We live nearby near Everett Crowley Park and decided to go out to watch the Super Bowl. We had a reservation and were seated in the bar area right away by the hostess. They were busy! Staff were constantly turning over tables on the patio, with patrons coming and going. The back room was full and the only place with heat. The patio and bar area was the only place with empty tables but very cold. Almost everyone in the bar area had jackets on. The table beside us put their jackets after they ate. My husband put his on half way through the meal. Our server Mateo was excellent. He was attentive and friendly at all times. Everyone in his section was taken care of; no one waited with empty glasses or plates. Mateo has great energy. We ordered the fish tacos (2) with truffle fries, man's man sliders (2) with regular fries, and mini donuts. Food was delicious and hot. My husband liked the sliders so much, he ordered another. We've come here a few times before and always sat in the back room. Window seats offer beautiful views of the Fraser River and path along the river. We gave 4 stars because the bar area was cold with the patio door being kept open. We left at halftime cuz it was too cold. read more

Service was still okay and decor seems similar but overall vibes are not as great as before. They stopped offering the special weekend brunch menu so I haven't visited for a while. Recently we tried their three course option and happy hour menus but the fruit flies and black flies really bothered me so this spot is not my top choice when dining by River District. And if you do choose to visit, stick to ordering their wide selection of beers as best menu choices. They offer beer flights in trio and you can try out different seasonal varieties. read more

The burger was good but it could be better. I got the wagyu truffle burger and B got the Wicked Cheeseburger and N got the Man's man Burger. N said his burger left a frozen taste in his mouth or some strange taste. B was expecting his burger to be spicy and it was not. My wagyu truffle smelled good but it was not as flavorful compared to truffle burger from elsewhere. On top of all that my burger was lacking in sauce. Their fries were tasty. B ordered a side of peppercorn sauce and they were quite generous on the sauce amount. The restaurant is somewhat hidden and out of nowhere. They do have a parking lot that is free for diners. Stopped for Happy hour. The food menu for happy jour looked more limited than before. I had fish taco which: surprisingly big and contains lots of vegetables, sauce and big chunk of fish. I enjoyed very much. Man's Man slider: small but well made. Meat and bacon cooked perfectly. Tomato , fried onion, and sauce are sandwiched. My friend had a magic mushroom burger. Romer's Burger Bar in the River District is one of four locations across Metro Vancouver. The other locations are in Port Moody, Kitsilano, and Lynn Valley. The River District location has a nice heated patio overlooking the Fraser River. If it gets too cold you can ask for a blanket to stay warm on the patio. Overall they serve good food. They're known for their burgers and it's true their burgers are delicious. Attentive service. Be prepared, most mains are over $20 each. read more

You're greeted by a hostess who seems to be doing everything but hosting--cleaning glasses or wiping tables before eventually finding time to seat you. The décor is unapologetically dated, and the spiders and dust-covered furniture give the place the feel of an abandoned lakeside cabin from a zombie movie. Service is both slow and inattentive. When the food finally arrives, it's initially welcomed only because its aroma helps mask the restaurant's odd, musky smell. Unfortunately, the dishes don't redeem the experience: nachos arrive stacked in precarious towers that collapse onto the table, and the burgers are overcooked and poorly seasoned. By the time the bill comes, the inflated prices leave you wondering if they accidentally charged you for a family of five. Romer's used to be a favourite burger joint but over the years it has changed, some good and some not so good. What I like most about Romer's Burger Bar in South Vancouver is the patio with the great view of the Fraser River - love seeing the tug boats move things about. The waterfront walk way also offers a nice stroll after a big meal. Luckily for the past 2 visits, service was a hit and the burgers decent. I'll still come to Romer's as the location is accessible for many of my friends, free parking, big patio and great views. Our visit this week, the Wicked Deadly Cheese and Nashville Chicken burgers were good. The Mushroom Burger was ok as the patty was smaller but the truffle fries were tasty. The Sangria was good. The not so good and needs improvements: fries are smaller in portion, drier and some burnt, a little pricey for the burgers compared to others burger joints and service can be a miss at times like no one greeting us at the front door and having to ask for water. read more

Stopped by for happy hour and left full and happy. Inside, it was quite busy as there was a large group, so we sat outside. Their patio is enclosed, with plastic screens, so it doesn't keep out the cold air. They offered us blankets, which was nice. I noticed they had heaters in the center of the patio but it didn't look like it was turned on. Other than that, the patio was nice. They turned on the string lights and it was a nice view of the sunset and the river. Servers were friendly and attentive. The happy hour menu has a decent amount of food and drink options. We ended up with calamari, tater tots, and sangria. We also ordered chicken tenders and fries. The sangria was stronger than I thought it would be. I could definitely taste the red wine. The food items came out hot and crisp. Tater tots weren't heavily loaded with sour cream and cheese, which I liked. It let the tater tots remain crispy. The calamari was a decent size, although I wish there was more pieces of squid than jalapenos and onions. I did like that it came with two sauces, tazitki and honey sambal. Romer's is consistently good for their burgers and garlic fries. I have been here a couple of times during happy hours and they are great. Timing and pricing wise. You can still find HH food and drinks for under $10, unlike similar places where their HH offers are like normal pricing. So it is fairly busy here during weekday HH though I have been lucky in getting a table without reservations. The drinks are refreshing and the food is really good. My new favorite here is the tuna tataki. I'm still thinking about it and how many can I demolish in future visits. The garlic fries is a must order as they sprinkle actual minced garlic over it. Get the burgers on the regular menu. I did not really like the feature burger on my last visit which was the Thanksgiving burger. The description was attractive but the stuffing was too bready. I do like this location as the Fraser River can make a pretty view especially when the sun is setting. Parking is available on site though the lot is not super big. read more

I had the big breakfast and the food was decent I wouldn't say top notch though . And the day I went somehow they were not stocked with orange juice. I wanted to love Romer's since it's one of the closest restaurants to me, but I've been here twice and both times food and drinks were okay but nothing outstanding. Most recently, my friend and I dropped by for an impromptu happy hour / dinner since we were picnicking in the nearby park. There's plenty of seating here, both indoors and outdoors. Since it was such a beautiful and warm day out, almost everyone was sitting on their patio. Happy hour is offered daily 3-6 and 9-close with both discounted food and drinks. The hh food menu in particular is huge. I started with one of their daily drink deals, a mango mojito, for only $5.95. It was okay. I also ordered hh calamari for $8.95. I didn't realize, but you also get an assortment of other fried items like onions and jalapenos with the dish, while the actual portion of calamari was smaller than I was expecting. My friend got the hh Valentina tots ($6.95) and really enjoyed that. For my main, I went with the Magic Mushroom burger ($17.25) and substituted gravy for the Boursin cheese. I'm honestly not a huge burger person, but I figured since they're known for their burgers, I should try it out. It was okay, but I thought the patty lacked flavor, even with the portabello mushrooms and gravy. We paid over $80 total for one drink, one hh appetizer, and a burger per person. Only took a few years, but finally got to try their food. The burgers are pretty solid, though they are a bit pricey. The double smash burger had a decent amount of fixings. Guessing the smashed part was why the patty barely held together. The fries are thick cut (not wedge though), and the garlic option is seriously tasty. With that said, the burger itself didn't really stand out compared to the other chains (Earls, Cactus Club etc.). In other words, not a bad choice if one is in the area, but not worth a special trip out. The outdoor patio is now covered, which is helpful on those rainy days. read more

I had a gift card for Romer's so we decided to walk over to try them out. We tried their Ahi Tuna Tataki, Spaghettini with Jim's Jumbo Meatballs, and their seasonal soup. Their Ahi Tuna Tataki did not look like the image they have on their website (we were expecting 5 wonton crisps), but it was our favourite dish of the three. The Spaghettini with Jim's Jumbo Meatballs was quite disappointing. There was something about the meatballs that we couldn't pinpoint while we were eating, but it didn't taste like meat at all and was very dry. At the end of our lunch, my partner and I came to the conclusion that it was probably beyond meat meatballs (even though it didn't say on the menu) because of the lack in flavour and juiciness. The garlic bread was pretty good. The seasonal soup was mediocre for $8.95. Overall, the experience wasn't great considering we spent $50 for a meal that didn't wow us. One of the servers who just got off his shift (a small Asian male) was sitting beside us and sniffing loudly every 10-15 seconds as if he had a stuffed up nose and wouldnt blow it.. it disgusted us so much and was so distracting that we couldnt even finish our meals and got up and left. My boyfriend and I have come here a few times now and the experience and the food have always been great!! They also have a dog friendly patio separate from a regular patio and the views are both facing the water. It was very sunny bring your shades! The burger he got was tasty however too much was going on in the burger, and the bottom bun came and was received soggy. I loved my fish tacos. Atmosphere is everything here. Meet with a friend at Romer's tonight and tried out their physical distancing outdoor patio. Upon walking to the restaurant it was confusing that there seemed to be two entrances that said "Wait here". Had to stand outside for awhile before a server came out and sat me to a fantastic small table outside on the grass. My friend and I shared an appetizer calamari, meatball starters, and Nashville chicken tacos with upgraded garlic fries. The calamari was average at best - it was luke warm and not very crunchy. The tzatziki sauce was good and the jalapenos hot though. The meatballs were good served with a tasty sauce. The Nashville tacos were okay - the chicken wasn't very spicy and was slightly dry. The sweet pickles were a nice touch though. However, the fries were disappointing. They looked like they were cooked in old oil, was hot but soggy, and were not too garlic in taste. The best part of the meal were the mini donuts as dessert. They were fresh, delicious, and the three dipping sauces were AMAZING! Service was decent and I felt safe with how far apart the tables were spaced out. However the food was pretty mediocre, which is too bad since I just moved into the neighbourhood. Actually a 2.5 star. It was Friday at 6 pm, and the restaurant was not half full, but no parking space in the lot. The service was pleasant and fairly prompt from beginning to end. In hindsight, it would have been better to have tried this restaurant during their happy hours (daily, 3pm-6pm and 9pm-closing) before doing a full dinner experience as the regular food pricing is a bit high for what you get, and food quality was inconsistent between their offerings. FOOD HIGHLIGHTS: Salt & pepper chicken wings - hot, juicy, and crispy. A great starter! Calamari - crisp and tasty with the two dipping sauces. Crispy fish tacos - though not a lot of fish content, the slightly crisped soft taco shell and toppings resulted in perfectly balanced flavours and textures. By far the best thing we ordered. Drunken (mini) donuts - a nice treat to share. The three dunking sauces were OK, but nothing spectacular. FOOD LOWLIGHTS: Nashville chicken burger - crisp but completely lacking flavour other than spicy. Magic mushroom (beef) burger & Wicked cheese (beef) burger - neither dry nor moist, these modest sized burgers were only passable. Nothing special about them except they were $17-$18 each! Makes you want to stick to making burgers at home for more flavour and value. Cod & Chips - seemingly large portion of fish, but it's 50% batter. Unfortunately, the batter was crisped on the outside with the inside batter undercooked and gummy. Otherwise, not much flavour, and the odd tasting tartar sauce did not help. Disappointed. Kennebec Fries - the fries are meaty thick. Fine by itself. The added toppings (+$1.50) of truffle oil or garlic (butter/oil) tasted okay, but it made the fries somewhat soggy. read more

This used to be my favourite burger joint, but I haven't been back in a long time due to the distance it is from my home. (Don't like their Yaletown or West 4th location) I was disappointed to say the least. The Man's Man burger is no longer as good as it used to be. *sigh* The bun was "cold", a lot less crispy onion on it then they used to put in it, patty was dry, and they're making the burger and fries portion smaller and smaller. However, it doesn't seem like there's a decrease in price either. *sigh* My mom ordered their Jimmy's Big Breakfast Burger. It was simply a "SOUR" mess. Their servers are still excellent and attentive! Ambiance is till great! But please, WHEN will the burgers go back to how it used to be or better? I no longer have a place where I can recommend people to get burgers in Vancouver anymore, so I feel a bit sad. read more

In support of DOVF, I decided to check out Romer's Dine Out Vancouver 2021 menu. Seared Smoked Salmon Sushi - The sushi is made with smoked salmon and seared with some Japanese mayo topped with a jalapeno. The jalapeno had a nice spicy kick to the sushi. However, the salmon was overcooked and the rice was quite hard which made it hard to enjoy. Steak Frites & Garlic Prawns -The sirloin steak is topped with wild Argentinean shrimps and served with a a side of fresh cut Kennebec fries. The shrimps were flavourful with the garlic sauce and complimented well with the steak. The steak however was well done when I had asked for a medium which resulted in it being tough and dry. Gluten Free Brownie -The brownie had a nice fudgy center and rich chocolate flavor. The raspberry on top added some tanginess and balanced out the bittetness from the chocolate. Overall, I really enjoyed the dessert from this dine out menu and was glad to have checked out at least one dine out this year! read more
