be - an average eggs benedict, but at an excellent price. We also got a $5 Caesar and $5 mimosa, which were on special for brunch, I believe. These were both very tasty, and I loved how many garnishes came with my Caesar. However, I do think that these had almost no alcohol (if any) as I usually am pretty sensitive to alcohol, yet I didn't feel a thing. I also was able to get the complimentary drunken mini donuts dessert. If you do a survey at the end of your meal, you get an email for free donuts on your next visit. This dessert usually costs $9 off the menu. It is 10 freshly fried mini donuts that come with 3 different dipping sauces: lemon curd, maple bourbon, and nutella whiskey (may have gotten the liqueurs wrong). These were so fresh, hot, and tasty, and my favourite dip was the whiskey maple. Service was a little slow as it was a nearly full restaurant, including the patio. However it was friendly and pleasant. There is a parking lot right outside the restaurant, and if that's full, some street parking is available as well. The weekend farmer's market may also land on the same weekend if you come for brunch. Overall, if I'm looking for a decent breakfast in this area before 11 am, I'll come to Romer's. Tucked away River District, a neighbourhood I barely go to, Romer's is a comfy restaurant with bar food and drinks. This was my second time here, the first time only being for cocktails, so I didn't get a chance to try the food. CALAMARI - not crispy, and frankly way too peppery. Served with fried onions and jalapeños. Watch out for those jalapeños because they're super spicy! Probably one of the lowest quality calamari I've had. I wouldn't order this again. MAGIC MUSHROOM BURGER - Quite flavour and tasty, so I can see why this was labelled as a menu favourite. Beef patty would've been better if it was juicer. One thing I do like about this place is the service, as all the servers are super kind. I've been to the Kerr location several times because I love their food especially the burgers. I came here on a Wednesday evening for dinner for the first time. I usually eat here during the day. I love that they use organic meat and the burgers are juicy and flavorful. Tonight the burgers were dry. What a disappointment and a waste of a good organic patty. The brisket was also dry and bland. My friend had the standard burger which was also dry. Our onion rings were a little overfried that it was crunchy and a bit hard on our teeth. The onions looked dried. It pulled out and was not chewable. It looked like the first layer of the onion that you usually discard because it's too thin and dry. The table next to us had onion rings which looked better in color. You can see how dark (possibly burnt) it is in my photo. We paid $9.95 for 4 pieces of the TNT sushi bomb. It looked so bare on the long plate. Then we read the Happy Hour menu which said you get 5 pieces of the TNT sushi bomb for $6.95. We questioned our server and she said she didn't understand that either. I initially thought the cook snuck one for himself off our plate because it looked so stupid with 4 dinky pieces. You can even see the photo for yourself. Overall the food was subpar to what I had in the past. I hesitate coming back for dinner but I may return for an earlier meal as it was more agreeable. The wait on a Friday afternoon was surprisingly not very long! My friend and I waited about 10 minutes and we were promptly seated inside. The patio is super popular so be prepared to wait a while if you're looking for patio dining. I had ordered the Cedar House Rules Burger which is a chicken burger with bacon, brie, avocado and orange mint aioli (with greens + tomato). I opted for a side of fries. I was a bit disappointed because the chicken was slightly dry and I couldn't take a good proper bite of it. I decided to use my fork and knife to help with that. My friend ordered the Man's Man burger and also opted for fries. He didn't say too much about his burger and he said it was good. We also shared onion rings which were pretty standard, but the dill dip it came with was amazing. It is a bit pricy as the sides are not included with the price of the burger. I do recommend getting their beef burgers as I recall it being much better than the chicken burger I had ordered. Used to be a huge fan of the Romer's location on 4th, so I was excited when I saw a new restauraunt in the River District, a little closer to me. However, this location doesn't like up to the hype as much. I've only eaten here since COVID began, so I can't speak to dine-in, only takeout or delivery. Unlike the other location, most times I've ordered here, by the time I get my food, things are cold. While I can't blame them for delivery, it seems like this shouldn't be an issue for takeout. Likewise, ive found that this location doesn't do a great job at packaging the food, so it ends up a bit of a mess when I go to eat it. Generally the location on 4th does a good job at packing things tightly so it doesnt move around during travel. That all being said, Romers burgers are still delicious. The Chorizodor and the Magic Mushroom are my two favourites, with the Flyin' Mayan as a close runner up. The menu changes up every year or so, keeping the crowd favourites and trying new things. Not sure id recommend the trip to this location if you dont already live in the River District, but Romer's burgers are probably some of the tastiest in Vancouver in my experience. While we've been to Romer's Burger many times in the past, it's been quite a while since we last visited. Their location in SE Vancouver has been around for quite some time but now, with all of the development on the Fraser Flats, getting here and finding parking can be a headache. In any case, we made the trek over and found one of the last few parking spaces available in their lot (and it was barely 5pm when we visited). Now, you would expect that we'd order a burger while we were here given their name but we weren't really in the mood for a burger and wanted to try some of their other offerings. With a name like Voodoo Meatballs ($10.95) and with a description which states that it comes with "wicked voodoo sauce", you'd not be faulted with expecting this dish to be seriously spicy. However, as our (somewhat overly-friendly) waiter explained, it wasn't spicy at all and they just used the work "wicked" to say it was a really good sauce. The spiced pork and beef meatballs turned out okay... definitely not spicy though. We also ordered their Pickle Jar ($5.95) with house-brined pickled and crushed red chilies and Brussels Sprouts ($9.95) with Parmigiano-Reggiano. These items were both spot on and descriptionally accurate. Best dish of the night was the caramelized Brussels sprouts. I opted for the To Die For Mac Cheese ($13.95 + $2.95 for chorizo sausage). As with the meatballs, the name of this dish was a bit overly exaggerated. I had high expectations for this dish but was underwhelmed with the luke-warm temperature that it was served at. While it was quite cheesy, the temperature really threw things off. We decided to bring most of this dish home and, when we reheated it, it was better... still not "to die for" but at least enjoyable. While I was a bit disappointed with this last visit, I do have fond memories of their unique burger offerings so I might just stick to those items instead of going with their non-burger items. read more

Came here for dine out 2016 and I split the dine out menu + a regular menu item with a friend. For the dine out, we got the calamari appetizer which were okay...although not very flavourful and pretty oily. For the entree, we ordered the jerk chicken tacos (comes with fries) and these were also very bland. They come in a roti shell and this was similar to a tasteless taco shell while the chicken was moist but again, not jerky and the mango salsa/cole slaw made no impact. On the other hand, I actually loved the fries as they were light and fluffy on the inside and not too greasy. Overall, I would not suggest ordering these tacos here but I am a huge sucker for tacos so it did satiate me. We also shared a standard burger and this better but not by a whole lot and was extremely messy to eat. The R sauce was flying everywhere and the bottom became a pretty soggy mess. Finally the best part of the meal was the drunken donuts that came with dine out. These were very fresh and light but deliciously sinful at the same time. Overall, I would not suggest ordering tacos here and to stick to the burgers, but I am a huge sucker for tacos so it did satiate me. I came here on a first date ... the location is a bit tucked away. I didn't even know this place existed until my date said he wanted to try this place out. It's right by the water ... I went during late summer and it was after a good rain. Sitting by the window ... OMG ... there were GNATS everywhere!!! The burgers are definitely gourmet and at gourmet prices. If I was by myself I would've turned around and walked out although I was with a friend that I haven't seen in years that I wanted to spend time with. Here's the kicker I asked for English breakfast tea and milk, tea arrived no milk I had to ask the server for milk finally she brought the milk in a container half the size of a container you would put ketchup in, to dip your fries in, seriously you don't have a proper container to put milk in. For reference it would've been half the size of this container in picture The server did not ask us at any time how the food was, to me that just states they don't care if you like the food or not, it's only about making money. Came here for dinner on Thursday with a friend around 7:30 PM. We were seated at a small table in the corner out in the atrium. I thought it was really loud and it might be due to the fact that the area was enclosed by glass panels and so all the sounds were trapped in one space. There wasn't a lot of interaction between us and the server except the usual questions regarding drinks and food. I ordered the raspberry smash mojito, Jamaican Rasta bowl, and drunken donuts to share. I think a lot of restaurants are ditching the straws because of environmental issues but I had a hard time drinking my mojito. The mint leaves always got in the way when I tried to drink it and I had to spit them back into my cup when it happened. Another problem was that I couldn't stir my drink, so it got really sweet near the end and not a lot of mint flavour as a result. I just wonder if there are any alternatives to using straws, maybe a stirring stick? I don't know. I liked how my Rasta bowl had so much variety to it. There were roti, salad, rice, and spicy jerk chicken with vegetables. I thought each portion was well balanced and was more enjoyable than a burger. The salad was good, it was refreshing and complimented the strong flavour of the jerk chicken really well. The chicken had a good kick to it, the spiciness was just right for me. There were enough chicken to go with the rice. However, I thought the rice was too hard and dry. I didn't notice the "coconut and pineapple" in my rice, and there were very little quinoa compared to the rice. There were a lot of yams though, which were soft and tasty. No complaints on the roti, just buttery goodness. Overall, I enjoyed the bowl because of the different elements and how well they worked together. If you are visiting Romer's, you have to order the drunken donuts. The mini donuts came out hot. They offered three kinds of dipping sauce: lemon, nutella, and caramel. Personally, I thought the caramel dipping sauce was way too watery, so I avoided that one. The other two had a thicker consistency; I liked the nutella dip the most. The mini donuts themselves were soft enough to cut through with a fork. They were addicting, we almost wanted to get seconds. Like my friend said, the donuts were more cakey than doughy. A "rushing" waitress ruined the night. We went there for dinner. Everything was fine but the "ending" was definitely bad taste. At around 8:40pm, a waitress was clearly absent minded about filling our order. Apparently, she (on the receipt, the cashier name was Jong Sul Kim and transaction number 411246) was rushing to "close" the place down. Not only does this place have amazing food but a beautiful view with it. I must say I expected to pay over 70$ with a starter, 2 meals, drinks and more drinks, and a dessert but I only paid 50! Took a chance on a new restaurant and tried Romers on Kerr through skip the dishes this past week. let me just say--I have never been so disgusted in my life. My order arrived with average food---(cold coconut Thai appetizer and soggy fries) but the real kicker? When my dinner date opened their burger box and went to pull it out...only to have a half dead fly CRAWL out of the sandwich!! Tried to call the restaurant but they just hung up and when I contacted SkipTheDishes they told me the restaurant was unreachable.
