Lobster bisque with a Cubano sandwich.
    Tim J.

Cosy and comfortable. Exactly what you need for a quiet night out of the rain. Has an old-style pub/ski chalet vibe to it which is warm and inviting. The self-description of "food for comfort" is on point. Been here a few times and it's suitably satisfying. Service has always been good. Lobster bisque (4/5) - been on a bisque run recently so wanted to try it. Very satisfying but not top-tier. It's a small portion so you may want to supplement it with a sandwich or grilled cheese. The Cubano (4/5) - good amount of pulled pork, all the right flavours. Lovely ciabatta. A solid sandwich. It's a fun menu to explore - not many places quite like it. Will be back on another cold and rainy night.

Burgoo is pure comfort food. We love coming here, it's always cozy and hits the spot every time. Highly recommend the soup and salad combo. I usually add chicken to the salad and it's the perfect amount for a full dinner. Super satisfying without being too heavy. The French onion soup is also amazing if you're in the mood for something rich and hearty! It's also fairly affordable (which is rare these days!) We always leave full and happy.

It was yet another rainy day in Vancouver and I was seeking pure comfort food so decided to go to Burgoo. I'm so glad I made that decision because I left feeling cozy and warm on the inside (might have been all that cheese). For drinks we got their fresh mango cooler and aperol spritz. Both were good! The mango cooler was non-alcoholic but very refreshing! For appetizers we were torn between their fonduementale and brie fondue but decided to go for the first one. It came with cubes of apple, grapes, crouton, and tomatoes. All those went so well with their gooey cheese! For main course I got their french onion soup and gooey cheese grills. I was in heaven! Their french onion soup is one of the best I've had, towards the end I was left with a blob of cheese and some soup. The portion was so big! Their gooey cheese grills came with a side of tomato soup, it was the epitome of comfort food. Never had grilled cheese like that before! There's a reason Burgoo is considered the best for comfort food in Vancouver.. 5/5

Cute, cabin restaurant with flavorful variety of food. Their salads are packed with vegetables and delicious dressings! The butter chicken was a very generous portion and tasted close to authentic.

Really filling and really delicious! I also tried the mac and cheese and was also pretty good. Service was nice and the ambiance of the restaurant is cute. I always suggest burgoo to friends and people I know travelling here! Went at lunch time and was not busy at all or forgotten about by our waitress.

Gooey Cheese Grillers with a kale Caesar salad

My friend and I went to Burgoo during happy hour. The staff were super friendly! The starters were buy one, get one free--we got the garlic shrimp and pierogies. Both tasted great, but the garlic shrimp really stood out. I LOVED it! For the main dish, I ordered the Gooey Cheese Grillers with a kale Caesar salad. The baguettes were loaded with cheese. They were not bad but I might try something else next time. The salad, though, was so good! The kale and Caesar combo worked really well together. We also ordered the strawberry lemonade, which tasted super fresh. I'd definitely order it again!

We had my friends surprise bday brunch here and they were so accommodating. It got really busy though so they had to kick us out. I feel bad we stayed for so long and were loud. The waitress was very attentive. The food was good. The options were not many but decent enough so you don't have to think too hard too early in the morning.

Burgoo - Mount Pleasant location 3096 Main St, Vancouver 604-873-1441 https://www.burgoo.ca/ Went there for a late lunch with my daughter, we happened to be there 20 mins before their happy hour start (3-5pm) We decided to have a Parmesan Chicken burger & tomato soup to share. The burger was tasty with lots of pesto & arugula on it. The soup was very good. For happy hour, we ordered the fondue (20% off during happy hour). They also had a happy hour menu, we had the jalapeño popcorn chicken- nicely breaded & crispy. It has a very slight kick to it not spicy at all. Service was awesome, she was very friendly, attentive & such a cheery disposition. Loved the decor, so warm. Do check it out, street parking available.

Tomato soup and FAB salad (soup/salad combo)

Really cute/homey interior. We asked for the patio because we were a little warm from our walk down Main St. The patio was blasting hot from the heaters but the staff turned it off for us. We had the honeycomb pale ale, corn ribs, and a tomato soup/ FAB salad. The corn ribs have a tasty batter that had me actually gnawing on the "rib". The tomato soup was super tasty, not too creamy or cheesy like other places. The FAB salad is a greens with bacon, red onion, and apple in a vinaigrette. Very light and delicious. We will have to come back to try their entrées! Service was excellent for a Saturday brunch time.

A heap of French bread! Delicious!

Enjoying a French Onion soup, highly recommended by my neighbour. Burgoo today is bustling! The opaque brown broth is rich and well-seasoned. Properly chewy cheese topping a very substantial stack of bread makes this a stand alone lunch. Cosy and warm atmosphere. Will return to sample other mains. Lots of local beer. Corner of 15th and Main, long time location. East street parking and transit.

Burgoo! Food for comfort I really like the vibes of this restaurant! It's a bit fancy looking and quite cosy. I got a sandwich, the tasty chicken. I like that it came with hard bite chips and coleslaw, interesting sides. I liked the chips more than coleslaw though. The tasty chicken has bacon, onion jam, Brie, apple and Dijon mayo for $16.5 I liked the bacon and the apple gave it a nice crunch. We also got a big bowl soup served with herb buttered baguette (wish there was more baguette to dip into the soup, only one piece of bread ) we got straight up tomato vine ripened tomatoe, garlic , red wine, olive oil for $10 it's quite fancy soup, although oily, it's quite flavourful and thick. I really liked the consistency and warms you up! Just need more things to dip with the soup is my only suggestion.

We were very happy to hear they had high chairs and booster seats available. Place was not busy at that hour of the day, and we were glad to be seated near the back of the restaurant just in case our kid got fussy. It was nice and hipster and quiet and I love seeing the different flavors of foods on the menu. Hubby chose the Philly Cheesesteak poutine and he said it was really good. Originally I wanted to choose the Beefless Ginger Bowl, but thankfully the waiter warned me it may be a little on the spicy side. I'm glad he spoke up and I went with the Big Yum bowl instead. Definitely didn't disappoint! Had a fair helping of corn, edmame, sweet potatoes, shredded carrots, shredded cabbage and rice. I really appreciated the sauce was not overpowering and not unassuming. The perfect compliment in the perfect amount to just give your taste buds a little tickle. My kid tried some and he really liked it too, so it's always a bonus! Many Youtubers, vegan Instagrammers, or Reddit Posts recommended to try MeeT, so of course we had to see what the hype was about. There was plenty of seating inside and outside, but we chose to eat outside. One of the staff members said the service might not be fast since we're sitting outside, but our waitress, Dani, was so attentive and never forgot us! She went above and beyond by taking the time to check on us frequently, having long chats, and giving us the 101 around town. From giving us book recs to local restaurants and attractions around the city, Dani was a pool of knowledge and such a pleasure to talk to. She also knows Main Street like the back of her hand! Dani recommended the following dishes: Okonomiyaki - it was a bit salty for me, but still delicious. The pickled ginger really topped this dish off! It was a great appetizer before our actual meal came. Gruvi peruvi - there was an emphasis on olives, which is unusual for me but unique for this salad! I don't think I've ever had olives in a salad before, so it was interesting how it was the highlight of the dish. Elderflower spritz - light and not too sweet. The lemon really balances out the floral tones. I'm glad there wasn't too much carbonation in the drink. Mid-way through our meal, Dani came out to check up on us, but also surprised us saying her manager offered us dessert, on-the-house. Such a wonderful surprise! The restaurant did live up to the hype, and the staff were nothing but spectacular! Definitely will come back next time I'm in Vancouver.

Each time, service was super slow, some staff are not well trained on how to greet customers or talk to customers, and I got green onions every time I asked for no green onions (I never gave it back though). I know it's not a big deal if you forget once or twice, but it's been like this every single time. I can easily pick it out, but if you have the option for customers not to put it in, then I do feel it's a slight problem if you constantly forget. The portions have been getting smaller and small every time. Overall, not as impressed as I used to be. I dont think it's the employees problems though, the boss is just under hiring for rush hour time! (Even during non rush hour their service is kind of slow..). They have people running around but half the tables are empty and not clean. They don't have enough employees hence everyone has to wait for a long time. Hoping to see some improvements in the near future.

When I asked, the manger rudely stated it's because we're 5. She was aggressive and argumentative which was not appreciated. This doesn't make sense as this was the largest table in the whole restaurant as well. Now when we asked about other smaller tables that we could move next to this table, their excuse was that other guest "may show up".  Now what about the current guest? They could easily have moved a two person table next to the 4 person table. Yet they were saving for guest who were clearly not coming. how silly is this by not moving a few tables to keep your customers happy. Will not be going to this location from now on.

The cabbage and potato were very bland and made me question why the Acorn is so hyped. It was so bland i didn't finish it. Keep in mind SERVING SIZES ARE TINY. The ravioli were practically inedible the chicken of the woods was beyond overly salted and the pasta wasn't cooked. We joked that al dente was at least touching water.
