Ice Water with FRESH CUT Lemon Wedge.
Mori N.

We were going to go to a usual lunch spot of ours, but I've had my eye on Burgoo for a while. Here we go.... Walking into a rustic and cozy eatery while a friendly smile from a far welcomes us with every step handing us a menu and seating us in the cutest little booth right by the window overlooking charming Burrard street. I fell in love with the menu right away because it has all my favourite comfort foods. Take a look at the menu....you'll see.... We got the Soup & Salad combo (Mushroom Medley and FAB salad). .........The soup was everything a Mushroom Medley should be. Perfect proportions, spectacular seasoning and spot on temperature. (Yes, I've been served luke-warm soup before. It was not pretty.) The FAB salad. It was well....Fab. Every single ingredient was fresh. Every single one, and topped with red onion. Not adding red onion into a salad is like.....not adding basil to your pasta sauce. They got every detail covered. The Sandwich & Salad (Tasty Chicken Sandwich with FAB salad.) ...........The Chicken Sandwich was the best I've ever had. Just try it. You'll see. The FAB salad....well...we already covered that cutie. The service was warm, friendly, attentive and professional. With this place, aside from their kickass food, what really impressed me was their attention and care to detail. To the point where, when I asked for ice water....the glass was spotless, the water filled not too full and not lacking topped with a Fresh Cut Lemon Wedge. Obviously you have the tasty food, Quality service, and Clean Establishment that render a restaurant as great, but in my book, it's the little things that hoist it up to Excellent. And that is exactly what this place was. Excellent.

Comfort food at its best - Burgoo Bistro delivers! The menu is best described as eclectic, a little Polish/Czech, a little bit Southern, Indian and French just to hit the rest of the Northern Hemisphere. Whatever the theme is they do it right. I ordered the pierogi as an appetizer and the vegetable burgoo for my entree. Both were delicious and filling. Don't forget to tour the drink menu - mocktails especially. There's too many enticing things to try so I'm definitely coming back p.s. great music too!

It was a cold rainy day in Vancouver, perfect for comfort food at Burgoo! It was an impromptu decision on a Friday night but we luckily got a place for 4 people at their Burrard location and were seated immediately. Considering the weather, we had to get their French onion soup which was perfect! It was cheesy, gooey, and comforting. I decided to try their Jambalaya which came with creole rice, chicken, prawns, tomato, and smoked sausage. It was SO good! I think this is going to be my new go-to dish at Burgoo. It was also very comforting and had a lot of flavour. The portion size was so big I couldn't finish it and ate it over two meals. I also decided to try a new drink and got their Polar Bear which had peppermint schnapps, baileys, and hot chocolate. To be honest, wasn't the biggest fan.. I usually like sweeter drinks and this was not that. My friends liked it though!

Came by for their BOGO appies for happy hour. Tried out the meatballs, chicken kaarage, shrimp and perogies. For the price coming out to about $6-7 a dish, they were definitely worth it! Each item was packed full of flavour and good value too!

Super close to St. Paul's hospital so my friend actually checked into the ER and then we went here to eat while waiting. I always love the lobster bisque but this time, I decided to try the chicken corn soup. It was good, but I regretted not getting the lobster bisque. The soup and sandwich combo is awesome but this time I got soup with salad. Salad was surprisingly good! The pierogies were surprisingly delicious! Lots of chorizo with it. I would definitely order these again.

We went to Burgoo for our first meal in Vancouver as it was literally across the street from our hotel. It was happy hour when we visited for a really late lunch around 4pm. What a gem of a place! They don't do a particular kind of cuisine, rather they market their food as comfort food. We ordered two apps off the happy hour menu and a soup and salad combo off the main course and our sleep-starved souls definitely felt comforted after the exhaustion of airports and international travel. The chicken karaage was unusually delightful and the best of the three dishes we ordered. The garlic shrimp was also flavorful, and I loved the caramelized garlic cloves, but can imagine some who will be turned off by so much of garlic. I was a little disappointed by the lobster bisque which felt overly watered down and lacking in flavor. Loved the side of fab salad though - very refreshing and perfectly balanced flavors, I must say. Overall, Burgoo served as a great start to our Vancouver trip with good food, cosy interiors, and warm service, though a tad too slow (there was only one person managing the whole place when we entered).

I had really high expectations, given the positive reviews, but felt like this was just okay. To be clear, it wasn't bad but was just mediocre. When I walked in, there was no one at the hostess stand and it took a couple minutes to get seated even though the restaurant was mostly empty. After getting seated, service continued to be slow despite an empty restaurant. I ordered biscuits and a soup/ salad. The herbed butter that came with the biscuits was delicious. Soup and salad were pretty good. Nice little place, just needs to be more attentive.

Met up with a friend on Dec 21st here for a lunch. This was smaller than Main St, but the same cozy atmosphere for a comfort food. It was freezing cold that day. We ordered After School Special ($19.50) and French Onion Soup ($14.50). I was so impressed by the taste of both grilled cheese and tomato soup. Crunchy bread and so much stretch in cheese! Besides it was a good cheese NOT Kraft cheddar! Tomato soup was so flavourful! Even my friend liked the grilled cheese, it was excellent! Couldn't say much on French onion soup. Buddy said it was salty so she couldn't finish it. Food was on the pricy side for sure. I seriously enjoyed my food it was quite a surprise. I was little puzzled of construction of kitchen and washroom thinking washroom was way back against the wall. Food didn't take long to come out.

I love this cute and cozy little spot. The hosts and servers are always friendly and welcoming and the menu is warm and comforting, full of classic comfort food favourites. During the colder months I always try to think of restaurants that have the best soups, and this one tops my list for classic comfort food style soups. They even gave little grilled cheese fingers to dip in tomato soup. The French onion soup is also one of the best I've had and I know so many people that love it that it's practically iconic at this point. Today I finally tried the Yummy Carrot soup and it was as amazing as it sounded! They have lots of other great things besides their soups,, like sandwiches and standard comfort foods like Mac and cheese, pasta etc. and of course the biscuits are some of the best in town too. This is my very favourite go to spot for rainy autumn evenings and cozy winter nights

Mac and cheese
Jameson B.

Mac and cheese was decent, needed more seasoning or a sharper cheese added to it. The grilled cheeses were tasty. The crispy cheese added a nice crunch on top of the bread. I'd opt for the chorizo add on, as it gave the dish the needed protein and flavour. The tomato soup was personally not a fan of. It was too tangy for my liking. However the creamy soup was delicious! Dipping the sandwich in the corn soup elevated it. Service was quick and friendly, and the ambiance was warm with an all wood setting and warm lighting.

French Onion Soup with a Dark n' Stormy.

My partner and I just love Burgoo. Sometimes you just need comfort food, and that is exactly what Burgoo does best. My go-to is always the French Onion Soup, my partner always gets the Mac & Cheese. We have been here several times & it has always been top notch. I'd also recommend the dark & stormy, they do it well here! Pretty small place with cozy booth tables & dim lights, we haven't needed to make a reservation but we do just in case. Music can get a tad loud. They accommodated my peanut allergy very well & the staff were very kind.

one of the best restaurants we tried in vancouver for sure…read more honestly, i would skip most of the main courses and just order off the happy hour menu because that was easily the highlight for us. the carpaccio was insanely good! super savory, rich, fresh, and packed with flavor. it had that perfect balance where the meat practically melts in your mouth, and every bite tasted bright, salty, and satisfying without feeling too heavy. definitely the standout dish of the night. i also really enjoyed the poutine. the melted cheese curds made it extra comforting and indulgent, and the whole dish felt way more elevated than standard poutine. the drinks were also amazing. both the mocktails and cocktails were genuinely well made and memorable instead of feeling like an afterthought. the only misses for me were the short rib and the steelhead trout, which both really needed salt. the risotto was also pretty mid and not very memorable compared to the other dishes.

I'm not sure if I would say it was "jumbo" but delicious nonetheless. Parmesan Truffles Fries - The fries were standard, as was the aioli it came with. Organic Beet + Arugula Salad - This was a happy hour portion. It was a good salad, but I wish it came on a bigger plate for easier eating. Service: Service was friendly and quick. The food came out of the kitchen pretty quickly. I was asked more than once if I wanted a drink since it was happy hour which was a little awkward but not too bad! TL;DR - Good happy hour deals with quick service

What a fun find in downtown Vancouver. I was looking for a good burger place while visiting the…read morecity. This place was just down the street so I thought I'd try it. The entrance is down a level from the Main Street. It's a comfortable place with good decor and friendly staff. The hostess was very nice and helpful with great suggestions. So glad we tried the Aussie poutine because it was great! Seasoned fries, peppery gravy and melted cheese; what's not to like. The dud burger was good, as were the onions rings. I wanted to try the Roo burger because when do you get the chance to try kangaroo? It was ok but not really my taste. The beers on draft are a good mix with lots of mixed drinks to choose from as well. I'm glad we tried this place and would definitely try it again if I'm ever in town. Go to Moose's Down Under and get a pint with your poutine!

I found out very quickly that the venue had been charging patrons for my tickets, which was not agreed on, so who knows how many people they never paid me for who were forced to pay them for my show rather than the performers getting the profits. At the end of the night they refuse to pay me the agreed-upon compensation for running the show and drawing in a crowd, gaslit me, and were incredibly hostile and rude. They said I should have gotten in 200 people with no stage view and given them the ticket sales. I literally had more than double the people I've had at other shows where I was paid more compensation and the owners were incredibly happy. The manager lied that the owner had left when he was right there. The owner eventually agreed to pay us half what was promised, and then the manager and his wife literally gave us a third of what we were owed. Went back to the owner at the back, when they said that he had left again and told us to gtfo, and again the owner told them to pay us, and then they cheated me out of an extra $20 and told us they didn't care about our patron's business. Not a single person at this bar is Australian, the nachos and poutine I tried sucked and were gross. They charged my performers for food and drinks when they agreed they'd cover it. I was told by other people that they charged them for extra drinks. This is the worst experience I've ever had at a venue or in a decade of running shows. And the manager threatened to cancel me from other venues for expect pay agreed on, as I have at all shows. If you want to go to an authentic Australian place, the only thing these Persians have in common is the way they treat people is criminal.
